All are welcome, even those without Diabetes. |
Carol Sue, (Wannabehealthy) I hope it’s ok to start this thread. I didn’t see one and I need to get all the information I can get from you all 🤗
pattygirl63, hello, I’m back. 🤗 fatmad, I hope you return 🤗 |
Hi Rennie. So glad to see you here. I have thought of you so often and wondered how you are doing. Glad you are starting this thread up again. I have moved to the thread that Carol Sue started on the on the low carb site, but I really don't do an actual low carb plan myself even though I use some low/carb even keto type products. I am actually doing pretty good at this point just counting calories. Yep, I'm still on MFP to do that. I don't think they are always 100% accurate on some of their counts, but I've tried other calorie counting sites, but find MFP is still the easiest because they have more items already on the site. I'm lazy and don't want to have to add all my foods counts to a new site.
How are you doing? What plan are you following now? Are you still working? I bet your kids are about grown since we were contact last. I don't know if you know I am now in TX. I look forward to catching up and hearing what is working for you. We seem to have the same goal. I want to get back down to 150 as well. Have a great day. |
So glad to see this thread! I haven't been on in a while and I have had some challenges with my blood sugar going up again. I was sad to see the thread wasn't active so i'll try to be on more often as I get myself back on track. I am struggling to get my diet back to where it works for me, I did like the Intermittent fasting and the results on my blood sugar and weight loss. I gained quite a bit back, to my highest weight ever, but i've been slowly losing while trying to walk more and get my mind right. I can't believe how stiff my hips and ankles have become. I'm pushing through it and trying to stretch but it has been a challenge. Last week was the best week i've had recently, I was able to push myself to get up and cook so that I will have the food available that I need to eat readily available. This has always been my struggle. My kids have been very supportive, even getting out to walk with me. My daughter, who is 17, just got her permit so after we walked she was able to get behind the wheel for the first time in the parking lot of the park where we walk. I might have heart attack before she is ready to drive alone but it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be! Hope to see more activity and will participate as well.

Momtopands, so glad to see you! Most people here joined a thread somewhere else but if this forum continues to work properly and more people post maybe we will come back.
Are you still working with the babies? How did things go over the pandemic? I think about you often. My weight loss is stalled but I'm trying to improve blood sugar. I will know in December if I succeeded. |
Quote:
Yes, I'm still working with babies. I have been here for 22 years and can't see myself doing anything else. I hope to retire from here. I didn't think i'd been gone so long but we were less affected on my unit that most areas, though we did have some challenges that spilled over onto us. For me, unlike most people, I loved the solitude of lockdown and the very slow restarting of society. I think I needed the reset. I have gotten off track with eating and my A1c showed it when I went to my doctor in September. It was back up to 7.6. Also I found out that my iron is low, which partially explains how tired I have been feeling. I'm hoping that getting back on my IF diet and starting to walk outside 3 times a week will get me back on track. This month is my 50th birthday and part of me is sad that I won't be where I want my health to be in any area. At least I can say that I am getting back on track and working toward my goals. I have been around the site so i'm participating in several areas. Hope to see you here and around. Adrienne |
Adrienne, don't think about not being where you want to be, think ahead to where you are gone by to be. We know the proper diet and exercise to do but have to have the determination to do it. FYI my health problems started around age 50!
|
Hi momtopands I still check in from time to time and will come back as long as 3fc is working and there are others posting here. I always loved 3fc site.
I know it is upsetting when we see where we are and where we could have been but the important thing is not giving up and keep working at it. I too love the IF woe. I try to low carb, but it is never as low as it should be so I guess I mostly do a moderate carb, low fat, between 1000 to 1400 calories. Some times I go over but I am trying to not do that so much these days. We just don't give up. So good for you getting back on track. I'm pretty much doing that right now myself so we can do it together. Your daughter driving in the parking lot reminds me of when my son was a teenager. I would pick him up from work at night and the high school was on the way home so we would go by there so he could practice driving in the parking lot. I was so glad when he could drive himself to and from work so I didn't have to go pick him up at midnight any more. |
Just a quick hello - glad to see this thread active again.

Hi Pipsicle! Good to see you here!
Ive been using MFP for several years. There were some features that were very important to me. One was my blog. I posted my personal thoughts there from time to time. Now I received a message that they are discontinuing blogs. I'm very disappointed as there are other things that i don't like and was very close to closing my account. But the things I do like have won out and I'm staying. Amazingly I found an online blog I started a few years back. After a few posts I was unable to find it again. I thought it had been removed. It seems miraculous that I found it today after learning that the MFP blog would be gone. So I'm all set and over my disappointment. 😊 It doesn't take much to make me happy. |
Hi Pipsicle, Happy to see you are still around. How are you doing.
My weight today is down to 180. Scale tried to go to 179.8 but just couldn't quite make it to stay there. FBG 97. Things are going good. I finally evaluated my own lifestyle and what I like and don't like and worked out my own "personal" health plan. I still use MFP to track my calories, protein and carbs, but I don't always get to the 1000 calories they recommend. I learned that I don't have to finalize my entries so that reprimand in red doesn't come up. Calories today will be 861 and net carb grams 75 and protein was over 90 so it will be a good day. I'm back to eating 2 meals and a snack within 6 to up to 9 hrs depending on hunger. A protein shake for breakfast and a lettuce/meat wrap for evening snack to close out the eating day. I also do some exercise almost everyday making at least 5 days a week the goal. I actually had a good week of exercise behind me this past week. |
Trish, my concern with MFP is not the reprimand for being below 1000 calories but the fact that it does not register your entry, and therefore does not enter it on Fitbit. This s why I find a way to increase it to 1000 so I get calories in against my calories burned on Fitbit. I don't really care if MFP likes it or not. You don't use Fitbit so you don't have to worry about that.
I felt that I had a good day today. My chicken for tomorrow still feels hard as a,rock even though its been in the refrigerator since last night. Tomorrow morning I will set it out on the stove so it defrosts faster. |
Carol Sue, I can understand why you do that on MFP as I thought I remember it is in sync with your Fitbit.
I'm reading a book now by Dr. William Davis titled Super Gut on how to reset your microbiome in 4 weeks. I watched him being interviewed online and decided it was worh spending the $15 to get it on kindle. I started reading the book and then decided to skip over to read summary of the 4 week plan. It is going to be low carb but not keto because you allowed 15 g net carbs per meal and absolutely no wheat or grains. Also he evidently tells how to make yogurt in different ways. |
Good morning everyone. I love this time change as I woke up early and ready to get up. I was also blessed with finally being under 180. Not much but weight was a solid 179.4. :carrot:It has really taken me a long time to get here. Now to just keep it going. FBG was 95 and I'm hoping to keep that down as well.
Have a blessed Sunday everybody. |
:dance:Yay Trish! So happy you made it to 179. I want to follow you. Scale was down a whole pound today, 185.4, and I think it was from Delay Don't Deny my eating yesterday. For some reason I love that empty feeling in my stomach. It makes me want to stay on plan because I know it will bring a loss on the scale. I probably ended up with 1000 calories at least so I didn't really starve myself. I was 85% full when I finally did eat. The only problem with doing this is I don't get my eggs. Maybe I will do this until I start to feel in control. Or maybe not every day. I will figure it out.
DH bought breakfast sandwiches from McDonalds but I didn't eat mine. Now I have a dilemma. I wanted to eat it later but now he wants to go to the casino and I want the casino burger. If i eat both and nothing else I will be at 1082 cals and 78 carbs. I think I need to stay in 4 hours. He was not going to go today but then he found out the Steelers are not playing today so now he wants to go. He wore me down and I've given up on telling him No. It just makes him miserable and that makes me miserable. I use it to make him do things I want to do. |
Carol Sue, Congratulations on the 1 lb loss to 185.4.:carrot: Won't be long till you will be in the 170s. The calories today won't be high and the carbs not really all that high with breakfast DH bought and the csino burger. Eating 2 meals with 4 or 5 hrs is a good thing. I know you read a lot at the casino so you have found a way to help you enjoy your time there.
|
Trish- I am doing pretty well on the weight loss front. In July, something shifted and after a two year plateau, the weight started coming off. I have lost 15 pounds since then! I wish I better understood what happened. Last month though, it stalled out again. I think it was mostly due to a lot of work stress. I now have a new job but it was really hard leaving a place that I had been for over a decade. I didn't want to leave. However, my new boss was really insecure and forced me out. Hoping now that the job change is done, I will start losing weight again.
Happy to see this thread is active again! |
Pipsicle, Congratulations on the 15 lbs lost. :carrot: I understand those stalls. I honestly believe that when that happens that our body needs time to adjust to it. However, I have also read that stress does also cause us to stall as well. Regardless of the cause, I hope settling into a new job will release you from all that stress.
|
I agree about the stalls, that our bodies are adjusting to the weight we recently lost. I've also heard that when we lose fat our bodies fill in the fat cells with water, assumes my that we will eat and regain the fat. When the body realizes that we are not regaining the fat it releases the water and we get a whoosh. I agree with you Pipsicle that it would be helpful if you knew what brought on the 15 lb loss. Then you could tell me!!
|
Just checking in to keep the thread going. Not much changed today. Weight basically the same at 179.8. Now just working to keep it. FBG was 101. That seems to bounce around but just glad it is still down.
Carol Sue hope you had a good day at casino yesterday. Have a gread day everybody. |
My weight went down to 184.6 but I was up half the night with potty issues so I don't know if this will hold.
We went to Wal-Mart and Goodwill but I told DH I wasn't going for breakfast so he ate at home. He made French toast and I cleaned up and threw the extra eggs away. I'm on this! If I hadn't been in the bathroom overnight I would have gone for breakfast. Once a week is ok. I finally have my chicken in the oven. It was still icy inside. I have it on a beer can rack so all the fat/grease will drain off. The casino was ok. DH broke even. I read a good book. I have a lot of free novels on my Kindle, I will probably never read them all. Good for you for holding the 179, Trish. I'm coming!! I am at the point where I always bounce back up so wee will see what happens. |
Update on reading the S uper Gut book by Dr. William Davis. This could get expensive but I think it could be done with more of a low carb or even keto. He mostly has you make and eat what he calls yogurt although he says it is not technically yogurt but fermented food made in a yogurt maker. As usual I don't want to cut back on some foods as far as he says or at least not at this time. I will start with the basics and keep wheat and grains at a minimum and see how it goes. Then after the hoidays, I may do the strict plan if I need to. I just don't want to spend all my time in the kitchen making so many different kinds of probiotic yogurts. I take this a little bit a time to learn how to do what is needed for my system. Might have gone the whole 9 yards if I had known about this when I was younger. Good info in the book.
|
Trish, I am not into yogurt making and fermented food but I hope it helps you.
I did well delaying my first meal today but I'm noticing some snacking sneaking in. I have to nip that in the bud. The chicken was good. Similar to rotisserie. I had mashed potatoes and california. blend veggies with it. I don't know what we will have tomorrow. Maybe go to Bob Evans. It has been light jacket weather lately but that is about to end. Down to 35 degrees tonight and just getting colder each day this week. I have 2 winter coats and I want to wash them. One is tan and one is navy and I alternate wearing them year to year. Last year was tan. I also have a leather jacket and a longer leather coat that I like to wear but they don't have hoods which are needed when its cold and blustery. Now with the time change I'm wanting to go to bed earlier. Zzzzzzz |
Carol Sue, I forget to Congratulations on the 184. It won't be long until we are both down in the 170s. Your roasted chicken sounded good.
I think the yogurt probiotics are good for us but I don't want to follow his diet plan. He mentions people eating keto and I've seen other low carb/carnivore docs talk about the probiotics so I don't think I have to go as strict as he talks about. We are in the 80s for a few days and then we are going to go down in the 50s so it will be jacket time again for us. Today has been pretty good eating wise, Not sure what my calories were but the sodium has been too high. Could take a Lasix but really don't want to so may just skip weighing tomorrow. I'm sure tomorrow will be McDs CB for us. I'll bring mine home and put the meat on SLMG bread as usual. We don't like the fish we've been getting lately. It looks good but when I open the back the catfish is too fishy even after cooking and the cod is tough. It is the same brand I always get at Sam's but the quality isn't as good as it was. They didn't have it for a while and I think they must get it from some where else. Makes it hard to decide what to cook when you only have chicken, beef and pork to choose from. |
Trish,I never cook fish. DH only likes fish breaded and fried. I used to buy these breaded Whiting fillets at Wal-Mart and I loved them but DH wouldn't even try it. They don't sell them anymore. It is hard to get good tasting fish in a restaurant. I love fish and used to eat mostly just chicken and fish. There was a guy named Ian who used to post on this forum. He lost a lot of weight and gave a lot of advice. He ate mostly canned fish. I think this is easier for someone who does not cook. I always wonder where these people go.
I recently got 2 free books from Kindle. One is How To Cook Fish and Pescaterian Diet and Cookbook. I haven't read them yet. Even if I learn different ways to cook it I know DH won't eat it. I'm just curious. I have stopped buying a lot of things that I believe are healthy that I used to snack on, or things I planned to eat for lunch. If its here I will eat it and I'm trying to eliminate excessive eating when not hungry. I think this is helping me. Its saving money, that's for sure. When I lived alone I hardly bought any food. I always had eggs. I worked for a food distribution company and there was always a lot of samples to snack on. I didn't have much money after I paid rent , utilities, gasoline and other necessities. So eating at work kept me from starving. DH made pancakes again this morning. There are 3 sitting on a plate in the kitchen. I would love to eat them! But I'm avoiding them and might freeze them. I can't bear the thought of throwing them away. I think its so unfair that I can't eat them. :(. I used to have a lot of pancakes in the freezer but threw them out when i cleaned out the freezer. Now I'm starting a new collection! I just love to eat a pancake topped with a fried egg but i have a very hard time stopping at one. I have to eat down the freezer so I have room to freeze cookies for Christmas. The upstairs freezer is getting better but the small freezer downstairs is stuffed. Most of what I have is frozen vegetables and some bags of chicken tenderloins and thighs. I have a box of egg rolls and a box of frozen burritos. I bought them impulsively to eat as snacks. I should probably just throw them away. These are the type of things I have to stop buying. I too am afraid to get on the scale today. When I hit 184 I tend to start back up. Maybe I will. ______________________________________ I got on the scale and its up to 185.0. I'm ok. I didn't think the 184.6 would hold since I was dehydrated from the potty issues the night before. Also I broke my fast with 1 fried egg on 1 pancake. I froze the other 2 pancakes. Now to stay away from food until dinner. I can't decide what to have because I'm not sure where we will go, but I don't intend to cook. |
Carol Sue, I got on the scale too and it was up to 180.6. So not too bad. I too am fine with that but want to be careful because I know I get here and then gain. Holidays are coming up and there are some things I want to be able to eat during that time and plan to just make them fit within my calories allowed. I have actually lost weight during hoidays years ago and I will try to do that now too.
Like you there are things that I don't buy any more either. Regardless of whether it is healthy or not and I can have them within my calories, but I don't need to buy them. For one thing I don't need them calling my name. Especially snack food. DH is up early and we are headed to Walmart. BBL |
Trish, in the past, especially when I was single and thin, I had a pact with myself not to start the New Year with holiday gain, and I don't want to do it this year either. The cookies I bake don't tempt me. They were always to be shared with the family and I was never big on sweets. On Thanksgiving I allow myself a serving of stuffing if its mine. I don't care much for others. I like sweet potatoes but not when they are loaded with brown sugar. Sometimes I take a tiny spoonful not to be rude. Christmas is the same. I like baked ham but not really the sides that go with it.
Today DH went out to play the lottery and bought cupcakes. He usually just buys white batter as he does not like chocolate. He said "I didn't notice that this pack had 3 white and 3 chocolate so you will have to eat the chocolate. ". I told him if I don't eat them just throw them away. He said he will give them to step daughter. He will do anything to get me off my diet!! Here's to holiday losses for both of us! I want to start the new year firmly planted in the 170s. ! |
Carol Sue, DH is a stinker isn't he. Maybe if he has to give it the food to your step daughter or throw it out to the birds, he just might learn not to tempt you with the food. Perhaps because he knows he needs to be more careful, he is wanting a partner in crime so to speak.
Thanks to you I was able to get the calf liver at Walmart today. Thanks for telling me about it. I had to ask a laddy who was filling orders to be either delivered or picked up, but she showed me where to find them. They had both beef and calf but I live the calf better so I was able to get 2 packages and I was so happy to see they are packaged like the ones I liked when I could to get it at only one of the local stores that carried it, but they don't have it all the time. II like them because they are easier to handle and we get 2 meals out of it. I was also able to get medium shrimp with the tail off so got a package of those as well to make shrimp scampi. Mine doesn't look like the scampi at Olive Garden but then we don't eat ours on pasta at home. I ended up with 1 meal and a snack within 4 hrs but I still ate a lot of calories. I think I'm going to start eating my fruit in the morning along with some eggs. I had been buying brown cagefree eggs up until last month when I switched back to white because of the high price of the brown. I have one more carton of white, but they are so much smaller and just don't taste the same as the brown to me which are larger. Although they try to tell us there is no difference in the white and brown I still believe the brown eggs are so much better. When we had our little farm and I researched to raise chickens for eggs and meat, they always said the brown eggs were healthier and more nutritious. So I got spoiled with the brown eggs got when I raised my own chickens. DH told me that his FBG was 114 today. Mine was 95. The interesting thing about that is that we ate corn on the cob with our meal yesterday. I don't really think it is necessary for us to give up grains. Anyway he thinks the beans may be what is bringing his BS down because it is always lower the day after we eat them. Also we didn't eat a lot of meat yesterday, but did eat green beans that I cooked with ham pieces in them as our main dish. I am going to soak navy beans tonight (the only ones he likes) for our meal tomorrow and will cook them with ham pieces. I will also cook a small pot of lentils for me. We eat them as a side dish for most meals although we also have days they are the main dish. I'm also thinking I'm eating too much food in order to eat just 2 meals are 1 meal and a snack within 4 hrs. So I may need to break my food up into 2 meals and a snack within 6 or 8 hrs instead. I will have to see how that goes. I still want to stop eating no later than 6 pm.. Which the time change I'm getting up early so I could do that very easily. |
I am happy to say that the scale was at 184.4 this morning. This is a true reading because I had no issues. I hope I can keep from regaining.
Trish, I don't think too much food is an issue when you have a very small eating window. You have to eat a big meal to get all your nutrients. I lose much better with a 4 hour window. Last night DH ate a chocolate cupcake and said it was pretty good. He ate the top with the icing and probably thought I would take the bottom but I didn't and he ate it. I am getting stronger at refusing things. Every time I refuse I get stronger. He doesn't ask as often now. I don't understand WHY he isn't encouraging me. When I first started gaining weight he wasn't happy and made a few comments. He likes thin women. He often tells me I'm fine as I am but there's a big difference between 185 and 135 that I was when we got married. I don't ever expect to be 135 again but 150 ish would be fine. Sometimes like today I have trouble delaying my first meal. I want to eat but I can't really say I'm hungry. It is my nature to eat breakfast but skipping it allows me to eat dinner with DH which is what he wants. He still delays breakfast but not as long as I do. I'm glad your DHs fasting blood sugar is improving. Mine is too, and also my post prandial. I have been taking half of my meds most days. Today I want to do laundry and clean the bathroom. I am glad the election is over. I got to the point that I didn't care who won as long as the ads stopped! They no longer tell you what they stand for but just criticize the opponent. |
Carol Sue Glad you were able to keep the 184.4 lbs. I was back down to the 179.8 lbs so I feel the same way you do about being able to keep it. FBG was 94 so that is good too.
It is so obvious the little things your DH is doing to try to tempt you to eat the junk foods he eats. I agree that the more you resist the easier it will get for you. Nothing new here. Beans is the main meal today for us at DH request. At this time it will probably end up being a 2 meal day within 4 hrs unless I do get hungry for a snack then it will be 2M + 1S within 6 hrs. |
Yes, Trish, for so long I gladly accepted the snacks DH offered and ate what he ate. I have changed, but it is because I gained all this weight and want to lose it and improve my health. I shouldn't have allowed this gain and the development of the diabetes and heart disease. And I would think he would be in favor of these improvements. Doesn't he want a slim and healthy wife? I'm hurt and disappear longer that I don't have his support. I don't want to believe that its intentional but it sure seems that way.
Glad to hear you are back to 179. Hang on, I'm coming!! |
Carol Sue, I don't think he does it intentionally as much as it is just his nature. I'm sorry he seems to have a difficult time learning to support you. I have to say the only way DH ever learned to support me and how I eat didn't happen until he became diabetic. He was never a big eater althought it was mostly junk food, but I have to say he is good about doing what he needs to do to lower his bs. I read somewhere one time that men are better at getting on diet plan and sticking withit when it means their health.
I probably will have a weight gain tomorrow because I haven't been very good with my eating today although I did wait until I was hungry and and still managed to eat within almost 9 hr window. |
Trish, DH truly believes he eats healthy! He thinks sugar is a necessary nutrient. He says he has been a big sugar eater all his life and he's still here at almost 80. He is getting better at not offering me things 60% of the time. He just made a,sandwich for himself at 11:30 at night but did not offer me any. Yay!
|
I had a tiny bump up. I'm ok with that. Eating is still good, 1000-1100 calories, 50-60 carbs in a 4 hour window. My body is getting used to the small window. 2 meals, with brunch being smaller than before, just enough to hold me til dinner. I eat a normal dinner, making sure I get enough calories. And I eat things I like. So I'm happy with this plan as long as weight continues to go down even though its slow.
I'm finally tired of hamburgers. I bought some green bell peppers to make stuffed peppers for dinner. For me, that is a complete meal, meat, vegetable and rice, but DH likes something else with it. I saw a recipe online that I want to make. Chicken fries. You cut boneless breasts in small strips like French fries, dip them in flour, egg, and bread crumbs, the bake in the oven. I like chicken and always look for recipes that DH will eat too. _________________________________________ I went on MFP and entered the ingredients for my stuffed peppers separately, then I checked their entries and found one that came closest to the nutritional info. I had been using one that had 500+ calories but.mine only came to 325. I use 4 oz of ground beef per pepper and about a quarter cup of brown rice, and spices. Pretty basic. I will only be at 800+ calories and 50 GM carb. I talked to step daughter about Thanksgiving. I'm glad she took over hosting. I am going over early in the morning to help her get the turkey ready for the oven. DH doesn't want her to poison everyone! This is her second time and I will let her do it and just make sure she is doing it right. It is a lot to do and remember with also putting the side dishes together. I don't want her to feel overwhelmed. |
My weight was up only .2 lbs today so that isn't bad. Today I haven't eaten anything because I wasn't hungry. Today I started using the new Walmart brand bs metter and it show my FBG up to 106. I hope that was the heavy carb snack and not a meter that reads higher than the old one.
Carol Sue The chicken fries sound good. We would like that. I make chicken nuggets by cutting checken tenders into bite sizes and cook them. We aren't planning anything for Thanksgiving. DS will go to her daughters. We were invited but with the economy as it is we really take that money and save it for other things. BS doesn't have any plans either but I suspect she will go to one of her son's houses. We will stay home. It is nice of you to go help your step daughter with her meal and it is nice that she is willing to take it over. Pork chops on the menu for today. I will have a salad and DH will have salad and beans. Today will be either a 1 or 2 meal. Have a good day everybody. |
I will probably cook a small turkey for us at home because we like the leftover turkey with mushroom soup. When I hosted I always cooked 2 small turkeys so there was more dark meat and enough leftovers for everyone to take home. I even bought disposable containers so they could take sides home, too. DH will not eat leftovers from someone else. He is funny.
My peppers turned out good but I only ate a half. I don't know if I will get hungry for that other half later or just throw it out. I am learning to throw things out instead of overeating. Its about time. When I got my new meter I still had strips from the old one so I tested with both and compared to be sure they were close. They will not be exactly the same. They are still selling the old strips so I'm using both. For some reason I prefer the old one. |
Carol Sue, I prefer the old ones to and wish they would continue them, but whatever. I kept the old meter just in case they decide to. When I made my stuffed bell pepper, I only made half and it was enough for me to eat.
Today I ate main meal around 3:30 pm and then had a few bites of ham and a cheese stick around 11 pm because I was hungry. That gave me approximately 1 meal and a snack 8 hrs apart. I was surprised that I only wanted just/needed a few bites and was satisfied. I do believe my stomach is shrinking. Going to bed now. Goodnight. |
Trish, I read about stomach shrinking and it says that is a myth. Your stomach can stretch when you overeat but when you don't overeat it will go back to normal size. It won't get smaller. Your fullness could be from one of 2 things. You have been eating less for a while now and your body now is satisfied with less food. Or the ham and cheese is high fat and fat makes you feel full sooner. Higher satiety. This is why they say if you eat eggs and bacon for breakfast you won't get hungry for hours but if you eat cereal or pancakes you will be hungry in a short time. DH has a tendency to eat pancakes or pastry for breakfast and I guess this is why he gets hungry sooner. Then he eats noodles for lunch but gets hungry for dinner soon afterwards. If I didn't cook he wouldn't eat much meat. Just a hamburger once in a while. I used to eat like that after we got married and I honestly miss those foods. Big breakfasts with pancakes or waffles, home fries. Macaroni and cheese. Spaghetti. Sandwiches. I am learning to avoid those foods because of my blood sugar. I still like them, but I don't know if I could ever go back to eating like that. My brain tells me not to do it.
I have been sleeping well recently. It goes in spurts. I have bad nights here and there. I don't take the Magnesium every night because sometimes I get potty issues even if it says it doesn't cause them. I take it if I know I'm not going anywhere the next day. I don't know why Wal-Mart still sells the old strips. When I buy them they are not out of date. I take the old one with me in the glove compartment when we will be gone for hours. I test several times per day. I also carry meds in a little pill box in my purse in case I need them. I have 1 month until I see the doctor and get blood work. I am really looking forward to seeing my A1c. I still get some higher spikes once in a while but rarely over 200, and other times its under 150 even after meals. It only takes a small amount of carbs to spike. I will be happy if A1c is a low 6. _____________________ DH just ate his second meal. I have not had my first!! |
Carol Sue, I'm sure what you've read about the stomach shrinking right. Actually with the food I've been eat such as the beans almosrt everyday, feels me up really fast and if I overdo it, I am extremely uncomfortable. That will actually keep me on track being extra careful not only of what I eat but how much.
I started the probiotic today for my bones and one that is supposed to help me lose weight while healing my digestive track. I researched to see which one was the best and I also have a batch of yogurt in the new yogurt maker that Dr. William Davis recommends. It takes 36 hrs for it to make in order to get the best benefits so it won't be ready until tomorrow just before noon. Most of the reviews I read on these brands said they start having more energy and less depression. You can't take everything so you have to choose what fits you personally. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works for DH and me. Shrimp Scampi on the menu today. I had 2 eggs, 1.5 sl bacon with a little bit of cheese on it. Then I had some fruit. I probably won't need anything this evening to eat but I do have the protein shake figured in just in case I need it. It also helps get my calories up on MFP. Weight is hung up at 180 but that is okay as I assume my body is just adjusting. FBG on the new meter said 105. I decided to be happy that since it the A1c wll still be 5. DH won't be happy with the new one when he has to switch. Maybe I should buy some of the old ones while they have them so he can keep using them. He gets so upset about the bouncing readings. Some days in 130s and others as low as 112. Of course I know it takes a while for it to settle but he has to learn that for himself just as I did. Lurkers  Have a nice day everybody. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A really good eating day. I did just the 2 meals today and ate nothing after 4 pm. Had some potty issues but I figure that is the probiotics relieving the bloating I've had lately. Hope the scale and the diabetic meter are nice to me tomorrow. |
Trish I think you should do a test with both of your meters at the same time and see how far off they are. Mine are the same or off a couple points. If your husband still has strips use one of his or buy a small package.
My blood sugar is 99 going to bed. We will see what it is when I get up tomorrow. I hope the scale and meter are good to both of us. |
