Default I think this is where I should be.....

Hello All, I have read through some of your threads and you all seem like a nice bunch of people that could be a great support system. Things are not looking that great right now. My DH got depressed with his job 4 years ago and quit. He is going to school right now to become an engineer, but won't be out for another 3 years. We live with his mom right now, with our 2 beautiful boys. I am a full-time student right now too. I know that we could both be working, but for what?? With gas prices the way they are we wouldn't be able to afford to go. We get some good scholarships and grants that help, but it is a real downer to be living with your mil. I am going to the doctor next week to see what I can do. I have been counting calories, and exercising without any results for the last 4-6 weeks. I know that I am depressed, and I burst into tears over the littlest of things.

Sorry this is so long, but I thought y'all might be a good ear to talk to and a good shoulder to cry on. I hope I can be there for y'all some day.

Hi Misty and

I'm glad your here

I think the best thing you could do is go to school, get a great education and then the job you've alway dreamed of....or at least a good paying one

I made that mistake years ago by not going to school and following my dreams. In the corporate world they really do treat you better depending on the level of your education (which stinks, people should be treated the same nonetheless) anyway...hang in there.

Much more, I'm glad your going to your doctor. I know its a hard thing to do but once you get there, you'll be happy you did. It will feel like the world has been lifted off your shoulders. Also remember, if this doctor doesn't help you, you can see another....they are a dime a dozen and one size does not fit all. Same goes with medication.

Hugs and kisses to you and good luck.

hi
life always throws a curve to test our strengths. Stay in school and do what you have to, to get done, it will be so worth it.

Default I did it!!! I made it to the doctor!!!

I made it to the doctor and spoke with him about my depression. He put me on wellbutrin, and then decided to go ahead and do my annual physical (about 2 months early). He found that my IUD had fallen out and then there was a chance that I could be pregnant. We did the appropriate blood tests and thankfully, I am not pregnant. I would not be able to handle that right now. So, I have been on the wellbutrin since wednesday and I already have a great amount of energy that has kept me moving. Since wednesday I have lost 4lbs. I don't know if it is because I am finally moving more, or that it could have been water weight. Anyway, I am starting to feel a bit better, but not totally healed. I am still waiting on the blood work to see if my thyroid is working properly. Thank you all for listening. You all are great.....if there is anything I can do to help you with please let me know.

Default Been there...

Hi! After my second child was born, I got very depressed throughout her first year. I made the mistake of waiting til my yearly checkup when she was 1 year old to tell a doctor about it. I got put on Wellbutrin also, and also saw a shrink for about a year. It helped SO much. Also, Wellbutrin does show to help some people lose weight, and I needed it. When I am that overweight, I felt SO bad about myself, and was always either crying or chewing somebody's head off. Also, it might have been partly post-partum, not sure if that can last that long. Anyway, because of it I feel I didn't get to enjoy my baby girl that first year as much as I could have. Now 1 1/2 years ago I had my third child, and found myself feeling again very depressed, stressed, overwhelmed, but this time I told the dr. at my first checkup and he was SO understanding, wrote the script out without a second thought, and said I deserve to enjoy that baby as much as possible, and he was RIGHT!! I don't feel I've lost weight as fast as I did the first time on it, but am not seeing a shrink this time either, and back then he had done some hypnosis stuff on me that might have helped. But I am losing slowly (15 pounds now since Jan., about 30 since baby was born) and our home life is so much better without all the yelling and crying. I hope the meds help you, there is no shame in being on it (many more people are on anti-depressants than you think!) I am thinking about going off of them soon, see if I can handle things myself now, not sure. Best of luck!!

Gina, thank you for your words of encouragement. I am so glad that you are feeling so much better. Well, now for an update......I have been on Wellbutrin for a little over a week, and feeling great. I had my gall bladder removed on the 8th and am still recovering, but just weighed in and I am now down to 246. I need to change my ticker....but I am so on my way to feeling 100% again!!

Default Wellbuterin?

Hi there. I was wondering if Wellbuterin has any side effects, like loss of sex drive, etc.? I think I really need something, but have been too afraid that it will mess me up. I am always irratable(however you spell that word ) , short tempered, down, and than up. My moods change so quickly. I'm at a loss of what to do. I would like to know how differant people reacted to wellbuterin or anything else. thanks.

Hey everyone.

There is a nice positive energy on this thread! I am glad to hear things are coming around for you Misty. Did you have a laproscopic chole? They work great. I had mine a few years ago and I was back to work in 10 days. I had felt so crappy for so long that once they took it out I felt so much better and that helped my recovery.

I have a doctors appointment the end of the month. I have to start prepping for it now. Otherwise I forget all the things I want to talk about.

Bye for now everyone

Hi ya'll,

Glad to hear everyone is doing better. I'm catching up after being away from the boards a couple of days.

Wellbutrin is supposed to be one of the anti-depressants that is least likely to cause sexual side effects. All meds have some side effects, sometimes we just have to keep trying until we get the right one.

Good luck!

Liz, I did have the laprascopic chole!! It went so very well. I was down for about a week and then I've been taking it easy the rest of the time. I still can't pick up my babies, but they're coping and so am I. I go to the doctor for my last check up and then I should be cleared!!

Lady_Effinger, the Wellbutrin has had a few side effects with me.....like I have tons of energy, I can't seem to stop sometimes. Also, mixed with my multi-vitamin I get very sick to my stomach. And as for the sex drive, well, my husband is no longer complaining!! I have had an INCREASED sex drive!! It has been so very wonderful.

So, I'm coping with my meds....I'm starting a walking regimin with my mil and it seems to be going well. My DH has been watching the boys early in the morning and then in the evening after dinner while we take a walk, usually between 15 and 30 min. I am not walking as fast as I could because I don't want to pull anything so close to my surgery and I don't want to leave my mil in the dust. She has about 100lbs to lose too. My house and life are all coming together again and I am losing weight in the process. Right now it's slow, but I know that it will speed up the moment I'm able to start exercising again!!

Thank You all for all your support!! I look forward to meeting you on other threads and seeing how things turn out for you.

Just wanted to update everyone. I am feeling great. Back to all my normal activities. I have not lost any more weight but I am not gaining either. I so figure while I'm not losing at least I'm not adding on. I did however make some bad decisions today. Like this morning when Kyle, my son who is almost 5, asked me to make chocolate donuts and I did. I ate like 3 or 4 of them too. I'm gonna have to do some extra work today to get rid of those empty calories!!

Anyway, y'all have a great day.
