Mad, I'm glad your eating worked out for you while you were gone. I'm sure it was tempting to eat.
If I had felt sick longer than 1 or 2 days or if I had a fever I would have been tested but it cleared up fast. I didn't see the benefit of getting tested under those circumstances. There's talk of requiring vaccine to enter any restaurants in which case my diet will be greatly affected. I can only wish they would include casinos! I got 1 batch of chocolate chip cookies baked and want to do another batch after dinner. They are my biggest requested cookie in my family, that and apricot horns. All the others I can make a half batch. |
Fatmad Glad you eating went well and no weight gain from it. Your fasting definitely works for you.
Carol Sue So glad you are feeling better and enjoying your baking for the kids. I still haven't decided if I want to do anything like that. I think about it but that is as far as it goes. We got used to not eating out when everything was closed down there for a while. Then we started buying food from fast food to bring home. Some places still do only take out services so I have to say it is really nice when we can get out to go in a restaurant to eat. The only thing is that there aren't that many that are open to walk in and service so when people go out you may have a wait. We always go to this steakhouse because it is on this side of town and don't have a wait time. They usually have alot of workers there and they evidently had to call in people to work over time so they could serve their customers yesterday. I not only saw waitress/waiters coming in but I think I saw a cook come in as well. I had a bad night last night with my stomach. I had potty issues when I got home but it didn't last long. But when I went to bed, my stomach was bothering me and my legs were so swollen, I couldn't get comfortable. I took my Lasix and after a few trips to the bathroom, I must have fallen asleep in my recliner, because when I woke up at 4:30 am, DH had gone to bed so I got up and went back to bed and slept until 10 am. Very rare for me to sleep so late. I remember thinking the aujoure steak sause was way too salty and I guess I reacted to it. Not sure what spices they use in it. Iwill have to watch that from now. I usually just dip my pieces of steak in it but the potatoes were soo dry I poured it over them so way over did it. Surprise was that weight was down 1 lb this morning and the shocker was FBG was 89. The only time I ever remember having a low was when I had to stop using G. So I was really shocked. I am going to practice counting carbs the way this Low-Carb Dieting for Dummies recommends. I have to read more to see if or how I count the other foods. The way it works is Total carb gram - fiber gram = carb. Example, 6 to 10 g carb = 1/2 carb; 11 to 19 = 1 carb. My 1 egg, cheese, Canadian bacon egg and MG muffin was 1 carb. My homemade pizza will be 2 carbs The MG cracker serving I like with my salad will be 1/2 carb. The book recommends no less than 3 carbs a day but no more than 5 to lose weight. It is a lowfat diet. I think this will give me a better understanding of how and why WWSF works so well so that I can do a better job with it. Saw the terrible storm that went through Kentuckly and Illinois. Praying for those who have gone through this disaster for safety for any of our people on 3fc that may have been affected directly or indirectly. Have a good day everybody. |
Trish, some of out fast food places are still drive thru only, McDonalds, Wendys, Arbys. I liked to go inside and read the menu before I ordered but at the drive thru they want to take your order as soon as you pull up. I don't like that.
I had a high carb day today. I baked cookies then was going to eat eggs but DH made baked potatoes so I ate one. Then he wanted pizza for dinner so I ate one slice. So the only protein I had was the sausage on the pizza. I will try not to eat anything else as I am not hungry. I can at least observe my eating window. This morning I woke up to a bright flash of lightening and a loud clap of thunder. DH told me of hearing about the tornados. We had rain all day and dropping temperatures. Trish, your governor was interviewed on TV last night and he said he is in favor of lifting restrictions and mandates in Texas. I agree with Mad that many restaurant workers have gone to better paying jobs. Only 2 restaurants here have closed completely but most are operating on reduced hours. Its sad because they cannot make it financially that way. I was reading about Covid symptoms and it said that sore throat is one of the lesser symptoms. Surprisingly, loss of sense of smell is on the top of the list. I have had a poor sense of smell since I was a teen, probably due to nasal allergies. |
Well, I guess I haven't had the covid at all nor DH as our sense of smell is really excellent. In fact, there are times when I am near places where they are cooking and it smells so good I am really tempted to stop to buy it and bring it home.
Today has been good eating day. I only ate 4 starchy carbs and plan to do my best not to eat more than that each day. Doing laundry tonight and running the dishwasher as well. We are watching Christmas movies. DH found a really old Santa Claus moviei that must have been made when we were young kids. Hoping for another good nights sleep, hoping I can go to sleep earlier to get it so I can get up earlier tomorrow. Goodnight. |
Sleep wasn't great. I did not take Magnesium because I had potty issues yesterday. I don't know if the Magnesium caused it. This magnesium is not supposed to cause it. But it is supposed to help sleep. I don't know.
I remember as a teen, someone would mention smelling something but I would have to get close and sniff deeply to smell it. I think it's because I have a lot of nasal congestion. DH and his daughter both have very sensitive sense of smell. If I want to test mine I put on some cologne. I can usually smell that easily so if I can't I know I have lost my sense of smell completely. One time in my apartment I turned on the gas oven to cook. My date showed up and started yelling and opening windows. I thought the gas lit but it did not. If he didn't show up I would not be here telling this story. To this day I cannot smell gas. I think DH is going to want to go to the casino today because the Steelers are not playing today. I really don't want to go. I want to bake more cookies. I think DH is on a,diet. He has not eaten breakfast for a week or so, and is eating less, much smaller portions. He never tells me how much he weighs or mentions when he's trying to lose. I talk about it constantly! |
Nothing new here. Weight basically the same up .6 but not a real gain. I'm working on D2 of my low-carbing plan. I didn't go to bed until 2 am because I wanted to get laundry and dishes done and put away so I didn't have to get up and do it today. Slept good but got up earlier than yesterday so not sure yesterdays weigh in was accurate and since I've changed WI day to Thursday, it doesn't matter. FBG 97 and bp is really good.
Carol Sue My magnesium isn't supposed to cause potty issues but I'm not sure it doesn't. Hard to tell right now because I'm also eating more fiber, but not working at doing too much of it. So not sure if I should take it everyday. I am not experiencing diahrrea but I do need to be near a bathroom when I need it if you know what I mean. I hope DH decides not to go to casino. Maybe the baking will win. If not I hope things go well at the casino. Which one will you be going to? I had a 1 carb breakfast and will end up with a 2 carb dinner which is roast with baby potatoes and carrots along with our usual salad. I cut a roast in half and cooking it now till it falls apart. It must have been smaller than I thought it was because there will be no leftovers today. I just hope it is enough to satisfy us. BBL |
Yes, we went to the casino, the old one, and I'm happy we went because it was a successful trip! But it did take up a day I wanted for baking.
I gave up on weighing. I'm just not doing well with my eating and fasting. I want to get back on track but I'm not sure i'll do it before the New Year. Too many things going on. DH already told me he wants to go out for breakfast tomorrow and to Goodwill. I am like a little lamb that follows him around everywhere. I haven't had a good roast for a while. Yours sound good with the potatoes and carrots. We were also talking that we are hungry for stuffed cabbage rolls. I also want to make a meatloaf and tacos. I like homemade better than Taco Bell. So I will have to go to the meat store we like for ground beef. While I'm there I will probably get my ham for Christmas. Remember there for a while I was turned off of eating meat. I'm still not big on pork chops but I'm starting to crave beef again. I don't know why I get turned off once in a while. I guess I'll go to bed and maybe I can get a batch of cookies made before we leave tomorrow, or at least get the batter made to bake when we get home. |
Carol Sue I have learned that when I start craving meat is when find I want to do strict low carb, but I have also learned the bad thing about that is probably why I can't do it long term because I get bored with it and either lose interest in meat or don't want it at all. I'm not being as good with my eating either. I am not sure I will be until the new year either.
Glad your trip to the casino was a good one. Headed to bed soon and hoping for a good nights sleep. |
I only slept for 4.5 hours but Fitbit says it was good sleep and I agree. Today I have proof that the accuracy of Fitbit is limited. It says that I napped yesterday from 4-5pm. At that time I was in the food court of the casino deep in a book on my Kindle. I was nearing the end and couldn't wait to see how it ended. I read somewhere that if you are very still for an extended period of time with low even breathing, the Fitbit senses that you are asleep. I know for a fact that I did not fall asleep in the casino!!
It was around midnight by the time I went to bed. I took magnesium and tart cherry. I woke up around 5 am which is when I usually wake up. Sometimes I can fall back to sleep, sometimes not. DH says I wake up early because I go to bed early. That was not the case last night. He also says that the casino makes me tired so I will sleep good. Also not true. It is stimulating and I'm keyed up when I get home. I did not get my relaxing time before going to bed. I actually felt wide awake. He was already in bed, watching tv. I went in singing "Midnight At the Oasis.". He did not appreciate it. ;) For the past couple years I have not liked hamburgers. I also haven't liked cheese. Its ok on pizza or in lasagna but I would not eat it on a,sandwich, in a salad or an omlette. Some of the cheese I've bought at home has gone moldy. Yesterday at the casino I ate a cheeseburger! I was craving it and it was very good. I hope I don't start overeating again and gain. When I got home last night I was craving cauliflower but it was too late for that. Now I feel very hungry. I hope we don't go for breakfast until after 10am. Its like I'm getting my appetite back. I'll bet the magnesium is doing this. At least I'm not craving sweets. I am heart sick seeing all the devastation from the tornados on TV. Whole towns are gone! Here and there you can see houses that are still standing with little damage, but I doubt if there are any utilities available. My heart breaks for those people who have lost everything but the clothes on their backs. |
Hi friends: I did not fast yesterday. I am having a flare up of the auto-immune stuff, ashiness and fatigue. So I ate (too many carbs) comfort food and rested.
so today started at 158. I have my booster booked later today and I plan to fast today, we will see how things go. Slept well and feeling not too bad so far today. Stay well |
Fatmad Sorry you are having an flare up with immune stuff. I hope your booster goes well. I talked to our doctor's nurse this morning and she says we are on the list and usually takes about 2 weeks to get set up and they do them on Thursdays.
Carol Sue Interesting about the Fitbit. I think I can get a free Fitbit or some other brand (can't remember which) with my new Medicare Advantage plan. I can join a gym probably YMCA but it is too far to drive just to exercise. Besides my favorite machine was the recumbant bike and I have one of those and just need to get back in the routine of using it. Weight was up to 185 so I got notebook paper out and working at getting back on WWSF and stick mostly to 0 bpts foods where I can. I had 0 pt breakfast this morning. Apple cinnamon oats are such a good 0 pt breakfast. There are plenty of food I like on SF that I can choose from. FBG 95. BP 113/61 so although weight isn't down everything else is excellent. |
Trish, I can get a,free gym membership also and there are several nearby to choose from. For years I went to different places when I was single. Once I got exercise equipment at home I prefer that. In the time it takes to travel to and from the gym I can be finished exercising. I don't have to wait for someone else to get finished. This is what I like best.
DH just ate French fries for dinner and I ate a few, now I am cooking cauliflower that I was craving last night. I fell asleep during General Hospital and continued to sleep thru the cooking show. I just didn't get enough sleep last night. Trish, good for you on getting back to WWSF. That should get you back on track. |
Carol Sue I feel the same way. It would take me a good 30 minutes to just drive to the gym and then park and go in to exercise and 30 minutes back home. That is a waste of time to me. Therefore it is better for me to do my exercises here at home.
I basically had 2 meals and then ate a slice of Canadian bacon with my collagen coffee to take the final pills of the day. So I am through for the day and planning a fast at least until noon or maybe even 3 pm tomorrow since that will be a KFC day. So far Day 1 of WWSF has gone very well of course the key is to turn one good day into more. One day at a time. |
Trish, when I was single, my gym time was a social thing as mostly I went with friends. It was something we did together. When I met DH he discouraged me from going and didn't want me hanging out with single friends. He has not been a good influence on my eating and exercising, but he does encourage me to exercise at home.
I slept very well last night although I had some back pain. I agree to turning a good day into a series of good days! Keep going Trish! :cheer: |
I guess I did okay yesterday although I did eat a snack later in the evening. Weight down 1 lb today back to 184. Having a egg, cheese, and CB muffin this morning and a banana for fruit. WG is 0 pt on SF but I eat the MG and count it 0 pt as well. I used 1 egg and on sl CB and just enough Velveeta shredded for taste so it comes out to 0 pts. When I have oatmeal I make half a serving and fruit and FF Greek yogurt so it is a 0 pts breakfast as well. I can alternate that eash day. I don't actually count anything and there are some foods during the day that have pts, but not that many. So I don't worry about it. I am pretty much doing my own version of the combo of the WWSF and the Low-carbing for dummies thing. If isn't 100% either because I am only eating if and when I am hungry except for planned main meal with DH. Otherwise, I am trying to learn not to eat by the clock but by hunger signals.
I actually ate breakfast today because I was beginning to feel funny like I needed something. I've been drinking a hot tea mixture of steaming 1 bag green tea and a bag of lemon/ginger 1st thing in the morning before drinking my 1st c of coffee. I noticed this morning after drinking the tea feeling like my bs was dropping. Since my FBG was 92 this morning and we are going to Sam's and Walmart today, I needed to eat something. Today is KFC day. Since I can have potatoes on SF, I made mashed potatoes for me yesterday and have half left over. I will add a little regular jar gravy to it and have it with my chicken and a finger salad. Fatmad I hope your booster went well and you are having no real side effects from it. My sisters said thier arms were sore but aht was all. I hope it will be the same for you. I wondered if they let you take it with your immune issues acting up? I saw today where Pfizer came out with a pill that appears to work better... 89% better protection. I wonder if that will eventually take the place of the vaccines. Have a nice day everybody. |
