Evening chicks!

Monday, Monday...

What to say about today? Well, food today was better than yesterday. Still working on the water. No exercise, but I spent that time studying instead, and my math skills are coming back to me, at least a little, so I'm not feeling too guilty. My pedometer currently reads 5.42 miles, but it won't get much more than that. A little, but not much. I need to study one more chapter tonight, then I'm calling it quits for the evening.

I actually get to sleep in a little tomorrow, as I actually have a late shift at work. I've had early shifts all weekend, and not enough sleep, so this is a very good thing. And I'm going to try to make it to bed rather early tonight so as to take full advantage of the sleeping time. :D

Yeah, and now my brain has stopped, so I guess it's bedtime now. I will do that other chapter later, perhaps in the morning, or at lunch tomorrow. In any case, have a great night, chicks

Hi everyone

It's great to read that everyone is doing well.

Hikein - what a beautiful girl you have.
Ms Elisha- your "trying again every day" kinda hit home today.

I've been staying OP about half the time and not getting much exercise, so I haven't "shown my face" lately, but I fully intend to get back on my horse (and ride) tomorrow.

It's great to hear all of you getting your holiday plans together. I guess I should start too.... We don't often get much snow in Vancouver, usually in late December - February if we're going to get any. We can see the snow on the local mountains (Whistler, Grouse etc.,) it's a beautiful site but is close enough for me. I was actually talking to hubby about taking a few days after Christmas and going to Ainsworth Hot Springs, though that might be fun in the snow...

Anyways.... way past my bedtime and lots to do yet, so I'll say goodnight ;)

Morning ladies! Where are the rest of you?

Motivation level: 5

Aahhh... coffee, sweet nectar of life. :coffee2:
It's good to have caffeine.

So yesterday was ok, except for the 3 Musketeers bar I ate at lunch before I even realized what I was doing. I've been craving sweets like mad lately, which is unusual for me, and it's a very bad thing since it's the holidays and sweets are readily available.

After the holidays, I'm forsaking carbs for a while. I need to get them out of my system. This is ridiculous.

I really need to start exercising again. I wouldn't be so tired all the time, and I'd sleep better, and I could think better, and my body would work better and not be so stiff all the time. So why do I not do it? Because I'm lazy. *sigh*
And I will remain lazy until I actually start exercising and get some more energy. It's a viscious cycle.

Eww... this is starting to sound like the Tomorrow Diet... "I'll do it tomorrow/after the holidays." What a cop-out, Elisha! :rollpin:

Ok, I need to get ready for my day now. Hope everyone out there is having a great one, even our MIA chicks!

Elisha.....You are working so hard on your studying......we are so proud of you! It looks like you will be finishing the 100-mile challenge early too! You go girl! :cp:

Joy.....we normally have snow December - February too......but then there are those other years when we have snow by Thanksgiving. It looks like it will be one of those years! The weatherman is predicing 3-6" by tomorrow nite.....maybe I better go find my snowboots!

Hotcupojava 11-23-2004 08:51 PM

Sorry Chicks

I'm sorry I've let you all down.

squabb56 11-23-2004 09:04 PM

Had an okay day yesterday. Had to have my eyes checked (type II diabetes) and had to have my eyes dialated. Well seems the only cure for not being able to see while driving to work was the stop I made at :mcd: The good news is that I had a McBig and a diet coke, I got 1/2 way through my fries and couldn't finish them and actually threw them out before I started to eat them again. Oh well, maybe we can chalk this one up to a lesson learned. Ate fairly well the rest of the day.

Hubby and I went to a new pool facility in the area, spent about twenty minutes in the gym doing treadmill and stairclimber and then did a few lengths :strong: (about 10) before relaxing in the wet sauna and hot tub, where hubby treated me to a foot message. ... mmmmm

Today has been good so far - up to 26 of 28 points and sounds like we'll go to the pool again tonight.

Sure hope this means I'm back on track.

Had traditional November weather today in Vancouver .... rain, showers, more rain .... :rain:

Well I guess I better get ready. Talk to you all soon.

I've just read your message, hotcupojava. You must having been posting the same time as me.

I, for one, do not feel that you have let me down. We do what we are able to and leave it at that. If you need to take time in other areas do it, you know what you need. No guilt allowed.

Are you okay? Do you need some help? I'm a great listener.

Tuesday!

Hi chickies...
I'm still here checkin' in, but the plan is not going as I had planned, so Iguess you really can't call it a plan, huh? ;)

Food today was NOT good! Too many carbs, sugar and coffee! :coffee: Oh my! My miles are sucking...I did a lot of sitting today...too many meetings! :(

I just realized I did NOT post yesterday! Oops! Must have gotten side-tracked! (Nooooooo!) Yesterday was an emotional day, but I admit I did not do too much emotional eating! I was too busy! Today was just plain "I'm gonna eat what I want because I can" day!!! Thank goodness there's always tomorrow! I will certainly be glad when Monday arrives again! UGH!!!

I had forgotten to tell you all that I weighed in on Monday and the scale said I was down another .25 lbs which brings me back down to 168. Certainly not where I wanted to be at the end of this challenge, but at least I haven't gained! :)

Joy...that foot massage sounds pretty good!!! ;) You are doing awesome today! I'm proud of you! Stay on track, chickie! :bravo:

Mary...You have not let me down personally. I agree with Joy...you have to do what you need to do for yourself at any given time...if that meant you needed to be elsewhere, then so be it! But we would like you to check in with us just to let us know your hardships! We are here to listen!

MsRD...Woo Hoo on the water, chickie...dont' float away!

Elisah...keep up the good work and thanks for always being here!

Gotta run chickies...I'll try to get my miles up there tomorrow!

Hugs!

Hey everyone!

So far not terrible, I was only just over 1000 calories on Monday but then sort of avaeraged it out yesterday with 3 mince pies! Woops. Not like I'm aiming for 1000, I'm aiming for 1200-1500! But no exercise apart from some shopping if that counts. I'm too busy I have 2 essays to write :( But then after next week I'm home for christmas and I intend on going to lots of aerobics classes.

Is dad's birthday on Thur and I'm off to his party on Sat so that'll be a chance to practise avoiding finger food in public situations!

Lisa- hope your back gets better soon, pain is crummy
Lucy- Your old work sound like idiots. I reckon you're well rid!
MSRD- Glad it's going so well for you! Hope it shows up on the scales :)
Elisha- Study and exercise are not an easy mix are they!
Squabb- Well done on binning the fries!
Java- I don't reckon you've let anyone down, but maybe you PMed everyone else on the challenege and promised them a free holiday or something! Seriously, hope things go well for you.
Julie- well done on avoiding the emotional eating.

Dill

Morning chicks!

Motivation level: 3

I want to go back to bed.

Yesterday ended up ok, but only because I didn't eat dinner. Steve and I went to Taco Bell for lunch and I ate way too much. But like I said, no dinner after that, and breakfast was fairly light, so I came in around 1650 calories, which is a little higher than I was aiming for, but it's still not terrible for me.
And this morning we had McDonalds for breakfast. I've already had almost 800 calories and it's only 7:30am! Eesh. The rest of today does not look pretty. Mom and I are going down to stay with Grandma tonight so we can get an early start on Thanksgiving preparations in the morning. We will probably have hot dogs or pizza or some other fast food for dinner, as I'm sure none of us will feel like cooking.

Mary, I agree with the rest of the chicks. You haven't let us down. Heck, the only thing I've been posting is how much crap I've been eating and how much exercise I'm not getting. We're here to help you and listen when you need it. You do what you gotta do, and we'll be here when you come back. And if you come back sooner rather than later... well, no one will complain. ;)

Anyway, I'm going to go sleep for a bit longer (hopefully), but I'm sure I'll be back to check in later today. Hope everyone is doing great!

Well! I'm back!

Today is major-baking & cooking day. Have to make sweet potatoes, finish 2 cheeseballs, make & bake 2 apple pies (of my own special awesome variety) and clean my house and get this area of the dining room (little nook) cleared out in the corner for our xmas tree Friday!! AAAH!

I went to the doctor yesterday morning as planned. He took a look at my foot, which was swollen & bruised purple & grey. Took some more x-rays and said that it looks like the actual break has mostly healed, but my foot is hurting like **** because my muscles are being strained from walking, and my joints are enflamed because I'm constantly on my feet. :( NO good!

He gave me some really rad painkillers, though, chickies. :D A kind I actually haven't had before! They're fun. I'm still totally able to function, which is nice since I'm so busy today, but I feel happy and goofy, almost drunk. I get a little dizzy at times, but my foot feels way better and this is good news!

My official diagnosis: Upset muscles & joints in my right foot, which are causing a lot of pain and excruciating foot cramps. Remedy? No standing workout for 4-6 weeks. In one month, which would be mid-december, I am allowed to try my ellipitical again, but if it starts to hurt (which it does right now after 3 minutes), then NO. :( I'm sad. It kind of sucks. I just want to work out, gah! So I'm going to just have to suck it up and use my exercise bike for a month or two! It'll be okay! YAY!

Other than that, today I have to dig out our xmas decorations and make sure this area of the apartment is clean enough for the tree. PLUS I've got a giant mountain of laundry to do, ugh.

Well, other than that, food will be good today. I SWEAR! I'm going to eat healthy stuff all day and drink a bunch of water, I PROMISE!

That's about it. Have a great thanksgiving, everybody!

lisa girl 11-24-2004 09:00 PM

Lucy - today is a major baking and cooking day for me too!!!! But, I am making pecan pies instead of apple. And, I have made a vat...like 10 pounds of potatoes worth of potato salad!! Whew!

Elisha - did you end up going back to bed?? Hope you had a good day!

Hi Dill!! How are things going with you today??? Hope you are well.

Julie - Hello girl ! :) Are you baking also for the big day??? Anything chocolate??? LOL

Joy - looks like Vancouver is not the only place that is super rainy! We are about to float away here in GA!! LOL! Good job on your exercise, btw! Yay!

MsRd - Got those snow boots on???? ;)

Mary - No, you have not let us down. Not at all. We are ALL human...ALL facing the ups and downs of this weight loss thing. I hope you will keep posting...I enjoy hearing from you. Take care, Mary.

Well, we went to get our Christmas tree tonight!! And then we (as our tradition) went out for Mexican! We were in high spirits. And we have got the tree in the stand so it can get "settled in" and then it will get decorated Thanksgiving night (another tradition). We went to Wal-Mart and bought the old-fashioned ceramic bulb lights just like the ones we had when I was little. I think it will look great. Maybe I won't be such a Scrooger this year....I'm working on my attitude. I SO WANT to be in the spirit of the season..humming carols, etc....

So..........HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! I am very thankful I have you guys. I hope your day tomorrow is filled with much joy and family and laughter.

(((((HUGS!)))))

Winter has arrived...

in all of it's beauty...yep, I mean SNOW! It started snowing around noon today and I was so excited. It hasn't snowed here YET this year, so I was happy to see it! I'm sure I'll be as happy to see it go in March as I am to see it arrive today! It has put me in the mood for the holidays, although I must admit!

Lisa...you are one ahead of us! We will be going to get our Christmas tree this weekend. It's not my FAVORITE thing to do during the holidays, but it's getting better as DD gets older! She gets into the decorating more now!

Had to work today, so I did some cooking (sweet potatoes) when I got home after supper. I finished up cutting out the place cards (I printed some from the computer ;) ) and cleaned up a bit. My sister will arrive at 10 and we will start our cooking frenzy then! The traditional stuff...turkey, stuffing, mashed & sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, home made rolls, pumpkin and apple pie (we cheated and bought them from our youth group at church on Sunday...a little pricey, but fresh!)

I am going to stay away from the stuffing except for the serving i will have on my plate and the appetizers. My sister will be bringing most of that stuff! She's such a great cook that I am letting her do whatever she wants! I am going to drink some alcohol tomorrow, though...My Mom will be here! ;) Along with several other family members, children and a husband...I PROMISE I WILL NOT GET STRESSED!!!!!! LOL!!!!

Lisa...potatoe salad at thanksgiving??? You crack me up! Your traditions sound wonderful! And I want those bulbs on my tree, too! They have them back again??? The big ones? I love those!

Lucy...take care of your foot. Enjoy the day tomorrow! You are doing awesome with the cooking and no eating it! I'd be pigging out on all that stuff!

Elisha...hope your thansgiving is everything you want it to be! Hope you eat some healthy stuff!

Dill...you like Mince pie? My Dad always wanted that at the holidays. I detest it!!! LOL! Hope you have a grand time at your Dad's party! Behave!

The rest of ya...get your butts over here and post! We miss you! Hope you have a wonderful HOliday.

Jennifer...ARe you setting up a Christmas Challenge? Haven't heard from you , chickie...hope all is well!

Hugs to all!

MsRD 11-24-2004 10:53 PM

Happy Thanksgiving

I just pulled the pumpkin pie out of the oven.....looks great! The dressing is all mixed up and in the fridge, as is the cranberry relish and Grandma's dinners rolls. I sat here last night like I had nothing to do......and that makes me terribly behind schedule. (and farther behind because i had all that 'lovely' snow and treacherous roads to deal with on the way home.....my half hour commute took me 1 hour and 40 minutes!) Thank goodness I had enuf foresight to give DD and DDIL dishes they could bring tomorrow!

Mary.....have I missed something? I am quite sure you have not let me down.....or anyone else, if you check the previous posts.....so I am not quite sure where you are coming from. Nobody said this weight-loss journey was ever going to be easy......but it will be worth it.

Joy.... all your exercise followed by a sauna and hot tub...a wonderful reward for working so hard. And how nice of DH to spoil you with a foot rub!

Julie.....all you have been doing....or not doing.....and the scale still reads at a loss! How great is that!

Dill......yes, I am sure that shopping, if done properly, rates as low impact aerobic exercise.

Elisha.....going back to sleep sounds so nice. Sometimes, when the day just doesn't work out, it is a good idea to go back to bed and start over, don't you think?

Lucy.....glad you got some painkillers to help with your foot. Those muscles just need a rest, and they will continue to torture you until they get it......go slow!

I wish you all a lovely holiday.....

squabb56 11-25-2004 01:10 AM

Happy Thanksgiving to all my new American friends.

All your talk of holiday plans makes me yearn for all the traditions of Christmas (our next celebration) carols and parties, turkeys and pumpkin pies, family and friends. May your weekend bring you the joy of sharing and the comfort of family near and far, and remember to count your blessings.

Well, tonight was weight in for me. I have been fortunate (given my effort this past week) looked upon fondly by the scale fairy ... and I am down 1.4. Finally, getting my 25% which I have kinda been expecting for three weeks. Yeah me!

Doesn't look like I'm going to make my November goal - to loose 8 pounds by my anniversary on the 29th. I think I've lost either 5.6 pounds or 2 pounds this month. Depends on if you count the first week or not..... but I guess I'll take the 5.6, seen as how I only weigh on Wednesdays. But I am sure I cannot lose 2.4 pounds in five days.

Snow and Christmas trees....hmm yes it does sound a lot like Christmas. I'll need to get in the mood soon..... We grow Christmas trees and sell them along with free range grain fed turkey. I need to get super cheery and call my past customers. LOL.

Didn't end up going to the pool last night. Suddenly felt really tired and opted for a nap on the couch instead. I will definately get back to going to the gym in the mornings next week. Expect the report "I went to the gym this morning" from me on Monday or you all can feel free to get your "tazers" out.

MsRD I can smell your pumpkin pie from here :lol3: Don't stress.... everything always comes together in the end. It's great that you can rely on DD and DDIL to contribute.

Hikein - I had some great local cranberry wine for our Thanksgiving, it was great. I ended up staying OP for the day by having relatively low point items during the day and sort of planning what I would have and how many points it would be. I even had a pie of pumpking pie (1/16th) as a treat and ended up still losing .2 for the week.

Elisha - Looking back at the beginning of my post about starting my exercise on Monday :rollpin: I guess I need to beat myself up about my mondayitis or procrastinatitis. Thanks for reminding me that I am starting to do that again.

Lisagirl - mmm another favorite of mine - pecan pie (potatoe salad too btw).

A Christmas challenge would help alot. Keep me mindful of my eating. :^:

Well I'm off to change my signature.

:grouphug:
