Acutally, Topamax is no longer a drug of choice for bipolar.
I was on this several years ago for a mood stabilizer and at the time it was a popular drug for bipolar 2 with a great "side effect" of appetite suppressant and weight loss.
It caused word finding problems with me along with eyesight issues.
there are many other preferred meds available now other than Topamax.
Everyone is different and has a different experience.
I found myself stuck on the side of a busy highway unable to see clearly, difficulty on my cell phone finding the right words calling for help while I had three kids in the car..because of this drug. So I am a bit biased against it.
