Unhappy Lack of motivation

I don't know what it is but nothing seems to be motivating me to lose weight. I don't know if it is my depression taking over or what. It's getting very frustrating though. All I want to do is eat even though I am stuffed. I'm sitting here reading all these great posts as I stuff my face. I tell myself I shouldn't eat it but I do anyways......I have HUGE self control issues. I am under a lot of stress right now and I always seem to turn to food when I'm stressed. I don't know what to do. I'm afraid I'm going to just keep eating and eating and gain even more weight that I'll have to lose. Another thing that is worrying me is, my arm feel like it's being squeezed (like when you have your bp taken) constantly. My mom says my bp is probably high. I went and took at a pharamacy and it wasn't that high, so I don't know what to think. I would hate to have a heart attack or stroke at 24 especially if it could be prevented. I have my family to think about.....you would think that would be enough motivation right there. What's wrong with me? Please help!!!

Oh honey, I'm sorry you are having such a rough day!!!
But eating more isn't going to further any of your goals....just put it down I know it's hard - but maybe if you try thinking about doing something for someone else?

There is so much more to the world than food - go out and enjoy yourself doing something that doesn't involve food. Have some fun with that sailor of yours. Hopefully he isn't deployed somewhere?

As for the squeezed arm thing...go see a doctor - and soon...you need to take care of yourself.

Sending love and good vibes - sorry I can't say anything more profound.

Honey, I know exactly where you're coming from. I am trying my hardest to get back to losing weight. I have done nothing but eat, and eat for the last 2 months, and have gained. I wanted to give you a big (((hug))), and tell you you're not alone.

Hugs to you! You're definitely not alone! Depression saps our energy; it's difficult to get out of bed in the morning, let alone change our eating habits. Plus, with depression, sometimes we turn to carbs to improve our energy and our moods. Find something else that will lift your mood, like a half-hour walk when the sun is shining, or playing with a pet. Yes, I sympathize that those kinds of changes are hard to do when one suffers from depression. Maybe you could do those things just half the time when you feel like eating. Don't try to be perfect, try to be a little better.

You can do it!

I've lost motivation more times than I've been to the bathroom (watta analogy?) it happens and we all will self-sabotage...

But you are reading and posting here, so you do want to change yourself, you've got the will and you will find the strength to do what you want so badly.

Don't look at the big picture right now if it's overwhelming, but every day do something you can call a personal accomplishment, even if it's just drinking an extra bottle of water and walking up one flight of stairs......maybe you want to keep a journal of what you are doing and add to it every day.

5 mins of exercise every day is 35 mins. a week. 6 mins. of exercise every day is 42 mins. etc, etc, before you know it, you are making big progress and most importantly you are FEELING BETTER PHYSICALLY.

and HTN can be controlled and lowered with exercise and cleaner eating, I am living proof, 2 years ago my diastolic # was 102, today it's in the 70s and my doctor has cut my meds by 1/2. Before you snack, look at the package, the sodium content is enough to scare you into not eating it.

good luck and come back to talk to us whenever you like.

Thanks everyone for the great replies. They all have really helped me feel better. It's nice to know you're not alone. I am feeling better today and I have more motivation. I plan on going for a walk later on today when the kids wake up. Thanks again.
