Chick Chat April 21-27
Good morning ladies,
Thought I'd start our new thread early since I was up. Today I went to my workout buddy's house and she cooked us brunch :cofdate: and the we went to a 'Southern Women's' trade show. It was pretty fun. I bought a pet hair remover that is like a lint roller but you just wash it off when you're done. I also bought a weighted hulla hoop just for something different. Some girls in TBL challenge on 3fc were using them and liked them. Anyone ever tried them? It rained :rain: all day here and I think it is supposed to keep it up tomorrow. I like listening to it while I sleep. I didn't get to workout today and ate too much too. Blah. I'm going to try to do well tomorrow b/c I'm pretty sure there will be some bday cake comin my way Tuesday. Iris: I use the term addiction loosely. Apparently I conquered that feeling today b/c I didn't get any exercise in! Jerzy: How ya doin today? Feelin OK? Sassy: Strawberries, any berries. Love 'em. Leenie: glad you had an easy day. Hope we get to see you again b4 the weekend. Heather: We're still waiting for an update. :dizzy: No rush or anything! ;) What's up everybody? |
UGH another Monday!!!! lol
Hey Girls.
UGH another flippin' Monday. :p I do not wanna go to work tonight..........at all........:( I know totally childish.......lol...........But can't help it, just have absolutely no motivation!!! I did manage to do laundry.........Whoopee......lol. I think I need to just sleep for like 100 hrs and MAYBE I'd have some energy.......Just soooooo sleepy....... Anywho........Well I got my Strawberries, sorta. lol. DH bought me my favorite icecream yesterday and I ate it lastnight/this morning whatever......But I was bad, I didn't eat "consciously" and ate the entire pint! :faint: If I had eaten "consciously" then I would have stopped very quickly....... Hope -- Glad you had fun at the trade show............I have an interesting story speaking of "Hula Hoops" My younger cousin could never say my name so instead she called me "Hula" when she was little. Now her and her brother are the only two who can get away with calling me that. Anywho, Have a Great Week All............ |
Good Morning Gang
I had a busy weekend and didn't make it in here. We had Disciple Now at church and had almost 100 teenagers staying in homes and having Bible Studies and having fun and everybody had a GREAT time. Last nigh I tried to get my laundry done since I wasn't home much. Today I'm draggin a little :dz: Sassy - you mentioned conscious eating. Today I ran off a bunch of daily food journals and I'm back to writing down everything I put into my mouth and counting the calories. I'm gonna try to keep it to about 1200 calories daily. Might take me a couple of days to get back on track. The thing that works best for me is counting calories and the only way for me to really stay on track with my eating is to write it down and add it up. Hey Hope - you were up late. I hope you get to do a workout if you want to. I slept in til 6 this morning since I just needed some rest. My plan is to get up earlier tomorrow and get a 2 mile walk before work. What's everybody doing today? :p I'm suppose to be working so I better get back to it. Hope everybody has a blessed day! :) hugs, Cathy |
sassy, i honestly don't feel like going to work tonight either. 2nd shift is such a bummer - i feel like i'm finally getting my day started and then i have to go to work!
hope, don't overcome the exercise addiction! i think i did and i want it back! btw they have those weighted hula hoops at my gym but i have never tried them. let me know what you think of it, maybe i should. cathy, sounds like a great weekend chuch event you had! this morning felt half decent, but i'm trying to tread carefully. last week was a downer for me and i'm very tentative about feeling good right now because i know TOM is going to come and knock it out of me. |
Morning ladies!
Just a quick hi and then I have to run to class - only 2 more weeks left! Yeeha. This weekend I stayed super busy, so I didn't make it in here either. Saturday morning I went and picked up a truckload of sod for my backyard from a friend who was tearing hers out (!) and then we got a winter storm coming through! Boy was I glad I got the sod when I did. I also took all my recycling to the center, which I've been putting off for about 2 months, went produce shopping, altered 1 pair of pants and 2 skirts (I accidentally over-did taking in one of the skirts so I better get back on the stick and lose some more weight so I can wear it! Haha), and cleaned my kitchen. I wanted to get the whole house done, but just couldn't do it! Unfortunately, because of the weather and being so busy I didn't get my run in :( so I'll have to do it today instead! :) Also, this week is Bike/Walk/Bus week in my town (earth day and all) so I rode my bike to work. Unfortunately, this was my week to restock the office fruit bowl, so I ended up riding to work with 22# of fruit stashed in my bike baskets! Oh, the looks I got! And I was SLOWWWWWW.... I am amazed at how much harder it was to ride with that extra 22#. Seriously, no wonder I was so inactive when I was heavier - its HARD. Hope - a weighted hula hoop sounds fun! Where did you find one? I used to take belly dancing, I wonder if it would work those same muscles? Mmmm.... listening to rain while lying in bed is just about my favorite thing ever! Sassy - Sorry about the ice cream. I'm super impressed that you can see how it would have been different applying your conscious eating though! :yay: That's how we learn, right? Get some relaxing in when you can, Rip Van Winkle-Sassy. Cathy - your weekend sounds like it was very busy, but very fulfilling! I think it is so wonderful the work you do with teens in your church! You set a wonderful example for those young people! Ack - class time! Toodles, chickies! :grouphug: |
Wow, good to see everybody. I thought I was in last week's chat for a minute! :D
DF helped me set up a pet pin in the den with a door that leads out through the doggy door. Now they are in an area where nothing can be chewed or pottied on that will get hurt, but they can still run around and play. Whew. :whoo: Thank the Lord. I had to get some medicine from the vet today because of loose potty issues. tmi, sorry. I think it's the parasite leaving them that they had when we got them. Any dog whisperers on here? I may go look around at some clothing stores just to get out of the house for a while. My friend is coming to workout around 6pm tonight but I may do a little bit before and try out my hula hoop. I admire that bike riding Amarie! :bike: How far is it to work? I bet you were a sight with 22 #s of fruit in front. I think you did plenty this weekend. Yard work of any kind will kill you. Cathy: I don't blame you for sleeping in. Sounds like you had your hands full, but I'm sure it was well worth it. You are doing some great work that will pay off in ways you may never know till we get to the other side. ;) Sassy: So I'm taking it your favorite ice cream is strawberry? It would be hard to say what mine is: coffee, cookie dough, rocky road...:cloud9: Sorry you have to work. Iris: Glad you are having a cautiously better day. TOM is on his way to beat the joy out of me too. :s: He'll probably show tomorrow for my bday. I guess he doesn't want to miss out on cake! I didn't know you worked night shift or second shift? |
|
Hey Iris - You must have been posting when I was! I'm glad you're feeling better! I think I know what you mean about the treading carefully after an off week - It's kinda like the halo that comes after a migraine - where the memory of the pain is like an echo of the actual headache, and you're afraid to move too quickly. Take care!
Hope - its about 1.5 mile to work - not really much at all, and mostly level. I am just amazed at how much oxygen my quads need to pedal pedal pedal! I may not be fit now, but I'm gonna be! It will be good practice for next year. I won't be able to afford gas on my grad stipend, so I'll be biking everywhere. :bike2: Good job with the puppy pen! Goodness, I can't even remember how I survived my pup's puppihood intact - I do remember I LOVED a book on raising puppies by the Monks of New Skete - it was very helpful for me. Good luck! Leenie - zoom! Alright all - am back from class (with an extra bike ride home and back to work because I forgot my work slacks this am). Need to put nose to grindstone!!! |
Hey all..Sorry I havent written in awhile.
I'd been feeling pretty good with my meds and all. I pretty much stopped exercising (except for walking) when dh went on leave. I've been eating non stop too. Which turned into emotional eating when I realized what time of the month it is (and no..not "that" time). April 27 is coming up, and that is the day my mom went into the hospital. She was there on my birthday too. And that day is next tuesday. I'm feeling sooooo depressed right now. I finally broke down crying last night and started stuffing my face with everything in sight. It only seems to happen at night too. I dont know why that is. Her 2 year anniversary is coming up May 28th..and I'm just dreading it. I'm dreaming about her non stop..and when I'm awake, I keep seeing her laying in that hospital bed hooked up to all those machines. I seriously do not want these thoughts in my mind. I want to get another tattoo so I can just feel the pain of something different. How weird is that? And I dont really have anyone to talk to this about either. My friends seem tired of hearing about it..and it upsets my dh because he loved my mom too. So I'm just all alone with these thoughts and emotions. I'm wondering if I should get a higer dosage of my meds. But I seem to be doing okay with the dosage I'm on right now. So I dunno..I guess its somewhat natural to be feeling depressed about this..If the anxiety starts again then I probably will have to get a higher dosage. Ugh..this all sucks!!!!!!!!! |
Hi Girls.
Hi Girls.
Well here I am, made it to work. lol. I actually took my shower early this morning and went to bed early for a change and it really helped!!! ;) Boy has it been busy! I have a co-worker here but he isn't taking the same calls as me! I have no idea why! He just said they have him taking different calls. PFFFT Figures. lol. May as well be here by myself! lol. Anywho................I feel loads better than this morning. I think it had to be that pint of Strawberry Cheesecake Icecream I gulped down Sunday Evening. :o That will teach me! lol. I blame DH, he is the one who bought it, all I wanted was Strawberries! lol. Cathy -- Yes when I "consciously" eat it is much different than when I don't that is for sure! Wish you luck getting back on track! ;) Iris -- Yeah it is kinda sucky working nights -- esp in the summer, but I love it because I am definitely a night person! lol. Plus the extra money I make for working nights helps too. lol. Amarie -- Thanks. Yes it is def a big dif between consciously eating and not! If I had eaten consciously, I know I would have only eat a few bites! Wow you were a busy woman! Wowsers snow! :fr: That is just crazy! lol. Hope -- glad the doggies are in a "doggie friendly" place. Nope I'm not a dog whisperer, sorry. lol. Actually my favorite icecream is Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake. lol That counts as Fruit and Dairy, right? lol. Francie -- You can talk to me anytime. Like I said in the PM, I beleive you have all my stuff, yahoo chat, email, etc. Well have a great night! |
Francie...It might be worth calling your doc to see if s/he has any ideas for coping through this month. There are some anxiety meds that help quickly when circumstances change...at least I've been helped in the past.
I totally understand the tattoo thing. I loved getting mine and the pain is an escape. My cousin was a cutter for awhile (I should say IS and that she is recovering because she fights the urge constantly) and so I guess the endorphins/adrenaline released from pain are soothing when you feel so terrible...? Exercising is impossible when you feel so bad. You'll get back into it. Jillian is waiting! Stuffing your face with food, pain from another tattoo, all ways to avoid dealing with the feeling you might explode if you confront the emotions. I know it well. I also watch A LOT of t.v. to escape. Def. call the doc so you can get through this. Love ya babe. Glad to see you back! |
Hi Francie -
Sweety, mourning is hard, and its not fast. I'm sorry you're in so much pain right now. I think Jerzy is right - reach out to your doc and see what kinda things he/she can suggest to help you through. And know that we love you, and we understand... I'm glad you came back to us  I've missed you. |
Totally Off - Topic here but figured it was intersting:
Would any of you go swimming in the Devils Swimming Pool? |
Quote:
That looks terrifying. Just a wall holds them back? EEEEEEKKKK. |
WOW Sassy - that's some powerful water!!!!! ok so I don't think I would swim in there but I would love to stand there and look at it. Even the sound of the water if powerful! WOW!
I got home last night and didn't have to cook supper so I put on my walking pants and shoes and did 2 miles :cb: Then I got up early and did 2 miles this morning too :running: I also pulled out my daily food journals yesterday morning and I'm back to writing down everything I put into my mouth and counting the calories. That seems to work best for me ..... and I'm trying hard to get back on track. Thanks for all the comments and encouragement about working with teenagers. Y'all are so right - it is important stuff and very rewarding! We love being around teenagers! We have the 12th graders in sunday school - dear hubby has the guys and I have the girls - but of course, for all the youth activities we are involved with the 6th thru the 12th graders. It's great stuff!!! I hope everybody has a blessed day! hugs, Cathy |
devil's swimming pool looks pretty awesome! i'd be all in. =)
:hb: happy birthday hope! enjoy the cake! |
WOOt! There's a party goin on here!

hApPy BiRtHdAy HOPE!!!!

Happy Birthday Hope!!!
|
Thanks for the advice and support.
I have a doc appt in 2 hours (thank God they had an opening!!). So we'll see what she says. I dont think I could ever be a cutter. I watched my best friend go through that in high school, and it was just terrible. It kinda freaks me and dh out that I like to get off on the tattoo pain. I got my first tattoo about 2 months after my mom passed away..and my 2nd one a few months after that. Both are on my wrists..and both were painful. Fonzo thinks its really weird that I want all my tattoos in the most painful areas..but I dunno..If I bring this up with my doc, she'll think I'm crazy for sure, lol. To make matters worse, Fonzo will be leaving very soon for 2 months. :( I really dont want him to go. I know I've made it through a 7 month deployment, so 2 months will be a breeze. But I'm just gonna miss him so much. I dont really see my friends anymore. They all had babies and have nothing in commen with me anymore. So I'll probably just sit at home for 2 months becoming a shut in. Except for when I go visit Fonzo in SD for a week. I'm seriously hoping that when May is over, I'll stop being so negative. I was doing really well too. I felt like I had accept what happened and was slowly moving on. But now I'm back to square one. Maybe I was just in denial. I dunno... Anyways..I'm rambling now. I'm gonna go get ready. BBL |
Hi Girlies,
Just a quick note: I will be gone until Saturday morning so if you have any problems, issues, please contact the BIG CHICKS, either Suzanne or Jennifer. See you Saturday  love yah |
Hi everyone!!
Hope,:bday2you:Hope you have a great day and get really spoiled!! shop thats great that you are able to get in to see your doc, hope you can get some answers and you feel better. leenie, we'll miss you. Cathy, you go girl!!! Wow you are a walking machine! Oh sassy, I followed the link and just killed a couple of hours looking through the site. That pool sure looks neat and the photos from the edge are spectacular, but I'm a little afraid of heights. Hi everyone else!! Busy weekend here. A lot of running around on Saturday. B looked so pretty all gussied up. I have to upload all the pictures she took. It looks like she had a blast. On Sunday hubby and I went a bought a new washer and dryer. Unfortunatly they don't arrive until May 2. I'm oddly excited about recieving new appliances?!? Yesterday I went in to my mom's and did a couple loads of laundry and ran around town with her. She bought a second hand fridge for her rental house. Boy is it huge (22 cubic foot) It was a good price and they delivered. And I picked up a new printer/scanner for us. Good thing I did as B needed to print off an essay for school. I don't know if winter is ever going to end around here. We got blowing snow yesterday, thankfully nothing stuck. And we are staying below freezing. We've heard speculation that it is suppose to be a really hot summer, so looking foreward to that possibility. Well I should go and get this floor washed I don't think I can put it off another day. Take care everyone, K |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOPE! :gift:
:hb: you can eat a WHOLE virtual cake...especially when it's smiling ;) :balloons: |
Hey Ya'All
Hey Ya'All,
What a day or night or whatever......I woke up late, DH just sat out in the living room and let me be late. GRRRR! I know I am an adult and all of that, but like I told him, I wouldn't just sit in the other room knowing full well that my spouse was still sleeping and would be late for work. Anywho.....lol Lets see.........I got my shift I wanted. Sun - Wed - Week 1 and Sun - Tues Week 2 -- 9 pm - 9:30 AM Starts May 10th. My boss has been by my cube every evening this week so far and he's been unusually nice! Freaking me out! :fr: Here is the Devil's Swimming Pool to those who haven't viewed it yet. To All -- No way I'd do the Devil's Swimming Pool!!! lol. I'm a big :chicken: lol. Happy Birthday, Hope! :bday2: Hope everybody is doing great. |
AWWW.... Thanks so much everybody! :thanks:
I had a good day today. I had Cracker Barrel for lunch and Mexican for dinner! I ran around and did some shopping inbetween and bought a couple new tops that I could wear to work (if I had a job) or for casual. I wanted to get a mani and pedi but I didn't have time b/c of pool tonight. The team had a cake for me which was german chocolate. It was a treat b/c many of my friends don't like coconut. I also weighed in at WW and was down 3 lbs. :yay: Jerzy: I should have just stuck with the lower calorie virtual cake you sent me! TBL challenge is in the Exercise forum under TBL challenges. Unfortunately the deadline to sign up was April 19. I think it starts this sunday and runs through most of the summer. If you want you can just do it with me and Amarie, and maybe Shop? I can't remember is she signed up. Just report here how much you lost/ gained for the week and your exercise and I'll do the same. It helped me to start my weight loss again. Let us know if you want to. Sassy: Glad you finally had something positive happen at work! :carrot: Buddly: As an adult I've found that new appliances are exciting! I can't believe you still have snow. Cathy: :running::running::running: That's awesome and the food journaling really makes such a difference. Why don't I do it? I don't know but I am inspired by your commitment. Shop:  Missing a parent is so hard. It will take a lot of time and never go away completely. Time alone doesn't make it any easier. I hope the dr.'s visit helps. Come here often and keep us posted. Iris: How are you doing today? Thanks for the cake too! :D Heather: Miss you girl! |
Francie, Once you start feeling better maybe there are some projects you can start to get your mind off of things...like learn to knit or paint the bathroom or build a dollhouse. That way you'd have a goal in mind that will take a certain amount of time...like just enough before Fonzo gets home!
Although these suggestions are not possible, I realize, until you feel better. Let us know what the doc says! (And I'm sure if no one here thought you were crazy for wanting a tattoo, then the psychiatrist DEFINITELY won't!) Good luck, chickadee. |

THANKS |
Hey all..heres a little update.
My doc didnt really want to give me a higer dosage, but I will be going to a therapist next week. They wanted to give me an appt for next tuesday, but thats my birthday, lol. So we just made it for Wed. So ya..we'll see how that all goes. Jerzy~I've been thinking of taking up scrapbooking again. But I have no idea where my scrapbook went, lol. I did find a bunch of books that I never finished reading, or want to read again. So I added them to my summer reading list. I'm also gonna get back on track w/exercising. I pretty much stopped when Fonzo went on leave. I would walk every now & then..but it didnt make a huge difference. I'm gonna put together all my dvds and do a diff one for each day of the week. I want to look somewhat hot when I see Fonzo this summer, lol. |
good morning gang
Hope - sounds like you had a great birthday! and WOW congrats on 3 lbs down!!! Leenie - we miss you already! hope all is well! Hey Buddly - I don't know anyone who wouldn't be excited about new appliances!!! It's hard to believe that y'all are still below zero! wow! It's 70 here right now - with the humidity if feels warmer than that. Hey Sassy - I hate waking up late and then running around like a chicken with my head cut off. It makes for a crazy day! Hey Jerzy & Shopaholic - what y'all up to? I've got to get to work. Hope everybody has a blessed day! hugs, Cathy |
Shop - which dvds do you have? do you use Leslie Sansone walking dvds? I love them!!!
|
I have...
WATP's Walk Silm -2 Mile Faith Walk -the 3 Workouts in 1 -and the woman's walk from nutriysytem TBL's Power Sculpt Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred Core Ball for Beginners & Beyond Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease disc 1 and Meditation for beginners I also have a belly dancing one and this dance off one or whatever its called. But I cant do them, because I get bored during the belly dancing one..and I live on the 2nd floor, so bouncing around would probably make my downstairs neighbors hate us even more, if I did that dancing dvd. |
Morning!
Francie - mmm... meditation for beginners sounds right up my alley! I love guided meditation for getting me out of my head. Well all, I had my aunt over for dinner last night, and it was fabulous! It was so fun to sit and talk. I even got my house clean for the occasion! Haha! Hope everyone is having a glorious day! Amarie |
haha, francie, good call on the dancing dvd w/ your downstairs neighbors. my old neighbors actually complained about my in-home workouts!
just dropping by - it's about that TOM and i'm exhausted and bloated feeling - but carrying on - hope y'all are doing well! |
Hey Ya'All
Hey Ya'all
Well its FRIDAY -- MY FRIDAY! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Yippeee!!! YAHOO! Woo-pee! Running out of words there. lol. Well we got news that one guy on DH's team that works dayshift, is going to be put on weekend -- nights, what DH works now. So that means either him or his current co-worker is being bumped off that shift. DH called our boss and tried to get him to tell him what schedule he got, but the boss would not say......said he'd call him tomorrow...........So we are all wondering now who is going to what shift. At least I know......lol. OH and guess what? My boss approved my time off for next month too! :fr: This is totally freaking me out! Why is he being so nice?? lol. I guess just enjoy it while I can!!! lol. Man it was SOOOO Gorgeous on my way into work tonight.......Very tough to go in!!! :sunny: Hope -- Yes it is nice having positives at work. See? I can be positive about my work. lol. Glad you had a good bday. Coconut -- ick. lol. But glad you enjoyed it. ;) WTG on the weightloss! :D Cathy -- Yeah I hate it, its like it ruins your whole day being late. I like to be early, so you have time to get settled, etc.......before starting work. I don't see how people can stand coming in at 1 minute til and signing in! lol. Francie -- Glad that you seen your dr and hope the therapy goes well for ya! I have a version of WATP. Its not with that lady, but another one, same concept though. I also have a Kathy Smith -- Burn and Firm I think. That one I wanted to reach out and hurt that chick, but I am sure if I did it often enough, it defiitely would work! Speaking of :belly: a co worker of mine, a guy, likes to belly dance......lol. But he says he lost weight from doing it! I live on a second floor too, but I am lucky my neighbor downstairs travels a lot so he isn't home all the time. ;) Big  Everybody!!! |
Sassy~LOL!! That is too funny that a guy likes to belly dance!!
|
What have I been up to? AHH! My life is nuts.
I've literally been working non-stop: I am a Montessori teacher. So, I work until 3 every day and then babysit most afternoons or evenings, work at a winery on the weekends and am also working on a website my friends just launched this week. And sometimes I hang out with friends. It seems crazy to stay so busy and the last time I did this to my life, I burned out....but if I give myself too much free time I eat, sleep and watch t.v. to a fault. I will start posting my daily scheds and see if that helps me put things into perspective: I OVERBOOK MYSELF! Starting today: 8-3 School 3:30-6 babysit 6 and on- website work, t.v. in background...on couch most of evening working on website and browsing other sites, except to make dinner and do some laundry And now it's bedtime. yup. AHHHH |
Wow Jerzy, you are booked up.
I applied to Barnes and Noble and to Dress Barn today. Both would be part time if they hired me. In the mean time, my friend from pool said that the hiring manager (from the job I STILL haven't heard from) got my thank you note I sent last week and was very impressed. She said he was showing it to everyone and said he had never gotten one before. Well then, why doesn't he just call me???? Aarrgghh.. What do I have to do? OK, moving on... I had terrible cramps today and ended up taking a nap. I didn't get any exercise in between the job hunting, house and puppy stuff, and sleeping. I did however get plenty of leftover cake in! :hb: :o Again, moving on... Amarie: sounds like a nice evening. :) Nothing like company to get the house clean. Shop: glad you have an appointment. Good idea about the DVD's. Iris: I feel your pain. Right there with ya. Sassy: We finally had a nice day without rain too. I usually really like rain, but it's not as much fun if you are potty training puppies! :yikes: |
Francie -- yeah I know, I thought it was funny too, but whatever floats ones boat I guess. lol.
Jerzy -- Wow your one busy chick. Be sure to *Breathe* lol Hope -- yeah I can imagine potty training puppies in the rain defiitely not too fun. lol. About the job, have no idea why the guy doesn't just call ya. If he doesn't, well then its his loss! ;) Sigh.........only 6 hrs and 42 minutes left.........:p  |
Hey Everyone...
I think this is the first time I've posted in the chat thread...but I read through it alot...does that count? :) It has been a rough time for me lately but I am doing lots better. Not better with my weight right now...I have been exercising alot but eating alot as well I guess. I hate that! Yoga has been going well, meditation is coming along and I have finally gotten up the motivation to up my cardio again so here is hoping that works! Leenie! LOVE your avatar!!!! So cool! And coffee....my precious!!! (Just think Gollum from LOTR) Shop: I am so sorry about your Mom...I lost my FIL (he was my Dad in my heart) and it still hurts so much... Big hugs to you...hang in there... |
