Oh huzzah, huzzah Lisaluvshearts! ...and what a cutie. I'm sure he's probably just happy to have found you safe as well. And good luck on your new program!
|
OMG isn' that the best news ever!!!! Lisa we are soooooo happy to hear Buggy is with you!!! :D :D :D
wow. what a little tough guy!! and YOU are a here to getting up the ladder, tearing the ceiling apart, getting to him and getting him and you down the ladder!!! oh you must be feeling so happy. Yes now you must feel like anything is possible and fine, as long as your fur babies are all safe :D this is the best thing to hear :cheer2: |
Okay, good morning ladies. I went to Ross's department store to buy my daughter bed linens for her new grown up bed, caught a vision of myself in a full length mirror, and felt so bad that my kid is almost three and I still haven't lost the pregnancy weight that I decided to buy myself some shoes (which I needed) and a pint of ice cream and cookies (which I didn't). Unconscious self loathing is hard, and uncontrollable waves of self disgust seems unbearable. I've avoided full length mirrors for this very reason; I just forgot yesterday and looked. I want so badly to fit back into my pre pregnancy clothes, and every day it seems farther away.
But here we are today, and I'm trying to envision spaciousness around my critical thoughts, rather than imagining them choking me. Someone below wrote something about choosing your hard - I'm paraphrasing - the difficulty of getting fit or the difficulties that come with not doing so? So that's where I'm at today. May I not be sitting in my chair writing this same thing to you all in March 2017. Thanks for listening. |
Lisa, I am so happy for you and Buggy! The poor thing must have been petrified! He looks great in his latest photo. Now that you have found the little cutie, everything else will go well for you. Please let us know how the weight-loss program goes.
Holly, I hope you have had a great, long summer. I just noticed that I spent more on electricity - basically central air - in September than I did in any other month this year! The humidity made me miserable. It isn't usually that bad here on the Cape. When I built this house 27 years ago, I put in the biggest AC system available because of how I am so miserable in the heat and humidity. How has the rat b*stard boss been? Are you still putting in a few hours here and there? Kathleen, my biggest news is I was in NYC over the weekend, and I was actually on the street where the bomb went off about 30-40 minutes before it went off. We zigzagged our way through Manhattan to leave. There were many streets closed because of the U.N. assembly and a parade. We ended up in Chelsea.....still keeps going through my head! How is your son doing? Were you able to get reimbursed for his tuition, etc.? Hello to everyone else. |
Good morning, all :)
Wow, what a time I've had! I ended up getting super sick, first with a sinus infection that turned into an upper respiratory infection and wound up with tracheobronchitis. I went back to the doctor and he prescribed nebulizer treatments, a corticosteroid inhaler, prescription cough suppressant, and a stronger antibiotic. Finally, nearly a month after first getting sick I'm on the up and up! With that said, I haven't been motivated or had the energy to do much at all. No exercise, eating has been wonky :( Hopefully this is the start of doing better, though! AND, my wife and I decided this was it... it's time to quit smoking :dizzy: I've been a regular pack a day smoker since I was 17 years old. I'm now 36 :( I've quit dozens of times, always ending up starting again. So wish me/us luck!!! Our quit date is 09/26 (which actually happens to be our 1 year anniversary as well!) We are going out of town for our 1 year anniversary on the 24th/25th because I have a late day at work on our actual anniversary. So that's about what's up with me. I hope everyone has a fantastic day :grouphug: |
Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well :)
Lisa, I'm glad Buggy is calming down, still so happy to hear you found him! Howare things with the insurance company coming along? Also, hope your weight loss group goescalright! Anita, your story about being woken made me laugh... one day when your daughter is 18 or so, you totally have to embarrass her with that story! We moved offices the other day, and now I have to walk past a full length mirror every time I enter the building, so I completely sympathise with having to look at yourself :( Kathleen, did your daughter qualify for the paralympics? How have you been getting on too? Have you been swimming much? Holly, how many weeks do you have left at the summer job now? Monica, so glad you weren't caught up in the NY attack. It sounded pretty frightful, and those sorsts of near misses are always so unnerving! Jessica, good luck with the smoking quitting! It's really difficult, my sister has been doing really well with an electronic cigarette, she hasn't smoked a real cigarette in 9 months! Are you going for a nicotine replafement, or are you going cold turkey? |
Hi Chicks can I join this thread I have MH problems :( xxxx

Hello Topsy -Welcome to the thread! I read your other recent posting - I have no advice to give, but just want to recognize your tenaciousness and focus on your daughter even as you are going through some pretty rough stuff. You get all the hugs today. I'll be sending good thoughts your way throughout the day. |
...and three cheers for you, JesikaBeth. Every day you wake up and try to commit yourself to your health is a good one.
My mom smoked from 15 to 65, and though she failed to quit smoking so many times before - two packs a day - that time (65) worked for her. When I ask her about it, she says, "I figured after 50 years, I pretty much knew the taste of a cigarette; it wasn't going to taste new or different, so I just said, I'm done' and started telling myself, 'I am not a smoker'". I don't think that made it easier for her, but I remember at the time, she was just...resolved. She's 83 now, so something must be working. Anyway, all to say, good on you for taking care of your health! |
Hi Topsy? Welcome to the thread :)
Also hi to showeverything1, I hope you found sept thread ok! |

Jesikabeth, I am so proud of you for not smoking anymore. We are here for you, Jesika, truly we are. Losing weight is so hard but quitting smoking on top of it.....I know you can do it and anytime at all, that you need to vent, you go at it. Quote:

I am still at my daughter's home. It's frustrating, the process of fixing my house is slow. It was looked at last week by the adjuster. I called him today to see where he was it the process. It'll be a few more days until he knows a monetary total. I dread knowing how much it's going to cost. :( Have a great Wednesday. |

Thank you so much, Holly. You all are so wonderful to me, caring about my Buggy like you do. He's healing, I can see it. He hides a little but comes out when it quiets down. He's sleeping on Jennifer's bed, he's sleeping under it. He comes out in the living room and lays on the carpet. He doesn't stay anywhere for very long, but he is more social. He's resilient. If we ever get back in my house, he'll be ok, I think. He could have some kind of PTSD, he went through **** in that house. Much love to you, Holly. :) |

Good morning everyone, I hope you all are doing alright this morning :)
I'm ok, had to come into work early to get some work done, but decided to stop on by 3FC and check in. AND today is my Friday - WhooHoo :carrot: Feeling dumpy lately, it's 'that time of the month' and I feel bloated and am constantly hungry. It's frustrating me. I usually do very well with food, etc. except when I have my period (sorry if TMI). Luckily it doesn't last but 5 days :p I hope everyone has a great day. I'll be back on Monday  |

Anyway, sorry to *****. We will all be here for you. :) |
Hi,
I'm hoping that i'll lose the few pounds i've gained while on Zoloft for 1.4 yrs, was on 100 mg and realized weight was creeping up on me, especially in the middle. It was definitely not due to overeating as i've been in maintenance for 3 yrs and continued to eat the same way and exercise. Weaned slowly over the months to 12.5 and just got off last night! Wish me luck and please weigh in if Zoloft made you gain or your experiences |
Good Saturday, everyone. Saying hello before I go off to the Y. A little frustrated because I didn't lose any weight this week, and I'm trying not to feel discouraged about that. Trying to stay present with my feelings of disappointment. What does everyone do to keep their spirits up?
|

I've got some work to do and yes, I wish you all the luck. :) Please post here as much as you need. Quote:
I had an appointment today to have my blood drawn. I go back Wednesday to find out the results. It's the start of my journey to lose some weight. The whole thing is monitored by a nurse, social worker, exercise physiologist and others and they had really good results with this program. I'll post about it as it goes along. Have a great Saturday. :) |
Hi Reilly, good luck with the weight loss! Afraid I've never been on Zoloft, so no help there. I hope you will get your motivation once the fog lifts though!
Anita, I'm really curious what the Y is? I hear people using the term lots, but I've never actually known! Lisa, that weight loss programme sounds pretty good! I really need to look for something like that. Someone to be accountable to! How is Buggy? I'm in a really weird weight loss mood right now - I want to lose weight, but I haven't bothered to make any changes to my diet, but I still somehow expect to see the scales go down! Someone suggested I just break it down: cut 200 calories out every day, then cut another 200. I've been trying that this week, but I undid a lot of it by baking cakes during the week... And eating them! |
Morning everyone. Coop, The Y is short for YMCA. I was just too lazy to write it out :). I'm on my way back this morning, after I say hello and have breakfast.
This morning my weight was down a few pounds to 217. It happened so quickly that I figure my scale must have been wonky, and/or I must have dropped a lot of water weight from my period and exercising yesterday. (thought I'd add that period info in solidarity, Jesika!) Still, part of my strategy has been to focus on my sleep, which has improved in the last two days as I just decided to start co-sleeping my with daughter who's been keeping me (and herself) up because she's afraid of monsters. I'm optimistic that focusing on sleep with help me focus on the portion control and exercise. We'll see how it goes. Lisa- I am so impressed that you reached out to your doctor, nutritionist, etc., to ask for help. I'm curious to know what you think of it. Best of luck! Sending you good thoughts your way as well, ReillyJ. Anita |
Hello Everyone!
It is great to log on and see so much activity in the group!!! :) I am trying to keep up with everyone, but ~ even though I LOVE to see so many posts ~ it makes it harder to do personal posts back to everyone. First of all, I am sending out a great big :welcome: to topsy81 and ReillyJ! We are so happy to welcome you both into our group! :)
Coop: My daughter made the USA Women's Sled Hockey Development Team! :D It is one step below the main USA Women's Paralympic Team and still a national level team, so she is thrilled to make that team for her first tryout! Thanks for thinking about her. We are still waiting to get her schedule for the year. This is only the 2nd year they have had the women's development team, so they are still getting it organized, but they will probably play all over the country since the women come from all different states. She will practice with her original home sled hockey team and also a new upper level local team in the meantime. They just want the girls on the ice as much as possible. She loves every minute of it! We used our swimming pool quite a bit this summer. I still didn't do as many laps as I had planned, but more than last year, so that's improvement! :swim: How are things going with your new job? And how has your OH been coping since his dad's death? Did you ever get to try the hypnotherapy for your pain issue? Lisa: It is SO great to see those photos of Buggy!!! :D I am happy to hear that he is slowly but surely coming around more and feeling a bit more comfortable with everything. The fire must have been so traumatic for him, too. Poor guy! I am still so overjoyed that you found him and rescued him from your ceiling panels!!! :D The program you are doing for weight loss sounds great! Having so many professionals involved will be very helpful in your efforts. That is a wise way to approach it. Please do keep us updated on your progress! You can do this, Lisa!!! :cheer2: We are all cheering you on! :cheer3: Monica: Oh my gosh, that is so eerie that you were in NYC and on the street in Chelsea right before the bomb went off! :fr: Thank God you got out of there before it went off!!! That must have scared the daylights out of you when you heard the news about the bomb!!! My son is doing slightly better. He has been coming around to spend time with us just a LITTLE more often, which is an improvement that I will gladly take! He is still really struggling with depression and feels tired much of the time due to the depression, which makes it harder for him to engage in life, which he really needs to start doing again. I am still trying to get him into DBT therapy. Not sure it will ever happen at this point. Yes, thankfully, we were able to get full reimbursement on his tuition for fall semester which he did not attend. Otterbein has been wonderful to work with so far. They are keeping his enrollment open for Spring semester, which will make things much easier if he is in fact ready to go back to school by then. Time will tell. JesikaBeth: Sorry to hear that you were so sick again! :( Best of luck to you in your effort to quit smoking! We will be cheering you on as well! :cheer2: You know you can do it since you've quit before! Only this time it will be for good! ;) Anitanita: I pray and try to focus on the positives in my life to keep my spirits up. Otherwise, trust me, I'd have gone bonkers by now!!! :dizzy: Exercise also helps me, but it is difficult to get motivated to exercise if I am feeling depressed. That can become a vicious cycle, unfortunately. You are smart to focus on your sleep. They say that is such an important component to weight loss. Your daughter sounds so cute, by the way! :) Hope you are able to keep those monsters away and get some sleep! ;) Holly: Hey, busy lady, where have you been?!? ;) I am afraid to ask again when the summer job is over? I haven't kept track of the weeks, but I know it is getting closer if not already time for full time work with the r@t b@st@rd again. I know you probably hate to see summer end as much as I do. I am still in denial that it is over!!! :( I already miss our long weekends at the lake! I hope you have still been able to get out on your motorcycle a lot though. Please pop in and let us know how you are doing when you get a chance! We miss you! |
Anita, thanks for explaining! I always thought that's what it meant.
Kathleen - so thrilled for your daughter! That will be so exciting, getting to travel and see the country! Well I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next big sporting events in case she's in them! OH is ok. It's tough just now, he's pretty run down, but handling things admirably. I did get along for a couple of hypnosis sessions. It's hard to tell whether it's helping yet - I think there has been some change, so will keep going for now! Very glad you made it out to your pool :) |
Hi all I am new here... it is good to meet you. I am a 40 something with anxiety/depression... no meds but when I was obese it was because of them. I am at a better BMI with a little ways to go yet.
I have a lot of fatigue and sleep issues from these things I mentioned, so presently I am trying to convince myself to walk to the store for my bag of frozen veggies to eat today! |

Hey Coop!! Buggy is doing pretty well. He's still timid but comes out when the house is quiet. He's not mad about the whole thing, so that is good. I went to the first week of my weight loss classes. We went over the results of the blood tests that were done last Saturday. I had mixed results with my blood sugar being high. everything else was in the normal range. I go next Wednesday for my next class. HOw are you doing? I've been the same way in the past, that I expect my weight to go down without any effort. I now see I cannot do that. I'm having trouble with this page so I will send it, Coop. |

How are you doing? |
I wanted to tell you all about what else I am doing. Along with the weight loss classes, on Oct 8th, I am going to another meeting. This meeting too, is about weight loss.
I have signed up to use weight loss suppliments, in place of 2 meals a day. I will be doing this program too, along with the other one. The hospital oversees both. I will find out more info next Thursday and let you all know more. Have a great Thursday ladies. :) |
Welcome!
snapple: :welcome: to the group! :) I hate it when anxiety and depression cause fatigue and sleep issues, but, unfortunately, it is very common. I am glad you are here and I hope you were able to convince yourself to walk to the store for your veggies! ;)
|
Lisa
Lisa: Both of the weight loss programs you are participating in sound great! I applaud you for taking these positive steps for yourself and for your health. You deserve it! :) Please keep us informed about your progress. I hope that you will see results fairly quickly so it will motivate you to keep moving forward with the programs. :)

Kathleen, I am so sorry I missed your post above. I honestly don't know how I missed it. I am very sorry. Honestly Kathleen, I have hit rock bottom. I don't have a choice but to lose weight. It's hard for me to walk, I screwed up my knees the day I climbed to get Buggy out of the ceiling. I also got my left knee stuck behind me and it's really bad. I can't walk without pain now. I was in a very small space trying to sit down and my leg got stuck. I've got to do something. My quailty of life is at it's worst. I most certainly will keep you updated on how things are going. Love you. :) |
This is a really nice group, thank you I did go to the store. And the veggies are cheap today😀 So I may even go back.
I tend to be sedentary as one will with the 2 sided coin of anxiety/ depression. But I have been making myself get up every hour and do something cardio. At least get my heart rate up if only for a few minutes. |
l am so glad your cat was ok Lisa, he is a beautiful creature. So happy that cat tale had a happy ending.
|
Hey Snapple. Welcome! I'm a newbie to this site as well, (well long time lurker, recent poster).
Lisa: I know what you mean about hitting rock bottom. Part of the issue for me is the depressing feeling about not knowing how/if what you're doing is going to make a difference this time. I think I've come to a place where I now think it's about the tinkering. That everybody as something that works for them, and it's worth spending your time tinkering with routine, food, support, etc. until you find the right combination for you. As for me: I think I'm doing okay. I'm getting ready to go to the gym, my eating has been steady, and I *feel* a little lighter. But I'm afraid to weigh myself, because I think I'm fragile enough that if I don't see a weight change it will send me spiraling. Still, it really helps to say that to someone and get it off my chest. Just saying morning Coop , JesikaBeth and ReillyJ! Hope everyone has a good day. Anita |
Hi anita, good to meet you... hope you are well and your work out was great :)
This week no real change on the scale... for what I was eating I expected more. Oh well. BF has lost about 10 lbs in 2 weeks... how is that even possible? He eats plenty. Sigh. |
Hi snapple, welcome to the thread! What is it with meds and weight gain? Hope you have success in your battle.
Lisa, I'm glad buggy is getting there! I imagine anyone would react as buggy has to being caught in a fire! I'm glad your bloods came back alright, and you're on the journey now! I joined a gym today, it was my first workout in a really long time. I got an app to help train me to run 5k (3 miles), I ended up getting a stitch after the warm up walk! I am so unfit. Anyway, gotta persevere! |
Hi Coop I am off meds for years now. It's just me lol!
Doin' good today, hope you all are too :) |
Anita, I know what you mean about being scared of the scales, but when I avoid them, I tend to continue eating poorly! Bite the bullet, and at least that way you know what you're dealing with!

:cheer::balloons::woops::welcome::welcome3::welcom e2: snapple, thank you so much. He is very pretty and he's a good kitty. I am very lucky to be his kitty momma. He fought to live, I am going to protect him from now on. He will never want for anything until the day he passes from this life. I want to apologize to you, snapple. I missed posting to you too. I am very sorry. We are thrilled to have you here with us, srsly. Post and vent all you want. |
