Hi Casandra, Meowee :)
I have also heard that women in the 1800's would purposely consume tape worms so they could eat what they like and stay slim. Then when the tape worm got big in their tummies, they would starve it and lure it out their mouth with food :o Now that seems like alotta work to me :D Okay, I lost it today, I am been eating constantly and not good eating either. I need to get back to work tomorrow, back to routine - I'm out of control today - maybe I'm getting my period or something but it's been really really bad, the worst breakdown in a long time. :( |
OMG . . . You know, I heard not too many years ago that people were importing diet pills from some strange place that actually contained tapeworm larvae . . . the very thought makes my hair stand on end . . . think I'd almost rather suck on an arsenic wafer - breathless indeed.

Yes sorbitol, wow... I get the runs like there's no tomorrow.
|
Makes me . . . crampy and 'noisy' . . . but nothing more extreme.
Anyway . . . :grouphug: Good Morning . . . another beautiful day . . . BGL is 5.6 (101) again. Just discovered a wonderful new website (thanks to Rosey) aimed primarily at we "older types" but definitely some information from which we can all benefit. Have a look if you get a chance . . . http://agingwell.state.ny.us/fitness/index.htm I've got things to do and places to go . . . See you all later . . . |
*Cringing at the tape worm discussion* Very interesting! I would be extremely scared to have something like that after all the tapeworm-related horror stories I've seen on TV. I also wonder how a tapeworm would affect my blood sugar. :p
Sorbitol... is CRAP CITY! As I mentioned before, I just don't bother with sugar free desserts. I'd rather have the real stuff. But oh, I guess Sorbitol will help you lose weight, now won't it?! It's like buying a colonic cleansing for a lot less money  I got my time of month today, but I lost another pound anyway this morning (BEFORE the bleeding started! haha). I feel awfully bloated and know I'm retaining, so maybe once I'm off this, I'll see a nice, magical number like 145... I'll settle for 147 or 148, though! My weight loss is definitely slowing down, but I know that happens once you don't have as much to lose. On a note not related to dieting or diabetes, I found something interesting online. Meowee's link to something for older folks made me think of it: http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/ - the mosquito ring tone. Apparently, people over 24 are not supposed to be able to hear it. The original ringtone is in 17khz. They have a whole chart of what ringtones different age groups are supposed to hear, and according to this test, my hearing is 30! I HAVE GEEZER EARS! This does not surprise me, though, as I HAVE attended countless rock concerts and also had a touring band - when you are on stage, your amp is turned extremely high and your mic even higher so you can actually hear yourself. On top of that, I declared myself too hardcore to wear ear plugs, so I'm pretty sure my hearing is damaged  I actually think that if I have a band that performs on stage again, I just might wear the plugs! ;) |

Shane, you geezer eared hot chick, you! Hope you see that 145 this week!
Hi everyone, just came home from seeing my sister's mansion (I mean, new house) it's 6000 square feet, 5 bedrooms - each with their own ensuite bathroom with tub and separate shower. It was something else. Theater room with projection TV, games room, huge great room family/kitchen combo, butlers pantry with dishwasher, there is this outdoor porch area that has a fireplace to keep you warm on cool evenings. Big pool in the backyard, it was really incredible, I don't know how she is going to clean it, she must be getting a housekeeper in - but I didn't ask. Anyway, there was all kinds of food at the party... and guess what? I had.... are you ready? . . . . a big . . . . cup . . . . of tea with Equal................ It was tough, there were so many appetizers and cakes, tarts etc.. but I did it! Have a good night all, I'm off to dream about tape worms. |
Hi . . .
Clock says it's morning . . . :coffee: is badly needed. Actually more sleep is badly needed, but the :coffee: will have to do, for now. Fantastic THIN . . . :high: You have definitely got your act together girl and I'm jealous -- I know I would have eaten everything in sight. BTW, I dreamed about Billy Ray Cyrus last night  and I'm not even a fan of his. Definitely better than tapeworms though. Hope the day is good for everybody . . . see you later . . . :grouphug: |
Don't tell my heart, my achey - breakie heart!

So, at Subway, there was this guy ahead of me who was wearing something on his hip. I'm very observant, and noticed it was an insulin pump, as opposed to a cell phone or pager. I went to Subway with one of my co-workers and wondered if I should say something about it since the guy was already talking to me a little bit, but decided not to, until my way out, when I said, "By the way *points at pump* diabetics unite!" and gave him the rock on sign. My co-worker just laughed and said, "Wow, I had no idea you were diabetic." I guess you learn something new every day, huh... :D
Thin - CONGRADULATIONS!! All that food in front of you and that's ALL you had? GOOD JOB! You must feel so proud... you SHOULD feel so proud. What self control! :) and LMAO@ geezer eared hot chick... well... at least there is hot in there! *huge grin* Rosey - good job on losing all but 3 of the gained pounds, I know you'll lose those 3 too and then 3 more and 3 more and... you know where this is heading... ;) Jeanne - maybe you just need to eat more carbs? Or reduce whatever medication you are on by a bit? Meowee - I love your icon... SO cute!! |
Hi there . . . I'm back . . . had a nap and it definitely improved things . . . now if the weather would just be a little more cooperative -- it's overcast and the temperature has only managed to hit a high of 16C / 61F. Fall is definitely in the air.
And that made me think of this little FFFF -- Americans eat more on SuperBowl Sunday than on any other day of the year except Thankgsgiving -- Christmas comes in at a distant third. Here's a good article from D:Life about the part diet may play in the development of Diabetic Retinopathy . . . http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowCo...ugust2007.html Hi there SHANE . . . I love Subway, as long as you take it easy with the bread, they've got some pretty healthy stuff. Hi there JEANNE . . . Basically, I agree with Shane that perhaps you need to be sure you are balancing your point choices. Actually, I've been counting calories, fat, carbs, protein, and fibre grams for the past 6 or 7 months and just decided this morning that I'm going back to tracking the CDA Choices instead. Why -- same reason I discovered Weight Watchers Points don't work for me either -- I tend to eat too much of the wrong stuff even though my calories/points are on plan. Guess I just need a little more rigid control. See you all later . . . :carrot: Try to keep things moving and shaking. |
