Smile anybody with ms?

Just wondering. Sadly lots of MSers have way more on their minds, and bodies, than dropping some weight. But what are those of us with only very mild disability to do? Yoga, yeah. But what about aerobic excercise? Any ideas?

Here's an article from the MS Society on aerobic exercise with MS. Your local MS society might even teach classes or have resources for you. Working with a personal trainer who specializes in this might be really helpful for you, even if its only once or twice when you get started...

Have you tried swimming?

Booooo... I can't believe there's nobody with MS on this amazing site. Oh well. Is it ok if I check in with the fibromyalgia groups as their symptoms can be quite similar to MS?

Hey Train!

I was diagnosed almost four years ago and also have fairly mild symptoms. I'd love to PM you but, as I'm technologically backward, I'm not sure what that is. You could always PM me and we could take it from there

Plus, I see that you live in Oakland. I went to Cal and lived in San Francisco for a few years so. I worked in Jack London Square too for a while. Crazy!

I have MS. I am pretty much confined to an electric wheelchair unless I am at home. On good days I am able to do the warm up exercise section of Richard Simmons. I was beginning to think no one else has MS on this big site.

Can't believe that I missed this post. I too was diagnosed with MS 8 years ago. I do have some mobility issued for example I tend to drag my right leg so walking at times at be hazardous without assistance from someone or a walking stick. My main other symptom is fatigue so this effect how much if any I can exercise that day. But my philosophy is tomorrow is another day and that could be better for exercising.

Hello,.. I don't have MS, but do have a family member that has MS for over 10 years..She is older and confined in a wheelchair/bedridden... Me and my mom are caregivers to her needs and from most of you mentioned about tiredness, which she gets now. I put her on the bed early afternoons. Just wanted to say keep praying, if you believe in prayers. My heart and soul goes out to those who deals with this illness.

Richard Simmons has a video called Sit Tight, it is design for disabled people. I wanted to get it for my sister, but she does not have room to do it in. She is not heavy, but she does lifting weights daily that a former physical therapist told her to do. I used to do leg exercise that I had learned from PT..but she gets tired on doing them daily. I just wanted to share some ideas that might be helpful.

Best of good health.
