The basic tenets have nothing to do with being fat yourself. I still agree with those you listed, having once been fat myself.
So you need to decide what you want for yourself.
When I was fat I did not want to be fat. Should that mean I be discrimianted against? No. But it in no way meant that I wanted all the health issues that surrounded being overweight either. And I had them. Bad knees. High blood pressure. Bad choleserol. Lots of sweating. Itchy skin. The list goes on.
So work out if you want to be fat for you. If you want to lose weight, try to stick with your community but if they become an obstacle and you still want to not be fat then make some changes.
We all make changes. That's part of life.
