I have gotten over my severe cravings/addiction to chocolate by following The Metabolism Miracle way of eating. You might want to check out the book and see if it will work for you.

I found a way to quit eating chocolate. Get some Silk Chocolate Light Milk! It's made with stevia, so there's no sugary evil to it. The milk's got stuff you need in it too, and it's just different enough from choc that you don't end up binging on it either :)

Chocoholic

Chocolate is truly my drug. I realized the addiction after co-worker I worked with for years told me how I would eat chocolate and my attitude would immediately change. She said it zoned me out and calmed me down. I refuse to believe a nicotine, alchohol or drug addiction could be any more intense. Anyway, I decided to attack this in a different way. I have been eating cocoa beans or nibs. A very raw kind of chocolate before it is further processed for dark chocolate even. Almost no Calories or fat, and the health benefits are astounding. Seems to be an anti-oxidant that can out boast the best. Anyway, seems to keep my cravings in check, and I do get the high feeling from the common varieties. Chocoholics read up on this stuff.

Oh wow you can just buy the cocoa beans and eat those? Are they incredibly bitter? Where do you buy yours at?

Hi Duqserb,
If you search "Raw Cacao" online you will find several options to purchase online. I did find a variety in my local grocers healthfood section, but it is covered in dark chocolate and therefore has the calories and fat to go along with it. Yes, bitter indeed.

I am also a chocoholic. I am trying the avoidance route. I will be having surgery soon and will dump with sugar. So, I might as well break that cycle now! (So hard with Thin Mints in the house!!!)

I have replaced chocolate with sugar free fudge bars which are allowed on the South Beach Diet, Phase I. They are only 49 calories and if I have to have a binge their not so bad.

Try some replacements. You may be surprised.

What brand? I think the Healthy Choice ones are 80 calories. Does South Beach have its own? (Trouble is, I can't stop at one, I'll eat the whole package....)
