New To The Site

  • Hello all

I am here purely by chance, I was looking for a weight loss site and voila! I found this.
A little about me, I am 43 yrs old , married 2 kids(24&21) they don't live at home. enjoy crafts all kinds.
I have rhuemitiod arthritis that has had me unable to walk in the past. I also have osteoarthritis in both knees. My health problems prevent me from doing reg exersize as I have good and bad days.
I am 6 ft tall, very large boned, and 270 lbs. I was 310 last Oct. and have lost weight so far by dieting and aquasize. I was told last week that my lower back is starting to degenerate so it is very important that I lose more weight. I find myself needing help by going to this site as I live very remote and am unable to get to town at night for meetings. (its 1 hr drive there) So if anyone can help me or is interested in dieting and chatting please feel free to write me.

  • Hello Heather,

I am Kate and live in Bury, England. Like you I found this site by chance and haven't found my way round it properly yet. I have a daughter aged 22, living in Germany just now, and a son aged 20, who is away at university.

My other half, John, is a fresh air fiend and loves walking, boating on the canals, canoeing, fishing. Unfortunately I have heart problems, so I am not so active, which contributes to my continuing struggle with my weight.

Recently I feel I am winning!!! I have managed to reduce my weight, but fear that I will just put it all back on again, as I have so many times before.

I would be happy to chat with you. Where do you live? We are probably in different time zones, but I'm sure we will be both up and about at some point!!!

    Kate
  • Heather-

I understand your joint problems and trying to exericise! I have been there. I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in my left hip at the age of 23. Within 2 years it had progressed so much I had to have a total hip replacement. They found out during surgery that it wasnt arthritis, but a very rare degenerative joint disease called pigminted villonodular synovitis. But anyway...moral of the story, for a few years I was on lots of meds, could not exercise, and right before the surgery could barely walk. I gained A LOT of weight.

Now, 2 years after my hip replacement my doctor is strongly suggesting I lose weight in order to make my replacement last longer. He said below 200 would suffice...but I am shooting for a lower target. If I am doing this I might as well do it right!

I joined LA Weight Loss and have been fairly pleased. In three months I have lost almost 30 lbs.

If you ever want to chat feel free to private message me or email me at [email protected].

    Good luck to you!
  • Hello
I am 49 and have similar health problems. I have fibromailgia, a degenerative disk in my lower back and and have neck and shoulder pain from a car accident.

I really could use some support too. I need to lose 65 lbs. I have very little will power.

Hope to hear from you soon.
