HELP, I am on Armour thyroid and GAINING WEIGHT FAST!!! - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community

I need some help, I was on synthroid for years, I still didnt feel "right" so I convinced my dr to let me try Armour Thyroid for 6 months. I have been on it for over a month now and while I "feel" better, (I take 2 grains BTW) I have GAINED like 10lbs!!! NO KIDDING in 5 weeks! I know my "diet" is a bit "off" but not enough to justify 10lbs in a month! HELP!!!!
I dont go back to the dr for like 2 weeks for blood work

You can always call your doctor in between visits and voice your concern!

I agree. Call the doctor. It is TOO hard to lose with a thyroid condition to let it go. Better to get it checked out now then to wait and have twice that much to lose.

I agree, but my dr is over an hour away and I cant just stop in...I guess I know a lot of it is water weight, but I was curious if anyone else has had something like this happen? What can cause it? I will call him today to let him know and get my appt scheduled, maybe he will have some insite to this. THANKS!

OK I Went to the DR and officially as of last time I went and was prescribed the Armour I only gained 3lbs, but I have just lost 5lbs on MY scale also, it was TOUGH too. He is testing my cholesterol and my T3 and T4, and something else. I will let you know the results. I got my allergy shot also...whew what a relief!!!!!! I should know tomorrow most of the results, but the T3 they send to the Mayo Clinic so that will take a week or so.

OK I got my results, I WAS LOW...(as suspected).

they have upped my Armour to 3 grains rather than the 2, and I go back again in 4-6 weeks for another check. Good thing, my cholesterol is good! I have never had it checked so I didnt know what to expect there....
