  • Rosey: The E. Coli scare is because once the field is watered with contaminated water, the E. Coli actually gets into the plant through the water, no washing will remove it! I have been staying away from salads myself, although I should just jump back on and deal with it.

Did my first fitting for my dress last night. I need about an inch hem (because I'm wearing flats) and we are doing a really simple bustle.

I'm tired today. Sleeping has not been coming easy.
  • I can't eat any kind of lettuce so at least that is something I didn't have to worry about and I do miss salads so much and it makes dieting much harder.

Forgot to ck my bs this morning, will do it 2 hrs. after lunch to see where I am.

It is still warm here in Florida, 87 yesterday but not so humid. We also went to an artist fair Sun. after Church and it got quite hot but saw some interesting things and several good ideas that we could do ourselves.

    Have a good week, Phyllis
  • Good morning,,burrrr ,,cold here but sunny,,,fbs was 125 this morning,,start my 20 day run today at work,,will be tired for sure,,,but hope to keep smiling,,,take care all and talk to you soon,,,later,,Jeanne
  • Wow, my morning BGL was 98! This is an all-time low for me since being diagnosed last month. My breakfast postprandial was 109.

My weight loss is going really well. I am down 18 pounds as of this morning since Sept 15th. I am eating about 1,000 to 1,200 cal a day and staying under 100 carbs. I am watching my fat intake and making sure it stays around 40g total. My protein has been on the high end at about 100g.

I am walking about 20 minutes after each meal. This is easy to do for me.

What do you all do to diet?
  • Hi, all. Still nice October weather. Saw the endo this morning. Bad news. My A1c was 6.4, up from 5.9 a year ago and my fasting bg was 181. The results, no doubt, of my bad food choices during this stressful year. So I will be back on Actos again. Have been trying to rein in my eating this week. I'm not really hungry, just want to eat. I asked him about my foot going to sleep and he said it had nothing to do with diabetes, probably a pinched nerve. That's a relief. I'll run it by my PCP on Thursday and see what he says. Found all these Halloween smilies. Cute.
  • Hey, everyone! Just flying by to say hello. Dinner went well last night, though I ate too much. I ate too much tonight too, and my bg after dinner was 152. It usually stays under 120. I am about to move up to the ten pen of Byetta...I hate to waste the five pen I have. It is $50 a month co-pay so you don't want to just toss out a weeks worth of it, you know?

    I will check in tomorrow.
  • Hey everyone.. life sure can throw you a few curve balls once in awhile ..both my oldest daughter and my mil are having surg friday..but at diff hosp...i am going to stay at my dd house to help with the grkids so my sil can be with her..she went in for her yearly ck up and they found a suspecious growth on her ovarie and cysts and a prolasped uterus so they are going to do a complte hysterectomy..we are all shocked and praying its not something really bad.. my mil is having a pace maker put in..and shes nervous too at 85.. sooooo if you dont see me post for a few days thats why..sure could use some extra prayers..ill be out of town for a few days..(((((hugs))) rosey
  • ROSEY: You got em! I will be praying for you, your daughter and your MIL.. please keep us posted!
  • VIKIA: I follow Sugarbusters for my diet. I find it easy and it works very well. It is based on the Glycemic Index. Because I use Byetta, I find I can get away with more carbs than I should, though. I usually get in at least 30 minutes of walking a day. I missed yesterday and Monday, but today I got in the VERY cold pool and did 25 minutes of water aerobics. BRRR! I actually felt numb!
  • I had 126 fasting this am but I had a 1/2 cup coffee with sweetner and coffeemate before I realized I had forgotten...don't know if that mattered.

Will do the after lunch one today also.

    Phyllis
  • the sugar may put it up some. it depends how fast it gets int your system. glen
  • Okay, at what point do I get worried that it is too low?

When I was first diagnosed as T2 on 9/15 my FBGs were above 130's.
Since then, I have adopted a low carb South Beach Phase 2 - like diet.

    84 - today

That 84 was a bit of a shock.

At what point do I begin to worry again?
  • Rosey - I'm so sorry about your dd and mil. My prayers are with you all. Keep us posted as you can.
Viki - If your blood sugar goes below 80 you may want to call your doctor and adjust whatever medication you are on. In the meantime keep some glucose tablets handy in case your bg gets too low.
Well, the Actos has kicked in and my blood sugar was 145 this morning, which is good for me. Saw my pcp and my blood pressure and cholesterol are in a good range.
  • Rosetta, I am not on any meds yet...just diet and excercise. Someone told me to pay attention if BG goes below 70. I will have to get some glucose tablets, I don't have any.

Rosey, I am so sorry to hear that your family is struggling with health issues. Adding my prayers and good wishes that they recover soon.
  • VIKIA: If your blood sugar goes lower than 80, you might not be eating enough. Increase your carbs a bit and see if that stabilizes your levels. I think a morning bg reading around 90 to 100 is ideal. It really depends on you and your system though. You are doing great though, so be proud! When I was first diagnosed my bg readings were 385. It took two months to get them down, even with glucophage, Amaryl and two 30 minute walks a day. I was under the impression that it was the meds that caused hypoglycemia, so I will be surprised if you have problems with the levels getting TOO low if you are not taking meds.
