edema aka water retention
Anyone else "suffering" from water retention....Do "skinny" people also suffer from that...I am having a real difficult time with this lately. Moved to the Sonoran Desert 7 months ago. Today the weather is 42C or 115F (more or less) and it's only going to go up. My feet, ankles and hands are so swollen. Exercising is the very last thing on my mind right now....suggestions anyone???

I think the first thing you should do is see a DOCTOR to make sure there isn't a serious physical cause (ie, like diabetes), esp since you are swollen in so many places. I have a friend around the same weight as you who gets swollen ankles and feet: she has lots of health problems and is under a physician's care.
I used to have swollen feet and calves, but my feet are now better as I wear slippers all the time and that helped. For my calves, I lay with them elevated about 1-2 hours each day and that really helps. I also take vitamin B6 supplement as that helps get rid of excess water naturally (Swiss brand). I also cut down my salt use and that helps; and I am on Metformin and that may be helping a bit. My friend wears special stockings to help prevent the swelling, but they are expensive; but she says they work for her. For me getting off my feet and putting them up has worked the best. BUT, as I said before, please get a professional opinion as there could be an underlying cause that the DOCTOR could help you with ... :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
