Carol Sue I will continue praying for you. We know this will pass but it is not easy going through it until it clears up. I pray the pain will go away soon.
Things are about the same here. I actually walked to the kitchen and back to LR without the walker. Still need to do the bike and then I will be finished with the exercise for today. Just continuing to do what I can do believing I will be able to do more as time goes on. Fatmad Prayers continue for you to get better each day. Have a blessed day everybody. |
Approximately 8 hours later the pain came back, so I'm continuing the Tylenol Arthritis, along with the antibiotic. I will take 1 until I see if it works before I take the second.
I am so glad you are starting to walk without your walker. This shows that the exercise is working! :cb::cp::cheer3: _________________________ DH bought a rotisserie chicken for dinner. I was so happy! I love rotisserie chicken and its so soft that I can eat it as long as I cut it into small pieces. He just tolerates it, so its great that he got it for me, and its good protein. I'm still in slight pain but I didn't want to take the second Tylonol. I will take 2 at bedtime to be sure I sleep. _____________________ It was a big mistake not to take the second pill and now its too late to take it. I will take 2 at bedtime and ever after until the pain is gone!! :(. Owwwww!! |
Carol Sue I am so sorry you aren't feeling better. I hope you get a good nights rest and feel much better tomorrow.
I got my exercises done and then I fell asleep. When I woke up I took a shower and then fell asleep for a while again. Sure hope I can sleep tonight. My eye appointment is at 1:30 tomorrow. Good night. |
Hai all: after listening to some of the Fasting podcasts, I am going to do a fat fast. I started last night. I did it at the beginning of IF, and sometimes for a day to start fasting after a holiday weekend of overeating, but the new idea is to extend it to a week or two weeks. The idea is to really beat the carb cravings, get bored with eating to some degree, and really get ready for an extended fast. It should curb appetite overall.
So yesterday was chicken salad with just chicken, mayo, celery and lettuce, and bacon for supper. Have not decided for today. I am "cheating" a bit with the veggies, but I will continue that. Maybe a caesar salad for lunch. It's a small list of foods. Carol: don't worry too much about the weight gain. That is the stress hormones from dental surgery causing some water retention. Get back to meds and plan, If you keep gaining, check with your doc, you may be going into more heart failure and retaining too much fluid! Best wishes for a good recovery. Trish: so glad for you that mobility is coming back. You are the best judge of your abilities and when to push and when to rest. I went to the pool and did a water fit class. A bit too easy I thought, but I was tired the rest of the day, so maybe it was more of a challenge than I thought. Have a good day friends. |
Mad, the chicken salad sounds really good. I used to eat things like that years back when I was single to maintain my weight. I didn't know it was a fat fast. At that time I was just trying to eat high protein, low carb. It worked and was something I liked. I hope it works for you.
I think my weight is up because I'm eating more. Now that my mouth hurts I'm only eating soft foods and not as much and I'm back to 169, and I hope to continue down. I think I'm doing good with my fluid retention and CHF. I go according to how my ring feels. Its usually loose. I'm doing well avoiding sodium. I'm to stay below 2000 and I'm usually 1500-1800. I don't eat many processed foods and I'm careful what I order in restaurants, requesting no seasoning. I was a little over yesterday with the rotisserie chicken but it was so good. I wonder how long this pain will continue from the extraction. Online it says it can last long. It seems it hurts more from eating. Soreness from moving my lower jaw. I'm better off if I eat things I don't have to chew like yogurt and mashed potatoes. I had some Jello today and I think the cold bothered me. It feels like the stitches are loosening up but I want them in as long as possible. I have to go for bloodwork and a chest xray after the 15th. Then the procedure on 11/14. I'm getting nervous but it has to be done. I didn't sleep well or much last night. There will probably be a nap today. Trish, I hope your eye exam goes well. |
Farmad You have always done very well on IF. So I'm sure you will do well on a Fat Fast.
Carol Sue I'm sorry you are having a lot of problems healing from the tooth extraction. I hope you will be better soon. Eye appointment went fine. I knew my eye sight has been a little off lately and it turns out that my cataracts are worse so it is time for me to have surgery. I had planned to do it this year and today I found out I can still have the surgery even on the maintenance medicine I'm on. Turns out they use it to treat some eye problems. I will talk to onchology and if they don't have a problem with it, I will go ahead and have cataract surgery as soon as it can be done. My insurabce is going up next year so I need to get things done as soon as possible and preferably this year. Didn't do all my exercises today, but I will do those tomorrow. |
I had a pretty good day today considering I didn't get much sleep. DH talked me into going to Walmart and I felt pretty good so that went well. We ate at Bob Evans and I had turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. I ate very small pieces and it was all soft. Now the pain meds are wearing off so pain is coming back. I think I will have this pain for a while and just have to be patient. Its only been 2 days but it feels like longer. Online it said its not uncommon for pain to last 10 days or so. It feels like someone punched me in the jaw. I think it would be easier if I wasn't also dealing with the congestion and coughing. The congestion gets worse when I'm lying down, and the coughing jars my jaw. A vicious cycle.
Trish, I hope your cataract treatment goes well. I also have to get my eye issues taken care of but that won't be til next year for me. One thing at a time. |
I slept really well last night, probably because I didn't sleep well the night before. The pain doesn't seem as bad and I'm not coughing as much. I'm getting into a habit of eating earlier. I don't know if that's good or bad. This morning I cooked sauteed mushrooms and scrambled eggs. Like an omelette but without the cheese. I don't like cheese with eggs.
I bought a new knee brace and I'm going to keep the old one in my exercise room. I don't wear it at home, only when I exercise. Sometimes I'm doing laundry and I dash in to do some exercise while clothes are drying. If I don't have the brace on I don't want to exercise long. They are <$4 at Walmart and they really help stabilize my knee. I have cleaning to do today. |
Carol: this is an improvement, not pain free, but improving so that you can do things.
Trish: getting the cataracts taken care of really improves quality of life, so hope that's ok to do asap. For me, the fat fasting is going well. I only ever did it for a day or two before, not going on for two weeks, which is now the recommendation. I really need to curb the carb cravings, so I will endeavour to do this for two weeks. In the meantime, I am losing well. below 170 at a solid 169 today. Still having loose BMs and low cramps with it, I hope that passes. One of the goals is also to provide boredom with what I eat, I am supposed to eat the same stuff all the time. I am not sure I will go that far. But I do plan to eat a caesar salad with a steak for supper. That is likely more protein that planned, so I will share the steak with DH and make a butter sauce or something.... Have to increase the fat somehow. Also have some avocados for the weekend. This is our Thanksgiving weekend, but the kids are busy with their partners' families, (we are flexible to our detriment sometimes). So no plans to cook a big meal or anything, which will make things easier for me. On another note: last night we went to a concert. Bonnie Raitt was playing in a town just 90 minutes from us, and it was incredible. Our seats were excellent. A smaller auditorium meant we could see her without screens and cameras like in arenas and stadiums. She is a beautiful 73, and still sounds amazing. Could see her hands as she played guitar. Never thought I would get to see a rock icon up close and personal like that. We were just 10 rows from the stage. But the flip side is that by the time we go to bed it was quite late, and I tend to feel a sleep hangover. I did sleep late at least. I guess it's not a long weekend for you two, but if any Canadians are lurking, Happy Thanksgiving! |
Fatmad Happy Thanksgiving weekend! I sent an email to oncologist to see if he will give me an okay to get the cataract surgery. Then I will have to figure out scheduling because I will have to work around a cat scan soon plus I want to have it done within a 21 day treatment and want to do it ASAP. DS tells me I'm going to be so happy once I have it done.
Carol Sue I am glad you were able to sleep and hope the pain is going away. Hopefully you will have a better day. I'm going to attempt cooking liver and onions today. I will ask DH to make the salad. Carol Sue you are wanting to eat earlier and I am wanting to fast and eat later, but I think that will probably wait until cataract surgery if oncologist allows me to have it. Have a great day everybody. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oncology RN emailed that doctor is out of the office and she will let me know what he says when he comes in Monday. So that is on hold. DH DGS that lived with us while going to college in SC is getting married this evening in FL. They are having it on live stream so we can watch it live. So I will take a nap until then. DH is going to set up our moving camera to try to copy it. Amazing how technology brings things together. We watched him graduate from college a few yrs ago on live streaming. |
Oh Trish, that is lovely. You would not be able to travel there right now, so this is an excellent alternative for you. Wonderful to see the next generation building their lives.
Carol: hope things are good. I had a good sleep last night. The fat fasting is going well. It's extreme Keto, but I have yet to get into ketosis. Strips are still negative. SO to me, that means I am using up stored glucose. Weight still at 169, but FBS is coming down. It was high, over 6 for the last couple of week that I have been testing, but was 5.6 today. So improving. I know I may dump some sugar with dawn effect, and that's fine because I need it out of my body. Hope you all have a nice weekend too. |
Pain is still coming and going. I found that putting ice on my jaw helps with pain so it must still be swollen. I'm still coughing up so much mucus. I don't know where its all coming from. But others are having so many worse problems than I.
Trish, I hope you enjoy seeing the wedding. We would not know how to do that. I hope your cataract surgery can be done soon and all goes well. Mad, i'm glad you are having success with your fat fast and you are able to maintain the losses. It may also help with your knee pain. No specific plans for today. |
It was nice to be able to watch the kids get married. She is a very nice young lady and comes from a home of lots of problems. I pray they will be very happy.n
Fatmad I never got into ketosis when I did Atkins but I did get all the benefits of it. I am thinking about doing Atkins or keto once I get past all this other stuff. I have heard of people who do keto get rid of a lot of their flab and with losing so quickly from the chemo, sutgery etc, I would hope it would help firm up some of that fat although at 80 I'm not sure it even matters. Carol Sue Could some of the mucus from cold/allergy problem be from the weather changes that are going on right now? Our weather is changing and it is 67degrees and this next week will mostly be in the 80s. It will be nice not to be in the 3 digit weather and of course a real relief on the utility bill. I hope the pain you've been having is starting to get better and will soon be a thing of the past. The liver and onions were okay but the liver needed to be fresher. I thought I had a fresher batch but I wonder if DH thought it was too old and threw it out or else it is hid behind something else in the freezer. I won't complain because I am so thankful that I have him. Today will be steak and a baked potato that I actually boil instead of bake and of course a salad. Today I had my protein shake for breakfast and I think I will have what we eat for dinner and then have another protein shake for supper. I want to keep losing weight and I need to get into a good eating routine. Hope everybody has a good weekend. |
Trish, you are doing very well with your eating and exercise. That's amazing after all you have been through this year. DH has done very well helping and supporting you through it all, too. You two are a great team! :congrat:
I think my congestion is from my cold I had last week the way it is settled in my chest. It is improving. I didn't cough as much last night. My jaw pain is improving too. But I'm just tired of all this and want it to be over. I definitely want the congestion gone so it doesn't interfere with me getting my heart procedure. I have some decongestant meds I could be taking but not until I can stop taking all this Tylenol that I'm taking for the pain. I just have to trust God that it will all turn out and stop worrying about it so much. For a few days we had to have our furnace on, at least at night. Then it got warmer and we didn't need heat or air condition. Now its going to get much colder so we will probably need heat again. I've been wearing an extra shirt under my nightgown. We are probably done with warm weather now until next spring! Mad, I'm sorry you didn't get to have a Thanksgiving get together but it sounds like that is turning out better for you. I don't know how I'm going to feel since my procedure is right before Thanksgiving here. I don't care if I don't get to joint in on Thanksgiving day but I might not be able to bake my pumpkin pies for everyone like I usually do. I don't know whether to buy all the ingredients or not. It would help if they moved the procedure up again at least one more week or moved it back again to the original date. I got a new phone and I'm in the middle of getting it set up. I hope I like it as much as the one I have. I got a great deal on it. I have had an LG phone the past 2 phones and I really like them, but LG no longer makes phones. They still sell one but its an older phone. I'm starting to have trouble with mine and didn't want to wait til it goes out altogether. So that's what I will be doing tomorrow. |
When I got up this morning I had very slight pain so I took 1 Tylenol. 4 hours later I'm ok, very slight pain. So I'm hoping I'll make it 4 more hours. I really, really, want this pain gone and not need the Tylenol. I still have the cough and congestion. I don't want to see a doctor because I go for blood work and chest xray soon. I think I can go after the 14th but I will call tomorrow to be sure. I never had congestion last this long. I don't have a fever. I'm breathing good and my oxygen is good. I'm coughing up mucus, but its still there. Only hot tea relieves it.
I'm not going to set up my new phone until tomorrow. If, for some reason it doesn't work, I don't want it to be a weekend. I've never had a problem before but there's a first time for everything. I have a sneaking suspicion that DH is going to want to go to the casino today, after the Steeler game. He wanted to go yesterday but I said No. Meanie! |
