Anyone You Know ?

  • Does this sound like anyone you know? . . .

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

    This is how it manifests:

I decided to wash my car. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the hall table. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trash can under the table, and notice that the trash can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I find the Diet Coke that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Diet Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the Diet Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Diet Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye. They need to be watered. I set the Diet Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, we will be looking for the remote, but nobody will remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

  • This is totally me!
...except I have always been this way!

It is the only way I get so much done!

  • Hi Leens,
This just shows that your multi-tasking abilities have kicked in. I think most women today go about their day that way. Thanks for sharing that with us. You made me laugh and I needed that cause I am at work and today still isn't Friday!!!
Obviously I'm new here. I see your name all over the forum. Have you found it to be rewarding? I am looking forward to talking to all the different people eventually. Later!
  • Hi Schmo, and Welcome !!

Yup I'm all over this place, it feels like home. It is very rewarding because these people are very supportive and I love the daily chick chat with them - especially the silly ones

There is a daily thread here and thats where you can find us each day. Sometimes we don't post every day but we try. The only way to get to know each other is to post.

Hope to see you on the daily.

    Huggs !!
  • Welcome Schmo, glad you could join us here at 3fatchicks!

Leens...that is totally me too...but like Lizzie said, I have always been like that. Having 4 children and running in a hundred directions I don't think it was a choice. I drive my husband crazy, I will go into the bathroom with the intention of taking a bath and an hour and a half later the bathroom is sparkling and I haven't even poured the tub. I go downstairs to my laundry room to put a wash in and the next thing I know, I am cleaning the basement and the worst part is...time is not a concern, it could be 11 pm and I start cleaning......... then I come across a box of papers from my kids, from grade school and I sit and look through them. I reminise and get all teary eyed and before you know it another hour is gone!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

There is one good thing about all of this, I have been married 32 years and I never get stressed over doing spring or fall cleaning (like some of my friends) because I am constantly at it, (with the exception of curtains and outside windows).

Well, I am sure those of you that suffer with this affliction get the picture!!! I always wonder though...if I was really organized, I would be amazing!!!! You know, one of those "super wives", since my children are all gone I can't be a "super Mom" anymore.

    Have a great day!!!~~~~~~Meg
  • I have done this for years. When I was working as an RN.....one day we talked about this.....we said that it was because we were RN's....we were always so busy at work....that we would often get sidetracked at work....starting something....then going on to one thing & another.
