I am just so sorry ladies but my puppy is not going to be named Little Red. That's just too goofy. But I'll just bet 'cha that's what hubby will be calling her. But then he's kind-of goofy, too! :p One of my friends suggested Zoey & I liked that but I'm leaning toward Peaches so far. She looks like a little peach. I didn't like the names the kids came up with ... except for Angel.
I'm really tired today - and hurting. It has put in a full day of raining. 2 chances for snow this week, too. Not a good forecast for us rheumies. New pastor is staying with a couple from the church until they can find a house to buy. They had a few people over after lunch at Golden Corral today ... we went. Then I had to be back for choir practice at 5 and stand for an hour before church at 6 ... then we all went to Cracker Barrel and ate after that. Loooooooong Day! Going to read a few minutes and go to bed ... if I don't fall asleep reading first. ;) |
Hi.
Meme - I love the name Little Red as well. I like the others from the list, but Ariel least of all. She is a cutie that's for sure. I like those cookies, but I like the plain chocolate ones best. Mima - I hope you are feeling better. Infections take their toll on the body as well. Tammy - Hope you don't get "iced" in. It is going to be nice and warm here for the next week, they tell us. Up into the high 30's:carrot: (that's above zero lol). Hope you get a day off school tomorrow. Joanne - You know it takes time to train babies. All will be well, as long as the puppy isn't a "stupid" type. Then it is hard to have patients with them. I hope you get some rain and cooler weather. It can get cold here, but I really feel so much better in the winter. It is very dry here, so when we have NO humidity, my arthritis is happy:D In another couple of months, we will start with the spring rains and sleet and then with the pain. Not looking forward to that! Spring is ALWAYS the worst time for pain for me. Had a busy weekend. Went to a birthday celebrations yesterday. Than entailed a 4 hr. drive, but was nice to visit with our friends. They live in another province, so we don't get to see them so much anymore. Today friends of ours came for a visit and we went out for a late lunch or early supper. Enjoyed that as well. Tonight I am tired. I also paid the price with a sore back today, from all the sitting I did yesterday. Somedays, you just can't win! I wonder where Chris has gotten to?? |
Good morning-Meme-your Sunday sounds like our Sundays. We went to lunch with another couple-they have been in MO with their daughter after her husband died. The missionary visit is up in the air. they assigned us 3 people-at least there were 3 people in the pic-and so I have to call today.
Boohoo the Patriots!!!the Colts must be happy! I guess my stomache is getting better. I will do liquids today. I am sick of this-I was in such pain yesterday. Probably shouldn't have had solid foods. My stomache med makes me crabby, And my brother keeps calling me about selling his fifth wheel-he is always buying and selling anyways. We think he has a hole in his soul. They are coming down next weekend. Brad does not think it's biblical to have a woman minister. Look for a church that is alive and growing!!! Such a joy to be part of it! We had a speaker on finaces yesterday-a bit wordly but he had some good ideas-how to be debt free. Living on credit is buying things you don't need, what you can't afford, to please people you don't like. His words. I wrote stuff down to tell my daughter. Bye for now, Mima |
Candice said to tell everyone that she is still around but she's having computer problems plus she has been busy. I told her I was still around, too, but sometimes I forget where! :p
|
Goodmorning!
We are hosting a Missionary Pastor from GA. from 2/6 to 2/13.He founded Carribean Lifetime Missions. He needs laptop computers and I had this bright idea to see if some company would sell them at cost. Or donate is even better. I am going to try. My stomache is better and I only drank liquids yesterday-went to Walmart and bought a lot of stuff. But i feel weak. Angela's doc thinks she has Graves disease but will get more tests. Hi back to candace, Did you get to stay home yesterday, Tammy. Mima |
Has anyone else had trouble getting on here? I tried last night and a few times this morning, and I finally connected. We ended up having a 2-hour delay yesterday, and that was pretty nice.
Joanne, I'll be checking out different churches in the area before I make a decision on which one that I want to attend. It was so nice having Bob there with me on Sunday. Meme, I enjoy Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral. haven't been to GC for a while though. Anne, it's nice that you were able to spend some time with your friends. |
Ok, I'm back to finish my message. Had to leave suddenly earlier. I had sent Chris a PM a while back. I think the holidays really got to her. I sure hope she comes back soon.
Mima, I cracked my hubby up while we were watching the game the other night. I kept looking for Matt Light since he's from near here. When I finally saw him, I said "He's fat!" I know with all of the equipment on, it makes them look bigger. I guess I was just surprised that he looked so much bigger than the person he was standing beside at the moment. His cousin is in one of the 5th grade classes that I work with. She was pretty bummed. My son and all of his friends are Colts fans, of course since he's going to school in Indiana, most of them are from there. He said it will be very interesting for the Super Bowl, because there are many Chicago fans there too. Good luck on your quest for the laptop computers! I really liked the pastor at this church. Since she services another church a few miles away, I'm hoping one of them is my favorite. There were lots of older people in church on Sunday. I'm 51, and I was the youngest one there that day (unless I'm terrible at judging ages). Meme, I often wonder where I am too! Tell Candice hello for us. It's supposed to snow again tonight, but I don't think enough to amount to anything. Another delay maybe? I'm terrible, aren't I? Tim called this afternoon. We discussed meals for this weekend when he is home. 1) Ham, beans, and cornbread. 2) Beef stroganoff. I think we can handle those. He said he is enjoying all of his classes, although he thinks his geography class is too basic. He enjoys that stuff, so maybe he has just learned more on his own than others have. I told him he doesn't have an excuse to get anything but an A in it then. Well, I need to go get ready for our monthly Emmaus Gathering. Since we've moved, it only takes me 5-10 min. to get there. I like that. |
Spent over an hour doing an 'online' resume for hubby tonight. I read the fine print agreement and everything looked ok ... said it was free. Got to the finish line and had to pay $24.99 to print it out. I was sooooo mad. I then had to do the whole thing over again. I couldn't find a single really free resume form on the internet. Finally just did my own. I worked on that thing for over 2 hours. He was thanking me and I said, just remember ... I need a little 'house' for my puppy. I'm wanting him to make a 'box' out of paneling that I can put in my bathroom. I want it high enough that she can't jump out of it when she gets older and I want it built at an angle so the back is wider than the front. I'm putting it between two doors and they will be opening back into it but they don't have to open all the way back against the wall. I want the top open but I want a little door in the front that slides down from the top so she can go in and out by herself later on. I also want an extra bottom to drop down in it that I can line with plastic shelf liner ... so I can take it out and wash it. He said, don't want much do you? ;) He finished my shelves in the basement ... they are huge!
It is sooo cold here! Supposed to get colder as the week goes on. Don't want to go outside. |
Mornin! I hope Chris comes back. Hi Chris.
No word back about the computers . I wrote to HP and IBM-Bill gates gives away a lot of money. Stomache is still sore but I feel better, Afraid of surgery but maybe it would be good-get rid of some pockets. Going to the Gaither concert tomorrow night-we don't have to travel far. Your dog's pen sounds like Noah's directions from God, Meme.Or was that someone else. Cooler weather-I will take it, My b and sil went up to Port Richie. I told them to stop in tarpon Springs. Angela told me that she and Brett have high cholesterol. They haven't got a chance -both families are huge so they sure didn't learn anything. I should send them a book. I bet my tryglicerides are down from walking, Hope so!! Art class! yeah, Mima |
Meme, isn't that frustrating when you do something online that you think is free and then the price comes up at the end? I know that has happened to me before also. The house for Little Red (mean, aren't I?) sounds neat! Glad that your shelves are finished. Lots of room to store things now. We above 30 degrees today, so that's almost a heatwave after the past week or so.
Mima, I wouldn't want to have surgery either, but if it will help, it will be worth it. Enjoy the Gaither concert! Sounds like Angela and Brett really need to be taking some nutrition lessons or something. How old are they? Enjoy your class! I'm home today until 11:30, then I'm heading for school. I was up most of the night, and I decided to stay home this morning. My morning schedule is light compared to the afternoon. Morning = 1 reading group, 1 math group, lunch, recess. Afternoon = 2 reading groups, 3 math groups, study time (I help individuals then.) After school I'm meeting a woman that I met on the WW boards. She is from Florida, but she is doing training at the AF base near here. We are meeting to officially meet in person, and I'm sure supper is in our plans. Should be fun. I've met several people in person that I've met online. |
Hey everyone. Thanks, Tammy for the encouragement to come back. The holidays have been rough but I seem to have survived. There were alot of days I didn't get out of bed....just pulled the covers over my head and laid there.
I am off to see a ortho surgeon this morning. I hurt my arm in June and it has been affecting my bowling. My average has dropped 20 pins since June. I have had 2 shots of cortisone since the beginning of December. Hopefully I will get some relief from it soon. Hope everyone is doing well |
Opppps forgot my weight loss journey. I am stuck now. Bouncing back and forth between 255 and 257. Can't seem to break it.
I am also the team leader for the red team in the Biggest Loser challegne here on 3 fat chicks. I really enjoy that. |
Welcome back Chris!!!!!!!!!!!! I go back to my rheumatologist on Feb. 7, and I think she is going to give me injections in my knees again. It has been a year this month since I had the others. I'm bouncing up and down between pounds too. Drives me nuts sometimes. Glad you're back!!!
The woman I was supposed to meet tonight called and had to cancel. She had a family emergency. We had planned to meet the other day, but that's when we got that nasty weather. Hope I get to meet her someday. (all of you too!!) |
Tammy....My arm is really hurting tonight. Had to break out the big pain pills. Trying to use the mouse with my right hand...but it isn't working well. I sure hope the cure is worth the treatment.
|
Chris, was something different done to your arm to make it hurt so bad? It makes me hurt just thinking about it. I certainly hope the pain will ease up for you. I know how much you enjoy bowling, so the arm needs to get better!!
Hello to everyone! Have a great day! |
Wow!! Hi Chris-nothing like internet friends. Glad to hear from you.
I met Joanne and it was so great-and her sister, Eleni. When you come to Fl, we can meet you too. Tammy!!!!11 haha-actually Joanne lives quite far from here but you never know, Still haven't gotten missionary stuff straightened out but do have his itinerary. Stomache is better-actually ate at church-chicken and sweet potato. My back was better til I weeded. Wow-didn't notice it til it was gone!!! It's much cooler here. My brother and SIL are going back on Sat, They sold their home at a loss. I was looking forward to seeing them. I told him I wasn't going to listen to him whine about the cold. bye for now-Mima |
Thank you for the welcome back, Mima.
Tammy, I orginially hurt my arm in June. The power steering went out in my van and we bowled in 36 games in 12 days. I took a week off from bowling and it was better. Since then it would flare up now and again and I would take some time off from bowling. The beginning of December it started hurting a lot more. Went to the doctor on a Saturday and saw the doc on call. He was older and like the idea of giving shot into the joint so I got cortisone shot in the left hip for my right arm. Thought that was odd. Being of Jan the pain was back worse then ever. Saw my doc and he gave me a cortisone shot in the elbow. The pain is in on of the arm where the tendons are and he gave the shot in the back part of the arm. Had to take 10 days off from bowling. Again I thought that was odd. Saw the ortho surgeon yesterday. He said it figures...family docs want the money for joint injections but don't know how to do them properly. He give me yet another injection. This time on the tendon plus he scrapped the bone with the needle to help loosen the tendon up and prompt healing. Now I have to give up bowling for another 10 days and wear a brace on my wrist (the up and down action of the wrist affects the tendon that is hurting. I have to wear the brace 24/7 for the next 10 days. The doc asked if I wore a brace when when bowling. I said I own some but don't use them. He said you do know. I will have to bowl all over again now. Last nght the pain for all that was intense. Had to break open the big pain pills. I was able to sleep but am up real early this morning because of the pain. Am hoping to go back to bed soon. |
Good afternoon ladies.
Mima -how far do you live from Joanne? I am glad you stomach is feeling better. Chris - nice to have you back! Sorry about the arm. Yet another thing to keep you from doing what you enjoy. It is always something it seems. I hope that the cortisone shot helps you. I can't imagine why a Dr. would inject cortisone into your hip for your arm! That just doesn't make any sense at all. I have had problems with the tendons in my arm in the past, and it is very painful. It finally subsided when I had a hysterectomy. I just had to let it rest for a couple of weeks. Seemed to do the trick, as I was saddled with it for over a year. My son was 2 at the time, so it is almost 30 years ago. Now, I have tennis elbow, and that gets mighty painful as well. Goes right into my thumb joint as well. Tammy - Did you get to go to school late today? I don't think I have ever seen stuff close down because it is snowing - other than country schools. Never in the city. The schools used to close if it was colder than 30 below zero, but at some point the caretaker found kids outside the school, as their parents had too work, and they just dropped them at school. I guess they weren't aware of the rule. My son was in grade 7 at the time. Anyway, shortly after, they changed the rule and the schools remain open. They just can't have little kids outside in those temps. Hi Meme and Joanne. Hope you are both doing well. I am having a day off today, and hubby is away tonight, so NO COOKING:carrot: I got on the scale this morning, dreading it, and found out I had lost 5 pounds:o Some of it was christmas weight, but about 3 pounds are new weight loss. I was really excited about that. Wishing you all a great day. |
Anne, I had a hysterectomy in 2000. So no rest to the arm for that. It was hurting pretty bad last night. Earlier today it was ok but not now.
Hubby's day off. We got our eyes examed and new glasses picked out. Mine after insurance pays will be $81.50. DH's are $15. I have to have the featherwiehgt no line bifocals. There was no way I was going with a lined bifocal. Bad enough I have a ton of gray...only at the roots right now but I have decided I am not coloring it any more. Then we went grocery shopping. $252 spent at Walmart and I still need to go to the bread store and Kroger. Walmart doesn't carry the corn we like and the oat bran I use to make muffins. I guess I will get them tomorrow. You would think we had a house full of kids with the amount we spent. It is just the 2 of us. Eating healthy is expensive. I shouldn't need much in the way of meat for a while. DH said go sit down. He is making dinner. YAY. I so needed a pain pill and to sit. A nap would be nice too but not at this hour. I hate eating supper this late. I was up at 6 because of pain and ate breakfast so I could take a pain pill. Ate lunch at 11. I am way past hungry now. Hope he is quick with it. I am off to the recliner now. Hope everyone is doing well. |
Mima, where are you in Florida? I know last year when we came to Florida, we had planned to go to Tampa after Disney World, and I was hoping to meet Joanne. Our plans changed when we found out that Tim's freshman orientation and early class were the week we planned to go to Tampa. I'm sure we'll be down there sometime. In March we are headed for Jekyll Island, GA for about a week. I am looking forward to the trip. That's where we have discussed going during the winter months in the future.
I'm sure your back did feel better before you weeded!! Silly girl!! Chris, I hope that the injections in the right place will help you. I remember trying to wear a brace for bowling. It can really mess up your release! Once my ball ended up going in the lane next to ours!! A bit embarrassing. Hope you were able to get some sleep today. Anne, where I live it is basically country so we have some hilly and curvy roads for the buses to travel over. I know there are schools about 25 south of us who never close or delay, but they are mainly city schools. That's awful about those kids being outside when it is so cold! 5 pounds!!! You go girl!!! Hope you enjoyed your day and evening to yourself. Chris, your glasses sound like mine. I like the lighter weight ones, and I didn't want the lines either. I have gray also, but I still color my hair. I agree about eating healthy being expensive. Feel better and get a good night's sleep!! Ok. Who is going to volunteer to have ALL of us over to their house so we can meet sometime???????????;) |
I am going to have to learn to bowl all over with a brace on. I have several but never liked the way I released the ball. Guess I am going to need some serious practice.
|
Good morning-this is Mima after not too much sleep-got home from the Gaither concert at midnight and we put the heat on-NOISY!!! And then Brad couldn't sleep because his nose was running so I told him we shouldn't have the heat 0n-and it gives me a sore throat.
The concert was awesome!! It ends with such mellow songs, Love that Signature Sound. tammy-Angela is 25 and Brett is 33. Such health problems at such a young age, Get out your map of FL and see Ft Myers way down and Tarpon Springs way up-on the Gulf coast. It's over 3 hours to Tampa for me and a ways for Joanne to come down. We have our senior adult banquet tonight. Brad and I are in the younger part of the group.I think I already said that. Chris-I spent 2 years getting shots in my shoulder til I went to an orthopedic doc and he did an mri and found out I had a torn rotator cuff that needed surgery. Then after I had it I healed quickly and now it's great. Glad you have a day off, Anne.or that was yesterday. My back is still way better but my hip hurts. Mima |
Mima, The ortho surgeon, says if the shot of cortisone doesn't work the next step is PT. With a $30 co pay everytime I go to PT, there is no way I can afford that. The next step would be surgery to release the tendon. Told the doc we will have to skip the PT and go to surgery. He said we will talk about it if this fails to do the trick.
|
Chris, we should all get together and have a bowling party to help you practice!
Mima, so glad you enjoyed the concert. I'd love to see them sometime. I agree about Angela and Brett being too young to have such health problems. Glad it's Friday! Tim is home, well he was, and he is already gone. His old HS has a basketball game tonight, so he went to watch my nephew play (or sit the bench). He'll also hang out with the pep band and give advice to the drummers. He's hoping that some of his old classmates will be there to talk to. I'm sure there will be some there that still live at home and commute to their schools. |
Tammy I am going to need all the practice I can get once I am released to bowl again.
|
A bunch from our church was together last night and some of them were talking about getting a group together to bowl. I'd probably have to wear several braces if I started that again! :p I have 3 wrist braces that do not have metal staves in them . They are made of stretchy nylon spandex stuff with a wrap around velcro cuff. I can't stand the hard, metal or plastic ones ... they hurt me more than they help. These have a thumb and index finger hole and will fit either hand. They're pretty comfortable ... I wash them in the sink with warm water and Dreft. I got them at CVS & they are made by Mueller if you want to try one.
I thought we were all going to go up in the Smokies and rent a cabin together. One with a hot tub, pool table and fireplace! I finally decided on a name for baby puppy. What do you all think about Ginger? I get her tomorrow (Sat.) at 4. Can't wait!!! :D Have any of you ever watched I Dream of Jeannie with Barbara Eden? (You may not be as old as Me!) ;) There were several episodes when she had a little scraggly Genie dog on there that could be invisible and she hated uniforms. Every time she saw Dr. Bellows she would turn invisible and rip his clothes off of him. I don't know how many times I watched that but once I told hubby that if I ever got another little dog I was going to name it after Jeannie's little Genie dog. I'd forgotten all about that until I was searching the net for names the other night and saw the name Ginger and I thought Gin-Gin was Jeanie's dog's name ... how cute is that. Plus, that's about what color she is. And so, a name was born! :dizzy: (Actually TWO names were born!) :p Hubby has promised to have her little house made by the time we have to go get her tomorrow. I went and bought one of those little shoulder bags with the mesh sides to carry her in and I also got her the tinniest little pink collar with a little 'diamond' :D heart on it! I got some puppy pads for training. Can't decide whether to do that or try to take her out. What are you doing with your puppy Joanne? In or out? Of course, you live in FL and it's so cold here right now, and it's supposed to snow tonight, too. She'd get completely lost in very much snow! She doesn't even weigh 2 pounds yet. :p |
That's great, Meme. And a cute pic,
We went to our senior dinner. Food was good and they had a pianist. And then a retired pastor from Orlando to give a message. One thing he said that I lked was not so much to give things to your family but memories of trips etc. I like that. Even mission trips. We can finally stay home tonight. We were out 3 nights in a row!!!! It's cool here. Finally-we had been in the 80's for a long time. Bye for now Mima |
Meme, what kind of puppy are you getting? We have found we just aren't dog people. I can't even seem to potty train them. We will have to stick with our kitties (3 back female cats)
|
Meme, I forgot about the cabin!! We really would have a great time. I like the name Ginger! I do remember the show too. I do believe you are excited!! I would be too!!!
Mima, Bob and I talked the other day about all of the trips (big and small) that we have taken in our almost 26 years together. The memories are great, and we know the trips we've taken with Tim have created good memories for him also. When we were first married, we just took off one day. We drove about 3 hours, stopped and had a milkshake somewhere, and then drove home. Just talked and checked out the scenery. We still talk about that trip. Glad that you get to stay home tonight! You are too busy! Chris, we are dog people because Bob and Tim are both allergic to cats. Not fun when they are around them. Bob is worse than Tim. We'll go to my brother's house, and even if Bob has taken medicine, we can only stay a short while because his eyes start swelling shut. |
Hey There
Meme- Good name.. I take my puppy out... I don't want to let her think the house is the place to go.. We have had some accidents in the kitchun. I don't let her in the rest of the house unless she has just gone outside.. I have white carpet in living room.I bought a baby gate to keep her confined. She sleeps in crate at night and when we are gone.I spend a lot of time house training so far. I am trying to keep her to a schedule.:p It works some of the time.
Chris- Don't stress about bowling. You can go back to that when you heal.Cats are not my thing... Mima- We watch the Gaithers now and then on Sat. night. They are on the country channel. Just before Grand ole Oprey.. Tammy- I used to get those injections all the time. They made me feel awful for a few days. Ran my B/p up. They don't give them so much anymore. They help pain sometimes, but, they also destroy tissue. One of the bad side effects.Check it out with your Dr. Sometimes therapy is best.Exercise is good. Painful at first but works best in the long run.. Got to get busy.Have a Great Weekend.. Joanne |
Meme - congrats on getting the puppy today. I know you are excited. Cute name as well.
Joanne - You will get that puppy trained - perserverance is the thing :dizzy: It is a LOT of work. He should soon be well on his way, however. I don't remember it taking that long to get a puppy trained. It depends how smart they are, I guess. Chris - I hope your arm is improving. Just let it rest. Everytime you use it, you inflame the tendons more. Did you get a cortisone shot? The bowling won't go anywhere. It will still be there next week, or the week after. I don't think you want surgery on it, that is for sure. Tammy - enjoy Tim being home this weekend. Hmm, it's ALMOST February:carrot: My work hours are going to revert back to casual again. Can't say I am sad about it, although the extra money has been nice. I will still have plenty of work, I think. In March, I will go back to Mon, Wed and Fri for about a month and then just casual again. I like casual, because I can say when and IF I want to work. Mima - the concert sounds like it was good. How are you feeling? I agree with the pastor, Mima. Money doesn't buy memories, it buys things. I think being with your family and friends is very, very important. I don't have any sisters, but I have 4 friends I have known since I was 6 yrs old. We all lived on the same street, and saw each other every single day. I was/am closer to them than my 2 brothers. Love 'em like sisters. I have the greatest childhood memories. I feel so sorry for people who carry the burden of a terrible childhood. It really does make us who we are today in lot's of cases. We are on our way to Edmonton. Ashley seems to need a grandma and grandpa fix:carrot: She called last weekend to see if we were "coming over". She missed us because she hadn't seen us since just before New Years. Hope you all have a nice weekend. |
I haven't seen Evan and Alison in a week and I need a fix. Have fun Anne.
Went to watch a Blockbuster moie and it was only a 45 minute thing from ESPN. Reported it right away. It was supposed to be Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe, Love the name Ginger-I am sure we will see another pic. Chris-when I hurt something it takes a long time to heal. Hope you are ok soon but give it time. tammy, I can tell you make a lot of good memories with your family. Hope you find a good church. I heard from our missionary. This will be quite an experience. H ewill be eating breakfast here everyday but will be going out with some of the Sunday school people. Good job with your puppy Joanne, I never had to train a dog because we got all of them when they were trained. I probably wouldn't have the patience. I am allergic to cats but not bad. Mima |
