Brad fixed 2 AC units-one at the church before the service and a customer.
The new tenant came and wants the apt-PTL. he sure is a character. Love his dog-a small lab mix.
2 appointments in Worcester-25 miles away. May try to see where the new court house is so Friday I won't be lost. I have to be there at 8. I also have to call the day before-it sure would be a blessing not to go. Jury duty.
Supposed to get the new mattress today. Brad will have to ask someone to help him in the back.
I am hurting and my stomache is too. I have been drinking a second cup of coffee. No more.
I hope your problem gets better soon, meme,
Hey Anne-time to rest-you must be hurting too.
Hi Joanne and Tammy. And Candace!! Mima

Tammy 06-09-2008 07:30 PM

Our AC was fixed on Friday. I am sooooooooooooo glad! It has been in the 90's with high humidity. Hard to breathe. Bob is freezing with it on. He sits with jeans and a sweatshirt on, and usually has a blanket over him. He is still using the electric blanket at night. That's one thing we will discuss with the liver specialist on the 20th. Tim and I have talked, and we think the disease is progressing. Just little signs that we are seeing. Blood work this week. I wanted Bob to change his appointment to sooner, but he doesn't see the need.

Tim's girlfriend lives on the other side of Indiana. She was supposed to come over tonight, but she wouldn't get here till about 10:00 since she had to work. Tim was supposed to work till 8. She called a little after 4, and she said she was already on her way. She took off work at 3. She was going to surprise Tim! She would be here about 6:40. That would give her time to take a shower, etc. before Tim got home. Guess who pulled in at 6:30??? Tim got off work at 6:00! I texted Lauren real quick to let her know that he was already here. I was trying to get him to go to the grocery for me, but I guess I'm not very convincing. lol I did convince him to come into the back room and check the weather for Lauren's drive. That's where he was when she got here. I went to the front door and quietly let her in. What a hoot!!!!!! I'm so proud of myself for keeping it a surprise!!!

Mima, praise the Lord about your friend not needing chemo or radiation! Hope your new tenant works out better than the last one!!!

Joanne, I'm glad you are staying in. It is just too hot to be out. I am also afraid of the bill for the AC.

Meme, glad that you heard from Candice. Was the AC under warranty? Hope so. I pray that things become less stressful for you.

Mima 06-10-2008 05:59 AM

Brad got 3 calls yesterday and he had planned to do something else. But he will stick around today-last day of heat wave.
Is Bob anemic??? Or have low thyroid?? 2 good questions for doc. That is so hard on you both. Really funny about Tim. Hope none odf those storms come near you.
We got our pillow top mattress and it seems so hard-of course compared to the water bed it would. I hope it;s good for me. I helped a little so I hurt today, PT at 8:30/ Skin doc sprayed my wart. OUCH! But it's going away. Then I went to gyno. He asked me if I wanted to go off Prempro, Did that and it was horrible. But I may try to cut down. Can't take the other stuff because it's soy-based and I am allergic to soy.
Today i will try to find some money in Brad's books that he didn't charge for. If I don't -than it's going to a good place-the retreat place.
Tonight we are going to a discussion about reverse mortgages. We won't do it yet-just want to know about it and the fees associated with it.
Bye for now-Mima-Stay cool!!

Candicej 06-11-2008 03:54 AM

Don't fall off your chairs gals;) It's me..Candice...I only have internet connections at the new house and am down for the night busy with picking out stuff, will get no sleep and go with son in the morning to do more and then back home untill I have to come down again. Most of my packing at the old house is done:encore: Never buy a home without looking at it several times and never at night!!!!! We loved the location and at the time it was the only home available and now there are tons of them:dizzy: Too many things to fix on top of the move is very stressful but I am doing ok, mentally and physically.......:yay:
Could lose about 10 pounds:)

Meme, thanks for updating the gals for me, so you have a non-barking dog that smokes cigars while peeing:D We have a non-smoking barker:D

Tammy, that mess up with the meds could have really done some damage, good you caught it....men they are really babies in an adult body!

Joanne..hope your knees improve without surgery.

Mima...what kind of job has you away from Brad? I missed that part:?:

Happy....moving again, you need to come help me! How many grandkids ya got now?

Better go, not used tot his new computer yet and it has taken me a long time to post:o I will be back but not on a regular basis yet, just wanted to touch base now that I have a computer that will load the site.

Mima 06-11-2008 05:48 AM

Wow-so good to here from you, Candace. Did your son become a doctor yet??? Inquiring minds want to know.
Woke up early with a pain in my ear-from the bad air and eating wheat!! Bad Mima. we went to a seminar on reverse mortgages and they had th most delectable sandwiches. Crime does not pay-achy-achy. My allergies cause pseudo arthritis-my aunt gets pseudo gout, We are a strange bunch.
I correct the MA teacher test-love that job because of my friends. been doing it for 9 and a half years. Only problem is the food-I have to bring my own.
Wow-Brad got some good jobs from the heat wave. Of course he put 90 worth of gas in the truck, You don't get relief from that til you file taxes next year. But sometimes he charges them extra for gas if he can't recoup it in another way, I salt the money away for our spending money in FL. Not there yet.
Glad it will be cooler today,
Be good=Sure glad I am not moving. Couldn't if i wanted to.
Bye Mima

Joanne D 06-11-2008 10:11 AM

Hey There

Candice- Wow ! so nice to hear from you again..I also have a barker.. She doesn't want anyone or thing to move on her block..You must have got a good deal with the interest rates what they are now on homes..We bought our house about 48 years ago at 41/2 percent.. for 13,000. It is worth a lot more now..Keep in touch
Mima- Still hot here. Would you believe it is raining all around Tarpon Springs ,none here.I don't like the idea of reverse morgages.. They wanted to do that at the bank when we went in to renue(sp) a cd.. Only it was with the money of the cd.. Then they told us that at the end if we died that they would give only a certain amount to kids.. They kept the rest.. I laughted them out of the bank. No deal..We took our money and went home...What a scam!!
Meme- Hope your stress level has come down... Mine seems to stay on track .. I always have something to get me going.. Christie is getting better ,but, she still wants to rule the house. I read where pugs are like that..We still have to crate her when we go off or to bed.. She gets bored easy..
Tammy- Hope the report on your hubby is good.. Being realistic may be more the answer..Men do not do well when they are sick.. Mine is a big baby at times. It seems that the least little thing ,he thinks I have resolve..He will just sit back in a rocker and sleep it away..Do nothing for himself unless I nag him to death..
Hello Happy- Hope you are settled by now.. Moving is not a cup of tea..
Joanne

MemeToo 06-11-2008 04:49 PM

So far my hubby hasn't been sick too much ... knock on wood. I don't know if I could stand him if he got really sick. He got a touch of arthritis (so said the Dr.) in his elbow back a couple of years ago and nearly drove me nuts with it. He said he didn't know how I stood it in my whole body. He was up walking the floor at night with it in just one joint ... bless his heart! ;) It finally got better. I don't think it was arthritis, I think he had tennis elbow ... but then what do I know? :p But he does have a pretty level head on his shoulders about other stuff. He doesn't just sit back and wait for me to resolve things. On the other hand, he's not one to rush into decisions or fly off the handle, either. I guess, with our temperments, we about break even and keep each other on track. Even if he does drive me crazy sometimes! :p

As for the dog ... that's another matter altogether. She is really ... different. And that's putting it mildly. :D I've been sitting out on my deck a lot lately and now she thinks she has to be in a chair beside me when we're outside. She won't lay on the deck like a 'normal' dog. And at night, while we're watching TV or reading, if she needs to go out she'll jump in our laps and smack us in the face with her paw. I'd much rather she jump on the door or something. She is rotton.

Mima ... that's why I'm afraid to change from a water bed to a regular mattress. Let me know how you like yours. I thought about getting a select comfort but I love my water bed and I don't know if I'd like to change. It's good to have 'sock' money, huh?

Candice, I'll be so glad when you get this move behind you. You'll be so tired you won't be able to do anything for months. As I said, I wish we could just sit down and 'talk'!!! Wouldn't that be great? Maybe someday.

Tammy, so you're cool again. I'd hate to think about our air going out now as hot as it is. I hope Bob is feeling better by now. I bet Tim was surprised the other night.

Well, I have to go see if I can get a couple of hours of work done. I've had Ross and Jenna since 8:30 and I didn't get anything done today. Sad. I used to be able to do whatever I wanted when my kids were home but now ... guess I'm just getting too old to have kids!

Tammy 06-11-2008 06:05 PM

Mima, I'll mention anemia and low thyroid to the doctor next week. What did you learn about reverse mortgages? I've heard of them, but I don't know anything about them.

Hey Candice!! Glad to hear you are doing ok!!! Stress from moving can do a number on a person.

Joanne, why does it always rain around Tarpon Springs???? You need rain too!

Meme, lol to hubby driving you crazy at times. I can relate! I also had to laugh about the dog. Whenever I was on the porch, Kramer would be right beside me on the glider.

Bob's feet, ankles, and legs are swollen pretty bad. I told him he should go to the family doctor, and maybe he could give him some advice. I figure he would up his diuretic meds. They had reduced those a few months ago. Bob doesn't want to go there. Frustration here!!!!

Joanne D 06-11-2008 06:51 PM

Hey There

Tammy in my years of nursing I took care of patients with the same illness as your Bob. Water retension was one of the main symptoms. Bob should see his dr. about this. Yes we need the rain very bad.. The hubby keeps thinking it is going to rain and the grass is drying up.I keep telling him to put on the water.. We have a well..
Meme- Christie wants to sit in my chair with me too. We bought her a nice pillow at sams. All she wants to do with it is chew it up..And she doesn't lay on it while she chews it. We put it away. Maybe when she reachs 2 things will change. At least that is what I have been told. When she wants to go outside she stands and stares at me.No getting around it she knows what she wants..
Hello everybody...Joanne

Mima 06-12-2008 05:08 AM

As far as the mattress goes-I am not sure. It's a Simmons pillow top but it is too hard. The one in the store was much softer . Brad loves it so I am thinking of something to put under it on my side of the bed. Foam??? I will ask my massage lady.
I feel for you Tammy about Bob going to the doc. When is his other appt.
As far as the reverse mortgage, if you want to stay in your house and can't make ends meet-it can help. There is money up front and then interest but it comes off your equity in the house, Then when you are gome from your house they take the money back and you or your heirs get the rest. I have no idea what they were talking about using your cd money. It's a way of getting money that you need-you have to get rid of the idea that you will leave it all to your kids. There was a 93 year old lady at our church in Fl whe was desperate for money and just wanted to leave it to her well-off niece. Very sad. When we inherited 28,000 from Brad's mom-we spent it very soon-we didn't waste it but..............But we don't need to do that yet. It';s just that Brad will lose my pension if I go first and he MAY need the money.
Had fun shopping yesterday at the Salvation Army where things were half price and another low price store. I needed shorts etc.
Sure hope I don't have to go to jury duty-it's so far-have to call at 3. Mima

Joanne D 06-12-2008 09:42 AM

Hey There

Mima- We suffered with a expensive mattress for years, dumb. Our daughter bought us a memory foam topper 4 in. They come in 2 in,4in,6in. It was the best thing she has ever give us..No more pain all night.. It is the hubby who thinks everything should be left to kids. He used to think everything should be left to son.. I changed that thinking..He is GREEK . They believe that way..Old world. Our kids have much more than we will ever have or have had.
Hello everybody..Got lots to do.. W/m Gro, and Tops tonight..
Joanne

Happy Canuk 06-12-2008 07:13 PM

Hi everybody. I have finally made it back. Got connected yesterday afternoon and then the cable went down in this area. Go figure.

Mima - good that you found somebody to rent the apartment. That is good, now let's hope he pays. Hope you feel better today. I do hope you can get out of that Jury Duty. Here, they don't like to let you go. Get a memory foam mattress. I got mine at Costco and it is 2.5 inches thick. I love it. No sweating either. We had a Sealy mattress extra firm. Used to wake up so darn sore, we finally got us a Simmons BeautyRest and it is great.

Tammy - I hope Bob isn't getting worse. That isn't something to look forward to. A friend of ours has Cirrosis of the Liver and he is very thing. This fellow worked with my hubby for several years. He had quit drinking 14 years prior, but it caught up to him in the end. Good surprise for Tim.

Joanne - I would absolutely LOVE to send you some rain. Feels like it has been raining for a month. No more drought! Everything is lush and green.

Meme - I hope you are able to rest some. Looking after kids keeps one busy. I hope they fix the air and that it is under warrenty.

Candice - so nice to see you here. That was a great surprise. I hope you are feeling good and able to do the move slowly. It really does help.

We moved in on the past weekend and things are pretty much in place. Just had to go back and clean up the other suite. That was a lot of work, and I am still NOT done. We will go tonight and get it finished. Another hours work. It is looking good. It really wasn't very hard to clean, but you do have to clean EVERYTHING. The carpets will get cleaned sometime next week. We aren't allowed to do them outselves, as they need to be disinfected, so they tell us.

The new place is really nice. I love it. The building has 63 suites, but there are only 7 that are occupied. They are trying to pave the parking lot out front, but it keeps on raining. Slowly, things will come together - I hope. It is a bit messy outside here to say the least. At least I have AIR, but we haven't had to even think about using it.

This is enough for today. Every muscle in my body hurts and I need to go let them relax. Catch you all tomorrow.

Mima 06-13-2008 06:12 AM

I can imagine you are sore, Anne. Your new place sounds so nice. You will love the air even if you don't use it all the time. It takes the humidity out. Ours is getting fixed in FL tomorrow by the people from church. The guy called Brad last night for some advice on someone's AC.
I didn't have to go to jury duty-Now I am done because I am turning 70.
I am going to call Auntie and see if she wants to go out to eat. She still has no energy, I do not like the insurance she has. They have a reputation from some people but others love it.
Now I have to get used to the medicare system beginning July 1. We also have Medex as our secondary insurance. It would be nice if they would send us a brochure!!
I have such a pain in my shouder, I have a bag of frozen peas on it right now. It molds to my shoulder.
I don't know how Father's Day is going to turn out for Brad-I asked Angela and Brett to come for a cookout but she informed me that they had other arrangements. And Bobby's girlfriend has a father And Suzanne is busy running to CT to see her hubby. I prayed about it. Angela sure rubs me the wrong way -I have to pray about her. She rules the roost so Brett goes along with her. I actually do the same thing-Brad goes along with me but I do try to keep all parties in mind most of the time. A long time ago ALL the families got together but that is unusual. We sort of did that on Mother's Day with Bobby and Pam because she thinks like that. She definitely will be a good dil.
Called Stanley steamer to clean the rugs next week-they are good,
Bye for now Mima Sure hope the situation improves with Bob, Tammy!

Tammy 06-14-2008 07:03 PM

Bob went for bloodwork on Thursday. We got the results yesterday. The liver enzymes are even more elevated than they were. We go to the liver specialist on Friday. I am trying to stay positive, but it is difficult after seeing the test results. I have no idea what I should expect as it gets worse.

Joanne, Kramer used to stand and stare at me when he wanted to go out too! Wish we could send you some of the rain we've had. There is water standing in all of the fields around. I've thought about one of those memory foam toppers. How does that work with the fitted sheet?

Mima, thanks for the info on the reverse mortgage. Congrats on no jury duty!!

Anne, glad the move is behind you now! Enjoy the new place!!

Tim has to work 11-7 tomorrow, so we don't have anything big planned for Father's Day. I do have a roast for the crock pot, just hope Bob feels like eating it. He isn't eating much at all. Our 27th anniversary is Thursday.

Candicej 06-15-2008 04:56 AM
