July Focus Challenge

OK, chicks, so this past weekend was great, and let's just admit right now that it probably wasn't OP. And that's OK. The point now is to get back OP, ASAP.

My Challenge to you this month is to get focused. We all need to take a deep breath and focus on what we need to be doing. We all *know* what to do, we just have to put our plan into action to make it work.

For me, this month is about exercise. I have to focus on movement, because eating is usually decent. Pick a focus for yourself, tell us what it is, and then do something about it.

Let's get focused!

StarAngel2528 07-06-2005 11:58 AM

Hey, thanks for starting a new challenge!
Hmm.. I think my focus is going to be... well, weight loss. :goodscale:
I would like to loss another 10lbs by the end of this month.
I want to get in at least 30 minutes of some sort of exercise everyday:workout:, no fast food :mcd:, watch portion control, limit going out to eat to once a week :cofdate:and I already set a july miles challenge of 60 miles:tread:. (Which I got in 4.1 miles yesterday) I also want to start exploring new veggies and fruit. :goodluck:

MsRD 07-06-2005 09:46 PM

Hello All!

Thank you for starting a new challenge.....and focusing is just what I need to do right now! For once, I am starting a month on an 'up'......water is good, but food and especially exercise are what I should be focusing on.

I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago.....just a checkup. I had a mammogram, which came back normal, and blood tests, all of which had 'excellent' results. This is all good, I know, but that does leave one challenge.....my weight. I am enjoying good health right now, but I feel that carrying around this extra weight could jeopardize my future health.....this has really hit home with me, so I am really motivated to get back on plan and lose lose lose!

Short term goal......I have been doing a 1-mile WATP, just to get back into exercising ....so now I have to bump it up to 2 miles......this week!

What about the rest of you? I know it is summer and there are eleventy-nine reasons not to play on the puter.....but you have to check in! We all need the support, the motivation, the tazer! No need to write an epistle every time....just check in, say hi, vent, shout Hallelujah!....it has become absolutely vital to have this lifeline!

Got to run.....and I mean that literally!

miss_elisha 07-07-2005 08:50 AM

Morning chicks. (Those of you that are here, anyway!)

Today is a sad day, and I must admit that I am a little scared right now. But I'll go into that in my journal, and there's no reason to get all emotional more than once this morning.

I did well yesterday, after my weekend of doing bad. Calories came in around 1730, and I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes of weights. I didn't get nearly enough water though--for some reason the water at my house just tasted funny yesterday.

Anyway, lots of work to catch up on. Have a safe day, chicks.
~Elisha

StarAngel2528 07-07-2005 12:17 PM

Geez, where is everyone?

Well, I got in 1.90 miles yesterday, not as much as I wanted to, but better than nothing. I didn't do too bad with eating yesterday, until I got off work.. I ate cheese fries  I can't stay away from them, they haunt me... I think about eating them all day, and then I give in!! NO MORE CHEESE FRIES!!! (at least for a week  ) I made rice for lunch and added vegtables.. i ate the greenbeans too.. It's not that I don't like them, I just don't really care for them.. I usually just eat around them.. but I made myself eat them.. ((((GREENBREANS ARE GOOD FOR YOU - GREENBEANS ARE GOOD FOR YOU))))

Welp, I better go to work (if you live in NJ and have Comcast Cable, DO NOT CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY!!!!!! :smug: Thank you!)

miss_elisha 07-08-2005 08:51 AM

Well, slow month for the Challenge chicks!

Anyway, hello hello!

Today I feel like crap. My tummy has been feeling a little icky all week, and today I have a full-fledged sore throat and cough, so I'm drinking hot tea at work instead of coffee or water.

I have so much to do and I don't feel like doing any of it. I don't even know how to do half of it. I got a bunch of projects dumped on me that I know very little about, but I guess I will have to learn.

I did pretty well at dinner last night: 1/2 steak salad (and it was still huge) with blue cheese dressing on the side, split an order of onion rings with Steve. Our realtor says that once we get the house under contract it should only take about 30 days to get closed on the house. I'm excited. I hope it doesn't take too long. 30 days would be perfect--that would put us in the house around the end of August (if it takes a week or two to get the contract, that is). Perfect barbeque weather!

Today is Pizza Hut day. My best friend got a promotion at work--she got my old job--so tomorrow we're going out to celebrate. Which reminds me, I need to find my other best friend a birthday present. Ugh. Today is payday and my money is already almost gone. It's getting a lot better though, and I do still have a bit of money to play with, so it's all good. I'm going to get us some salmon steaks for dinner--yum! I love salmon, it's my favorite!

And I am planning to exercise tonight--at least 20 minutes on the elliptical and/or stairclimber, but hopefully 30, and 15 minutes of weights. AT LEAST. I've got to exercise. I've GOT to.

Anyway, I need to get started on something. Have a great day, chicks.

Mudlucious 07-08-2005 04:24 PM

Hi everyone.

I know I've been MIA lately, and probably won't be checking in much this month. I'm going to try to spend as much of my days this month moving about. and since I finally got my pedometer today ( I already logged 1 mile on it doing housework today) I can really get my butt in gear. I can now keep track of how much I actually move about. yay.

hikein2005 07-08-2005 05:47 PM

I Know, I Know...

I said I was not going to post, but you all seem so PATHETIC!!! So I just had to...and I felt guilty about reading, but not posting, so here I am!

I have to fill you all in on my physical therapy anyway!!! ;) I had the PT eval on Tuesday and then my first treatment yesterday. They gave me a bunch of home exercises to do to...strengthen my abs and gluts. Then yesterday, the PT did a bunch of manipulation to align my spine and pelvis...apparently this is the cause for much of my pain! Then she did some myofascia release on my left leg (very tight due to the plantar fascitis) and back. I was a little sore today in areas that she really did some deep tissue stuff. The place that I am going focuses on the energy fields of the body (interesting, huh?) and trying to release much of the negative energy and help heal the areas with pain! It's a concept I can live with and I really don't feel too bad today. My foot is still a problem and I asked them about treating that, but I need to call my Dr. first to have her phone in a referral (seems they could just do that for me...my doc will authorize anything!) and they may treat that somehow! It seems to be getting worse, which does not make me happy! :(

I'm still planning on going on my trip. My sister and I have been talking about it and I decided that we would just do it! If I can't hike, I will stay behind and she can hike or whatever! It will be fun to hang out with her, anyway...for a whole week! She made her flight reservations last night, so no backing out now...unless we just hang out here and not go hiking! ;) Guess I had better at least try to do some hiking this weekend and start walking with Leslie and MsRD every morning, huh? I can get in a mile or two every morning when my foot doesn't hurt too bad! Maybe I can even get up to 3 miles by the time I go! That would be good since the smallest hike is 4 miles!!!!!! :D

As far as food goes, I am not really doing anything except making sure I drink plenty of water. I did have a really tasty salad last night with lettuce from my garden! YUMMY! But I went and got ice cream later...oh well!

Elisha, Mud, Jessica, & MsRD...sounds like you all need us to be here, so I will check in once in a while just to let you know my progress or lack of it!! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hugs to all!

MsRD 07-09-2005 08:52 AM

Happy Saturday!

Sorry for not posting......we have been inputting all the data entry for our physical inventory at work..:comp:..a brainless tedious job....yuck! To balance that part of my day, I have spent the after hours time in the garden.....weeding, weeding, weeding.....it improves the look of the garden and also improves my mental outlook at the same time!

Jennifer....I know you are busy building your house, and this new hurricane probably isn't helping things. Please pop in and let us know you are safe, k?

Elisha.....I do hope you are feeling better. I hate summer colds....they seem to last forever. Got my fingers crossed on the house deal too.....it will be soooo nice to have a place of your own! And as for the salmon......you gonna have any extra? We could all stop by, bring a dish to pass and a lawn chair? :hungry:

StarAngel.....I'm with you on the green beans! They are not my favorite either. My folks used to have a HUGE garden with rows and rows of green beans......we had fresh and canned enough for the winter and invited the neighborhood in to pick all they wanted. Seems like I spent my whole summer picking those dratted beans......I used to pray for an early frost, so the plants would all die

Mud.....great to hear from you, chickie! I think all of us are spending time away from the puter....this weather is just too good to stay inside! Please check in with us and update us with your mileage!

Julie.....HA! The 'pathetic' ploy worked! You are hooked for another month! ;) So glad you had a good PT appointment.....sounds like you are on the right track! I think it is a good idea that you follow thru on the hiking trip. :dancer: Even if you can't go the miles you had hoped for, at least it will be a vacation and a break from routine. (Maybe just the thing to get the mojo working?)

Joy......hope you are having a great day! :sunny:

Mary......haven't heard from you recently! I know you are lurking, so stop in and say hi!

Today, there are errands to run and the house to tidy....and more weeds beckoning from the garden.

StarAngel2528 07-09-2005 11:48 AM

Just a quickie...

As for miles - I got 1.22 miles on Thursday and 3.1 miles Friday.
Eating - mmm.. lets just say.. i got my "Eating out once a week" in for the week
Exercise - I didn't do to well thursday.. if you couldn't tell.. and Friday was alright.

I havent been feeling to well the past couple of days.. so I've missed a little work.. so this week is going to be hectic.. I need to make up some hours.. so my paycheck isn't horrible and I can pay my bills.. Plus I need to focus on finding a new job, cuz the company I work for.. well, sucks. I was planning on starting Curves this week.. but I think, once again, I'm gonna hold off on it. Well, I g2g. I'll b back Monday. Bye chickies.

Mudlucious 07-09-2005 02:39 PM

Just a quick note to let you know I love my pedometer. I first put it on at around 12;30 pm yesterday and by the time I went to bed I logged 15,011 steps traslating to around 6 miles and 1400 calories burned! I was so proud of myself.

The weather here is awful today. Its too hot to do anything outside. I will be so happy when we move next year to a cooler climate. yay.

JoyG56 07-09-2005 08:34 PM

Well, here I am. That's it.

I've gotta start getting back in the right direction cuz lately I've been on a full slide. So that is my challenge. Total turn-about.

It was easy to get off track when I wasn't posting. And without my message in the my email box to check in (because a new thread started) it was easy to think that everyone had stopped. No fears now... cuz I'll be once again watching the thread.

hikein2005 07-09-2005 08:43 PM

I hiked today!!!

Yea me! :cheer:

I thought I would try to start back out slow and did about 1.5 miles at the state park. There were a few small hills up and down...one quite steep hill which really took my breath away, so that tells me I am sooooooo not in shape for this hiking in a month. I'd better get cracking! It was enjoyable too except for the darned bees and mosquitos that wanted to attack me! I will make sure I remember to take some repellent next time! I am not going to have any time for hikes this week as I have VBS (vacation bible school) after work each day and it starts tomorrow. I'm going to try to get in 3-4 2 miles with Leslie this week before work though. Just gotta get myself up in the morning. It's also supposed to get up into the 90's with high humidity by Tuesday this week, so I know I will not be of any use for a hike outdoors!

Here's the problem...the foot really hurts in the morning first thing, even with the stretching I do...and the back and foot really hurts by the end of the day! So.....I need to figure something out because this chick has GOT to get going. I will take some suggestions from any of you who care to dole it out right now because I'm stumped! I am so not going to give up this time...no way, uh uh!!!

I have been really thinking about the whole weight loss thing lately. I can't seem to figure out what is "blocking" me from having the desire to really get motivated. I know the things I need to eat and most of the time I do eat fairly healthy, but it's the things that I so automatically don't think about (like ice cream, etc.) that just about kill me! I need to be more conscious of that kind of thing...but then sometimes...I just don't care! <sigh!>

Well, chickies...hope all are having a great weekend! Just letting you know how I am!

Hugs toa ll!

miss_elisha 07-10-2005 11:20 AM

Morning chicks! And Happy Weekend! It's great to see all of you chicks here!

This weekend is going ok for me so far. Food/calories have been good, and the scale is slowly inching downward. 206.8 this morning, and I even had alcohol last night, which usually makes my weight go up for at least a day, so all is well. Water could be better, and there hasn't been any exercise to speak of, but both of those things are because I feel like crap--full fledged cold now. Bleh. Add that to not enough sleep and not enough fluids, and it's just crap. But I did buy lots of fruits and veggies, and I've been eating them. Had my salmon for dinner last night, and boy was it yummy! Tonight I'm making meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and broccoli (I think), but I'll try to make it healthy one way or another.

On a more positive note, we found my cat. She's been gone for almost 2 weeks and I honestly didn't think we'd ever see her again. We found her in the tool shed yesterday morning. Her cast, which was meant to come off Friday of last week, was all gross and stinky and rubbing her leg raw, so we took it off, and now her leg is gross. She's going to the vet tomorrow morning. Poor kitty! She doesn't seem to be in any pain though, and she's very glad to be home and acting all lovey (which is odd for this one). I'm just so glad she's safe!

Steve and I are staying home today, perhaps a bit of light cleaning, a dip in the pool, not much else. Maybe some exercise, if I get to the point where I can breathe well enough. Vegetables for lunch! And fruit!

OK, Elisha, enough rambling. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
~Elisha

Mudlucious 07-10-2005 02:23 PM

I've decided my focus for the rest of the month is to burn more calories than i consume daily.

MsRD 07-10-2005 08:30 PM

Hi!

I weighed in this morning, but I didn't like the number, so I'm not going to write it down. So there! Actually, I had 2 polish sausage dogs yesterday and a hot dog today....so with all the salt, i think the scale number is artificially inflated.....give me till Wednesday, guzzling water, and I will gather up my courage and weigh again.

Mud......you are really giving the pedometer a workout! six miles! you are really inspiring us!

Joy....We are all going to get ourselves back on track this month. We know what to do! We know how to do it! And we will!

Julie.....I am really befuddled at what to tell you about exercising, given your foot and back problems. Has the PT given you any options, other than exercises to strengthen above-mentioned achy parts? Hmmm.....maybe some kind of exercise that is not weight-bearing, but moves all the right parts? a recumbent bike? elliptical trainer? Grasping at straws here......

Elisha.....So glad to hear the kitty is home. The vet will put everything right tomorrow and maybe kitty won't stray again! Our cats always put the resident dog in line with a couple swift claw smacks to the offending dog nose......that always re-aligned the chain of command!

Got to get the laundry done for the week.......it's going to be a busy one!

hikein2005 07-11-2005 06:33 AM

I'm Here!

Good Morning chickies!

Thanks for the feedback MsRD...I'm going to go try the bike this morning. I need to get going, but my body doesn't want to!

I went to bed at 9pm last night, so I was up early this morning! I was exhausted. We had VBS yesterday afternoon and it was hot and I was whipped with all of that and housework .... I'm just whining! Sorry! I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through this week with work all day and then VBS at the end of the day...and it's supposed to be HOT, HOT, HOT. Of course I am in charge of games...OUTSIDE!!! I'm bring a huge thing of water with me!

Elisha...Glad the kitty is home safe and sound! I had a cat run away when I was about 10. We had gone on vacation and came home to no cat. I went out and called her one night and swore Isaw her, but she didnt' come to me. I never knew what happened to her. She was MY kitty too (with 7 kids, I didn't ever really have anything that belonged to just me) so I was very sad! No one beleived that I saw her!

Mud...you crack me up! Great focus!!! LOLOL!!!

Joy...Glad you are back! We need you!!!! :)

Well, the good news about yesterday was that I didn't have any icecream after supper! I was just too tired and it didn't wound good!! WHAT??? Did I say that??? I didn't eat splendidly, but no icecream was a good start. I started taking a mulit vitamin...boy I had forgotten how it can turn the urine yellow!!!! ;) I haven't noticed any change other than that, yet...but I'm hoping to get a little boost here soon!

I did not exercise yesterday, but the workout with the kids at VBS in the heat had to count for something! ;)

I'm going to go try the bike...wish me luck!

Hugs!

miss_elisha 07-11-2005 08:32 AM

Morning chicks!

Ugh. I feel icky today. The congestion that was in my throat and chest yesterday is now in my head. My head feel so heavy I think I might just fall over. Good thing I've got a chair with arm rests!

The scale is at 206.6 this morning, which kind of surprised me. I don't remember what calories came in at last night, but I know it was a little high, not because I ate a lot, just because everything I ate (well, breakfast and dinner, wasn't really hungry at lunch so I had some cauliflower with ranch) was high calorie. Today is turning out to be more of the same--leftovers for breakfast and lunch. But I'm planning to go home and mow the lawn tonight before it starts raining for the week, so there's will be exercise to balance out the overage of calories.

Anyway, lots of work to do, but I'll be back later to finish saying what I have to say. Have a great day, chicks!
~Elisha

miss_elisha 07-11-2005 11:16 AM

OK, where was I?

The kitty's leg is still gross, but less so now that she's cleaned it up a bit. Apparently the swelling and sores are par for the course with casts (I have no experience whatsoever with casts, how was I to know?). The vet is in Cleveland for the week, but we've been instructed to keep her leg clean and use Neosporin if I felt like it and just let her heal, and if she's not better next week then we take her in. I'm just glad she's home.

Bleh, it's not quite 11 yet and already I'm hungry. That's what I get for overloading on carbs at breakfast! I know better! I brought healthy snacks with me today though, so I should be ok.

I'm just plain exhausted, and I know it's from being sick. I don't know what's up with me--I hardly ever get sick, and now it's like just when I'm getting better some new illness pops up. This is not fun. I need to go buy some new vitamins. I ran out a few weeks ago and haven't replaced them. I need to look at my DietPower reports to see if I'm low on intake of any other vitamins/minerals. I think I've been low on iron, because I've been getting really dizzy lately. That's not uncommon for me (I have vertigo), but recently it's been the grab-onto-something-before-I-fall-over, I-can't-see-because-my-head-is-buzzing kind of dizzy, and that is never a good sign. More red meat. Or something. I'll check it out when I get home, and I'm sending myself an email so I don't forget.

On a more positive note, Steve is putting in a deposit on our house tonight. I wasn't really excited about this house, but the more I think about it and the closer it gets to being ours, the more excited I am. I still have no idea what I want to do with the bedrooms, but I'll figure it out. I've got time.

And now.... comments!!!

Julie... Glad to see you here, chickie. ;) I don't know what to tell you about the foot/back exercise issues. I would suggest water aerobics if it's a possibility--great workout, and time in a pool. If nothing else, hop in Kaleigh's pool and do some leg swings or something. Something is better than nothing, right? And Woohoo! on the no ice cream! I had the same reaction to guacamole yesterday (and you know how I *love* guacamole!)--I made some with lunch, took about 2 bites and I just did not want it al all. But I guess that's a good thing.

MsRD... You know we don't care about numbers unless they're negative! You don't have to write anything down, you know how you're doing. Drink up and flush out the system and those salt pounds will be gone in no time.

Mud... I think that's something we ALL need to focus on. I know I certainly do. Way to go with the pedometer miles! *sigh* I remember those high-mile days... no more! I've got a desk job now! But at least one of us is getting in the steps!

Jessica... Keep up the good work with all the exercise! It's hard when we're just trying to get to work to make ends meet, but just think, the extra effort now makes things easier in the future, right? Right. That's what I keep telling myself. ;)

Joy... Good to see you chick! Posting always helps keep me on track (or get me back on track, whatever the case may be), so stick around!

Did I miss anyone? I don't think so, but if I did, sorry! Ugh, my head hurts from all that thinking! Haha, I'd better get back to work now.

Oy, I'm a little loopy today. Have a good Monday, chicks.
~Elisha

StarAngel2528 07-11-2005 12:04 PM

Hey!

Blah, this weekend has went by WAY to fast... Saturday I went in to work 2 1/2 hours early to get some overtime.. so I pretty much worked all day. Jesse and one of his friends worked on our house.. they got most of the framing done so the electric can be done hopefully one day this week. So I need to work on cleaning up where some of the old drywall got torn out.. Yippee (not) Sunday, I slept will 11, then went back to sleep til 1.. Went to the mall and about 2 new pairs of size 16 pants! There was so much clothes I wanted to buy, cause they were XL's and 16's.. but I controlled myself and said NO, so I just bought the 2 pairs of pants, cause I REALLY need them. The pair of Jeans that I'm wearing in the pics on my Journal, literally fell off of me the other day, while running through the parking lot at work, thankfully no one was around.. and if they were, they didn't laugh tooo loud!

I did get in 2.62 miles yesterday.. I actually had more than that, but I lost my pedometer when I got home from the mall (it catchs my seatbelt and falls off) Jesse took me miniture golfing last night, It was fun! We've been saying we want to go since last spring.. There isn't much to do around here besides eating, shopping, movies or going to bars, so it was different.

I bought some SpecialK the other day.. It doesn't have to much taste, but I can tolerate it... I'm going to try it. I need to get back on track, I've been eating a lot of cheese fries and ice cream lately.

I need to make a few little goals for the week -
- No Cheese fries!
- No Ice Cream
- get in 10,000 steps a day
- Do not snack on candy at desk (take a little bag of specialK)
- get in 40 hours at work
- Put in some Job applications
- Do weight training 3 days
- Ablounge, W&JATP's and 15 mins Yourself!Fitness everyday!

NO EXCEPTIONS

StarAngel2528 07-11-2005 12:12 PM

Oh yea! I almost forgot.. I weighed in on Friday. I'm down 1 more pound! YAY!

MsRD 07-11-2005 08:21 PM

Hello!

It has been a stressful couple of days.....but I want to report that I did not let it dictate what went into my mouth! Don't know how I managed that......usually I am up to my elbow in the cooky jar at the mere hint of upheaval in my life! Things are back to normal now.....and I only hope I can figure out :chin: how I managed cooky control so I am ready for next time!

Julie....Ah yes, VBS! I have taught VBS a few time in the past.....one of those experiences that you look back on and think of the fun (but don't realize it at the time!) Talk about control........no ice cream after supper?!! :bravo: Good job!

Elisha.....Take care of yourself, chickie. Keep those healthy snacks and vitamins going......and guzzle that water to help you feel better!

StarAngel.....There is a Chickie Rule.....anytime your pants are so loose they fall down,:o you don't have to weigh yourself that day! You are doing a fabulous job! If the Special K is kind of bland, try adding some fresh fruit to it....mmmmmm, I had strawberries on my cereal this morning.

Food today was great.....only 1000 calories, so maybe I will splurge on a little (healthy) treat tonight. Water hasn't been so good....maybe 40-oz so far.....but the night is still young. ;)

JoyG56 07-12-2005 12:59 AM

Just a quickie before bed.... today was a good day as far as exercise and water goes.... the food is still a little out of control, but I'm hoping that if I keep up with my exercise regime (run/walk in the park after work three days a week and WATPx2 the other days) that the food will fall into place. Gotta get to bed .. up at 4am with Leslie tomorrow.

Good going everyone (I accidentally typed "god going" before I fixed it... but I guess he's helping too. ) That would be a fruedian slip me thinks..... or devine intervention ....

Sweet dreams everyone.

Hugs
Joy

miss_elisha 07-12-2005 09:24 AM

Morning chicks!

I typed a longer post a few minutes ago, but our internet went down and I lost it! Grrr...

Anyway, calories were good yesterday, because I only had cauliflower with ranch for "dinner," then I fell asleep! So the lawn did not get mown. Oh well.

Calories today are going to be a bit high, I suspect, because I'm having leftover meatloaf and mashed potatoes for lunch, and too much cereal for breakfast (there was just a little left in the box, so I had to finish it--you know how it is, not enough for another bowl). But it's healthy food today, so I'm not too torn up about it.

There as been some weird stuff going on with my body the past few days, and I'm a little worried. I'm not going to go into details, because I'm probably just tired and stressed and wreaking havoc on my immune system, but if it turns out to be anything noteworthy I'll let you know. Heck, I'll probably let you know even if it isn't anything noteworthy. I don't feel well, the cold is still here. I have a meeting in a few minutes, and a lot of work to do today. One of the directors--the leader for the big project I'm now in charge of--is coming to our office tomorrow and I have to meet with him. I need to talk to a few other people today to figure stuff out so I can hopefully get stuff done. Ugh. I don't feel like being here today.

OK, meeting time, have a good day, chicks.
~Elisha

MsRD 07-12-2005 08:49 PM

Hello All!

The puter doesn't like me tonight, as my last message was shot into cyberspace......so am going to keep this short. I PM'd Jennifer to see if she was okay after Hurricane Dennis.......this is her reply.....

We're ok- got 2 days of horrible weather, and MIL was in a very bad car accident last Thursday. Been dealing with that, and then the death of my Uncle the Sunday after that. Been just nutso, with no end in sight. Tonight was the first time I got to 3FC in about 3 weeks, at least.

Missing everyone- please send my best, and if you want to fill everyone in, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for checking on me! ((((( MsRD!!!))))

Okay day 2

Gotta go watch Canadian Idol.... just wanted to check in and let you know food was good today, water was okay and I got up and did 2 miles with Leslie this morning.

Morning chicks!

Joy, Way to go on the WATP!

MsRD, thanks for passing along Jennifer's PM. We're glad to hear she's safe.

Everyone else, get your butts in here!

Yesterday was ok for me, but not fabulous. Calories were just a little over budget, but I don't remember exactly what. I had some in the bank though, so it's all good. No exercise. I am going to exercise tonight! Period! No one else will be home for dinner, so I don't really have to worry about cooking.

Steve is signing the contract for our house tonight! We've finally agreed on a price, so things should be moving along now. Hopefully we'll be in at the end of August, beginning of September. We'll have to go in and fix one pipe, but that's no problem.

Kitty is doing much better today. She hopped up on my bed to cuddle this morning. The swelling has gone down, and she's walking tenderly on her leg a little, so that is improvement as well. Good good. I am a happy girl.

Anyway, work today, and lots of it. The marketing director brought in donuts. I will NOT go in the kitchen.

OK, have a good one, chicks.

Good Afternoon Chickies,

Not to much to say.. I got in 9.56 miles in the past two days, so that's good. Eating has been okay, besides that small ice cream I had last night.. It was a small tho!! Weigh-in's tomorrow, TTOM is coming soon so, I'm not expecting much, if anything.

Does anyone listen to Techno music? well, I don't.. not usually.. but It really pumps you up! I found one of my brother's Car show CD's.. the one's they use to show off their systems... It has a lot Techno on it, because of the fast pace bass in the music.. I listened to it today while I worked out. It made the time go by faster.. and made me move faster.. it is so upbeat. I would suggest to download some and listen to it next time you work out!

Welp, I'm off to turn in some applications and head to work. Later.

lisa girl 07-13-2005 08:59 PM

YOOHOO.......I'M BACK!!

Yay..what a lovely vacation we had- one of the best ones ever! We camped for almost 2 weeks. We went to Cloudland Canyon (In GA)..oh, it was so pretty..we hiked down the canyon to the most beautiful waterfall!! Then, we went on into Cosby, TN to camp, and went to Dollywood, and then went to the Lost Sea in TN (which I highly recommend...it was majorly cool!).

I have missed you all, and I have had withdrawal without my internet and 3FC! My eating was good while I was gone, and I got a LOT of exercise, and I am going to weigh in tomorrow. I am just hoping to maintain really...I don't really know what to expect. We'll see...

Alright! I want to Comment!!

Jessica - Yes, I like techno music..it is GREAT to exercise to! DH makes fun of me sometimes about it..but I don't care!

Elisha - Thank you for starting the new challenge! And, I am so glad you finally found your cat- I know you must have been so worried about her. Sounds like you found a house- how excited you must feel :).

Joy - Hi there! Still counting WW points? Can we still be "buddies" with that?? :)

Julie - Well, I have read over the posts, and did you once mention you would not be posting??? Nope. Not an option!! You get your butt on here an post, and that is an order (from a friend that dearly loves you!!!). How is your back and foot? I hope you are getting some relief. Please IM me if you get a chance.

Donna- How are you doing? All recovered after surgery? I would LOVE to hear from you! I'll try to IM you too!!

MsRD - Hope you are doing well!!! Still maintaining cookie control?? LOL! For some reason those Little Debbie cookies keep calling me- do you like those things?? Goodness..just love those raisin creme pies!! :)

Well, did you girls ever get a chat going over the weekend of the 4th? I wondered about that. Are you still interested in doing that?? Can you see I am desperate for adult conversation??? LOLOL!!! Somebody PLEASE TALK TO ME!! :)

Well...a MOUNTAIN (seriously!!) of laundry awaits me.....gotta go. Hope you all have a FANTASTIC kind of evening!!!!

miss_elisha 07-14-2005 09:11 AM

Morning ladies!

Yesterday was a good day, and today is starting out well too. Calories came in at 1886, which is a little high, but I'm not too concerned. Water was good, and I even exercised! 10 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes stairclimber (because Steve wanted to use the elliptical), 15 minutes weight machines, and about 10 minutes yoga. I'll add that to my signature when I'm done posting.

Lisa, welcome back! We missed you! Your vacation sounds so nice! Can I come with you on the next trip?!

Jessica, I listen to techno music for exercise too! The fast beat really helps to keep me moving. Dance mixes are good too, and house. Steve makes fun of me too, but hey, whatever works.

The kitty is doing good, but I think she's feeling neglected. Which is ridiculous, because I spend every moment I can with her. Speaking of cats, did I tell you about that random cat that was in my house a few weeks ago? Well, he was back again this morning. He ran out as soon as I opened the door to let our other cat in, but it's just weird. And I think he scratched Camilla's nose! Stupid weird cat!

Anyway, my mind is feeling a bit random today, so I'm going to stop blathering. Have a great day chicks!

:goodscale Good Scale, Very good Scale! I'm down three more pounds this week! I'm so excited!!! YAY!

4.95 miles yesterday.

MsRD 07-14-2005 09:09 PM

hello!

Just got in from watering the garden.....it has been miserably hot here and we just keep pouring water on the gardens to keep them alive!

Elisha.....Steve signed the papers on the house? You must be deliriously happy.....there will be so much for you to do......and even though it is work, it is also fun because it is your own place! So glad to hear good news on the kitty......go ahead and spoil her!

Jessica......down three pounds! You are doing so well. Great job!

Lisa.....Welcome back from vacation! It sounds like you had the most wonderful time.....sorry about the laundry situation. Reality sucks.

I got 75 ounces of water in today......not hard to do when it is this hot! Eating was ok...haven't counted up the calories, but they should be all right. Now, if I could just get out of this chair and exercise.......

lisa girl 07-14-2005 10:51 PM

Hi girls!

Well, I did weigh this morning, and I lost like 1/2 of a pound over the past couple of weeks..I would have thought more than that. I am going down in sizes though...pretty fast..it's odd..DH is on my case BIG TIME and thinks I am losing weight too fast...I wonder what is up with me??? Just had a physical, and I am doing well, just a slightly elevated cholesterol. Hmmm.........I have upped my water big time, and I am eating totally differently than I ever have. I am not doing fast food, and only eating whole foods, and lots of fiber and veggies. I am air popping my pop corn, and I am having very little sodium. It's a good thing..somehow I have managed to stick with this and I am feeling so much better.

I had a good day today!! I really did! Yay for good days!! God knows we need them.

Elisha - Can you tell us a little about your house- what's it like? Maybe I missed this while I was out of town. I know you are so excited!!!

Jessica - WTG with the loss!!!!!!! Hooray!!! Just gets you all pumped up and excited..I love that feeling!

MsRD - Good job with the water! Is your garden big? My FIL, who lives next door, has a garden, and it is really doing well. I love fresh corn, and now he has okra in too! Yum! Oh, and also he is growing canteloupe..which my DH loves (and I hate)..but oh well..you know there's just nothing like fresh veggies!

Joy - How goes it with you?? Hope you are doing terrific!! :)

Julie - Miss your posts :(. Hope you are doing great, and hope you had a good day! When's your next camping trip? We are already scheduling our Fall camping trip...I love the pretty leaves that time of year, you know?

Donna - Hi to you! HOpe you are feeling well! How's the weather up your way? It is still raining on and off here...

Well, have a good evening everyone! Blessings to you all....

JoyG56 07-15-2005 12:00 AM

Hi Everybody,

The new regime is going pretty well - the food part needs a little work... but it will come. No exercise today - I was going to mow the lawn ... but... my "good" lawn mower is ready for pick up tomorrow - and it does a 30" pass each time... so I decided to wait til tomorrow and save some time... lazy setting in too I guess. Water is going pretty well.

I've been really busy at work - a little stessful for me cuz I'm filling in for a position I hope to get next month - we are short staffed and I'm not getting it all done.... :stress:

Yesterday was was reading posts advertised on 3FC home page as recent posts and came across a 12 week challenge.... I've posted a new thread to begin the 1st of August... hope to see you all there.

Anyways gotta go and journal.... and YES Lisa... I must start counting my points with you... that would get my food on track PRONTO.

Hugs,
Joy

I'm Here!

Hi everyone..
Sorry I haven't posted much this week. I've had VBS every night right after work, so no time to check posts. We went until 8 every night...so get home, put DD to bed and I usually veg for a few minutes then I go to bed! Phew! I am tired!

Not much to report this week. I will post a longer post later to tell you about my PT appts. I fell the other night at VBS, so that didn't help! I have a huge bruise on my left breast, of all places! :o OK, well...it's not HUGE, but it's a bruise and it is sore!

I have not been eating terribly this week, but does not eating much at all count? Yesterday I had a ham & cheese roll up nuked for b-fast. Lunch was Chinese (veggies & chicken) and for supper a pop tart! I wasn't hungry for anything. Then after VBS, I treated DD and our babysitter (who went with us all week and loved it) to ice cream and had a cone myself! Probably could have skipped that, but...I didn't! I've not been getting near enough water in these days, but it seems like I am guzzling all the time. Little drinks from the fountain at work, a sip or two from the bottle on my desk...it all adds up, but I'm thirsty every morning!

I am fine, though...really! My heel still hurts like a son of a gun. PT worked on it yesterday a bit and it really didn't hurt all day until late last night after VBS (I had been on my feet all day).

I've got to run...gotta get in the shower and get ready for work! I'm impressed with how well you are all doing this summer! It's sooooo hot here and the thought of hiking this weekend...it's out of the question! I'm staying inside or going to the beach! It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the mega humidity! You can about wring yourself out when you hit the door!!! UGH!

Have a great day for your selves, ladies! Miss you all...I'll be back on this weekend and next week, hopefully on a more regular basis!

Hugs!

miss_elisha 07-15-2005 09:09 AM

Morning chicks!

Calories were not so good yesterday. Well, it would have been fine, but Mom pulled out a French silk pie after dinner last night, and I was SOOO craving chocolate, so I had a little slice. And that little slice was an astounding 480 calories! :yikes: Luckily I was still under for the day (before the pie) and had a bunch of points "in the bank," so it's ok. I still have over 400 calories in the bank. But I used them at breakfast--Steve took me to Hardee's! And it's Pizza Hut day!

And I sure paid for it on the scale this morning: 207.4. I'm not going to let it get me down though. I'm working out tonight! No excuses! I'll come post after I do. I was planning to exercise last night, but it was almost 10 by the time we finished dinner! But we had a lounging type of meal, meaning that there was more talking than eating, so it took us a while. And there were a few courses--salad, then our side dish (pasta), then grilled pork chops, then fruit, then pie--so that's why it was so late. But it was good. My mom finally quit her job, which she's hated for a long time already, so she's been in a really good mood the past few days. She's going to really enjoy being home with her family for a while, and helping me move and decorate.

Which reminds me.... Lisa asked about my house!
I'll post pictures when I get some, honest! I've really got to start getting my film developed!
It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath Cape Cod (at least I think it's a Cape Cod, could be wrong about that--not to good with style names), stone exterior, stone patio, full walk-out basement, large kitchen. It's in a pretty good neighborhood, and it right next to one of my best friends. The realtor says we should be in by the end of August. And if anyone has any decorating ideas for the bedrooms, I'm all ears, because I'm stumped!

Mom and I are going out shopping tomorrow. We have a new shopping center nearby that been there for a few months and she hasn't been there yet. There's a Target, a Barnes & Noble, and 2 Starbucks (one in both Target and B&N), and they're all firts in the vicinity, and she's never been to any of those stores. I'm buying her some Starbucks! And she wants to go to Barnes & Noble at midnight tonight--they're having a Harry Potter party with real owls flying around! How cool is that?! I don't know if we'll go or not, because I sort of doubt that Mom will be awake at midnight, but I'm willing to go with her if she really wants to go.

OK, I need to start doing work. Have a great day, chicks!
~Elisha

Our House!

OK, so I found a picture of our house!
But I can't figure out how to paste it in here, so you're all just going to have to click this link and see my pretty face as well!

Good Morning!!!!

Elisha - Your house is so neat...really charming, and I LOVE the rock! My DH and I both love rock on houses..you are SO LUCKY to have found such a pretty one. I am thinking you could get a lot of decorating stuff at Target. They have the neatest stuff, and affordable too...I got the prettiest curtains there for my kitchen. They have pretty comforter sets and stuff for your bedroom too. Well... if you want me to, I will just come over and help you go shopping!!! LOL!!!

Julie - I was thinking that up North the humidity wasn't as bad as we have it here in the South. I don't know why I was thinking that. Maybe I was thinking about the Midwest..Our humidity here is just so sticky and yucky. My curly hair...is getting BIGGER AND BIGGER...LOL! I have spent a small fortune in "products" to try to tame it down some in this weather!! Is Kaleigh just loving VBS? It was one of my favorite things as a child. We missed it this summer, because of vacation, and it makes me sad. But, really, VBS will tire a person out like nothing else can!!! Hope your heel does better today..good that it felt good most of the day yesterday at least.

Joy - Well today is the big day, right?? The day when you pick up your new mower! We finally got a new one, and we are thrilled. Never thought I would see the day when a lawnmower would thrill me!! LOL! I am so glad you will be doing points with me! BTW, where is it that you are posting a new thread?

MsRD - Hello :) ! Hope you are well and having a great day!!!!

Jessica - Can't wait to hear how many miles you got in! You're doing so good..on a ROLL!! Yay!!!

Donna, Jennifer- I miss you two, and I hope life is treating you good, and you are having a good Summer!!!

Well, I weighed again and I AM down 3 more pounds..I thought I was down more than that measly 1/2 pound! I am 6 pounds away from my goal...I can just taste it!! :) I am so proud, and I am thrilled to finally have almost lost the 75 pounds of weight that I gained with my third child. I weighed in at around 210 or so the day I had him. I look at the pictures, and I can't believe it. It has not been easy to lose this weight. Well..we all know that. But, this is usually the point where I start backsliding...when I get so close....(Keeps fingers crossed)...I can to this- I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all have a good day!!!!

StarAngel2528 07-15-2005 10:46 AM

Hey elisha, the house looks familiar, is it on the East Side of town? maybe up behind the Dairy Mart? Not Sure.

Not much to post about today... I'm going into work to get some over time for awhile, then going to Old Navy to get a couple more pairs of pants and I have to pick up some cloths for Ethan and they have tons of baby stuff on sale right now. Then I have to go to lowes and pick out kitchen cabinets and a bathroom sink.. I'm can't wait til this house is done. I'm so sick of waiting on it. It's been so long, I'm not even excited anymore.

Well, enough complaining.. I got to get moving. Later

2.34 miles yesterday

miss_elisha 07-15-2005 11:00 AM

Lisa, I already know that most of my decor is going to come from Target! They have such cute stuff that is still tasteful and affordable! It's great!

Jessica, there are about a billion houses in Fairmont that look just like it. Everyone I've shown it to says it looks familiar. It's actually on West Side, behind the Subaru dealer on Locust Ave. Kind of hard to find (unless you're looking for it), so it's doubtful that anyone has seen *that* particular house, but it was a pretty popular style of home mid-century in Fairmont.
