New with Post Partum Depression

  • Hi. I am new. I live in MN with my DH, my daughter Emma (born 12/5/07) and our 2 Yorkies.

It is nice to 'meet' all of you. I hope to get to know you better.

I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with Post Partum depression. Which I think has affected my eating. Mostly I did not eat or sleep much for 3-4 weeks. I went from weighing 279 while pregnant to being 237. Now that I am starting to feel better I am getting my appetite back... which may not be such a great thing. I need to keep off the weight I have already lost and lose alot more!!!
  • Hi Margaritachic,

and congratulations on baby Emma. Emma is such a popular name these days. When I had my DD Grace a few years ago, hardly anyone had that name but now her name is getting popular too. I just love the old fashion names, they are so pretty.

I too had PPD.... and the same as you...no appetite, lost weight but then when I was feeling better, I gained the weight back..... Yes..be careful not to gain it back...and its hard b/c your up every few hours and tired, so its easy to grab food for energy (like I did).

We'd love for you to join us on the weekly thread here...its a small place but cozy

    hope to see you there.

    Leenie
  • welcome! Though, I am newer than you are I also had PPD after my first son. I had a hard time coming out of it, but was able to succeed through family support. I began exercising which helped immensely. Congrats on your little one and I look forward to reading more about you
  • Hi Margaritachic. I have had PPD after both of my pregnancies and still deal with it. My problem though is that i ate to much because i eat when any kind of emotion overwhelms me. I have and 8 month old and a 2 1/2 yr old. I have been trying different meds and still haven't found the one that works but i will keep trying.
  • hi there, i'm new, too!
My son just turned 3, and I still battle with it, but after some experimenting, i found one that works for me, zoloft. i also go to counseling which i recommend. it;s hard, but you are not alone!!! zoloft makes it a bit harder to lose the weight, but it's nice to feel like myself again.
