Default Lexapro Side Effects

I've been on wellbutrin 300 for about a month. Everything seems to be working ok except for i cry ALL the time. The Dr. added 10mg of lexapro. Took the first pill this morning and have pretty much felt like crap all day long. Nasea, dizzy. Do side effects show up that early or could I maybe be catching some sort of stomach bug. Should I not take it tomorrow to see what happens. I was able to work through the crappiness, but it really was crappy - have plans for the weekend so I don't want to mess those up.

Any thoughts?

it's surprising to see side effects that early... sounds like you're only talking a matter of a few hours. i'd suggest calling your pharmacist or dr. to check on how soon one might experience side effects. i didn't have anything like that when i started lexapro, but everyone reacts differently.

I have never been on Lexapro but on many other antidepressents. I have had side effects - especially stomach related - within hours of starting. It always amazes me how quickly the side effects start compared to how slowly the desired effects take place. Also, I have found any nausea is gone within a week or two.

I agree with Iris and would check with your pharmasist and continue the meds until you are advised, by your doctor, not to.

Good luck,

Redhead - I have been on 10mgs of Lexapro for about a year and a half now...I do remember some nausea and odd feelings in the head for about the first couple of weeks but it did not bother me enough to stop taking it ...give it a couple of weeks ( or less ) and it will go away. Good Luck!!!

I've had good results with Lexapro, and the only side effect I've had is drowsiness during the day. I hope your dosage works out for you

I'm currently on 10mg of Lexapro. I remember having those side effects when I first started - and it happened within hours - but it went away in about a week. I drank a lot of hot tea which warded off the nausea.

It's a great drug, and worth it to give it a while longer.

I"m on lexapro and wellbutrin together. The side effects are horrible, but they will go away. One day you will wake up and say " so this is how I'm suppose to feel". It takes time, but lexapro is great.

I also was getting really drowsy during the day so my dr told me to start taking it at night right before I went to bed and I have not had a problem since...and it doesnt bother my sleep at all either ...so you might want to try that

There are a great deal of serotonin receptors in the GI tract (stomach, intestines) which is why many people starting an antidepressent regimine using SSRI's have stomach issues during the first week or so (nausea, acid reflux feeling, diarrhea, etc...). These should subside within a week or two as your body adjusts to the medication.

I have found that if I start with 1/4 pill of Lex for the first few days, then move up to 1/2 pill over the next few days and so forth (until I'm at full dosage) that the stomach effects are MUCH less noticable.

The only side effects I've experienced while on the drug (not including the first few weeks or coming off of the drug) is a bit of additional sleepiness.

I have come 'off' of Lexapro twice and you should taper off the meds just like you tapered 'on' them. Coming off them I experienced some dizziness and a few very vivid dreams. These side effects lasted on and off for about a month until they went away completely.

I never noticed any weight gain or weight loss that I could attribute to being on Lexapro.
