I'm glad to hear you're having a good time Shannon. Don't worry about not staying low carb. You will do fine. It's good that your husband brought up that he wants to lose weight. It has to come from him. You can't force him, but you are setting a good example and that should inspire him. Good luck! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Trish, when I lost weight the first time I maintained the loss for 10 years by eating primarily low carb. It wasn't until I married my husband that I eventually started eating carbs again and gained it all back and then some. Carbs are NOT my friend. I know that many people say that you need carbs, and it's true. I eat carbs in the form of vegetables and beans. It's the starchy carbs that get me in trouble. Numbers don't lie. That's just me. I envy those like my husband who can eat carbs and not gain weight, but I'm just fooling myself if I think I can do it.

My husband always argued with me that carbs do not make you gain weight, using himself as an example. When he got sick recently he started to lose weight. Now he is trying to maintain the loss and I have noticed that he is eating very little carbs. When he eats a sandwich, he omits one slice of the bread or bun. And yesterday, when I went to make potato salad I noticed that my potatoes are all shriveling up because no one is eating them. He hasn't been buying any donuts or cookies, either. He would NEVER admit to me that he's cutting back on carbs. LOL

pattygirl63 05-27-2014 11:00 AM

Shannon So glad you are having a good time. I lived in FL (not sure that is where you are or not as I think there's another one somewhere) for 4 yrs and never got to see Busch Gardens and some other places I still want to go see. Maybe if my son moves there like his companion wants to do I can see it then. It will really help if your DH decides to lose weight too. Enjoy your trip and I'm sure you will do fine with the eating.

Carol Sue In Thin for Life, they say many people lose weight with low carb, but they don't maintain with it. I don't think that is true because I see people on another site and also we have Kim on Atkins that have kept the weight down with it.

I too know that I have my limits on how many carbs that I can and cannot eat. I had a little more carbs the past two days... eating at Huddle House really derailed me, but I'm back to eating the way I know I have to eat. I still am eating low carbish Intuitively. I have my plan for today already planned out. I've changed some things on MFP. I lowered my calories to 1500 although I don't plan to go over 1200 most days and I changed my exercise to 20 minutes on recumbent bike 4 days a week instead of 30 minutes 3 days. Even watching tv, I get bored riding longer and perhaps 4 to 5 days at 20 minutes will be easier. Of course, cutting back the carbs back some will help me to feel more like exercise so I may do more some days and might also do 5 days instead of the 4 planned. It seems like if I'm eating right that I seem to have more energy.

I've decided that the only days on my trip that I will be at someone elses mercy on decisions of what to eat will be at Tony's son's house. After that I will have more leverage. When I get to my sister's house, I can eat pretty much OP. I'm thinking about doing CAD most days using the Atkins shakes. I could use the shakes for 2 or 3 times a day in place of meals and then eat whatever I have to eat when eating out. On the day we go we will be eating before we get to their house, so we will only be at his son's house for 2 full day when we will eat out with them. It isn't an exact CAD plan as Atkins shakes aren't really on CAD, but it will be a modified way to get me through those 2 days and keep me low carbish. When I get to my sister's, I can go buy eggs etc for my breakfast and sandwich meat etc for snacks. In fact, I've seen salads... egg/tuna salads in stores (probably not exactly low carb) that could be used maybe even in place of a shake. I think once I get even a Modified Low Carb plan in my head that I will be able to relax about all this. I just don't want to lose the ground I've gained up to this point. I sure would like to come back home at least at the weight I am when I leave and my fbs in a good range.

pattygirl63 05-27-2014 11:09 AM

Carol Sue No the numbers don't lie. That is what my doctor said when I told him that I could not eat oatmeal. And neither does the way my body reacts to too many starchy carbs. I had too many starchy carbs yesterday for me. To someone else it would have been a good day, but not for me. When I got ready to go to bed last night, I found a rash under my right breast. When a rash pops out anywhere on my body, it is a way that my body is telling me that I've gone too far on the carby stuff. My fbs was 132 yesterday, but I figured that was because I was up at 4:30 because I wasn't able to sleep more than 4 hrs and took fbs early. Today after a good nights sleep, it was 135. So we know that our bodies have special ways of telling us to back off of the carby foods. Our numbers don't lie.

Wannabehealthy 05-27-2014 12:27 PM

Trish, I think the studies show that 80% of people who lose weight aren't able to maintain long term, no matter what plan they follow. Look at how many people are on 3FatChicks who say they regained and are trying again. So it's not just low carb. This is why they say you should choose a plan you can stay on for the rest of your life, because you can't go back to the way you ate before and expect to maintain your loss. Anyone can say anything in a book. I think the Atkins book says that people who follow low fat or low calorie can't maintain. ...it's up to the individual person to find what works for them.

I think you will do fine on your trip. If faced with food that is not low carb, fill up on vegetables and water and eat small portions of everything else.

I agree 100%.

Still eating "reasonably" over here. The amount of walking and sweating is probably offsetting the carbs I am eating. Sticking to water and unsweet tea for beverages. Brought some Atkins snacks with me for treats. Even though I am not on plan this is probably the best I've ever eaten on a vacation, so far, so I have definitely made progress in my "lifestyle change".

Shannonsnail 05-28-2014 08:48 PM

Argh....reasonable ended at dinner tonight, it was a carb festival. I was HALT -hungry, angry, lonely and tired. Oh well, tomorrow comes soon enough :-)

Wannabehealthy 05-29-2014 09:07 AM

Shannon, don't dwell on one bad meal. You just get back on plan. All the walking is very good! I'll bet Olivia is having a ball! :smug:

Today, my FBG was 120, the best I've had in a while, so I've been no angel either. My weight is up 3 lbs. But I'll get it back down again.

I saw this article in our local newspaper and would be of interest to the older posters in our group, although it is also important to the younger ones long term. So many people say "I can lose weight without exercising" but it's beneficial for so many other things, such as mobility in later years.

Long

Had a busy day yesterday. Had to go get blood draw for 3 month check up and will get results next week. We went to eat at Golden Corral after DH got his blood draw and I came home and was sick. I have always heard that buffets are not the place to eat because people touch the spoons and not everyone is clean. As much as I've always liked eating there, DH says that every time we eat there that one of us gets sick. So we decided to never eat there again. I was sick running to toilet until after 3am this morning.

Good thing that came out of it is that my weight is back down to 221.4. So I decided that I love this light feeling and I'm going to take advantage of being empty and get right back on my low carb plan. My fbs was 107 yesturday and was 104 this morning. So that is really good.

I've actually modified my plan so that I have my eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast, a balanced meal for lunch and then I have raw veggies with sliced FF sandwich meat for dinner and an Atkins shake or yogurt with fruit for snacks. Not low lowcarb but not hi carb either.

Shannon You are actually doing good and being a little off won't derail you if you don't let it. Life happens. We can't control everythng. Even you said yourself that you are doing better than you usually do on vacation. So give yourself a pat on the back for getting back OP today. How is Olivia enjoying the vacation? I'm sure she is loving it.

Carol Sue The fbs being lower is good. I guess we have to learn to take the good and those things we don't like so well. I'm sure the 3 lbs is just water weight, but we sure don't like it. I'm sure it will come back down. I just think we have these things along the way and lot of it is because we have to learn as we go what we can and can't do and dealing with blood sugar is even worse.

I didn't tell y'all that when I went to eat at the Huddle House that my weight jumped up almost 10 lbs. Was that trip to Huddle House worth it? Absolutely NOT and I will never allow myself to splurge like that again. It has taken me 4 days to get my weight back down and I had to get sick to even do that. In fact, I'm beginning to hate eating out more and more. A tough lesson learned.

I have started buying some lowfat products as well as light products. Then I realized that some lowfat foods substitue the fat with that olean (I think that is how you spell it). I don't think I've eve thought about that and will have to watch that. I've always thought I would use lowfat where I could and sub with good fat. I just may have to re-think that.

Well, I got a call from my DD yesterday that a lady was trying to get in touch with me. Something about my previous hubby's grandfather had acreage in TX that he still has mineral rights to. I talked to the lady and learned that she was looking for all his grandkids/descendents. I was telling her what I knew about different ones. I was so hurt to learn that my ex-sister-in-law, I had known her and Bill's brother since my early teens before I knew Bill, had died 2 yrs ago. Evidently she had alzheimers which really shocked me as she loved learning. I think she took every course that Sam Houston University offered. She was a wonderful elementary teacher who truly loved her students. I read the obituary and she had worked up to teaching 5th grade. I had not seen them since the day we buried Bill. My heart has really been sad for Bill's brother because he and she had been married 50 yrs, but they dated a least 6 to 8 yrs before they married.

Then I asked the lady if she had talked to Bill's brother David and I found out that he died this past December. So sad a day for me. I hadn't seen David in years because once he married his second wife, he never came around us any more except to plan his mothers burial. He didn't even call or say anything to me when Bill died. But at one time, we had been really close when he and his 1st wife were together and we were there for him during their divorce. An awful lot has happened since Bill died almost 14 yrs ago. I'm try now to get info to get in touch with Bill's one living brother because I want him to know that I didn't know and that he is in my thoughts and prayers. I remember how hurt I was that I never heard from David and I don't want him to be hurt by not hearing from me.

Well, I guess I am wordy and made up for no posting yesterday.

Have a good day.

silentarctic 05-29-2014 02:46 PM

Carol Sue I can't read the article, but the premise /title sounds pretty much along my experience/lifes philosophy. Exercise for me isn't about weight loss its about improving general fitness and quality of life (and now for me idealy about helping manage blood sugars).

Patty sorry you had all that hard news yesterday! Hope the bloodwork turns out positive for you though.

Shannon sorry you had a rough dinner :(

On me I splurged and bought myself a glucose meter and some test strips. So hopefully I'll find time to play with that tonight so I can start getting a handle on this.

Shannonsnail 05-29-2014 11:12 PM

We are home from vacation. We were supposed to stay til Saturday but left this afternoon bc my husband lost a filling and needs to get to the dentist tomorrow. We had a good time but didn't do all we wanted bc we expected to have more time. Olivia enjoyed the things we did do though. I have been sick all day with, let's just say tummy problems. I'm not sure if I have food poisoning or am having a bad reaction to a new med I started two weeks ago or what. I hope I feel better tomorrow, heading to bed. I am planning to weigh tomorrow and see what happened. I did really well til Wed at dinner but it went downhill for 24 hrs after that, lol. I am ready to go grocery shopping tomorrow!

Wannabehealthy 05-30-2014 06:39 AM

Last night I made grilled fish and asparagus for dinner. It was a nice light meal and we ate around 4PM. I didn't eat anything after that and when I went to bed BS was 110. After I got in bed I was so hungry, so I got up and ate a slice of cheese, thinking that the fat in the cheese would curb my hunger. I slept until 5AM and woke up hungry! I got up and checked my BS and it was 103, so I guess that slice of cheese didn't hurt me. But I had to make some scrambled eggs and eat because I was starving. Now I can't go back to bed. For some reason, I don't get enough sleep on Thursday nights into Friday. I think it's because I know that DH is going to want to go to the casino and I don't want to go every weekend. He wins, but I don't do as well.

Artic, I'm sorry you couldn't read the article, but it was interesting to me because the study was done in the Pittsburgh area, and that's where I'm from. They started a walking study for senior citizens and they interviewed them and said how much better they felt and how they could get around much better now that they are walking regularly. It basically said that's the key to being mobile in your senior years.

Pretty picture, by the way!

Shannon, sorry you had to cut your vacation short and that you got sick. Hope you're feeling better after a good night's sleep.

Trish, sorry to hear that you got sick, too. We have a Golden Corral about 10 miles away in a town we don't like to go to, so we have never been there. We used to have a buffet in our town, but for some reason, it didn't seem up to par, and now it closed. I remember one time we were there and a family came in. The mother took Clorox wipes out of her purse and cleaned the table. Then she put down paper placemats with silverware wrapped in them. I guess you can't be too careful, but I thought she was going a little too far. LOL The only buffet we go to now is at the casino, and it's perfect. We have never had a problem. We do go to a place that has a nice breakfast buffet and at lunch time, a salad bar. We have seen little kids go up to the bar and put something on their plate, then they decided they don't want it and use their hands to put it back. They have a sign saying not to let kids come up alone, but people think their kids are old enough to handle it. Sometimes I want to tell those kids not to put things back. If they don't want it, just don't eat it.

Shannonsnail 05-30-2014 07:56 AM

I didn't even gain a full pound from vacation....that should tell you about my tummy troubles, lol. I feel better this morning but haven't eaten yet. Yesterday eating precipitated the cramping and diarrhea so I'm almost afraid to eat.

love2b150 05-30-2014 11:07 AM

I've got a lot of catch up reading to do.

Shannon drink some broth, it's easy on the stomach. :welcome: back and I said that on another thread that is will help with weight. Not the way you wanted to do it I know but you get something out of the bathroom visits. Hope you're feeling 100% soon

My update after my high 160 fbs readings today was 101. I think 109 was my lowest. My weight is up from May 1st by 3.4lbs it was higher by 8 to almost 10lbs but I have managed to get it together the past two days and lose some of the bloat.

pattygirl63 05-30-2014 11:35 AM

Yesterday's eating was crazy. Not going to track on MFP today. I'm just going to go for low carb eating all day. I am going to try that for a few days and see how I do. I think knowing how many calories I still have each day is derailing me. I am so bad about eating them whether I really hungry or not. I already know that when I eat low carb that my calories automatically go lower. I do have ideas in my head, but will work out details as I go. Also DH got up extremely early yesterday and that means he wants to eat earlier than usual. It is good that he is turning his sleeping around since we are going on our trip, but it sure throws off my eating times. It would be no problem in the long run once I get used to it if he was consistently getting up early.

My weight was back up 2 lbs today but that really was no surprise as my low yesterday was due to diarrhea the night before. FBS back up today which is no surprise with all the carby foods yesterday. Some were healthy carbs, but just too much. Back on track today.

Shannon So sorry vacation had to be shortened. Sure hope that he gets the tooth taken care of and back to normal. Glad Olivia enjoyed the things you got to do. Glad you are feeling better today.

Arctic I like to know what my fbs runs and there are times I like to check it throughout the day. Just to stay on top of things.

Carol Sue Publix has opened a store here and we went to look around to see what they have. They are expensive, but DH and I were so excited with the meat department. You can get meat cut the size you want and they have a wonderful variety of fish. I loved red snapper when I was growing up and they carry it as well as some other choices we haven't been able to get here. It is farther than we usually have to drive to shop but it is going to be worth the drive to get the variety. DH only likes cod and will eat flounder. Now we can have another choice. Even if he won't eat it, I can have it for an evening meal with some greens.

I don't remember if I told y'all that we finally got a grill during Lowe's Memorial day sale. We had been waiting for them to come on sale. We have it sitting on the inclosed back porch as we won't use it until we get back from our trip and I don't want it sitting out in the weather without us here. I have a nice cover for it, but I had a nice cover for my old one and it the kids didn't put it on right and it blew away. I am looking forward to using it for cooking when I came back home. Especially since I plan to do an Atkins/SBD eating when I return home.

Well, I better close this before it becomes a book. Y'all have a great day.

Catching up from the 20th page 12

Trish, sleeping with a pillow under your knees helps with the swelling/bloat? Trish have you tried the oatmeal without the whey protein yet? I would think that the protein powder wouldn't rocket your bs because it's more protein and the carbs are lower. Definitely lower than oatmeal and most yogurt. Ha 4/10 of a pound after pizza is great. I'd love to be able to do that, but the veggies helped I'm sure :) I like the idea of halfing food anyway since restaurant portions are ridiculous. Makes for a treat later :) Hope your Dad is feeling well.

Carol Sue I never thought about eating a small meal with a shake. That's a thought :) Carol Sue Aldi had those chocolate bars here for 50 cents I bought them for the kids and my husband. Luckily I'm not a fan of plain chocolate but with peanut butter, mint or a wafer, yum. Dark chocolate is the chocolate that is good for you has to be some high percentage of cocoa. I think 60 or 70%. and then it's only like one Ghirardelli square :) I'm still reading but I'm glad the palpitations stopped with the decaf coffee. Good catch :) On the fried tilapia. My son is always experimenting. Well he decided to deep fry some tilapia in flour not cornmeal. I get on him about the crumbs/drippings left in the bottom of the deep fryer (hard to clean) too heavy so you can barely tell there is flour on it. I ate a piece and it wasn't greasy at all and you couldn't even tell he had coated it. And no blood sugar spikes. I eaten it several times two pieces for dinner. and the best part, no stinky fish smell for days in the house :) Just a thought :)

And I'm still thinking about them today after eating my solid low carb breakfast.... They are ridiculously powerful. Some have written how they act similarly to drugs and I really do see that. Anyway, with God's grace, I will say no to the "drugs" and get back on track today.

Shannon I am going to add this to my signature --> CARBS, for me, are just gateways to uncontrollable eating regardless of hunger. Oh my goodness this is me. But you said the right thing with God's grace I will say no to the "carb drugs" and stay on track

onto 5/21

kris you know what I've started doing when I have a taste for pizza? I have yet to make the cauliflower crust but my little one decided one day that she wanted melted cheese. So she put shredded cheese on a plate and microwaved it. I said that's just crazy, then I decided let me add some toppings to it. I added pepperoni, green pepper, onion and sausage. So so good, lots of protein and minimal carbs. I have also done it with a couple tblsp of pizza sauce though not the same without the bread/crust to me. Just a thought :)

Posting now because I am famous for deleting a long post so read away ... missed my chatty informative friends

I would have a good on plan day then off then on then off.....it seems like the carb cravings have to sputter out of my system, lol. Oh well....you know what? Even a "bad" day now is probably half the carbs I used to eat on an average day. I really am doing well, in general, even on some of my worst days now....that is progress. I weighed today and the scale is inching up but I'm not in fear of gaining it all back like I used to be. I think mentally I'm making a lot of progress....used to if I had a bad meal or day I just quit, it was too hard. Now I might feel a little bad but I know I'm going to keep trying. It's progress, albeit small :-)

Great insight Shannon, and love your positivity :) Enjoy crafting, I like doing things like that with Rissa also, though she's more creative than me :) Shannon, the Shirataki noodles are pricey since you only get two servings. I've grown to like them. Just had some for dinner the other night. Will finish my last serving tonight for dinner. I underestimated the beef in my serving so I'll need to add a little more protein so I won't want to eat more after dinner :) Where did you pick them up for $1.99. I got them at Lowe's Food and Walmart in Morrisville and they were 2 something. Ok I see you went to Walmart also. Yay on your weigh in and fbs on 5/24 GO YOU :high:

I like the spaghetti squash with or without sauce but it is a lot of trouble :)

Trish, why is it that people feel the need to critic what you/we do? That was the problem I had on MFP and why I made my diary private. Like Carol Sue and we all have said what works for one doesn't work for all and I feel that if we can put a plan together that is healthy made up from different areas/plans and it works and we can stick to it which is key then it is my choice. Glad you have figured out what works. I have decided to do 5:2 more 4:3 but using the OA low carb menu plan (a tip I got from post-er on another thread) I've only been at it two days but it has taken off 3.6 pounds of this bloat since I know it's not true weight :) Love it --> Doing it my way is part of learning to take responsibility for my diet by making this "my own personal" plan. Drinking green tea and water is helping me stay satiated as well. I have no intention of letting anyone determine for how many pts/calories that I have to eat ever again. Thin for Life also mentions the importance of us feeling the power of being in control of our own life and eating habits. Love it --> There was a time when I would have just consider the day "blown" and just go wild the rest of the day, but I don't want to do that any more. So I feel good about the fact that I have changed and I see progress in my attitude. my inspirational friends :)

Carol Sue, I went to Carlie C's and they had a bag of Kale with a seasoning pack in them to make seasoned Kale chips. I had never seen that before. I didn't buy them it was the last bag and on mark down. I neglected to write the name down. I would love to try them :) Carol Sue, I sometimes think that is the key to not craving carbs in abundance just having a bite when you have that taste for it. Though I will admit sometimes that has not worked for me :) I have a big jar of coconut oil also. It will get used just not sure how often :) you're right it was pricey. I'm glad it doesn't taste like coconut I don't like the flavor or smell of coconut :)

kris how much coconut oil do you add to your smoothie? Is there a benefit to having it early in the day? or do you know the benefits over all? I bought it either for a recipe or on a recommendation from someone and now I have no idea why :dizzy: but I will use it :) When I was first diagnose my doctor told me that if I walked for at least 20 minutes after dinner it would help with my fbs :) I don't think I have ever done it but I would probably have better readings if I did :) I am noticing better readings when I don't eat anything after 6:30-7pm.

hi Ruth, good to see you though i'm several days late. You have been busy ... enjoy :)

Ok next page :) I will keep you all reading today for sure ;)

pattygirl63 05-30-2014 05:04 PM

Rennie The pillow under the legs doesn't help the bloat but it does help with the swelling.

Shannonsnail 05-30-2014 07:03 PM

Still not well over here and on top of the tummy issues my TOM arrived.....shoot me now! Lol! I'm reading just not much energy for posting....plus nothing to say, you really don't want any additional details, lol!

pattygirl63 05-30-2014 08:59 PM

Shannon Sorry you are still feeling poorly. Surely hope you get to feeling better soon.

I've had a good eating day. Actually believe I did better without counting anything. I'll just have to see how it goes in the long haul.

kris2008 05-30-2014 09:16 PM

I really don't know specific benefits for coconut oil. I'm just getting more oil into my diet. Tablespoon of coconut oil and flaxseeds in my morning smoothee. A couple Brazil nuts or peanuts or pecans between smoothee and lunch. Lots of olive oil and boiled eggs in my huge dinner salad. Oil seems to help my blood sugar levels and keeps me not hungry between meals. Hoping it will help my old alligator skin and they say it is good for memory. I know it makes my dogs' coats look all nice and glossy!

kris2008 05-30-2014 09:31 PM

Rennie - good idea regarding pizza. I'll have to try that. Course I'm hoping after I've lost another 18 pounds I can have pizza in moderation without raising sugar so high! I just hope I didn't wait too long to try to reverse this sugar problem. I tell everybody now not to mess around with borderline diabetes. I've had it for 10 years and not done anything about it until the levels put me right over the ledge into the land of real diabetes. I didn't realize that borderline is already not good for your body. I am fortunate that I'm not taking medication and dedicated low carb eating and exercise are keeping FBS usually below 115, occasionally below 110. Work in progress!

Thanks Trish, LOL I am never gonna get caught up here so I pray everyone is as well as can be and Shannon, I do hope your tummy feels better soon. Have you tried Pepto or Imodium <-- spelling. I've had to use them before and they did help though the chalky taste makes you want to gag.

kris I was borderline for years also and then the weight came on and my A1c was 10.5 and the metformin started. I do think that with next 30lbs I should be able to come off of it. That is my hope. I'm happy for you that you don't have to take any meds. Keep up the great work :)

My weight is back down to 194 again. It's like someone put up a force field and my scale just won't go any lower. Last night at the casino I ate a hamburger without the bun, just with some lettuce and tomato. Boy did I want that big fluffy bun, but I resisted. I did eat some potato chips though, then when we got home I had a chicken leg. When I went to bed my BS was 124, probably due to the potato chips, and when I got up it was 123...so pretty steady through the night. This was without the glimiperide, so I'm satisfied with that. I get my next A1c on July 1.

It's is a good thing that I don't like sweets. We stopped at the grocery store on the way home last night and they were having a 2-day sale. DH bought 2 peach pies at $2.99 each, and a dozen raisin cookies at $2.99. It's getting anymore that he won't eat anything that doesn't have tons of sugar. I worry about him, but I'm getting tired of worrying about someone who doesn't look out for himself.

Rennie, it's so good to see you back! We've missed you! I know you are getting tired of this up and down, and I am, too. It comes back on so much faster than it goes off.

I am trying to find out the benefits of Coconut Oil, too. Even Kim on the Atkins Board suggests putting it in your coffee. She says it makes it bullet proof, but I don't know what that means, and to me, that just sounds gross. It looks like lard, and I can't imagine I would like having it in my coffee, but they always say, "Don't knock it til you try it!"

For a while there, I was walking for 15 minutes after dinner and it really helped with my FBG. I don't know why I stopped doing it. Just lazy I guess. I know it's a really good habit to get into.

Shannon, sorry you are still not feeling well, but I hope you get the benefits on the scale, at least. There is a silver lining. :D I used to take Immodium tablets and they really help, but be careful, because they can really make you go the other way. I'm not sure which is worse.

Kris, you are smart to catch the prediabetes before it gets out of hand, but I think you wil probably aways have to watch what you eat. It seems once your body goes wonky, it doesn't go back 100%. But you are learning to watch your carbs, so you probably won't have any problem. I do want my A1c back below 7 and I think I am probably at that point, but I really don't mind taking the Metformin. It's cheap, and has no side effects for me as far as I know.

Trish, I rarely track anything anymore. The only time I do it is when I am wondering about a certain food, then I will go into Fitday and enter it in to see what the nutritional info is. I do this especially with recipes....I enter all the ingredients then divide to see how it comes out per portion. Maybe I would do better if I track, but half the time I forget what all I ate. I don't write it down as I go. I have sometimes noticed that if I enter a food on Fitday, the information it gives me is not the same as the nutritional info on the package. I had to make a custom entry for my Smart Balance spread because nothing on Fitday was equal to what it says on the package. I think my Fitday program is outdated and doesn't include newer products.

If you don't feel hungry, don't worry about how low your calories are unless your weightloss is stalled. Sometimes you can miscalculate and you might actually be eating more calories than MFP says. I never try to eat more. I don't care how low my calories go, but they don't go low too many times. I have no problem getting in all my calories! LOL I have a problem keeping them low!!

Bulletproof coffee.... I am on a low carb eating group on FB (I resisted being in a group on this new family only acct for a long time but was desperate for new recipes). Alot of folks on there drink them....for the oils they say start with a tsp and work up to a tbsp. supposed to be quality coffee, grassfed butter and medium chain trigylceride oil (which coconut oil mostly is) plus sweetener if desired and heavy whipping cream if desired, blend til frothy. They say it is not oily when blended well and benefit is its good quality fats that keep you full longer. I haven't tried it yet. They sell grassfed butter (Kerrygold brand) at Costco and Trader Joes here (maybe Whole Foods, I haven't checked), need to get that first.

Thanks Carol Sue :) I miss you all too ... and I try to read this thread especially because you all really help me with this illness. It's just the post are so long sometimes it's hard to keep up, but do keep posting them (I still have to read page 14 :)) another lazy thing with me reading :) With regards to worrying about your husband, you'll never stop worrying and someone has to :) I told you my husband is the same way, chips, cookies, bread, ice cream, for him anything quick. He doesn't cook, and won't look in the fridge to heat up left overs but will eat them if I heat it up and bring it to him. I told him that I think he's borderline diabetic but he won't listen but he'll find out when he goes to the doctor. Whenever that will be. I think putting in my coffee would be gross also because it would be grease floating which would make me gag every time I looked in the cup so it would be wasted. But I could put it in a smoothie for sure like Kris does. I don't know why I never walked after my meals either other than just lazy. When I was told to do it, I had gestational diabetes and I get so heavy while pregnant I don't want to do anything especially with swollen ankles. Oh well we live and we prayerfully learn :)

Shannon let me know when you try it. I just comment about seeing the grease floating so that may help, but heavy whipping cream sounds like something not so good for us. Let me know please. How are you feeling today? Scale number like Carol Sue and I said should be great

Well thank goodness for treadmills and 8 full hours of sleep. :carrot: for me!!! Y'all know I started May 1 @ 159.8. I had a really rough time staying OP this month but thanks to a few tips from some really good friends here and on MFP I got it together these last few days. It was really water weight with all of the ups and downs. I am ending today May 31 at 160.6 only a .8 gain for the month and my fbs this morning was 98. I have not seen it that low EVER. (actually I did when I was on insulin while pregnant with the last two children) but not after being diagnosed with type II in 2011. What a blessing. I am very very happy.
