Monday Chat - June 20th

  • Good Morning Ladies

    Hope your weekend was fantastic

Yesterday was a nice day, we went to my FIL's for 1/2 of the day but before we left the house we fumigated it. So when we got back man oh man the cleaning we had to do. I have a pile of sheets and blankets that are at least 5' high that I have to wash (b/c I cover the furniture). Any takers?

Well here we are, another Monday.

Watcha got planned for the week?
  • good morning leenie & our gang!

there is hardly any humidity here in Louisiana this morning! It is wonderful!!!! the heat index was 105 on Saturday. It will be in the upper 90's again today, but if the humidity stays like this - it might not feel so much like a sauna

I have got to get ready for a general liability audit so gotta run!

    Hope all is well

    hugs,
    cathy
  • Hi, I'm here, I'll be back later.....

Leenie: Do you think this is a coincidence? My townhouse complex has professional lawn maintenance... pesticides were applied last week...Me, my neighbor and her boyfriend did some heavy-duty gardening this past weekend (together we moved a tree, dug holes, etc).. and sepately just flowerbed work.....We all got ill with similar symptoms, lasting about 12 hours.....nausea, generally crappy felling and lethargic....

I think the lawn chemicals played part in this (or I'm getting neurotic)!
  • Hi Girls
    This is a quickie b/c I'm a busy broad.
I just survived a meeting featuring Donuts UNSCATHED OOOOH YEAH
I did have coffee with half and half but no donutty badness.
I read Bob Greenes Guide to good eating
and I'm working on Overcoming my food temptations.

Marble That sounds like chemicals to me they should let you know how long to stay away from the lawn/gardening to protect yourself hope you are feeling better!
Good Morning Cathy! I don't mind heat but humidity Kills me! so heres hoping it stays down!
Leenie if you want to do someof my laundry too I'd much appreciate it.
    I have to run bbiab!

  • Hi all, Things are going good here. I got my printer up and running on the home network this weekend so that was a good accomplishment. DH and I went to dinner with DS last night and that was fun.

The weather is gorgeous here today. Mid 70's and no clouds. We're going to turn on the solar heater and try reheating my pool again.

The dogs are okay. Kodiak still stinks from running away on Friday (2 baths helped but didn't get rid of the dead animal smell). Goldilocks came home from the hospital (again) yesterday and is doing better. She had an allergic reaction to the cast and her leg is infected now as well as the broken bones. Her skin likes the splint much more and the antibiotics are working. Blizzard is doing great.

I'm back at work today, so I better get to it.
    TTYL.

  • Well ladies… I think I’ve fallen into a slump. I haven’t been getting my exercise in. After that full weekend of yard work, I’ve been sorta suffering from the “Blahs” My eating could be better, but I have not been over eating. I just gotta get my exercise up. I weighed myself again… lets just say I’m moving in the wrong direction. Oy… You know I always thought that not having a lot of time and keeping busy would keep me from snacking. It does, that works well… but it doesn’t help the exercise situation. Hoping this summer will give me time to gather myself and figure out where I am again. I guess I’ve hit a down spark. I was doing good for a while. I can do it again, I just gotta get myself out of the slump. School has really burned me out and it’s sorta affecting everything. You should see my bedroom. I have books and papers and materials all over the floor.

It was a good weekend… for everything to go berserk Lets start with Saturday. Saturday James and I witnessed a hit and run and we followed the guy and got his license plate number. Then when we head about the accident scene, the lady was leaving and we had to chase her down also heheh. We gave her the info we got, including the time and place we found the car that hit her and as well as our phone number. Then we were supposed to go pick up some tools and get an idea as for how much it would cost to build a deck around our pool (James is going to build it himself). But we ended up locking our keys in the truck. YES! WOOHOO way to go So we went home after that did some house cleaning and took a dip in the pool.

Now, Fathers day, it all started at 9:00 a.m. Our neighbor lays cement and we asked him to come by and give us an estimate for a cement driveway and brick wall. Was not expecting him at the time so we were about to jump in shower and had to scramble to get decent and so we are waiting for his friend to call us to schedule an appt for our brick wall. Then after he left about 9:30 the door bell rings and it’s the neighbors kids looking for Brittny but she’s at her moms. After that our phone and doorbell were going off like it was grand central station. I was like, holy cow! We’re not home go away hehehe. Then we spent the rest of the day looking at loft beds for Brittny. We’re trying to make more room in her bedroom. So we looked at a loft bed where the bed was lifted and underneath there are drawers and desks and storage. When we got home, my nieces came over to swim with Brit since we got her early for Fathers Day. When we were about to get into the pool… my dad calls and says hey can you come save me my car died. My parents were looking at new homes and his battery died. So we went to go jump his car battery, but ended up having to take it out and buying a new one. When we got done, I gave him a hug and told him Happy Fathers Day!

    Interesting day!

Hope everyone is doing well. I’m gonna go clean house!

    Take care everyone…

    Sue…
  • As I type, a new lawn is being put in FINALLY. We had so much rain that it had to be postponed a few times.

Ladies...you should see these two men. Wowsers! They are very fit and trim, very tanned, dark curly hair and brown eyes! (Be still my heart!) They are also neighbors cousins.

They have hauled in at least 5 trucks of dirt and two of gravel for the driveway. It will be so nice to have a lawn and not have to deal with mud anymore. Although in the country, mud is a season of its own.

Now, I have to ask around to see who does cement work. SIL said his cousin does but I wonder just how dependable he is. I'll do some asking at church. Someone will know someone.

I'm done cleaning the back room-threw away TWO barrels of stuff. Am going to clean the cupboard in the laundry room next. I have a lot of painting, stripping and staining to do next.
  • Ladies! I got the pictures done. Here's the website of my backyard project!

It's got a few bugs that I need to fix, but it's pretty much done. I hope everyone will be able to view it. It's flash and it may take a bit to load, I believe it was about 2 megs big.

Here's the link to my project journal with photos

    My backyard project

It's not done yet, but at least we got it started. Still got a long way off before it's done. In somme of the pictures you may be able to see the wooden fence that the neighbors dog has been eating hehehe so we are tyring to get estimates on getting it replaced with a brick wall. That's our next project.

    Take care...
    Sue...
