Default I was on lexapro

I was on lexapro for about 18 months. I gained weight with it also and lost all inclination to exercise. I numbed by feelings which I really needed, but I also lost that great feeling you get when you have exercised hard and feel really great. My doctor cut my dosage and that seemed to help. I also found that going to a therapist when I was on a lower dosage helped too. I am just now getting back into exercised because I am not so tired. Don't get me wrong, lexapro did save my sanity at the time. Do you have any desire to exercise?

I was switched to Wellbutrin because of weight as well and I haven't lost any. I am however on a steroid which also makes me gain(a lot) so maybe it's because of the steroid that I haven't lost?!? I do feel somewhat better on Wellbutrin.

Talking

I am the poster child for taking meds and gaining/losing weight.
My weight first came on with Paxil, and once you stop taking it, the weight does not come off.
I have found that zoloft, prozac and paxil have been the worst for weight gain. My Dr. says that it is because it increases your appetite, but I don't know how much I believe that.
I was down to 133, then put on Prozac. I gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks and it kept going from there. Once I stopped taking it, it still didn't come off.
The only med that I have seen to help lose weight was Adderall. Its an ADHD med, but man it works!!
Lamictal and Equetro do NOT cause weight gain, but they are light mood stabilizers, so that may not be right for you.

My advice, if something is making you gain weight, get off now! Try something else, and excercise at the same time - it doesn't come off when you are done with it!!

I was taking both Prozac and Welbutrin XL but I got sick of it after being on meds for depression since I was 12 so almost 7 years and now I'm back to the no meds. It's hard as h*** let me tell you but it's better than being in that drugged daze and I find that as long as I exercise daily and keep myself surrounded with those who love me I do ok, still not the happy person people want me to be but I'm happy. Oh and laughter truly is the best medicine. So along with my new diet/lifestyle I have also been watching Leno every night right before bed and I'm a lot happier waking up the next morning as opposed to the nights when I don't. I know a lot of you are trying to stay away from TV but there are other ways of laughing too...

Thanks everyone!....Yes I have tried wellbutrin but I'm also on prozac because not only am I depressed but have very very high anxiety which causes headaches every day! So when I tried wellbutrin it made my headaches worse...I actually thougt about adderall but I feel I was have to order it online and it's so much of a hassle! lol
I also have no drive to excercise or work even.....I have dropped my dose to 10 mg rather than the 20 my doc had me on.......I am so scared to take anything else....since we react to meds in different way you can try one med and walk around in a daze for days while waiting to see if it works.....
