  • Good Morning
    Leenie, You NAUGHTY girl

    I think I need to take a nap..the coffee isn't working

Liz, April, Lynnie, Ashlie: Haven't seen you in a while...please stop in and say hi

CIN: Take good care of yourself!

Cathy: Hope you're all recovered from that stomach bug

Nothing much going on around here. I'm still walking on my foot..hoping I can keep putting off the surgery I need to get back in touch with my doctor. The only potential problem is that my bone may be reinfected. I don't have any symptoms, but the doctor said there was an inflammation there

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend..and have a great day!
  • Ugh, I hate to be working today....if only I were independently wealthy!....Tippy and Cathy....I am also a V-8 juice addict BIG time! I buy the low-sodium variety and add a lot of lemon and hot-sauce to it, sometimes a dash of worchester sauce too. it makes a great snack if you stick a big crunchy stalk of celery in it.

  • good morning gang!

Leenie - you deserve a day off! enjoy it!
you asked what I have planned today - work

Joanne - so good to see ya girlie! You need to take care of yourself and your foot. Please promise us you will go see about it. I am fine but oldest son was sick as a dog yesterday. Had to work the 2 to 10 pm shift and when he got home he was burning up with fever too. Poor guy! I figure everybody down there should be sick in a couple of days too. good grief - sometimes male bosses just don't think. I know he was in a bind on the holiday and everybody had to work, but I wouldn't make anyone work that was throwing up, with diarrhea & fever. Cody said he had to stay seated on a stool to check people out bec when he stood he thought he was gonna pass out. I talked to him this morning and he is better - just feeling groggy.

Marble - did you get a day off yesterday? I'm gonna pick up some of that spicy V8 that Tippy mentioned when I head to walmart after work today.

Anybody seen Liz? it's been a long time since we've heard from her? sure hope she is ok!!!!!

Cin - you taking it easy girlie? hey? do you have staples where they cut you open? and are still there? yikes

hope everybody has a great day

    hugs,
    cathy
  • Hi everyone

The weather has been terrible here the last few weeks....rain...more rain....cloudy & overcast....it has affected my mood the last few weeks. Last Wednesday I took out my light box....have been using it every day....late yesterday afternoon I started to feel better.

I have lost 21.8 lbs. now!!!!....have reached 10%....so I got a gold star at WW online.....my DH is now eating all the food I make.....even the Core recipes I am making.....after his stroke the doctor said he had to lose weight....he is doing pretty good these days.

  • HOORAY APRIL! WOOOOO HOOOOO!
WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU GIRLIE!

  • Some days you just can't win! Especially if you create your own obstacles...

I woke up today with a splitting headache, and it took me a few hours to realize I had consumed less caffeine yesterday. So I think it's time to drop the caffeine consumption to a level below "addiction". And I know all those diet sodas are no good for me either, so I'm trying to cut back on them. I'll be keeping a lot of bottled water in the fridge! I've quit both before, but they crept back into my life. The soda is the hardest for me.

Of course with the headache, I've been putting off exercising. (I do know from experience that it will take about 3 days for the caffeine withdrawal to stop provoking headaches.) Today was going to be a nice bike ride - first this year - but while I procrastinated the weather changed and now it's raining heavily. Amazing how easy it is to set myself up for failure!

On the plus side, I checked out Fitday and immediately ordered it. I wonder what level of activity sitting with my feet up playing with the laptop is? It seems like a wonderful tool, and fun to boot.

Also on the plus side, if I can't go out for a ride, I will go for a longish walk and maybe do some weights for a change.
  • sounds like a good plan carla! maybe start mixing with decaf. The weather down here is sticky and moldy. rain looks like it's coming, my hair looks like I have Don King's stylist.

Joanne: sorry I missed you in my last posting, hope your foot-bones will improve.

I'm beat......it's been a very long day! see everyone tomorrow...

Where is TDKathy? we haven't heard from her in a bout 2-3 weeks?
  • The rain stopped, I went for a good 30 min ride in the mugginess which is still there. I had forgotten how free I feel on a bike. (I had also forgotten just how sore my poor tush gets at the beginning of the biking season. Gotta break that sucker in!)

Marble, I hope work is going well and all your students are brilliant, nice, and articulate.
  • Hi all, I can definitely relate to caffeine addiction and diet soda. I love diet soda. If there was a way to get caffeine free without the headache, Carla, I'd join you on the change. I just hate spending 3 days of beautiful summer wiht a headache. Maybe I could try reducing it for a few weeks. Are you going to survive the cold turkey headache?

Cathy, bosses usually don't get it when an employee gets sick. So if your DS infected them all, I hope he got the boss too.

Marble, what do you teach? I probably missed that somewhere along the line. FYI, the Xenical isn't too bad. Your dr. gave you Meridia as well? What do you think of it. ARe the two really working for you?

Leenie, hookie is the best thing to play. I hope you enjoyed your day.

April, I'm glad to hear that DH is doing good. It makes it so much easier when DH joins in on the eating plan. I'm all for that until DH loses more than me and he doesn't put half the effort into it that I do. Then I get green eyed and tend to fall off the wagon. But, I do like that I don't have to make two meals. April, I also use a lightbox and stopped using it way too early. You made a wise choice to pull it back out. I'm glad you're feeling better.

Joanne, I hope your foot gets better.

I went for a hike this morning with DH and the dogs. It was great. I love the wilderness. I truly live in paradise (of course I now say that after the weather has finally improved). I've been good with exercising and bad with food. I really need to focus on helathy foods again. I've been pretty close in my calorie range but making bad choices instead of healthy ones.

    Talk to you all later.

  • Marie - I don't think i'll go totally cold turkey with the caffeine. I've decided to allow myself one real coffee and one diet cola per day for now, and then reduce more from there. As for the headaches, they are pretty annoying, but fortunately I have a little stash of Tylenol2 my ex-mother-in-law passed on to me, and they take the edge off. Of course I could put this off until the fall, but... I'm just mad at myself because I already did the caffeine withdrawal thing a few months ago, and just got careless with the pepsi habit.

I notice you live in the west also....I don't know about where you live....but here the weather has been overcast, raining & cloudy for a few weeks at least....it sure does't feel like summer.

With SAD....it can affect your mood. I went to a seminar last winter about SAD....they said antidepressants only help about 50% of people.

I stopped using my lightbox in April....but the counselor I see....she said to pull it out when you get weather like we are getting now.

  • Hi all,

It's good to see everyone survived the 4th relatively unscathed. I did, too. I slipped up a little last night: my fiance and I had a pretty big tiff and so I did some emotional eating to soothe away the hurt...of course, that only made it worse but who am I to give myself advice, right? Some of that emotional eating was also because I've been eating relatively good for the past week or so and the scale hasn't even moved a pound. That's discouraging and made me want to eat. Today, I went out to eat with a friend and ate my trigger food, PIZZA. I ate more than I should have but not as much as I normally would, so I guess I'm happy with that. But tomorrow, I will do better!

    Carla...
I ordered the FitDay software, too and I have been using it for over a year off and on. I love it! I find it a very valuable tool and it is pretty user friendly. And there are so many reports you can run on your eating patterns, etc. I hope you like it.

    Well, happy Tuesday everyone,
  • Hello Ladies...

Just dropping in to say hi.. Dropping off the baby to her daddy, checking email and then running home.. I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th.

    How is everyone doing?

  • A late reply to Cathy's question:

All 25 staples were removed last Thursday.........my belly has steri strips where the staples were! Sorta like a long zipper!

    Good Night
    I am tired but well.
