 HELLO LADIES ~ WOW ... didn't April just seem to fly by? It sure felt that way for us and I suspect that May will be the same and the rest of the spring and summer will likely go that way as well, as we have so many things planned for this year. We had a funny day, weather-wise; it couldn't make its mind up what it wanted to do. We started out with sunshine, then clouds and a few whisps of *** but nothing that stayed around (melted as soon as it touched the ground ~ lol!). And it stayed that way all day too, but it wasn't too bad really ...
ANYHOW, we had a busy morning in town, but our danged car was acting up on us, but we got everything done and home safely. DH found out what is was when we got home. Seems our car battery was defective; thank goodness we had another one. He put it in and everythings OK again ~ yeah. Gee, didn't want that for the weekend. Tomorrow, we are putting up our new clothesline with a new-phangled raising pulley-thing (I know that is soooo descriptive and accurate, I'm sure ~ lol); I really don't know what they call it ... haha! But as long as it works, I'll be happy. It is supposed to lift the line up, so Dh can't knock it down anymore!!! DH says that now I bought him a new big ladder, he can't get out of putting it up anymore; it's a now or else, kind of thing ~ LOL! He says it shouldn't take too long; yah, we'll see ... Anyways, we had spagetti and homemade moose meatballs; made enuff for five dinners. I bake them in the oven on cookie sheets and then freeze them in containers; later, I just add them to our favorite sauce. They were yummy too! I was careful and measured my cooked spagettini (1 cup each). It really is lots once you add the sauce with the meatballs and I had a bit of coleslaw too. Well, that's all for tonight and going to go make some tea now. PURPLE and VAL, you are in my thoughts and prayers each day. Take good care of yourselves, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
AHHHHH IT'S MAY! NOOOOOOOO stop! slow down! I need more time!
ok. now that I got that off my chest. thanks for starting the May thread Rosebud. I will post more tomorrow... I had a really long day today.. work was out of town... ended up with an early breakfast and a late high fat lunch and i'm suffering for it now. My stomach cannot handle fried food anymore... so serves me right to be miserable all night. take care all  |
:Hi Ladies
Thanks so much for your well wishes and prayers. Dad appears now to be on the mend and recuperating with us. So I now have my mum and dad stopping with us. So at least I can keep an eye on him and stop him getting up to any mischief :D In the end no pacemaker was fitted as there was not enough medical evidence to warrant putting one in. The angiogram that he had found that there was no narrowing and so no stents was put in to force the arteries or veins open. Medication has been change though and the big one for my Dad is they have discontinued the warfrin which will be great for him. I have missed this board so much to keep me on the straight and narrow so to speak. Though I have still managed to lose at little weight during this time Dad was at hospital. Which suprized me as I was not able to eat as clean as I would like but I have tried to pick what I think is the healthiest choice. The one think where Dad was in hospital it sure was exercise every day walking down those corridors so kept up my exercise in a roundabout way. I hope that I find you all well ladies and your families. I have just had a quick read over the past posts to try and get myself up to speed. I may still not be on as often as I would like as I play host to my parents. Yikes May already. So happy May everyone, Well April has lived up to its name of April showers. So we have had a lot of rain the last couple of days my garden is like a bog:dizzy: I have someone coming to see what is causing the water logging. Bye ladies and thanks again for all your support during this difficult time. |
 HI LADIES ~ We had lovely sunshine for most of the day; it was cool but the sun made it feel warmer. We spent the morning putting up that new clothesline and it works great.
VAL ~ That's Ok; get lots of rest after all that travelling. PURPLE ~ WOW, seems our prayers were answered big time for your Dad; I am so glad that he is better and that there is nothing too major wrong with him afterall: how nice is that??? Tres, tres, nice ~ that's what? I'm sure you'll enjoy having your mom and Dad stay with you for awhile too. You'll be back in the swing of things in no time, but all that walking has helped if you have continued to lose all the while. Good for you; wish it was that easy for me. Are you on a low carb plan? I have been meaning to ask you that for a while, but with so much going on in both our lives, I kept forgetting. WELL, our day was pretty good; spent the afternoon sending out prayers for some friends and neighbours and others who made requests. We had fish for dinner becuz that is one of DH's favorites. Seems our car is still acting up; DH went to move it and it wouldn't start. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Hope you all have a great Friday; last day of the week VAL!!! WE hope our new big gift comes tomorrow or maybe it will arrive on the weekend, at the latest; I've been very anxious waiting for it to get here. Take good care of yourselves ladies; get lots of rest and have a great evening ... :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
I can not say it how good it is to be back and able to post more regular now. Though during this busy time I had met without really thinking about it was now on the not so accurate scale but one we seem to use :dizzy: I am now classified as overweight. Never in my wildest dreams did I every think that I would achieve being overweight from being clinically morbidly obese. Looking back till then my diet has improved dramatically and I now eat more healthily. I often get asked about whether I feel better now I have lost the weight. Though unfortunately I feel no better as like many of us on here we have health issues that will never go away no matter how much weight we lose. ROSEBUD Yes it is wonderful that Dad is slowly getting back on his feet. Though he did have a heart attack and now this is his 3rd that he has had since he was 55 and now he is 75. Thanks for your well wishes they were very comforting when times were difficult. You asked whether I was on a low carb plan. I do not have much bread per day only one slice at most 2. I have only a small portion of potatoes. For example I have 2 small pieces of boiled or steamed potatoes. I also have low fat so very little margarine or butter. I have very seldomly pastry, cake or biscuits. I have lots of vegetables and fruits. I also have normally no more than 6 oz of protein. I find in many ways I eat loads more than I previously did just more of the right stuff ;) Time for me to go and do some more food preparation for tomorrows meals. Bye for now  |
Hi Ladies
Well I hope your all having a nice bank holiday weekend with friend or family. It is hard to believe that another month has crept up upon us. The Monday for us in the UK is a bank holiday so no work or school for many people. This is for the 1st of May which was in the middle of the week so to speak so they take the first Monday after that for a holiday. I have just realise today that another milestone had been reached without me knowing with all that had been going on. I have now gone into the unknown territory onederland this is the lightest I have been I think all my adult life. So kind of scary on one hand but exciting on another. Today I have done a little washing of mainly of bath towels so hoping the weather holds out and it dries outside. Though rain is forecast later in the day. I am also in the process of making a jelly (jello) with fresh fruit and sugar free jelly (jello). Another sneaky way to get fruit in to DH and it look like a dessert in his eyes :D I have a low calorie topping to put on top and you don't need very much either. So that will be for Sunday tea. Being rather adventurous for tea we are having ostrich burger. I know that they are very low in cholesterol and calories than other meat. I bought them today off the farmers Market that comes locally once a month. Time to finish my coffee from dinner and start making tracks with my chores left for the day. bye bye ladies till next time  |
 HELLO CHICKIES ~ Friday was a kinda stressor day for us; our new big gift was to arrive, but it has had a delay until Monday, I'm afraid. Oh well, good things come to those who wait, they say. Unfortunely, the car that DH bought in January has been giving us lots of grief since April; and he has been very upset to say the least. He feels embarrassed that he didn't notice a few things until after we got it home and were driving it; I didn't want to say anything to make him feel any worse.
ANYWAYS, the dang thing just up and stopped working for us yesterday; DH couldn't get it to go the life of him, so he had to hitch a ride to go do the final arrangements for me. I saw that we were having to many problems with it and it looked like more were coming, so last Saturday I went out and bought another newer car. I had to wait to say anything until the deal was done. There is no doubt in my mind that someone upstairs is watching out for us and anticipated the problems we were having and that they were gonna get a whole lot worse. We had met this lady a while ago and DH asked her to remember us if she ever decided to buy a new car; so she decided to buy a new one this year and a friend of ours asked her if we could have her old one. It was kinda ironic that we had already asked her about it a while back. So we got a call to go look at it; and I told DH that I was picking the next car because I was upset about this last one. So this one is much better, but we had to wait until Monday for all the paper work and formalities to get completed. I wanted to come and let you know what was up. Tonight we stayed home and played games and listened to the GOLDEN OLDIES on our local station; heck we are stranded right now anyways ~ LOL! But GOD is looking after us afterall, as always ... PURPLE ~ :congrat: you are doing fantastic girl; your steady losses amazes me; you must be getting a lot more exercise than you think; and your plan must be really good for you as well. I am not into all the labels that people use out there, but I am so glad for you that you are into the 'onederland' stage where you haven't been since you were young. Yes, it can be scary; I have lost weight enuff times to know what you mean. If you are only eating one or two slices of bread a day; plus a small amount of tators, that is low carb which isn't the same a no-carb. That is probably why you are losing faster. I am eating regular amounts of bread becuz my plan is different than yours; sounds like your plan is much lower calorie than mine too. Since I started higher, I was worried about going too low at the start. Lately, I have been asking myself questions like 'Is this a HEALTHY thing to eat?' and find that helps me to make better choices. BTW, I am so glad your DAD is recuperating from his heart attack so well; but it sounds like things are getting better for him too. Will continue to pray for a quick and complete recovery for him. How interesting, your DAD is the same age as mine ~ LOL! VAL ~ Hope you have a great weekend; get lots of rest. Did your parents leave yet to their new destination, or were they just getting ready for the move soon? I know they were packing up a trailer recently with your help. ONE day this week, I got a lot of walking in (too much really); but I was very sore afterwards and have had to do only shorter walks for the rest of the week becuz of that. My legs have been giving me some trouble this week. I've been staying on plan for the most part, but maybe I can tweak things a bit more. Tonight we had steak, veggies, salad, and brown rice for dinner; it was really nice too. WELL, I just wanted to come and check in; we have rain out there tonight and it's coming down quite heavy right now. This is our first really big rain this spring, I think. It's supposed to continue tomorrow, but be sunny again by Monday. Have a great weekend ladies, and take good care of yourselves ~ your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
The weather has been very cloudy all day though up to this point it still has not rained. Dispite it being cloudy it is not too cold you can go out in just a sweater or cardigan and no coat need so definately getting warmer. ROSEBUD I really hope that your new car is better than the last one. Cars are so expensive to buy and run. The trouble is unless you are an expert in that field of cars we do not know really what we are purchasing. Like probably in Canada fuel here is very expensive. For petrol (gas) it is about £1.09 ( $2.19 CAD ) and for diesel it is about £1.17 ($2.35 CAD). This is the price per litre as we work in the decimal system here rather than the imperial of pints and gallons. Thanks for your congratulations when I started on this weight loss journey I did eat more bread and potatoes but if I reached a plateau and did not shift for several weeks I just lessen those sorts of things and increased the vegetables to fill up on. Hence my dinner plate if you break it up like a clock I have 30 to 40 minutes worth of just plain steamed vegetables on my plate. If I am hungry I do not let myself go hungry I will eat an apple or a banana to take that off. I try not to go more that 3 or 4 hours between my meals for example that way I am not so likely to go nibbling at all the naughty things because I am starving. It is good that you are questioning is this good to eat as I do that all the time. I also see the amount of calories of somethings and think yikes I could eat a whole meal for that amount. So I do not waste my calories so readily now. Not that I do not stray from time to time because I do but I use them times as treats and that keeps me on the straight and narrow. I have found few low calorie desserts that I can make myself that helps with that sweet tooth that seems to keep biting me :D Though I think the most important thing is Rosebud is that we are now eating so much more healthier than we were a few years back and that can only be good. Yes I do get exercise in that I do not think about. I am up and down from my chair like a jack in the box ;) as I get so stiff if I sit for very long though on the other hand my back kills if I stand for too long so it is a balancing act. My DH often thinks I have ants in my pants :D So all that movement counts I suppose as exercise. I am a little unsure what my body is doing at the minute since Friday I have had numbness in my feet and that has been creeping upwards to the point it is now up to my waist. I hate to say it is like when I first had my first symptoms of MS. I suppose the past weeks events have taken their toll on my body and now it is biting me and reminding me that I must take things more easy. Everyone helps me in the home whilst I have mum and dad stopping with me but stress can be a factor which I had buckets of for weeks before. Time to wash up from tea. bye bye ladies:hug: |
 HELLO CHICKIES ~ We had a beautiful sunny day today; earlier than they expected. We had a bonfire tonight; I love them as they are so pretty. Got a call from my sis today: always love talking to her. We had a nice restful day today and a very simple dinner of bangers and beans for a change. DH had his banger on whole wheat buns; I had baked beans with mine instead plus a bit of salad too. I just had a craving for it; but it all fit into our healthy eating plan.
PURPLE ~ I can really relate to some of the things you talk about your health. Even though I don't have MS, some of the physical problems you have are so similar to mine it's weird. If I sit too long my legs start to go numb so I have to get up and walk around; I can't stand at the counter too long or my back hurts (the spina bifida problem there) from the angle and I can't repeat bending motions or my back screams with pain ... I was having a problem with tinglies and numbness in my feet and hands, but this is getting better; I have to make sure to have rests and get my legs up though. Stress does seem to make it worse (you see the similarities); and it will cause my anxieties to get worse, so I have to be careful to keep a very positive focus as that helps me a lot. I love singing and reading upbeat stuff; and writing songs and poems help me a lot too. I REALLY hope that you are feeling better soon; yes you have been thru a lot lately so try and get some rest too. I will pray about those nummies for you as that can't be a good feeling at all; and I really do know how it feels. WELL, tomorrow we get our newer car tested and by the end of the day, we should have a really nice car to drive; can't wait. Hope all goes well; I'm sure everything will be OK though. We had a mechanic friend there with us and he went for a ride in it with us and was really excited about how nice the car was, so that gave us an even better impression. I'll take some pics of it to put up as well later. VAL ~ Hope you're well and having a great weekend too. We've noticed that some foods bother us too now. I don't like the fatty stuff either as it gives me upset tummy now; kind of greasy burps too ... yuuukkkkkkk .... TAKE good care ladies and have a great night, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
 this is the 3rd time I've tried to come by and post... things are busy. or I get distracted. ha ha... short attention span over here :)
 Purple so good to have you back. You must need to rebuild so much energy! I wont tell you how to take care of yourself but you know what you need to do! I'm glad things have stablized somewhat for your Dad... and now hopefully for you. Rosebud... I caught snippets.. your newly purchased vehicle decided to give up so you suprised DH and found a replacement? How is that going? Yay pictures! I took photos of my chevy optra hatchback - I purchased it in January and have to send pics to my friends. It turns out.. work is sending me to Edmonton. I'm flying out on Saturday to university of Alberta for a week long university seminar.. year one towards getting a certificate in economic development. Then turns out... I also have funding to attend the year two seminar at university of waterloo in ontario at the end of this month. My 'dream' is to have a job that pays me to go to school... and while I didnt study economic development I know there's value is getting as much free training as I can. It'll be a busy month! nitey nite! Val |
Hi Ladies
Nice warm day here today, though cloudy, I have both my front and back door open as it is so warm inside. Our dog loves it when the front door is open as he spends hours just sitting there playing what we call nosey neighbour. Our neighbours love to see him sitting out there and miss him in winter. Did some experiment today in cooking. Did chicken breast (small ) and stuffed with sage and onion stuffing. Then wrapped in bacon oh they were so moist and tasty. I though it would be a nice change for bank holiday Monday. I then made sure the rest of the dinner was low calories with being steamed vegetables. Every one seemed to enjoy it so my little experiment went down a treat. ROSEBUD Yes I am getting an understanding of your condition of spina bifida that it has its own challenges and pains that come with it. In many ways we have the same challenges with mobility, pain, stiffness pins and needles and stiffness. So it is nice to be able to support each other through these. My numbness still is here and maybe for some days. I can not seem to sit for long today, so I am up and down like a yoyo. DH and dad are watching the womans FA cup final and I am listening to it. Mum is reading her book. VALPAL Nice to hear from you. I understand that concentration is difficult at times. Sometime I just can not read yet I am passionate about it. Yet at times I have the concentration span of a gnat and reading is out of the question. I am trying to rest as much as possible to aid my body healing process though at times it never goes quick as you would like it. Fortunate very one is mucking in and helping me out with daily chores but it is taking its toll the past few weeks worry. Wow what a busy schedule you have with work and education. Though it would be lovely if you ever got the dream job. I was fortunate that nurse training was broke up with time at the school of nursing and time on various wards. I am not denying that it was not hard work as some of my nursing shifts were 13 hours long then you had to come home and study. But I was paid to go to school to get my qualification that I wanted. So many nights with very little sleep but I felt and still do that it was all worth it. Right time for a brew ( cup of tea ) so till next time tara  |
 HULLO LADIES ~ our weather was not too bad; a bit cold with sun on and off (in snippits). Did take NIKO for a walk, but had to come back early as the winds out in the field made it feel like winter was back ~ LOL! Next time, I'll just put on my parka!
ANYWAYS ~ the new(er) car is still at the garage; had to order some parts; thanks goodness they are all small things, but will still have to pay the mechanic to put them on; so as DH says, 'We are still afoot!' Actually, I'm just staying home, but the GOOD NEWS is: that the mechanic says that our new(er) car is a KEEPER ... YEAH!!!!!!! He says that it is in remarkable condition; and we really got a great deal ... YEAH!!!!!!! In the end, it will cost us a bit more, but we still got a bargain because it had a higher value than we paid. GOD bless our dear friends who introduced us and had a generous heart too! I just stayed home while DH did all the running around, but lots of good Samaritans have been helping him out earning mega reward points for themselves in heaven, I'd say ... VAL ~ WOWIE ... that IS a dream job you have there; one that pays you to take courses and travel all over the country at the same time. In Kitchener-Waterloo, there is a huge open market under a roof (in a large arena) downtown; try to go to it if you can. Mega veggies and other tastey treats to try and see. It's downtown Kitchener which is the other side of the city (Kitchener & Waterloo are two cities that ran into each other and are now one). I have an Uncle who lives there right now. You have an amazing year coming up for you; enjoy every minute of it. PURPLE ~ that wasn't too bad to be paid to go to school and get your nursing degree; sounds like a real blessing to me too. Glad you are feeling a bit better and enjoying having MOM & DAD around. That chicken dish sounds really yummy and healthy too; love new ideas, as I'm the type of person who gets bored with the same old, same old ... WELL, that's all for me right now; I spent the evening on my PC, writing letters and such. We will have that car done this week as long as all the right parts come in for it; as soon as I do, I'll take some pics and post them. Take good care, Chickies ~ your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Wow Rosebud - we'll have to check that market out. I hear that usually the students from these programs go out every evening... so I'll try to take advantage of that. I'll aim to find a balance between socializing like everybody else and resting... Edmonton is going to be crazy too. I am SO shopping in West Edmonton Mall!
Purple wow.. 13 hour shifts AND school. I dont think I could do that. i came by to say.. .I SIGNED MY MORTGAGE TODAY. Possession is June 1st! ahhhh |
New
I went through a massive surgery about two years ago. I spent three months in the hospital and went through near death experiences about 4 times. While I was in the hospital I dropped to 140 plbs or below.
Of course since I've been back my health has been fragile and I put on weight. I'd like to get down to the 150s but I have a hard time sticking to a diet thought recently I've been exercising and walking. I even ran 1/2 a mile last night! The down side is when I exert myself life that its very hard to do anything the next day. Looking for support, Kat |
:welcome: novelist - come back and post more about yourself when you have time. We all have our own challenges and have to overcome them on a daily basis but as people like Purpleorc have proven -- it's possible to lose a lot of weight and become healthier despite serious health conditions.
ok. I forgot the reason why I was posting. it was something big. I promise. maybe I'll remember tomorrow. ahhh sorry I havent had time to really read all the posts. they look interesting! edit: oh ha ha so it's not that big. just funny. My brother usually administers my interferon injections for me (because the autoject does this loud spring sound that makes me jump and it used to sting so much) anyways... I've had to cut back using some of my injection sites because 'I'm running out of fat'. ha well not really but some sites take longer to heal.. because they arent morbidly obese. Anyways. small victory. yay. |
k so. i had an iced cappicino today.. at like noon. but I'm wired right now. so time for catch up.
Rosebud - whats a banger? Is your numbness caused by pinched nerves? It is a disconcerting feeling, I know. And so good to hear about your newest purchased vehicle :) It must be a nice reassurance! Purple - oh my gosh Gas is crazy over there. In my town it's only 1.29 a litres.. and thats an all time high. I bought a south korean made economy car a couple months ago because it's supposed to be amazingly fuel efficent. I'm in a similar situation as you with work/school.. though I'm not regularly pulling 13 hour days. The timing for this training is the worst possible... I'll be gone 2 weeks of the 2.5 that I have to prepare the basement suite in my house for a tenant.. and I'll be out of town the entire last week before my parents do their final farewells. Tourism is busy in town too.. so it seems like everything in my life will suffer.. because I will drop it to train. But I dont think I will regret it.. even if it happens to make me sick by June. (knock on wood) I think I'm going to lay in bed awake now. ha I guess I can blame the mortgage signing.... yesterday now.. for keeping me wired. |
 HI LADIES ~ Thanks for carrying us along there VAL; have been busier than normal lately. Late last night, I just came in to read, then started nodding, so I figured I would just wait and post today; but I see that I have some catching up to do too. The day started out with ***; yes ***, but it didn't hang around; but I don't really mind that, and then afterwards, the sun came out for the rest of the day.
:wel3fc: NOVELISTKAT ~ WOW, that's a lot of weight to lose in just three months; sounds like you were very sick. Are you writing a book about your experience (hence, your moniker - novelist)? Nice of you to join us; we are glad to have new members in our group. Yes, do tell us a bit more about yourself, your family, and your life ... We had to move my large salad garden drum becuz NIKO wants to use it as his playground and bury all his bones and toys in it; what a mess!!! So I found a site on the net by a couple of Vets who suggested filling a hole with sand and let him play in that instead. We have a sand pit near us so on the weekend we will go get some for him. UPDATE ON OUR NEWER CAR ~ finally getting to go pick up our new car tomorrow; gee, sure took long enuff. I was getting a bit ticked with the garage and the mechanic for taking so dang long. Good thing too, as we have to take my friend to see some specialists in the city early Monday morning; talk about cutting it close. DH will finish up the paperwork and then come and get me to go for a nice, long ride. VAL ~ Bangers are large sausages; my favorites are made locally and they are so yummy. I like the medium-hot ones myself; they are popular eaten on buns with relishes like chow chow and mustard (we use whole grain buns), but I like them plain with beans and coleslaw on the side. They come in mild, medium-hot, and hot; and these local ones are really LEAN, not greasy like some are ... CONGRATULATIONS on signing your mortgage for your house; and you're taking possession soon, right ~ LOL!!! It can be a bit nerve-wracking at first, but it's very exciting too; and once it's all settled, you can sit back and relax. The biggest thing is to remember to get that payment paid first every month; then the taxes and insurance (which some banks include in the payments for you); and of course, your utilities to carry the place. I add up all our expenses plus car insurance (and payment, if one), phone, internet, savings; and LEAVE that amount in our main account. Most of our bills come out of our account the first two weeks (I try for the first week, if I can), so then all the rest is for us to spend on miscellaneous expenses like groceries, gas, household, PA's, and so on. Each week we take out just what we need for those things, and at the end of the month, if any is left we put that into savings too (say for holidays, Christmas gifts, or our cabin we want to build). I see that you have a basement suite that you will be renting; that will be good to help you carry your place. I did a similar thing in my house: we made an apartment upstairs and I rented that out: that really helped me carry the place (half my expenses were paid right there). ABOUT NUMBNESS ~ you know, that's what I suspect; that the numbness and tingles were caused by pinched nerves. At first, I thought it was low sugar or even menopause, but I had a really bad fall, where I damaged some discs in my back and I really think that may have caused that. I have a neck brace that I have to wear every now and then to alleviate the pressure on those discs. And with spina bifida, and all the problem with my lower back where the discs didn't close right (therefore weakening my spine), I really didn't need that too. I sure have my problems; add to that the same fall that dislocated my right knee (the one that collapses), and another fall that fractured my left calf (which I still get pain in, if it's overstressed). RE GAS PRICES ~ VAL, your prices are similar to ours; last time I was in town, they were $1.27 liter (which is about $4.83 a gallon); but England sure has it bad ($12/gal, as does Africa $24/gal). How terrible is that??? HEY PURPLE ~ Hope all is well with you and yours ... ANYWAYS, that should catch me up a bit for now; take good care, ladies ~ your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
Today has been very humid today though cloudy. Even managed to put the air conditioner unit on. :welcome: NOVELISTKAT sounds like you were very poorly to lose vast amount of weight in a very short period of time. I understand how difficult it is to exercise when you pay so dearly the next day. You may find it useful to look at other forms of exercise that maybe less demanding on your health. It is difficult to stay on a healthy diet especially when you are having issues with your health. Maybe start by making little steps rather than tackle the whole thing in one go. Like eating a little more fruit daily or vegetables. After your doing that on a regular basis try doing something else like drinking more fluid per day. All these mini steps will all add up and make it less alarming and tackling it all at once. I have not been on for the past couple of days because I am really struggling as I think that I am dealing with a ms flare which I have not had in 9 years. I even managed to fall getting into the car the other day and now I am supporting a lovely bruise on my left leg. I am now numb from my waist down to my feet. Then I had a bout of the Rodney Trotters which made me very drained. Oh well things could be much worse and others are far worse off than myself so I am still grateful for what I have. I am tired now I will try and answer your posts tomorrow or as soon as I can. Though saying that it has been really good to come on tonight and report in. bye for now  |
PURPLE ~ SORRY to hear that you are feeling under the weather; I am sending up prayers on your behalf. Hope that fall didn't cause the problem with your numbness; or was that caused by it? Either way, will continue to pray for you until you feel better.
VAL ~ We picked up our newer car today; got some pics and will be downloading them tomorrow (it will take a while); and I'll post them so you and Purple can see them too. Just wanted to check in tonight; have a great weekend ladies, the best you can, OK??? ... your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
oh Purple  I was concerned you might experience some symptoms -- I know I do when stressful times end up with me pushing it too far. take extra special care please!
Rosebud My dad makes deer sausage like the bangers you describe. nice lean wild meat. I dont eat much red meat but the lean stuff tastes sooo good! I put some basic overdraft protection on my bank account.. but everything will start coming out the first of the month and I'm just not going to think about it for now. The bank isnt charging me mortgage payments till a month after possession and I'm so grateful because I wont really be home till next month. I'll look for your pictures tomorrow if I can get online in Edmonton. I did my packing today... I'm trying to just take a carry - on the plane because some of my connections are iffy... but it has been so hard to pack all my liquids in less than 100 ml containers and keeping them in a small ziploc. My new motto is ' I LOVE packing liquids in ziplocs *rolls my eyes* I snuck my deodorant and cold cream back into my suitcase though... and I'm going to try to sneak some tweezers with me. Will report back on whether or not I have to dump it! nite all  |
Hi Ladies
Today still remains hot and humid. So DH mowed the lawn and Dad pottered around the garden doing little things. He was also playing with our dog throwing his ball he was sat down for periods of time. He just said that he enjoyed this morning. I hope he did not do too much. In many ways me and him are so much a like and not so good at saying enough is enough I will leave that for another day. ROSEBUD :~ Well I managed to fall because I was numb. I have been numb now for about a week. I would imagine it is due to the stress of the pass couple of weeks. I have had stress before in my life as we all do from time to time. Though this is the first time that I appear to have had a real negative effect on my body. On previous occasions the most I have had is the fatigue that lasts for a wee while. Thanks for your prays that is very kind of you and much appreciated. I hope you and your DH enjoy your newer car. You will have to fill us in with how it is running. I was informing you of how expensive fuel was for running your car. It is now starting to make us really think is this journey necessary or can it wait. There are also schemes in place were you can only travel in designated lanes on a road if you have 2 or more people in the car. If you are found to be in this lane driving alone you will be fined heavily. There are also congestion (like toll charges) to travel in the city centre. So they are trying to get cars off the road. The trouble with fuel being expensive it has impact on other things that are transported by road. So food is getting more costly and clothing. It is getting so expensive to live here in the UK. VAL :~ Congratulations on the signing of your new home. I hope you enjoy. Purchasing homes here is mega expensive now. For a very basis home which we call a two up two down terraced home. ( Kitchen/diner, lounge 2 bedrooms and bathroom. This will have a very tiny garden and will back on to another garden or a passage way then someones else's garden) will go for something like £70.000 ($137.213 CAD or $136.395 USD). So increasingly now it is getting out of most peoples reach. So as much as I would to love to own my home I do not think it will ever be. But I can dream :D I am not sure whether it is stress or overdoing things why I am now experiencing numbness. I have never experiences symptoms like this since 1999 time when I was dx with MS. I was told I had progressive MS which means you do not have flare ups just a general slow deterioration . So this came as a bit of a shock to say the least. I think I will be contacting my MS nurse for some advice as what to do if anything. Though I will have to wait till Monday for some advice. I am being very careful with doing things now as with having a fall it has made me very aware that I am not so good on my feet and I am not wanting a fall any time soon ;) Yes with fuel being so expensive it makes you look for the cars that have great fuel economy. We have a Peugeot partner for another year and then we have to change it. This is as I belong to a scheme as my mobility is poor and you rent a car for 3 years. I hope all goes well in Edmonton. You have been so busy of late with one thing and another. You sure do live life to the full . Which is nice to see as some folk when they are dx with a long term illness do the "whoa is me" You are a great advocate to getting on with life despite your difficulties life throws at you. I am going to have a lie down as I am tired. So catch you all soon. Tara  |

GRRR ... I wrote up a nice post and it disappeared before I had a chance to submit it; so gonna do a shorter remake.
We had lovely sunshine and 65F temps all day; went for a tour in our new car so DH could get used to it. We visited a couple of our favorite lakes as well and took out my SIL for lunch for her 65th birthday as she also retired right afterwards too. We had Chinese; tried something new today; lemon chicken (they are mini chicken balls with a mild sweet & sour lemon sauce: very yummy indeed). VAL ~ good idea to have that overdraft; not to worry, you will do just fine. Yes, some people make moose and pork bangers; we have had them and enjoyed them very much. Have a wonderful time in Edmonton esp shopping at the world's largest mall. Look below for the pics of our newer car and NIKO's sweet face as well. PURPLE ~ Glad to pray for you; it costs nothing but gives so much in return. Maybe you should talk with an MS professional as they may have some ideas for you that may help. The car runs great; the driver's window was stuck so we had to buy a new repair kit, but today it wasn't working again, so we will have to take it back to the garage next week to get him to fix it right as we paid him $60 an hour to do those repairs, and we supplied all the new parts too. We really got a great deal on the car though, and we are so very happy with it. Take good care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: Here's a pic of our newer car and one of NIKO's happy face too! Hi Ladies and good afternoon
It has been a glorious day today and we have all been out for a pub lunch today. Our pooch Rizzie had a bath today and dried very quickly in the sunshine. Had a little chat to support my neighbour whose husband had a heart attack at the roughly the same time as Dad. He has been very "grumpy" for the past 24 hours or so. I tried to explain that unfortunately that people who have harding of the arteries that cause the heart attack they had have mood swings as small fragments break off and go to the brain and cause this. They do get better over time though will always be prone to this unfortunately. ROSEBUD :~ Oh what a sweet and cute dog Niko is I have fallen for him all ready. Lovely looking car as well, what make is it? I am not sure that I recognise it. Most cars here are European in make and ours because of the side of the road we drive on are right hand drive. I would imagine that the majority of our cars are gears rather than automatic. Lemon chicken is very nice indeed I love chinese food I must admit. I also like Indian food also though at the moment my tummy will not permit me too. Bye for now Take care will come by soon. |
 JUST came to check in a bit as we have to get up really early to take my friend to the city tomorrow. We went out to our lot today to pick up our pop-up screen tents (as the mosquitos are roaming about early this year). We checked on things then stopped by my Aunt & Uncles place for a coffee/tea and a chat before coming back home.
We ended up having a late dinner; had leftover BBQ Spit chicken with rice, green beans, cucumber salad, and coleslaw. Had a few phone calls tonight as well so that's why I'm running so late. I have always loved Chinese food, esp the different veggie dishes, garlic ribs, and chicken balls. I haven't tried much Indian food; we don't have any Indian restaurants around here: you would have to go to a large city to find them. PURPLE ~ our newer car is a 1996 GRAND MARQUIS LS (Luxury Sedan) by the FORD company. It has lovely dark rose-burgundy interior; and is in excellent condition inside and out. My Uncle who is a mechanic, says the body is in fantastic shape and it should last us a good while; it actually looks like a brand new car. Yes, most cars here are automatics with electronic computers in them; boy, are we having fun trying to figure out all the bells, buttons & whistles (pun intended) in this newer car. This is the most modern car we've ever had so DH has been trying to get some practice in using it as it is different than the older models. VAL ~ have a grand time down there in Edmonton!!! TAKE GOOD CARE LADIES ~ keeping you in my prayers, PURPLE; your friend :hug:ROSEBUD  |
Hi Ladies and good evening
It has been another warm day here though it has had a nice breeze to go with it. It is suppose to get colder by the weekend, so anyone who has had a holiday this week in the UK has had a very good week weather wise. ROSEBUD :~ We have a Ford cars here in the UK though we do not have that edition that Ford have made. Maybe it is not marketed in the UK. Just read what you have had for lunch that sounds very nice indeed. I have contacted the MS nurse today regarding my problem with my loss of sensation in from my waist down. They said they would speak to the doctor and phone me back. Well I had to go out at lunch time very briefly and low and behold they phones me then. Mum took the phone call and they said they would phone back later. I still did not have a phone call by 3pm so I phoned back and left a message on the answer phone. So by the end of what I presumed was their working day I did not have any answer to what to do or what not to do. So I was a little down by the end of the day as I was no further forward. So I just hope they phone tomorrow and I know what the doctors have said to do. I had a phone call this evening from a lady whom I have struck up a friendship with. Unfortunately the convention treatment for dizziness has not worked and she is having to do to hospital tomorrow to speak to the MS team and start steroid treatment. I know that is a possible route that I may have to go down with my problem. Part of me whats to have the treatment and another doesn't due to the risk of weight gain. Time for me to make tracks for bed as it is now getting rather late and I am shattered now. Catch up with you all soon. |
 HELLO CHICKIES ~ well I managed to wake up first this morning; DH is usually the early bird, but not today. We woke up to pouring rain so I decided to stay home with NIKO as my friend's husband decided to go with them too. They had a safe and short trip; were back just after noon. This was just a consult really; there is much prep before any surgery will take place.
DH made an appointment with our FORD dealer to have our cruise control re-fitted next week when my friend has to go back for some more prep tests. There was a recall of a part in the cruise which finally came in; they are paying for the whole thing to be fixed. PURPLE ~ Hope things get resolved real soon with your doctor tomorrow; so you can start to feel better ... prayers continue for you and your friend!!! WAs on the phone most of the evening again; had sent out prayer requests for my niece to get a job and she was offered two and she picked the full-time one today. Thanks to all the prayer partners for their faithfullness. GONNA get off to bed early, as I was up so early today and now I'm really tired. TAke good care, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
just running by before I crash in bed. Thanks for the pics Rosebud - niko is adorable and the car doesnt look half bad either :) Purple you mentioned something about me being pretty 'go getter' right now. And I just wanted to say. I'm so blessed... I've been able to do this healthy lifestyle and it's totally helped give me endurance with work. I used to be so sickly.. but this summer has gone better than I could have ever thought. Sorry I dont mean to brag. I have had some bad times... when I never thought it would be this good. I didnt get a chance to read all your update but I hope you can find some relief soon. I was in class from 8-5:30 yesterday.... doing math and economics. it was horrible! today was better... despite being a monday. because I got to west edmonton mall.. and was in a Sephora for the first time in my life. the mall is wonderful. I'm glad I bought some orthopedic shoes last month because my balance isnt perfect either... but the person I walked with didnt seem to mind me bumping into her once in awhile. all right. nite! be well friends! |
 HELLO LADIES ~ we had some sunshine today so I put out some laundry on my new line again; gonna take advantage of every sunny morning that I can. It was a lovely day and we had turkey drumsticks with veggies for dinner; very yummy! I'm doing OK on my meals lately, but I must confess that I'm having a problem with my snacking for some reason.
I have been getting cravings for things like chocolate and the like; but the good thing is ... I know that these cravings eventually subside after awhile. In the exercise front, I'm trying to get at least one or two short walks each day; taking NIKO for a walk just after lunch on some days is helpful I think. Did some more spring cleaning; sorting out drawers and cupboards in the kitchen these days. Tossing out stuff that we haven't used in a while; and I did the same with some of my clothes this month too. I'll go at it some more tomorrow; got a bit of mending to do too. Have to get at that or I'll get behind and I don't like that. VAL ~ NIKO is as sweet and fun-loving as his picture shows; he's a regular silly willy!!! Yes, the car is in excellent condition and we feel very blessed to get such a great deal from a friend (who bought a new one this year). I'm not sure what a SEPHORA is, Val. I have one pair of shoes that are better too; the new ones I bought aren't made for long walks. This fall, I will be ordering another pair of the really good ones with the strong supports. PURPLE ~ I hope that you got a call from your doctors today to get some help with your nummy problem. The Grand Marquis is one of the best cars that FORD makes; they run well and are a sturdy car. If they are looked after well, they can last a long time too. WELL, that's all the news for today, take care ladies and have a good night ~ your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
 HELLO LADIES ~ well, we woke up to rain this morning; and it stayed that way until after dinner when for about 2 minutes we had a full giant rainbow, but I couldn't get it all in my digital camera it was so big. Instead, I got half in one pic and the other half in another ~ LOL! Oh well, it was very pretty nonetheless ...
Didn't get too much done other than sorting a few things and baking some muffins for DH. My legs are very swollen this week, so I had to put them up twice today; in a few days, I hope they will be back to normal again. Even DH only went outside a couple of times; the wet cold was yucky today. Other than that, just did the usual daily stuff like cooking and dishes and such. I spent part of the day searching on the net; and DH's old PC died on him this morning (the power pack blew) so we spent some time trying to figure that out. We will just set up my other PC for him; I'll have to spend some time loading up some games for him as that's his favorite thing to do on a computer; he esp loves cards games and he has a few others that he likes to play like Pinball and Starwars stuff. That's a good way to pass some time when it's raining outside. WELL, hope you gals are feeling well; have a good night and a great week too. We are going into town tomorrow to pick up a few things and get that window fixed on the car so it closes properly like it should. Take good care of yourselves, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi ladies
Just a quick drop by as it is very late here but wanted to fill you in on how things were going on. Was contacted by the MS nurses and because I have not had any previous attacks in 9 years I will just have to ride this one out. Though if I get any more symptoms to contact them and let them know. Going off on a different tangent I think I have just heard my DH switch off so I will have to end up saving this and posting in the morning. (He has just gone to bed about 10 minutes ago.) I have been really lucky healthwise regarding my MS when you see other MSer's struggle with attacks after attacks. This has been my first in 9 years so I have been so fortunate. Though it is very scary after all this time to experience these symptoms after such a long period of time of being stable and detiorating slowly. In the beginning when I was initially diagnosed with MS I had problems very similar to these with altered sensations in different parts of my body. I hope this does not go down the same route as that was a difficult time to stay positive as you could see no end in sight at the time. Time for bed for me as I am absolutely shattered been rather busy today and yesterday. Nightie Nightie Ladies  |
Hi ladies
Well back twice in one day lol after my dh pc switched off last night. We are linked up together with the internet. Thanks for keeping the thread going whilst I have been away. Tomorrow mum and dad are going to go home as Dad now can drive as it is a month since the heart attack. It has been a busy time I have enjoyed having them but as we all know having guests make you tired. Mum has been here nearly a month and dad has been here over 2 weeks. We had them come to stay with us so that we could take them out and about if they wanted to. ROSEBUD :~ Sorry to hear that your legs are swelling up. Though you are doing the right thing by elevating them as much as possible. I hope you feel better soon. It must make walking difficult and painful to boot. My dh is spending time playing some of the games on the pc he loves to play them till he gets to the end he hates to be beaten by them. So hence plays hours and hours at them. I have been to the tank today for my treatment so feel a little better at the minute though tired but that is normal. Time for me to go as we are going out soon. Bye bye ladies and take care. |
 HELLO LADIES ~ we had beautiful sunshine yesterday, perfect for going shopping. DH took the car back to the garage to get that window fixed (we had already paid them to fix it for the certification); but the young mechanic couldn't figure it out.
So DH took a look at it when he got home and between us, we figured it out; DH said when he took it apart it worked, so I thought that maybe when the mechanic put it back together something went wrong, and sure enuff that's what it was. DH found that the seals were too tight so the window didn't have free motion; anyhow, it's all fixed for now!!! Yeah! PURPLE ~ glad to see that you are feeling better and going to weather this episode out; the unknown can be harder than the known sometimes. Will continue to pray that this setback won't last too long. DH only uses the games, so I am going to set up my backup PC for him and load in some games for him to play; unfortunately, he may have lost a few games that came with that PC. HI TO VAL ~ hope you had a nice trip and good week too! DH just lit up a bonfire so I'm gonna go watch it for a while; they are expecting rain here all weekend so gotta have it tonight. I'll come back and post later ... take care :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
 I made it back home in one piece. traffic in edmonton was bad today.. but winnipeg traffic was good... and turbulence was only bad on my second flight.... the trip out last weekend was B R U T A L ... even my west jet flight left my stomach in my throat.
i'll come back and catch up soon. happy weekend :) |
 HELLO LADIES ~ WHY did they put the May 24th long weekend a whole week early??? Many people didn't even bother going to their cottages this weekend. It's a long weekend in Canada, but we just stayed home as it has been raining and cold. Today, we did get a tiny bit of sun and partial rainbow late this afternoon ... very pretty!
Was on the phone a lot the last couple of days; my sister had to have emergency surgery on her lower abdomen for a large abcess; poor thing suffering a lot of pain; we are praying like crazy and sent out prayers to a bunch of prayer groups as it will take a while to heal. I also found out she has a 'leaking heart valve' or 'regurgitating valve' that they want to keep an eye on, so they have her on massive antibiotics for infection to protect her heart and speed up recovery too. VAL ~ GLAD you had such a fun trip, but sorry about the transportation; too bad they can't fix that part. Have a nice, long weekend too; now you'll have to rest after your traveling. PURPLE ~ HANG in there girl; gotcha in my sight (prayers) for a quick recovery of your symptoms. You've done so well with your weight loss; you have lots to be proud of; and we're so glad your DAD feels well enuff to go home again!!! We spent most of the day moving and setting up another PC for DH today; now I have to spend hours setting everything up inside too. So, take good care ladies, and have a great weekend, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
Well the weather today does not know what it wants to do, one minute it is cloudy the next sunny. Though we have had no rain as yet. Mum and Dad have gone back home on Friday so the house seems bare without them there. Our dog Rizzie has been sleeping lots since they left as he was like a kid when they were here up at the crack of dawn thinking that they would be up any minute now, not daring to go to sleep in case he missed something. So now he is shattered after a month of those antics. Normally you can not prise him out of the bed in the morning so many times we are up before him as he does not budge if he thinks it is not time to get up. On Friday I saw something a little special I was in the car park of a pub and looked up and saw flying 2 Lancaster bombers from WW2 they look magnificent and have 4 propellers on them. They were doing a special flight over several parts of England that day. We both went out last night to friends for a meal at their house then played our usual games. Firstly cards and then on to 12 spot dominoes oh boy was I in bad form picked up such rubbish :D Though nevertheless had a great time playing those games. It was a nice way to wind down after the last few weeks. No improvement on the numb legs at present so still remain wobbly on those like I have had one or two over the eight ;) Just shortly finished stewing some rhubarb which we are having for tonights tea and I am really looking forward to that. I am rather like stewed fruit to say the least. Going on 2 trips this week for my BIL first being on Monday and the next being on Friday. One is to Chester and the other is to Gwen in Wales. The one to Wales is our longest journey of approximately 3 hours. Though we have a great break the other side going to have a bite to eat and then going to the park to stretch our legs and let Rizzie burn off some steam. I have already made sandwiches for tomorrow and some healthy snacks to take with us. ROSEBUD :~ Thanks for your prayers and words of encouragement. I feel more positive today about the whole thing. I think watching a programme which is about a group of disabled youngsters aged from 16 to 25. They have a variety of disabilities from deafness, cerebral palsy, amputees and dyspraxia. They are undertaking a journey over the Andes and working together they are doing it. Their courage and spirit is amazing. This is the 3rd time that the team leader an ex SAS soldier has lead a group of disabled youngsters over what appears an impossible expedition. This programme shows you that just because you were born or life events made you disabled you are able to achieve great things. It is great at putting disability in a positive light which can only be a good thing. So the programme gave me a good kick up the proverbial and stopped me feeling sorry for myself. Thanks so much for keeping the board going in my absence you have been wonderful and your prayers and encouragement have been invaluable. I am sorry to hear that your sister has had emergency surgery I hope that all goes well and wish her a speedy recovery. VAL:~ Welcome back after your trip. I have only once had a flight like you described and the air turbulence was awful. So I understand the bit about stomach in your mouth. I hope you are well and are managing to get some time to recuperate and recharge those batteries. Must go and make a drink my mouth feels "like the bottom of a budgie cage" ;) Catch up with you all soon  |
 HEY LADIES ~ we just stayed home today and took it easy. We were gonna go for a drive, but it was *** snowing *** on and off today; thankfully, it all melted as it hit the ground and didn't stick around. I actually don't mind the cooler spring, but some people don't like it.
PURPLE ~ Thanks for reminding me about the rhubarb; I don't know if it is ready here yet; my Dad has some on his farm so we want to go raid it and put some down in the freezer too. I love stewed rhubarb too; one of my favorites is cherry/rhubarb pie, but can only have that as a rare treat. That show about the soldier taking the disabled kids on a long trek sounds fabulous; wish we had good shows on like that. Most of the stuff over here is just trash and more trash; so we hardly ever even have the telly on these days. And I don't know what's wrong with our radio: lately all we can get is one hard rock station and one that constantly talks about death in between songs (constant preaching about how to avoid dying). Geepers, I just want to listen to the music; bring back the commercials, please ... I like games too; last summer, I picked up HORSESHOES and maybe will get BOCCI this year. DH tried a game called POOR MAN'S GOLF; it's a homemade game and looks like a lot of fun. I'm trying to get him to make one for us for when family and friends come to visit this summer. We also have ring toss, but I'm not too sure of the rules ~ haha! VAL ~ hope you are feeling OK after your trip; yes, I went to Mexico when I was sixteen and did experience the pressure thing esp in the ears. WELL, we had nice roasted chicken tonight (pieces this time) with sweet potatoes, long green beans, turnip, carrots, celery, onions, and red new potatoes. I made DH an apple bread pudding (with w/w bread) with raisins, putting in much less sugar though: I thought it turned out pretty good myself (hadn't had that in years). I had mine as my snack tonight: yummy!!! WELL, if the weather is good enuff tomorrow, I might start my salad garden with a bit of lettuce, radishes, onion sets, and spinach; all these plants can tolerate some cold, so I'll get a head start. DH set me up two more drum gardens so I don't have to bend over too much this year; I love them as they are so handy. HOPE you ladies all have a great week coming up too. Prayers for good trips for you this week PURPLE; so take good care of yourselves, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
Was coming to put a post on here yesterday but my pc had other ideas as it would not let me connect to the internet. By the time my dh had fixed it for me it was too late for me to consider posting on here. Not sure why I had not touched anything I shouldn't :D For starts my internet security had blocked all and also he ended up making a new connection to the internet. So I think my pc had a gremlin in the works well that the story I am sticking too ;) Though thankfully it is up and working now :carrot: The trip went well yesterday to Chester and dh stopped very regular for me to stretch my legs so I felt OK after the trip. We found both the customers places easily as well. Mine you we were looking for a pubs so that made it easy as signs tend to be big. ROSEBUD :~ Here in the UK when you own a television set then you must have a licence for either a colour or black and white. There is a van that can detect if you have a television and do not have a licence. There is a hefty fine for having a television and not having a licence. It cost $271.23 for a colour licence and $91.42 for a black and white licence. This then goes to the one television station called the BBC (British Brocasting Corporation) and they make television programmes with this. On the BBC they do not show advertistments so hence they raise funds by this licence. There is no way out of paying for a licence even if you do not watch this station. We have 5 stations in all on television if you want anymore then you pay for cable or satellite. Three of the other stations fund their programmes by advertistments. Though the BBC do have some excellent documentaries such as No boundaries over the Andes. I think as they are spending public money they are of a good quality. Another programme from the BBC at the minute is called Wild China and that is a documentary in several parts showing the diverse plants and flowers and also wild life many of which is unique to China. It is amazing the footage they must have spent so much time just filming one shot let alone the entire programme. Your meal that you had last night sounds rather nice especially the apple bread :D Sounds like you are going to be busy in the garden planting the new season of crops. Best get my body into gear as I am suppose to be going out to lunch with my BIL at 12 noon and I am not ready yet. I can not have my dh beating me to get ready ;) bye ladies and take care. |
 HELLO CHICKIES ~ I was gonna post yesterday too, but by the time I came here, it was getting late and I started to fall asleep at the helm, so-to-speak; haha! We ended up having snow all day yesterday and woke up to some on our green grass this morning. Then the sun came out, so I thought 'goodie, I'll get some laundry on the line'. Well, got a blanket out there, and by the time the second load was ready, it was snowing again ...
ANYHOW, I just left the blanket on there and it did dry by late afternoon; and I had to dry the rest in the dryer. Well, at least it all melted, so it's all gone. Fed my birdies and we did a good clean up today: floors and such. I transcribed and edited some songs yesterday and today; that takes up a lot of time, but I love it. We had a lovely dinner of steak (DH had a pork chop) with my favorite mushrooms and onions with a few leftover veggies, plus asparagus tips, mixed rice, and coleslaw with cukes; and I was stuffed!!! I made sure to make lots so I could have some leftover for my lunch tomorrow (Amanda's idea). This is one of my most favorite meals and when the warm weather comes we have it at least once a week. PURPLE ~ glad you had a great trip; sorry about the PC problems. We had some here too, but I have the spare PC up and running for DH now; I still have a few more games to download for him that this machine can take as it has more memory than the old one. DH says that it is much faster and more challenging for him; good, that'll keep him busy ... hehe! Gee, I don't like that telly system you have; that's a high price just to be able to use your TV. DH would toss the telly. We don't pay for the few channels on the basic TV; but if you want more you have to pay for cable or satellite. We don't have that becuz we don't watch TV enuff to warrant the high cost of it. I'm glad that we can at least get something from the net and the government stations, esp in a emergency. We only have dial-up internet, but a friend was saying that if we had high-speed (which costs more), we could get some programs on the PC. But they're not doing anymore high-speed connections for awhile, so we were told, but we're not sure why; seems odd to me ... NIKO is getting bigger; I think it's all that Alpo and Puppy Chow with its mega-vitamins. So much for a small dog :nono:, not so!:( Well, he's learning his lessons pretty good but you still have to watch him as he likes to get into things. He keeps us hopping, but that's OK; he had a couple of puppy tantrums, but that seems to be gone now. I think when all is said and done that we'll have a good buddy. DH isn't happy to learn that he's a 'SHEDDER' as his job is to vacuum the livingroom rug. Our girls were non-shedders, so this is going to be an adjustment. DH had to clean the rug twice today as it's shedding season (spring time); he wasn't a happy camper this morning, but he took it in stride considering. Let's see, we wanted a small, quiet, meek, non-shedding new puppy; and we got a big, noisy, shedding, obstinate, teenager puppyish-dog! LOL! Yah, just what we wanted ... hahaha on us! I told DH you can just thank your friends once more (cuz that's what he did when they brought him and for days later). PS ~ I also told DH 'well, you always wanted a son, so there you go; and he's just what I would have expected too ... a little rascal!' Hehe ...;) VAL ~ hope you are having a good week back at work; and it's getting very near to that closing date for the house. You must be getting very excited about it. Hope you are feeling well. ANYWAYS ~ this is getting long, better get off here. DH has to go to the city tomorrow to take some friends to the hospital for tests again and then again next week too; they are keeping him busy. Take good care ladies, from your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Good morning Ladies and hi
It seem so strange to hear that snow is still falling as we do not get any at this time of year and we have managed to eat outside on a couple of occasions. There is something rather nice about dinning el fresco. This weekend is a bank holiday one as it is a public holiday on Monday. Once upon a time the only people really who worked public holidays were the emergency services. Though now not so many get the opportunity for a day off they get a day in lieu. The kids also break up this Friday for just over a week. Had a rather nice lunch yesterday with my BIL it was so nice to catch up with him and have a bit of a chin wag. Today is my weekly shopping day so last night I prepared my shopping list which I inevitably forget :D then have to try and remember what I put on it. ROSEBUD :~Yes my dog is a shedder to but fortunately it is not so visable on my carpet so I do not have to hoover twice a day. Every couple of days or so. Though I think sometimes when I hoover it is a competition between the dog and me which hoovers up the most hairs :D. With me being very long haired any hairs lost is very apparent when it goes up the hoover. I have a dyson hoover so I can see everything that goes up the hoover as it as a clear cylinder where all the bits go instead of the traditional bag. When we both had the internet in the beginning we had dial up though now with deals here in the UK you can get broadband very reasonable. So we have had one of those deals and overtime we have had free upgrade to a bigger speed. With the bigger speed I have now joined on and linked up and made a network with my husbands pc. So we share the same internet like firms do but on a much smaller scale ;) Yes feeding our dog is rather expensive I think manufactors of the food have us over a barrel they know we have to feed them so hence can charge what they like. I am going to have to go and get dressed now I am sitting here in my night clothes having just had my breakfast. Hi to VAL  Bye ladies catch up with you soon and take care  |
