Friday Chat - August 20th

  • Good Morning,

So, any good plans for the weekend ? Watcha all up to ?

Tomorrow is build a bear w/the girls and then to Micky D's for lunch, Sunday is DD's barbie birthday party, I think I'm more excited than her I know cathy is gonna ask this.. we are having Ice Cream cake from Carvel, you know the kind w/the crunchies in the middle ziti, nacho platters, burgers & dogs. Easy things.

So that would be it !

Today I leave work at noon, only 2 more friday's left I can leave early

This cold / virus I have is taking its toll on me. I almost drove myself to urgent care yesterday on my way home from work. When I left to go home, its about a 10 minute walk to my car, my legs got like rubber, I was dizzy and it felt like some one was sitting on my chest. But I made it home okay and just sat. I went to our medical dept here and they gave me antibiotics w/some decongestants so I'm hoping that will do the trick, since my doctor is such an a$$wipe. When I saw her 2 weeks ago she gave me caugh medicine, never checked my BP or my ears for the dizzyness.. she said when the cough syrup is gone, and I'm still coughing to call her and she would prescribe antibiotics.. I said okay and I did that. When I called to get the antibiotics she said no, I'm not giving you those, I'll give you an inhaler ??? I said WHAT !??? NO, because I felt like she was treating the symptoms and not the cause... dumb

I have to find another doctor real soon. I called my Hubby's doctors office yesterday to see if any of the dr's there could see me, and they asked me if it was an emergency, so I told them yes, I was dizzy and having a hard time breathing... the nurse/receptionist said.. sorry we can't see new patients for 2 - 3 weeks. Follow up w/us then ???????????? Nice place huh. (Thats why I went to our company medical dept b/c nobody would see me).

    So thats my story !!

    Calgon, take me away ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Good Morning Gang!

dang Leenie - those doctors offices are not cooperating with you at all. I'm thinking those antibotics will definitely help you - as long as you are not even sicker then you think you are - but those antibotics definitely ought to help! I hope you feel better girlie! and yes I was gonna ask about the cake and food for the bd party - you know me so well hehe HEY - what is "build a bear with the girls"???

I got up early and did 3 miles this morning! yea me! That makes 20 miles for August so far. I am definitely behind in my walking goal, but I'm pluggin along anyway.

My boss and his wife are leaving for an Alaskan cruise on Sunday and this place is absolutely WILD! and there are a gazillion things going on with both our guys back in classes and my mom is talking about my grandfather moving in with my uncle and trying to set up times for everybody to help.

Leenie - maybe we could get a great big hot tub and fill it with Calgon and we could all just fade away!

Tippy - sounds like you've had a really busy and emotional week! hugs! what ya doing today?

I'll be back later to check on our gang!

    hugs,
    cathy
  • We are waiting for an estimate on some remodeling we'd like done. The man is a son of a neighbor. If any of you have ever been in an old house you'll understand this. We have two rooms side by side sharing a closet that runs between them. There are two doors to this closet-one in each room. We also have two stairways and never use the one nearest to these two rooms. We want to remove the stairway and one closet and put in a small(?) bathroom-about 6'x6'. Also, by removing the stairway, we can have a small closet for one of the rooms which we use as an office and a large closet for the other which we use as our master bedroom.

Oh, the dust! Between that remodeling and the replacing of all the windows, I have a feeling that everything will have a layer of dust one inch thick. I'd beter invest in a ton of Swifters-those dusting thingies. I like them but I haven't figured out how to put them on the handle that comes with them.

    gotta go---literally. BBL maybe.
  • Hi everyone.....well it has been quite a week....

Leens the party sounds great I hope you are feeling well enough to enjoy it.

Tip your reno's sound great...how many square feet is your house.....it sounds great!

Cathy how are things......good job on the exercise.....I will have to find out how many miles my walk is......and get my darn pedometer working

My mood is down.....I am still PMS ing which I can't explain and had a big spat with hubby last night, dreading back to school and doing full time starting Monday at work until the long weekend in September. I wake up with such a heavy heart and no matter what I try to do I can't shake it.....though I can ignore it for awhile

Gonna touch base with my girlfriend today.....she should be home with the baby today....go have a look....nothing feels better than holding a new baby!

    Be well gang!

  • Hi everyone!

Leenie - I'm sorry to hear that virus/bug is still getting you down. I swear, if it weren't for the absence of a sore throat that I would say you sound like what I had. Oh and minus the rash... ICK! I'm still feeling a bit run down too and I have been better for about 2 weeks... Gotta love doctors tho... I hope all goes well with DD's bday and I love Build a Bear! There's also a place out here called Color Me Mine, where you can go with your kids or friends to pick out a ceramic object and paint them any way you want and watch them be put in the kiln to harden. I do it once a year with my family. I put the date and all that on the ceramics... it's great. I thought I was the only one that ever really remembered the Calgon commercials. I say it here and the kid thinks I'm loopy!

Cathy - Build a Bear - you go to one of their stores and you can pick out a bear and stuff it and dress it up yourself. Most of the places I have seen are in malls. I am sorry that the info is a little vagues, it's been over a year since I have been there heheh...

Tippy - I know the feeling! My mom is having her kitchen re-done. New counter tops, new paint through out entire house (I really gotta talk to her about that yellow-green-icky looking paint in the bedroom too EESSH) The old kitchen had pink and blue floral walpaper trim and so when she replaced the counter tops, she made it like a tanish color to match that cabinets. She doesn't plan on re-doing the floor and I don't know what, because it's got blue and pink floral decorations on it, which no longer matches the kitchen lol... ahh gotta love remodeling. I think I might hire her guy for my house... I want to retile the kitchen and he does building, so I may get my patio green house extention... oooh and he land scapes LOL... okie I'm getting ideas here... I better shush, I gonna get in way over my head h ehehe... hope all goes well with your remodeling!

Liz - Hi there, I am sorry you have been feeling rather down Hopfully after the PMS goes by, things will clear up for you. *big hugz* About the pedometer. Yes, they are great. I have like a collection from McDonalds during that salad promotion they had, but I have to admit, there are cheap. Some count faster some counter slower. Either way, I bought myself a pedometer from Walmart. Sportline brand. It does distance, calories burned and has a clock and of course counts steps. It was about 8 bucks, they have just a plain pedometer for about 4 or 5 bucks. Kid wants one, so I may buy her one. She's been like really excited to go with me on walks and exercise with me... tho she poops out quick on the exercise videos LOL... Bless her heart tho... I hope all goes well for you, and definately, nothing makes you warm and fuzzy like holding a new baby... Just one giggle or smile can really make your day! Takre care and congrats to the girlfriend on her new baby!

Been a busy few days... I did some cleaning up, I think I wanna wash my car today. I keep saying that, but it never happens My poor car, she's been neglected for so long. She's probably cursing at me right now. I bought her a dash cover when I got her. That was in 2001, and the dash cover is still sitting in the box in the garage. I'm great huh? LOL I will have James fish out the dash cover for me. I will get her washed by the end of the week... and waxed! AND! Before the sun dries out my leather seats I will put conditioner on them... Man... I gotta go buy some stuff... LOL off to the store I go...

    Catch you ladies later!
  • Hi Gals
    Hi Gals,
It is rainly lightly here today.I promised my best friends teens to take them kayaking since their school has not started yet.....we went kayaking & fishing even tho it rained we didnt mind.It was good! I packed a sandwich and apple and off we went. When we were pulling the boats on shore Rob dropped his new cell phone in the water so.................it probably ruined his day!

  • Our house has 3000 square feet total. Since the basement is 100 years old, we don't use it for storage. So, we use a fair amount of the upstairs for storage. I do have a sewing room that is 17'x17 and an smaller room for storage that is 11'x11' up there. We're debating putting a bathroom up there cause when I take the diuretics....!!!!!!
  • Tippy
Go for it........you cannot have too many bathrooms..we have 3 and love all 3!
