Red face New here

Hi to all.

I'm new to this forum, and to weight loss, and not altogther sure if I'm ready. In a nutshell, I became severely depressed and developed anxiety 2.5 years ago, due to workplace bullying and severe overwork. Many of my symptoms are PTSD.

For around 6 months, I rarely got out of bed, and went out of the house once every 2-3 months. Then it was an effort. I started to take anti depressants in Feb 04, and I've been taking them since (although I had to change my medication, due to side effects). During this time, I've also seen a CPN plus psychologist on a weekly basis, but now at longer intervals.

A lot of my energy was taken up re suing my former employer, which took a couple of years and a lot of anxiety has been related to this. This has now settled, and I'm in the process of trying to move on with my life. I've gradually been able to up the number of times I go out of the house to once a week, and still attempting to increase this.

One of the effects of the past 2.5 years is the knock on effect of my mental health to my physical one, something I now need to think about working on. However, unravelling this one I appreciate is going to be a nightmare. Rather obviously, otherwise I wouldn't exactly be here, I've gained far too much weight. Exactly how much I currently weigh, I've no idea, although we are talking enormous numbers here.

Not being mobile for 2.5 years has its implications. I'm still battling with the anxiety, and being outside, the confidence aspect, self image and the rest. However, I'm also terribly unfit. My knees hurt, by back gives in and I feel incredibly dizzy when I try to be mobile. So its not just a case of going to the gym and getting on with it, I've got a few issues to unravel and it feels overwhelming to a degree. I did have physiotherapy earlier this year, but I need a specialist referral and still waiting for a consultant appointment.

I would like to hear from people who have come out of long term depression, and how they managed this or tackling it. Weight, physical health, and still battling with the mental health issues.
