Good morning.

Tammy, sending you lots of big, Soft hugs. This is NOT going to be easy. One of my neighors had Cirosis of the liver and NEVER had a drop of alcohol in his life. He also had cancer of the liver.

I hope you are able to soon get some rest. I am sure all this stress has caused everything to flare a bit. Glad that they are keeping him a few extra days. Only your hubby can decide the path he wishes to take. Keeping you all in my prayers, Tammy.

I certainly don't believe all alcoholics are abusive. Also, they don't all drink in the morning. A lot of people believe, that because they drink only beer, that they are not and cannot become alcoholics. Sadly, that is a mistake. My uncle was a "beer" alcoholic.

Meme - nice to see you back. Have missed you.

Mima - I guess I am like Mima. I don't agree with the acting sad part either. COMMUNICATION is one of the most important tools that we have. Certainly, I agree with not nagging, but everybody in your family is affected, not just your hubby.

Joanne - hope you got the rain you wanted. It is cool here and maybe some snow flurries on the way, at least in the mountains and foothills.

Everybody have a great day. I am heading off to work today.

Tammy 09-18-2007 10:05 AM

Meme, I pretty much knew this was coming from tests he had done last spring. He had been told to stop drinking. I haven't bugged him about the drinking, BUT I have told him that we need to get our cemetary plots and tombstone picked out just in case. Mean, aren't I??? If he does start drinking again, I'm not sure how I'll handle it. He told the doctor yesterday that he thinks he's going to get me a baseball bat to keep around the house to use on him. The doctors are pleased with the support that he is receiving. They said many people come in that bad, and they have no one.

Mima, right now, Bob wants to talk to our pastor instead of going to any support group. I may have already said that our pastor's father, brother, and sister were all alcoholics, so he is very familiar with what it does to a family.

Well, I need to get moving. I'm finishing up a load of laundry, and I'm trying to straighten things up around here. I've kind of let things go. I plan to leave for the hospital about 11:00. That will get me there at noon. It's a long drive, but I turn on the radio and sing my fool head off. Do you guys ever listen to K-Love? Christian radio? I also listen to a local Christian station. In a few weeks I am helping with the fall shareathon for the local station. I'll be answering phones and taking pledges. Should be fun!

Thanks for all of the prayers. I do believe that the prayers are helping!!

Mima 09-19-2007 06:04 AM

Tammy-I think that the whole situation is going in the right direction.I was thinking of you this morning when I read a meditation page that said to look at how great God is-not at the situation. I surely need that too. I remember that my mother had an infection in her liver from drinking cheap wine and that my brother got some crazy disease in his liver from beer and they said it was genetic.
Still recovering from doing all that walking at the Big E. we don't have to do that again.
Going to finish the baby quilt today. Shower on Sunday.
Tammy-you are doing great-Christian music always gives me comfort.Mima

Joanne D 09-19-2007 07:20 PM

Hey There

Tammy- I hope this was just a wakeup call for your hubby and that he can stop drinking.. I lived around alcohol all my life.my mother was a bad alcoholic. She was not a nice person when she was drinking.. So in that respect that your hubby was good and didn't hurt you or himself you are lucky..I pray he can get well..
Meme- Do you still have your poodle? Christie is a year old this month.. She is still very much a puppy.. I am told she will not really mature till she is almost 2 yrs..I try to walk her 3 miles every day half in the morning and half at night..That way she is getting rid of some of that excess energy..The walk helps me and my nerves too.
Mima- You are always talking about making baby quilts.. Do you do them on the machine?
Happy we are getting some light rain... We hope to get more tomorrow.. But, untill we see it we didn't get it!!!This area seems to always miss out..I live a mile from the Gulf of Mexico..It usually passes right over and out to the gulf.
Joanne

Mima 09-20-2007 06:00 AM

Well, this quilt was a hurry up job-already printed on some cute material-I just hand-quilted the lines on it and sewed it together. People keep having babies!!!!Now I will have to make one for Angela's baby-I can take my time on that one.
My cousin got taken to the hospital the other night with kidney stones-and she was supposed to be at parent's night last night! I hope she is better today-I will call Auntie-she's her daughter that she lives with.
My daughter just got a dog-3 year old beagle -female -mix. I wonder how the cats will like that.
I am guessing Bob comes home today-What an ordeal! Hope you all readjust well.
My gf's daughter, who just went to college, is having a terrible time because. in the middle of her adjusting to being away , and all her friends scattered everywhere, her bf broke up with her. The college has been wonderful- a counselor has stepped in and also other people. My gf had to go there yesterday.
Chiro today-am catching up on bills etc. Mima

Tammy 09-20-2007 09:40 PM

Anne, you and I must have been typing our messages the other day at the same time! My cousin's mother in law died last winter of cirr. of the liver. She never drank. When I was telling her bob's symptoms last week, she was horrified since they had just gone through that. She's a nurse, so she understands more of this stuff than I do.

Mima, bob's dad had liver problems and didn't drink, so I think bob had some of those same problems and we didn't know it. The beer and all of the Tylenol he has taken over the years did the rest of the damage.

Joanne, bob has never been mean to Tim or me. He gets grumpy sometimes, but nothing bad. I'm sorry that you had to live around someone who was mean.

I talked to 2 doctors today. They both said bob will be coming home tomorrow! They couldn't guarantee a time, but that's ok!!!! I have a chiro appt in the morning. She is really helping with the stress and tension that I"ve had these two weeks. They play all Christian music in their office, and she and I have been on an Emmaus Team together in the past. Wonderful lady.

Tim will be home after his last class tomorrow, so he'll be here to help out over the weekend. I know our pastor will be here sometime over the weekend. I told Tim that he and I will leave so he and bob can have some privacy.

Thanks for all of your prayers ladies!!! It has helped so much!!!! Just knowing that I have you to spill my guts to has helped me.

Happy Canuk 09-21-2007 12:39 AM

Tammy, I hope you get Bob home and that he will start to get better. It won't be easy for any of you, I am sure. Glad that Tim is going to be home for the weekend to help you out. Alcohol and tylenol are so lethal! I worry about my brother, as he drinks and takes tylenol like candy. Also, he is a diabetic and has heart problems. So far no known liver problems.

I don't know much about alcoholics as I have never been around them (except my brother, and I would have gleefully choked him many years ago:lol:

I am glad you can find comfort in Christian music and that your chiro is good for you. That really helps a lot. My prayers are with you and your family.

Mima - I feel sorry for your cousin. I am quite sure that kidney stones are very, very painful. Hope they can dissolve them. Babies, babies, babies - you have lots of new ones in your family. Such treasures they are.

I am tired tonight. Been working to many hours and I should just say NO!!! Next week, only 2 days and I am happy about that. This week has been everyday, 3 full days and 2 half days. I DON"T WANT TO WORK EVERYDAY!!

Hopefully my glasses will be ready soon. I am wearing my old ones and that precription is 5 years old. I can see, but not as clearly as I would like, especially on the computer.

Got the results of my mammogram and bone scan and all is well.

Hi Joanne and Meme. Hope you two are doing well today.

MemeToo 09-21-2007 02:55 AM

Joanne, yes ... still have Ginger. She has her moments. She was 9 mos. old the 10th of this month. She will go for a couple of weeks with no slip-up and just when I think she is totally housebroken and I don't have to worry about her anymore, she has a little 'accident'. Then there are the times when she sneaks down in the basement and gets one of my rubber stamps I used when I was teaching and chews it up or gets in my plants. They are like little "terrible-twos" toddlers. You have to watch them every minute ... always into something. But ... it's interesting around here ... never a dull moment. And she's sweet and cuddly, I love her, and the kids all love her, too.

Tammy, glad Bob's coming home. I'm still praying for him and for you, too. I'm sure you will both do fine. You love each other and that's what matters most! You'll get through this.

Going to a women's conference tomorrow night and Sat. from 9 to 4 with daughter. Got the schedule in the mail yesterday ... some interesting sessions. Can't decide which ones I want to sign up for. Lisa Harper is speaking at 6 tomorow night. She's really good. I'm looking forward to the weekend ... hope you all have a good one, too.

Mima 09-21-2007 06:22 AM

Wow for that conference. Meme. Sounds good.
God is with you, Tammy. I am glad he is coming home today. And that Tim is coming home.
I have been around too many alcoholics. Don't know what's happening with my younger brother-he was worried he didn't have a job. I sure hope he is going to AA.
We have the apt in the paper but it's not ready yet. Trying to get a feel about anyone interested. It sure is going to be nice. Very white but they can paint it if they want. Floor going in next week.
Women's bible study about the promises of God. Yeah.
Waiting for a check that was due a month ago from money owed to Brad. She will go ballistic if we call. It's half paid.
Suzanne got the cutest dog-3 years old and part beagle but it doesn't look like a beagle. She was going to rename her.
Bye for now-Mima
ps-my chiro gave me an article on IBS. Besides probiotics and digestive enzynes-it mentions seratonin. And magnesium which gives me pains. I will try anything.

Happy Canuk 09-22-2007 11:36 AM

Good morning. Nice a fresh outside today, only 34egrees, but sunny. Good day to do some housework. Got all my venetian blinds cleaned last weekend, so will putz around doing other jobs today.

Meme - enjoy your conference. Sounds interesting.

Mima - Hope you get the apt. rented soon. When are you leaving for Florida?

Tammy - hope you got Bob home and settled. It will be far easier on you, than travelling back and forth to the hospital.

Joanne - It's good you have the dog, as it gets you out walking. Hope your knee has been better the past while, because it is so hard to walk when it hurts.

Here's some interesting trivia for you.

Mima 09-23-2007 06:54 AM

How cute, Anne. I have a lot of friends who are English majors and they would love that.
Hope you are well, Tammy.
I ate ice cream last night-took 3 lactaids but still had a stomache ache. But not bad.
Suzanne is not going to the baby shower-so I am driving acroos the whole state on this non-highway, listening to my Christian music while Brad goes to Springfield with his niece-to see his sister.
One young lady called about the apt-someone with the highest pitched voice. I think it was a bit too expensive for her.
We went to a concert at church-Ernie Couch and the Revivals. I like 2 of the singers. My gf and her husband went with us. We are going to share the driving to go to work-one week her and one week me. I usually like to bring my car but I really like her so it will be nice.
Bye for now, Mima-if I don't show up, I will be lost in RI-not really as I have a GPS.

Mima 09-24-2007 05:59 AM

Nobody to respond to! Sure hope all of you are well-Tammy how is it going??
Drove to Woonsocket-3 hours is all to go to the shower-daughter decided she couldn't go but it was just as well because she wouldn't have had the patience to stay there for 3 hours. It wasn't a big shower but bf's mother had it decorated beautifully.
We rented the apt-a nice young man from Canada who has certain requests which will only better the apt. He was called to work in the area-computer person. Loved it because it's brand new.
Off to work-so glad gf is picking me up-I am exhausted after yesterday. Mima

Tammy 09-24-2007 10:02 AM

Hi everyone!! Sorry I haven't posted. Bob was able to come home late Friday afternoon. It has been pretty busy around here. I decided that when he naps, I will too. That way maybe I can keep going. He had gained almost 50 pounds from the fluid build up, not sure that I told you that. From Sat. to this morning, he is down 10 pounds on our scales, so I think things are moving in the right direction. It is wonderful having him home.

Anne, glad to hear about your mammo and bone scan. Always a relief, isn't it? I loved the trivia that you sent!!!

Meme, I can't believe Ginger is that old already! Seems like only yesterday that you got her.

Mima, I guess you didn't get lost! lol Glad you found someone for the apartment!!! Big relief, huh?

Bob is napping, so I should be too. Decided to catch up on here first. Even the dog is napping!!!! I have a chiro appt. later today, a nutrition class given by the chiro, and then water aerobics. Bob said he'd be ok by himself, but I might change my mind about doing everything. Also have to exchange the shoes that I bought him. They aren't big enough since his feet are so swollen.

Have a great day everyone!

Joanne D 09-24-2007 11:20 AM

Hey There

Hello Everybody... I spent part of sat in the vets office . I noticed that something was wrong with Christies left back leg.. She has a problem with the knee joint. It slips out of joint.. They said she probably was born that way.. They said if she can't deal with it and get it back when it goes out that we may have to have surgery on it..OUCH! So far she has been able to get it back when it happens. No walking for her for 2 weeks except in house and outside to go to B/R..This I didn't need..
Tammy- I hope things are working for the better for you and hubby.
Mima, Happy- This has been a fairly quiet weekend.. We went out to a family dinner for great nephews 18th B/D.. The kid got a bid surprise... The dinner was nice and we got to see most of the family..
Meme- Christie is 1 year old the 26th this month.. I still have about another year till she is settled down and more mature... She has been house broke for sometime. So far no accidents in a long while.. I better go take her out befor she makes a fibber out of me.
It has been a little rainy.. Not as much as we need.. Now they are saying the rain season is about over.. I see why some peopleput all rocks in their yards.. The weeds still pop up though..
Joanne

Tammy 09-25-2007 05:18 AM

Joanne, poor Christie! Keep us posted on how she is doing. Glad you are getting a little rain, but I wish you were getting more. Bob's niece moved to Tampa several years ago from Key West. When looking for a house, she wanted one with no grass in the front yard so she didn't have to worry about it. We were there the end of July, and her yard has rocks, a variety of plants, and as she says "beautiful weeds!!".

The oxygen therapy lady will be here this morning.
I ended up not going to water aerobics last night because the class lasted longer than I thought that it would. I'm glad that I went though.

Bob and I went shopping yesterday. We picked out lots at the cemetary, and then we went to the monument place and chose a tombstone. We had planned to do that ages ago, but we never did. He said he does't want me to have to deal with it alone if something happens. I reminded him that I could die first, but he doesn't think that will happen. He was on the phone with our financial advisor asking questions yesterday, and he plans to talk to our attorney about our will. That we have had in place for many years, and we updated it about 1.5 years ago.

From the looks of the weather report, we're going to be having several days of rain. Joanne, I'll see if I can blow some of it in your direction.
