  • Well Trish, Allulose lowers blood sugar! I got up for the bathroom at 3am and checked blood sugar. It was 105 which is very good forr me. However when i got up at 7am it was 86. I havent had an 86 since i was diagnosed in 2008. So Im not going to be able to have Allulose in tea several times a day. The scale was down 1 lb to 179.2. Im going to start slow with this Allulose.

Today on Kelly and Mark Live they had Dr Melina Jampolis talking about how to increase GLP1 naturally. One way was drink a Whey Protein shake before a meal. Eat dark chocolate. Eat bitter foods, like broccoli, brussels sprouts, also pistachio nuts, beans, and these foods increase GLP 1. The show is on again at 10 am so I have it set to record so i can write everything down that she said. It was very interesting. Kelly says this is how she always eats and she is ofnly 110 lbs. She was not always this thin. There are pictures of her when she was on Soap operas and she was heavier, without being fat , but obviously bigger.

Now I want to see if Allulose decreases my appetite and cravings. I read that it is also used in some artificially sweetened foods but i dont know which ones.
  • I gained .4 lbs this month, but it has been a learning experience for me. FBG and bp was very good. Back down where it was.

Carol Sue I will look and see if this doctor has a Youtube video. I learned about Allulose and how it affects bs from a research doctor. He said that you need to start slowly using Allulose to prevent diarrhea. I started out using it in coffee and now use it in other things, but still haven't gotten up to the 12 servings he said most people seems to be safe using. I'm not sure that I ever will.

I honestly believe low carb is not the right way for me to eat. I am eating oatmeal for breakfast ad when I got hungry last night, I got hungry last night and ate a bowl of raisin bran with protein shake instead of milk. Weight was down .6 lbs this morning and FBG was 102. I remember my SC doctor telling me that oatmeal should lower my FBG but it didn't. Since then, I have come to believe that had more to do with what I put into it or else the allulose is helping it or both. I do remember when I married DH that there was a fiber type cereal company (I don't remember which one) advertised that if you ate their cereal for breakfast and dinner that you would lose weight. I didn't pay attention to it because I was heavy into low carb diets. At this point, I can see how eating more fiber like Dr Melina Jampolis seems to mention on the show you watched may be exactly what I need to be doing right now. That with the allulose keeps me from getting hungry plus, I seem to have more energy. Perhaps this is why my oncologist wants me to be sure and eat protein and fiber. One thing I am noticing eating this way is that I am actually hungry when I feel hungry.

I can't believe this is Friday and I feel behind on exercise. DH is up which means I probably want do all of it today but I will do enough for at least 30 minutes.

    BBL
  • We,went to the casino today. I didnt want to but he did. I reminded him that he chose Wednesday but he didnt care. We ate at the restaurant in the casino. I got my glasses out of my purse to read the check. I thought I put them back in my purse but when I went to read in the casino they werent there. DH checked back at the restaurant. He and the waitress looked but didnt see them. Later on I went over and asked again and they said No. But I think they are somewhere in the building. So I tried reading but it really bothered my eyes. Im really upset about it because they were very nice glasses. So now I have to find another pair to carry in my purse. I dont think anyone else would take them.

That doctor Jampolis has a lot of books out but it didnt seem like any were about GLP1.And they were not cheap.

I cant imagine having 12 servings of Allulose. I had 2 tsp in my tea last night and I wouldnt want my sugar to go below 86. I will go very slow with it as I also still take my diabetes meds. They are running low, so maybe the allulose will do the trick so my G will last longer. Metformin does not lower blood sugar. It just prevents your body from releasing glucose when you dont need it. Or somerhing like that. I'm not sure.

I think you are eating well and with your exercise you are controlling weight and glucose, and also your cancer. Your oncologist should have answers for you. Who was the research doctor who talked about Allulose? Was it online or in person?
  • Carol Sue I didn't see anything with Dr. Jampolis say anything about allulose, but DH and I watched some of her Youtube videos and I like the way she explains the foods and supplements we should eat and take. I can eat that way. I like knowing what foods do for us. I think the doctor describe how allulose affects glucose was Dr. Bilkin. I think you have a book of his, but I don't know if he had it in the book. I didn't buy that one.

Sorry you lost your glasses. I have several reading glasses but they were the ones I had before my cataract surgery. Only one or two works really good. I would love to go to Dollar Tree to get new ones, but haven't been able to talk DH into taking me there. I need to just get a pair or at least test some at Walmart and maybe order them from Amazon.

Going to bed early while I'm sleepy. I get good sleep at night these days, but get up later. I need to get up early Sat and Sun cause I call my kids. DD birthday is tomorrow.

    Goodnight.
  • I didnt go to bed unttil 4 am. What sleep I got was good. I just took a bit of Allulose on a spoon at bedtime, no tea. FBG was 100.

scale was up a bit to 180.0

I dont remember Dr Bilkin but I will look him up. I saw, some information online from Dr Purlmutter. My bag of Allulose is 2.5 lbs and should last long. I wont bake with it because my baking is for others. DH wouldnt eat anything with artificial sweetener. I would not give anyone anything without telling them whats in it.

I found it, Its Dr Bikman.
  • Carol Sue I had the wrong name for the research doctor. His name is Dr. Benjamin Bikman. I thought he had a book that you read, but I'm not sure he had anything in the book about allulose at the time he wrote the book. For some reason I'm thinking the knowledge they are learning about allulose is new. Of course I could be wrong. I saw him in one of the other Youtube doctors I used to watch. I would like to know more about allulose. I hope they will find it is good and replace some of the bad sweeteners with it.

My FBG was 106 this morning so I seem to be in the 100s. I probably use about 2 or 3 tsp of allulose a day if that much because I only add 1/2 tsp at a time when I use it. I don't eat or drink a lot of foods that I can add it to. I had so much bouncing between constipation and diarrhea on cancer meds and I was surprised when team nurse told me protein drinks cause constipation because they seemed to take calm down the problem and now that I use the amount of allulose and am eating a good amount of fiber that my body seems to be happy with, I no longer have a problem with constipation or diarrhea. I feel like my digestive system is at a happy place.

Glad you got a good nights sleep in spite of the length of sleep. I hope to eventually be able to get up earlier. I hope the sleep I'm getting is good for me because I'm healing.

I had my oatmeal again today with my flavored 80 calories Dannon Greek yogurt. From what I'm reading, I need to buy regular plain Greek yogurt and add my fruit and allulose to it. I will do that next week. I love apple cinnamon oatmeal with yogurt. So I will start making my own with the healthier ingredients.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
  • Weight was up 1.6 lbs but that is from the sodium in the creamed chipped meal DH cooked yesterday and the starches I had to get fiber. FBG 2as 106 and bp excellent.

I was watched a video conversation of Dr. Bikman's with another doctor on YouTube and the read the report he mentioned of a research done on allulose. I told DS about it and told her to have her DD watch the video as well. DS Part D insurance won't cover her GLP-1 medication so maybe she could use the allulose.

I was very impressed with how Dr. Bikman says he eats and I could eat that way. He says he likes to stay in ketosis for part of his day. I hope I can find out more about how he does this, because he is strict with what he eats for breakfast and lunch, but eats what his family eats. This sounds almost like the old CAD woe, but not necessarily CAD. I had my eggs, bacon and sl of whole wheat toast for breakfast. I'm the cook today so I'm cooking Lemon Peppered baked leg quarters for dinner with salad and fruit. I might even add a veggie to it. Then I will have a protein shake as a snack. Then fast until brunch tomorrow and of course I will include allulose to get the benefits from it.

Hope everyone is doing well today.
  • I wish I could watch YouTube. My mind wanders and I cant follow along. I remember one doctor I was watching was in his kitchen and I was watching what his cat was doing in the background!😁😀. I would rather read what they are saying.

Dr Bikman wrote Why We Get Sick and What To Do About It. I like him. I have rhe book on Kindle and might read it again but I have so many books to read! So many books, so little time!

I wonder if the video of Dr Bikman was with Dr Shawn Baker?
  • Carol Sue Dr. Bikman's interview was with a Dr. David Perlmutter. I don't know anything about him as I've never heard of him. I like watching the videos but know that I miss out on some things that I would be able to read in a book.

I have so many diet books and Christian books that I've received as gifts from people and places. I figure the kids will be upset with me when I die and they have to find something to do with them. My niece would throw them out.

Strange thing is that I did low carb meals today and am sleepy after dinner. When I ate the oatmeal and fruit and regular meal, I had energy. Makes me wonder if low carb is the way I should eat.
  • Dr Perlmutter has information online about Allulose. Ive read some other stuff from him online but no books.

I think you should leave instructions to dispose of your books as you wish, be it donation to charity such as Goodwill but they should not be thrown out in trash. There will always be someone who wants them. Or donate them yourself while you are here.

I have many many books, mostly cookbooks. I want my girls to go through them and take what they want. Most I bought very cheap at flea markets etc but several I paid highly from bookstores just because I liked them. Not many. I really dont want them donated. I prefer they go to someone who knew me and cared for me. Ive already donated most of my diet book except for Dr Atkins, and a few low carb such as Protein Power. I also have books about exercise but I forget the doctors name. The book is a,series called Fit or Fat and I alsobhave a video where he just talks. Exercise videos are another thing. I have a load of VHS tapes and a big box of DVDs. When I exercise during the week I like to eatch my soaps to make the time go by. Since the soaps arent on over the weekend, I will use the exercise videos. This is my plan,if I ever get out of my recliner. DH has this thing he bought as,shown on tv that he uses. It just moved your feet forward and back. He wants me to use it and said he would carry it over to my chair, but he only did it once. Its heavy and I dont want to lift it. I guess it would help me strengthen my legs. He says I need to walk, which translates to "Go to the casino." but I say my legs need to be strengthened for me to walk. Walking does not strengthen my legs. Its funny because I put my arm thru his for balance and then he drags me! He goes too fast for me. He does the same thing taking the shopping cart to the car. I feel like Im running. He has long legs and a long stride.

My sleep was disturbed because of things on my mind. My blood sugar was very high at bed time. I took meds and Allulose but it didnt come down as,well as I'd like. My weight is down 1 lb to 179. It went to 178 but bounced up and stayed. I am afraid to take too much Allulose. I'll do it gradually until I feel comfortable.I've not decided if I like using it.

I think we will go to Walmart and Goodwill. No idea whats for dinner. Ive figured out that DH only wants carbs. If I tell him Im making something such as pork chops he says "With what?". And I let him decide the sides. I did not cook dinner Saturday or Sunday. So he made homefries on Sat. and RiceARoni on Sunday. No protein at either meal. The only way we get protein is if I cook. He has Pastaroni for lunch almost every day. Sometimes I cook meat for myself. Ive been craving pork lately. Soon I will be making cabbage rolls. They arent hard but take a long time. Soon I will try them in the pressure cooker. When I make a big roasterful I will put 10 or so in the pressure cooker to try them out. If they turn out good I can make them more often just for us. I would like that because I dont always want to make a big potful.
  • Weight up today and so was FBG. That means I need to continue to watch carbs. While I can eat some, there are still a lot of them I need to stay away from. I also think I need to continue eating 2 meals a day and cut out any calorie/carbs at night. I've been drinking hot SF drinks at night but they have calories and probably carbs too although not much. Another thing I didn't do yesterday... I didn't drink enough water.

We are going to the store today because got meds to pick up before they put them back on shelf. Spring is coming and I want my salads again and will work at eating them again. I will keep my carbs healthy ones but try to keep them down. I do not want to gain weight. Dieting is so much easier to do in spring, summer and earlier fall. We are getting tacos for dinner today.

Hope everybody has a good day.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

This is a quick article that I saw on GLP-1 meds and what to eat or avoid. Thought you might like to read it.
The Best and Worst Foods to Eat When Taking a GLP-1 Medication
  • I dont really eat lighter in warm weather. Im not big on salads. I have to be in the mood.

DH wanted hamburgers so he went to the meat store for ground beef. He will only eat burgers with fresh ground beef, not what I have in the freezer. I told him if hes going.to be that picky he can go to the store for the meat. I already went to 2 stores today.

Last week I bought kielbassi to put in pork and sauerkrat and DH ate it. I bought it again today and told him it was for pork and sauerkraut and he ate it today for lunch. I also bought miniature Reeses cups for cookies, twice, and he ate them both times. Now I will waitvtil Im ready to bake the cookies to buy the peanut butter cups, and hide them from him.
Itslike having children! And he buys his own candy, too, and keeps it on top of the refrigerator where I cant reach. I also can only reach the first 2 cupboard shelves, not the top shelves.
  • DH doesn't like my HB either but his reason is I can't get the meat as thin as McDs does. He doesn't like my meatloaf because I like veggies like celery and onions in it and he doesn't. I'm not big on ground beef, but we both will eat it in spaghetti.

I had energy today although I did nap a couple of times today. I got up early and then when DH got up we went to the store. I took a nap after dinner and when I woke up I was ready to cut up the strawberries. DH put allulose in the strawberries and I bought 2 batches of blueberries because I want to start having it in a small serving of plain Greek yogurt. I also bought salad foods so I can have salads. I am feeling more energetic and will clean my veggies tomorrow and put them away so they will last a while. I learned years ago from DH#2 aunt who worked in fancy restaurants to wash my celery and wrap them in paper towels and put them in a baggy in the fridge and they last longer. I do that with Romaine lettuce too.

am going to cook shrimp scampi and drain the fat off mine and add it to my salad tomorrow.

I can only reach the first shelf in my kitchen cabinets and only things toward the front of the second. Anything above there is just storage.

I've eat more than I should today although not high calories because tacos never satisfy me for long. I told DH that I like my homemade tacos better cause I put more meat in mine. Plus I think the tacos we got from Taco Bell were smaller. I could have eaten 3 instead of just 2 cause there just wasn't as much lettuce, tomato or meat as usual.

    Goodnight.

  • Trish, I dont like Taco Bell tacos because I like a lot of lettuce, tomato and onion on them. Theirs are skimpy. We usually get soft tacos because DH doesnt like crunchy shells. He said they are like eating glass. Good description. Tou could add extra lettuce and tomato to the tacos when you get home. I buy a small jar of taco sauce to put on mine because DH doesnt like it. Neither of us likes salsa. We had tacos last week but I could have them again. DH said last time the tortillas I bought were too small. They said they were for tacos but I think I usually use the next bigger size. He likes to wrap them around so the stuff doesnt fall out.

I like my HB thicker and cooked on the George Foreman Grill. DH is the hamburger chef. I also put onion celery and shredded carrot in meatloaf but I chop them so tiny you dont know they are there. Some people put that in their hamburgers, too. Ground beef is very big in the carnivore and keto crowd. Im not into it that much. Many of them buy a huge package of ground beef, and they buy the high fat, and they cook it all up then freeze it. When they want it they just heat it up, add it to various, dishes. I like mine freshly cooked but dont knock it til you try it.

Scale is down .2 to 178.8. Not much but i like seeing the 78 instead of 79. Sleep was good.

Ive always been told to wrap celery in foil to keep it fresh and crunchy. I never seem to finish a whole stalk of celery, because I dont do that and it gets limp!

DH said that the guy at the meat store told him their ground meat is, dated for just 1 day, and what doesnt get sold by the exp date is thrown away. I find that very hard to believe. He said all the stores do that. He said if there is no meat out at the end of the day that is because they limit how much they put out at a time so its not wasted. The guy who owned the store was the best around. He owned 3 stores but now he retired and they are now run by corporate. If you asked for something inbhis, store and they didnt carry it, they would have it in a week or two. He listened to his customers. I shipped there all the time until I started shopping at Walmart. Much cheaper. Yesterday Walmart had no eggs. All they had were jumbo so I bought 1_ dozen. They were $6. I never let my eggs go below 2 dozen. I never run out of eggs. I think eggs will go back down because of Easter coming. The hens dont lay in the winter like they do in the summer, I think.
  • I forgot to get eggs yesterday as I thought I had 2 dozen. I intended to look to see the prices, but forgot that too.

I had a busy morning and got everything done that I had planned to do including my exercises. However, I got sick at my stomach and mostly slept after dinner. I think I am going to have to eat smaller meals instead of 2 or 3 meals because I am experiencing feeling too full. I think it has something to do with what they called an apron they removed during my surgery. I intended to ask oncologist about that and keep forgetting.

Weight was down .2 lbs. FBG was 109 and bp is always good now. I just need to learn how to eat more like small snacks rather than 2 or 3 meals.
