  • @meandu I am the same way, right now I am not on any meds (soonest appointment I could get with a psychiatrist is in three weeks) and already I feel that constant need to snack and lack of control over what kinds of foods I eat. For example yesterday was stressful at work and my first instinct was "I NEED to get a burrito for lunch." So I need something that will change that thought process in my brain. Glad celexa works for you!
  • I HATED Citalopram. I was on it for about 6 months, a couple of years ago. It made me utterly miserable, like a lobotomy in a bottle. I wasn't trying to lose weight while on it, I think it may have crept up a bit but not a significant amount, and I attribute it to my erratic eating patterns and inability to get out of bed for days when I was on it. So I couldn't really attest to how it affects weight loss, but I feel so much better now I'm off it (I switched to counselling and occasional beta blockers for panic attacks and insomnia). One thing I CAN say is it screwed up my circulation, as within a week of taking it I started getting a horrible cramped, dead feeling in the outside of my right thigh. That is still with me despite being off the drug for a few years. And one of the reasons I'm making exercise a big priority losing weight for the last time :-) I need to feel healthy again and get rid of the side effects this stuff gave me.
  • im currently on citalopram and i never really realized it could make me gain weight :0 but im having success so far with losing weight so i guess im lucky that it isnt affecting me that way.
  • I have been on citalopram for about 6 months and before now I did not relate to 20 pound weight gain to it!!! I take citalopram for chronic pain and depression, abilify for anxiety and prednisone for rheumatoid arthritis!!! So the deck is stacked but it is time for change. I am so glad I have found you!
