Great response Susie!
I agree with everything she said
I'm on Prozac, and it took about 2-3 weeks for it to really get into my system and start working. The first week was a little hard for me, kinda like I thought that once the pill went down my throat the depression would go away, and when it didn't I got a little more depressed than usual. I hope this won't happen to you, but if does, bear it out until your body can normalize the meds. It did get better
About week 3 I started noticing that I didn't want to just sit around doing nothing. For me, it started with cleaning my house

Then, I noticed my dog staring woefully at me and thought she might like a walk. Slowly but surely, I found that my activity level increased. I started taking vitamins regularly (why is it that depression seems to keep people from doing the little things like exercise and taking a vitamin that would actually help ease the depression) and walking my dog, and actually cooking healthy food, instead of popping whatever was frozen in the mic.
I don't know if I'm the same me I was before the depression took over - truth is I put off getting help for so many years I don't really have a clear memory of the me p.d. (pre-depresision). I am happier now with myself than I've been in a long time, and thats good enough for me.
I'm glad you are getting help

Make sure to ask your doc all the questions you have, thats what he/she is there for
