The final 20lbs.

I wanted to start a thread to help me lose the final 20 lbs. Anyone is welcome to join in no matter how close to goal.

My dedication has wavered quite a bit over the past 6 months or so. I am closing in on 18 months of losing and feel like I am tired of the losing part and just want to enter maintenance. I am so thankful that I have had a huge support system in this website and people to help cheer me on and pick me up when I am feeling down.

Time to get it done!

Seeing this thread helped give me a motivation infusion. :D

It's time to slay the final 20!! I've been stalled here way too long. My game plan for the next month:
- Strict adherence to my daily calorie goal.
- Except one day a week. ;) But on that day, I'll not exceed my maintenance calories. In the past (including last night), I've gone well over maintenance, anywhere from a few hundred calories over to 1,000 over. That's fine when I have no weight to lose, but it's holding me back from dropping this extra weight. So I've got to stop that.

I might add in more activity/exercise, but I'm not sure about that part yet.

Good luck, kfunk, and everyone in the final 20!

kfunk6113 05-20-2018 04:36 PM

lunkah I am glad that you are doing this with me!!!

I love your goals, here are mine.

-Track everything and stay under my WW points for the week
-Increase activity level
-NO binging
-at least 80 oz of water each day

I am going to start wearing my fitbit to see if I can challenge myself to getting extra steps in.

ange82much 05-20-2018 06:54 PM

Hi kfunk can I join you too? I'm hoping to only need this for a shortish time and I only have to get "safely" under where I am now so I can have some wiggle-room back up to where I am now. 3lb would be nice, but at the moment I've been stuck at my "target" for a couple of weeks, and I really want to shift past it (somehow). So from 123lb to 120lb. Or perhaps it would be exciting to see the teens, on one occasion at least, so maybe i'll try for 119...

My plan is to get strictly back to what I was doing to lose (had too many indulgences this weekend, and I don't want to keep doing that, yet). Maybe i'll try an extra 300calories once a week (eg two drinks on one of the weekend nights) and see how that goes. Hoping it's going to be enough to still lose a bit but transition to maintenance at the same time.

kfunk6113 05-21-2018 08:02 AM

ange Hiii! Of course you can! I really like your goal to get some wiggle room, brilliant idea!! How often do you plan on weighing yourself once you get down to 119? I think that your plan sounds great!!

I had a little bounce up today, but that was no surprise since I weigh in so much earlier during the work week than I do on the weekends. I also didn't sleep very well last night. Roasted veggies have caused me terrible stomach pain the last 2 times that I have had them. I had zucchini, onion, peppers and baby potatoes with parmesan cheese and a small amount of olive oil and some spices. I am not sure what the culprit is, but the stomach pain is unbelievable, feels like I am being punched in the gut.

I won my diet bet today and that means that I will start my 30 Day Shred DVDs tonight. I am actually kind of excited about it!

I hope that you lovely ladies are having a great start to the week!! Ange I think it might already be Tuesday for you!

nicoley73 05-21-2018 09:14 AM

I'm in. I figure it will take me four months to lose 20 lbs - maybe this will help me keep on track. I'm going to push myself to make goal by Labor Day.

Kfunk - did you have garlic with your veggies? I have issues with garlic sometimes.

My goals:

Drink more water
Limit sugar consumption
Stay on plan on weekends

Weekends are the toughest challenge for me.

Hey, guys!

Ah, kfunk, your water goal is a good reminder. I usually drink a good amount of water, but I want to bump that up a notch.
Veg of all sorts (especially raw, but all, really) gave me horrible gastro problems for a couple of years. For me, it was IBS. That's mostly cleared up for me. Nicoley mentioned garlic and that's one food that unfortunately still bothers me, but I'm ok with garlic powder, at least. Something that might help you is taking beano when you eat the veggies that bother you. You may lack the enzymes needed to digest them, and beano can help with that. I waited a couple of years before trying it and wished I'd done it sooner! It's not a cure, but it made a significant difference for me. What really helped me the most though was laying off almost all fruit and veg for a couple of months while taking probiotics. Hopefully what you have is much more mild and won't require all that, but just in case it could help, I wanted to pass that along!

Ange, I'm glad you got to enjoy some indulgences lately, but I get what you mean about not wanting to do that much yet. Your idea for a couple of drinks sounds lovely and like it won't stand in the way of carving out that buffer.

nicoley, weekends, ugh I know! I love them, of course, but I've been letting them keep me stuck in maintenance at a weight that is not my maintenance weight, grrr. I'm finally accepting that the way I can eat and maintain at my goal weight range is NOT the way I can eat and lose, even when 20 pounds higher.

I met my calorie goals yesterday. Things usually go fine there, though, so I haven't really been tested yet. It's that one day a week when I mess up my deficit, so we'll see how I deal with that challenge when I get to it! I'm determined not to exceed maintenance calories on that day for at least a month. A month isn't so long. I should be able to swing that. ;) I think I'll brainstorm some lower calorie party foods to eat, since the "meal" I overeat is usually an evening when I socialize.

opheliaphoenix 05-21-2018 04:08 PM

I'm not nearly as close to my actual goal weight as you guys are just yet, but I have a similar amount to go to hit my next mini-goal! In about 15 lbs, I will officially hit a "normal" BMI, and it will be the first time since I was a CHILD that I will be considered a healthy weight instead of overweight or obese! :cloud9: So, can I join with you guys with that goal instead? I already have a ticker for it in my signature and everything, so I am ready...lol.

ange82much 05-21-2018 06:10 PM

Thanks kfunk! i think i'd need to carry on weighing myself a couple of times a week really, once I get to target. At the moment it's pretty much every day unless i'm away somewhere. The danger (for me) would be too little not too much I think!
Well, my weight is just desperate to be 56.x kg at the moment, and i'm seemingly paying for recent 'treat' events, so I've adjusted my current weight (upwards :( )and put a new target weight on my tracker to include the wiggle factor, and lets see if I can get any progress from here. It seems like I have a long way to go again now!!

Great to see you other familiar faces here too :)

Chunkahlunkah 05-21-2018 09:09 PM

Welcome, ophelia, and congrats on your impending milestone!

Chunkahlunkah 05-21-2018 11:53 PM

So, going completely against my previously stated game plan , I'm considering dropping calorie counting for a while. I'm starting to find it tedious. Also, I feel like I'm relying too much on the numbers to tell me if I'm eating too much/enough rather than my own intuition. I don't like that feeling.

I needed to lose a similar amount of weight about 10 years ago. I was calorie-aware throughout that loss - kept some running estimates in my head about what I was eating each day. I barely ever precisely counted calories though and never used a food scale. Nevertheless, the weight reliably fell off. So I think I can lose w/o tracking every calorie I eat, and possibly even lose better that way. Rather than focus on the numbers, I'll focus on being active every day and eating reasonable portions of filling, healthy foods that I love with occasional treats.

Maybe I'll go back to calorie counting in a week or two, but I'm going to lay off the numbers for a bit. I'll still weigh myself though for feedback.

It's going to feel weird not tracking bc I've been doing it for so long!

ange82much 05-22-2018 07:19 AM

chunks interesting plan, let us know how you go. I'm a strict calorie counter too, except when I've had to go away for work, or when I went on holiday. I found that I lost the same weight either way (i.e. whether I was counting strictly or not counting at all), but when I didn't count I spent more time 'worrying' about it! Trying to decide if i'd under-estimated something, or whether I should eat something more or whatever - so when I came back home again I started counting again, because once it was done and recorded I didn't have to second-guess myself. I get what you're saying about it getting boring though. I don't want to be doing this for ever either, and I also want to be a good 'eyeballer', on the other hand I guess I want to do whatever is easiest (and works!), but the question is, what is easiest?!!

nicoley73 05-22-2018 08:03 AM

I hate calorie counting. I've tried in the past but I really just hate it - it stresses me out and I find that I obsess over how many calories I have left instead of eating when I'm hungry. My most sustainable diet is intermittent fasting - it seems to work best with how I like to eat. I am somewhat calorie aware - I generally eat two 500-600 calorie meals a day, with sometimes a snack in between - but I don't stress too much about it.

Obviously, different diets work for different people and studies seem to show that results turn out the same regardless. It's about what you think you can do long term - which is the hardest part! I think they all get tedious after a while...

Hi everyone! can I join you guys as well? I just signed up for this community last night. I have a long weigh to go, and congratulations to everyone who is so close, must be really exciting!! My mini goal will be 20 pounds from now! I need this motivation. I actually made the decision last night to take my weight loss seriously... and this forum looks perfect.

:welcome: Nicoley, Ophelia, and fit!!

Nicoley- That is so exciting that you have a date in mind for hitting goal, I think that makes it more “real”. I didn’t have garlic with them, I think it might be the zucchini… ugh, roasted veggies is one of my favorite dinners!! Weekends have been VERY tough for me as well. I had a great one last weekend and I am planning on making it 2 in a row. I kind of want to seclude myself and not accept as many invites just to get this done. I loooove IF, having a shorter window has made such a difference because I actually have the opportunity to feel satisfied/slightly full.

Lunka- I don’t know much about IBS, but I had no issues with my bowel movements (sorry!) it was just the horrible pain. I will definitely look into probiotics and beano to see if that helps. I was thinking it might be the zucchini because I have had cooked peppers and carrots in other dishes and have been fine. I wouldn’t think the baby potatoes would do anything because they are so bland, but that might be it too. I hear you on the one day that messes up the deficit… do you like popcorn? Maybe taking a break from counting will be the break that you need!!

Ophelia- OMG, getting to the “normal” weight zone is such a big deal!!!! Go you!! I think I become “normal” at 144, so very close to my goal. I am almost positive that I will be adjusting my goal into the 130’s though. I guess a lot can happen in 20 lbs. but man, I am very chunky still!! I love all your tickers!! Glad that you are here with us!!

Ange
- How much water are you drinking? Even if you drink a lot, I would drink extra to help flush out your weekend indulgences… I would think it should show soon on the scale because you were very reasonable in your choices and didn’t go overboard at all! I feel bad that you are stalling after having such a smooth sailing journey.. It will come off though, I promise!

Fit Welcome!!!! I am so glad that you found this forum. I have been yo-yoing since I was a teenager and have been successful in losing weight a bunch of times, but this has been the only time I have actually really succeeded. I credit this website 100%, it might be a coincidence but I really don’t think so. I spend almost every day reading old posts and these challenges help a ton. Do you have a plan to help you lose?

Yesterday I met my water goals, had a few left over WW points, and did the 30 Day Shred—nice trifecta!! Today I want to hit a full gallon of water and exert myself more for the workout DVD.. yesterday was kind of lazy, but I did it so I am still counting it haha!!

Chunkahlunkah 05-22-2018 08:57 AM

ange82 - Yes, I'll definitely let you guys know how it goes. :)

More than the tedium, I just don't like the subtle but significant shift it creates in my relationship with food. I strongly prefer eating intuitively, but I personally can't do that as well when I'm counting bc I focus more on numbers. I've been stalled so long bc of adherence problems (one day a week when I eat well over maintenance) and lack of activity. The thing is, I know I'm overeating on the day I do regardless of whether I'm tracking the calories. What I need to do is stop eating so much that day, and I don't need to count calories to do that. ;) I also know that I need to be more active. I have a pretty good sense for how much I need to eat day-to-day to lose, so tracking seems superfluous for me and like a side stress that's distracting my energy from other things. I'll still measure potential calorie bombs (like oils) to make sure I'm not grabbing too much, but I'm going to try to silent the calorie counter in my head for a while and see how things go. I think this will be easier for me in that it will feel more like my natural self. I think what's easiest though will vary by person and even vary at different times in a person's life. For most of my life, my weight's held steady in the range that I'm working to get back to. I gained this weight from extreme inactivity (brought about by a change in lifestyle and anemia) and eating more calories than my norm (brought about by a major change in my diet due to IBS). I'll see how it goes though! I'm totally open to returning to calorie counting, but I need this reset to feel more like myself.

nicoley - I think you're right that it all gets tedious after a while! I hope it'll help me to mix things up.

Welcome fit150 and congrats on your decision to commit to weight loss! :welcome:

kfunk - Sounds like the zucchini could be the culprit. I hope it was just a blip and you find that experience doesn't repeat itself. IBS...It can cause a lot of pain even w/o bowel issues and, for me, foods that had never in my life bothered me, started to. I can't even express how happy I am that that's over for me! Anyway, I hope veg plays nice for you and doesn't do that again. :) Thank you for the popcorn suggestion! I do like it, and haven't eaten it in a long time. Congrats on the trifecta yesterday and even a lazy 30DS is an achievement; she's tough!

opheliaphoenix 05-22-2018 05:36 PM

Chunkah: Thank you for the welcome, and let us know how your experiment with moving back into intuitive eating goes! My goal is to be able to get to that point by the time I hit a maintenance weight range, because I think - if you're able to manage to keep a healthy balance living life that way - it is undeniably the most sustainable way to live out the rest of your days.

fit150: Welcome to 3FC!! I'm just joining in this challenge with a mini-goal, as well. This forum has helped me more than anything else in staying committed to my goals, even after multiple failures and restarts, so I'm glad you found us!

kfunk: Thank you for letting me join in! And, I think the range of a "normal" BMI for me is somewhere in (the rather large) range of 122-162lbs, depending on which chart you look at -- they seem to fluctuate by a few pounds or so across the board. As long as I'm somewhere in the middle of that by the time I enter maintenance, I will be happy...lol. My "ultimate goal" is set at 135, so I'm aiming for that for now, but I will decide on an offical goal when I am in the 130-150 range to see where I will be healthiest/happiest. I'd be thrilled to just get into the general range at all right now, as I'm still quite chunky, as well! I've definitely got the "mom bod" thing going on in every way.

still 56.2kg this morning..... actually i'm sounding more grumpy than I am, because to be honest i'm excited to see 56.x on the scale every day, but it's just weird that I've been humming along nicely since January and the second that I hit my original target of 56 (which is middle-of-normal BMI for me :) )then I get this weird stall thing.

I'm not doing anything differently (other than two nights with 3x glasses of wine at the weekend, which shouldn't throw me this much) I've even attached my graph to illustrate what's happening now isn't what's happened before! All I want is to be in the orange box, but the scales are refusing to go there like a horse in front of a fence!! I wonder whether mentally I think i'm there and therefore the body isn't going to change any more (although i'm sure that mental attitude can't change this can it?) Or maybe because I've got that court case thing done at work and i'm not stressed about it any more?

Anyway, whatever, everyone else has plateaus and they just get on with life so I seriously need to stop whinging!

kfunk6113 05-23-2018 08:42 AM

Lunkah- I can really relate to what you posted about calorie counting shifting your relationship with food. Even more than weight loss I am hoping that at some point I can have a “normal” relationship with food. I get stuck in a binge/starve type of cycle that is hard to break out of. Lately things have been good, but I know it can change in the blink of an eye. I can’t figure out what my trigger was that led me down this road but I do know that all the yo-yo dieting over the past 15 years didn’t help.
Is your overeating day when you are social, or will it happen regardless of whether you have plans that week? I like your idea of still measuring oils and other calorie bombs. Do you take an iron supplement for your anemia, or have you managed it with different measures? That is good to know about IBS, I assumed that you needed both symptoms. I am going to incorporate probiotics and beano like you suggested to see if that helps! My husband has developed food allergies to many different fruits and vegetables later in life. He said it started with the bad stomach pain and then graduated to an itchy throat and other allergy symptoms. I really hope that is not the case. I truly love veggies now and I will be P*ssed if I can’t have them!!

Ophelia- I think aiming for somewhere in the middle is a great goal for you! I think my range is 110-143, so I chose the very high end of normal to start, but I don’t know why! Do you think that all of your walking and exercise is helping your legs look firmer? We have the same body type so I am really curious! I laughed out loud at your “mom bod” comment because just the other day I was thinking that about my own haha!!

Ange- I think that we all start to second guess things when the scale stays stagnant. For me, if I keep on chugging the scale will FINALLY move. Then I relax and feel silly that I was worried, but when it happens again I go right back to worrying hahah! I have never in my life seen a graph that had a downward trajectory like that, holy smokes!! I should plot mine out sometime to see, but LOTS of up down, up downs would be visible. You are not whining at all, this is a part of the journey and we are all here to support eachother!!

Yesterday wasn’t as good as I was planning. I ended up working late last night and did not work out. I was pretty sore anyways, but tonight I will get back to it no matter what. I didn’t quite hit a gallon of water, but drank more than 80 oz and I stayed on track with my weight watcher points.

Nicoley and Fit-- Hiii!! I hope you are doing well!!

Chunkahlunkah 05-23-2018 11:16 AM

So at the end of the day yesterday, my inner calorie counter couldn't help but do a quick ballpark estimate of what I ate that day. I'm ok with that, helps me know that I'm not heading off track.

ophelia - Yes, for me, IE is the only way I could eat long-term and still feel like myself. I'll probably periodically return to calorie counting, but it's just not for me for extended periods of time. Congrats on your recent dragonfly, btw!

ange - I'm sorry the scale is stalling. You're at a great weight though! Congrats on your loss this year; you rocked it! It might just be a matter of time for any more weight to come off, since you're already at an ideal weight.

kfunk - Yes, the shift in how I was relating to food disturbed me a little. Not that it was anything extreme, but I started to see food more as calories rather than as primarily food. I hope so much that you achieve your goal for a change in your relationship with food. I think dieting in itself can alter that natural relationship (depending on the diet). My overeating day is almost always a night/day when I'm socializing. It's usually Saturday night after work or Sunday. I did once overeat on a Saturday night when I wasn't socializing, but I think that's bc at that point I'd already conditioned myself for Saturday night to be an evening of carelessly eating high calorie food. I don't usually overeat by that much on that day. I'm usually 4/500 calories over my sedentary maintenance (so around 1900/2000). A couple times I was close to 2,500 though. I think part of what's going on is that when I expend energy tracking calories during the week, I feel I need a fun, carefree break from it on the weekend. It's like the more energy I use tracking during the week, the more careless I want to be that night, if that makes sense. It's weird bc I'm totally ok with eating low calories during the week; I just appear to hate tracking it! So that's one reason I'm stopping counting, since I suspect it's become counterproductive for me. Thanks again for the popcorn reminder - I'm going to have that on hand for Saturday so that I can only do so much damage that night! ;) Yes, I take an iron supplement for anemia. Regarding veg, it may have just been a one-off for you. I really hope that's all it was. Trust me, I understand how frustrating it is when veg turns against us! I'm sorry your husband is going through that.

Haha, i know! I've dieted a few times in the past, and it's never looked like that before either - the most impressive bit is the 2.5week holiday in Europe with no weighing, after which I got back home and was straight back on the trendline!! That's totally weird really. Guess the difference this time is that I've been completely consistent, and not gone off track on weekends or anything, whereas previously I've not been as strict for as long, or I've eaten more carbs. Less exercise this time too - not sure if that would give ups and downs?? Anyway, i'll take it because the constant progress has kept me motivated. Beginning to have a lot more sympathy for people with stalls though.

thanks Chunks :D
How was your IE today? Do you think you'll change the frequency of eating with this approach? Or do you just end up eating in pretty much the same way as before, but not stressing about the numbers?

kfunk6113 05-24-2018 08:33 AM

Lunkah- thank you! I agree with you that dieting can alter the relationship. I do hope to see food as fuel in the future. I try to tell myself that not everything I eat has to be delicious and that seems to help. It sounds like you have a plan in place for when you do socialize so that is good. I think you are going to be able to maintain with absolutely no problems and that feels good, right?!? I am due for a physical and will have them do a blood draw, I suspect that I might be borderline anemic. Thank you, I hope you are right too; it happened 2 times in the past month and both times it was the exact same meal that did it. It just seems so cruel, I finally enjoy veggies and now I have to work around my body so that I am not in pain after eating them!

Ange
- I bet that your consistency with no “cheat” days played a part for sure. I can’t count the number of off days I have had since starting 18 months ago. I am still very pleased at where I am at but I do think it would have happened faster had I reined it in a bit.

Yesterday I hit my gallon of water goal and also completed the 30 Day Shred, this time at a much more intense pace! I did go over in my WW points, but I had plenty of extra weekly points, so no worry there!

Chunkahlunkah 05-24-2018 10:01 AM

I'm back down to my month's low after being up for over a week. I hope this downward trajectory continues and does so more smoothly. I think it will, so long as I lay off my weekend banquets. ;)

ange - IE is going well. Feels like taking off fancy attire and just being myself. :D I'll likely eat pretty much the same as before (with an effort to eat less on my party nights).

kfunk - I'm actually really into food as pleasurable nutrition, so I like for most foods I eat to be delicious. :D But fortunately I find produce delicious, so that helps. Looks like you do, too? I saw you mentioning fresh fruit in some thread recently, and I think that's another item I'll pick up for Saturday night. Yes, maintenance should go well. I'm great at maintenance but not as good at losing. If you find that you are anemic and your dr recommends an iron supplement, I highly rec ferrous gluconate. There are different types of iron supplements, but that's the one the body absorbs best. You'd think most doctors would know that, but unless they have a special interest in anemia, many don't. Oh no @ the two times veggie hit. I hope it was just the zucchini, better if it's just one culprit. Did you have a large serving of the assortment? For many people with these problems, a small serving of the same food(s) won't trigger a reaction. I prefer to eat very large portions of veg, but with some veg I have to stick to 1 serving or less or they still make me sick. I completely understand what you mean about the cruelty! Great job rocking 30DS, btw!

kfunk6113 05-25-2018 08:38 AM

Lunkah- Yes, I love lots of produce now! Before I think I liked it, but I generally avoided it because I was filling up on junky food instead. I LOVE grilled asparagus with a little olive oil and salt and pepper, I will definitely make sure to eat that over the long weekend!! I love most fruit as well. My favorites are pineapple, grapes, bananas, berries, and melons. One of my absolute favorite treats are frozen green grapes, omg.. to die for!! Now that you mention it, I did have a big bowl of the veggies each time. That gives me hope that if I eat less of the foods that bother me it might not happen! Thank you for the iron recommendation, I will make sure that is what I get prescribed (or pick up) if I indeed need it. Thank you about the 30 DS!! I skipped last night because our schedule was chaotic and didn’t get the kids home and in bed until 9 (we usually shoot for the 7pm hour for bedtimes). And most importantly… CONGRATS on getting back down to your low weight!!!! I hope that the scale continues to reward your efforts!!!

Yesterday was not the best day, but I made several positive decisions that I am thrilled with! I ended up going 11 points over so now I am down to 21 weekly points. I think they reset on Saturday so this shouldn't be an issue. I did make my water goal, but I did not work out.

Does anyone have any plans for Memorial weekend? We are going to a birthday party on Saturday, but other than that we will be able to make our own family plans for the other 2 days! We do have quite a bit of lawn care to do, but want to make sure we don't work all weekend!

Chunkahlunkah 05-25-2018 11:00 AM

kfunk - Thanks, it feels good to be back down. It'll feel even better when I hit a new low. :D Mmm, grilled asparagus, that's one of my favorites too! I just had some a few days ago, and it was outstanding. You know, I'm not sure if I ever tried frozen grapes. I'll have to give it a go. Well done on the positive decisions. :cp: Related to the holiday, I have a party to go to on Sunday afternoon. I hope it doesn't rain because if it doesn't it'll mostly be outdoors. The heat naturally suppresses my appetite, so is an effective party-eating hack for me.

Have a great weekend, everyone! I don't know if I'll be posting again before Saturday night, which is when I'll be "tested" not to overeat while socializing. My game plan is to have fresh fruit and popcorn on hand. (The get-together will be at my place.) Guests usually bring high cal foods, but I'll fill up on mine. If I really want some of what they bring, I'll just have a taste. So I say now. *sigh* Be strong, self!!!

^ Test went great! :D

And that's even with someone bringing pecan pie, which I LOVE. After first snacking on my own food for a while, however, my palate just didn't want that flavor. I did save a slice for myself to eat today or tomorrow though. :)

congrats on passing the food test Chunks! It's good to know that a big social event doesn't have to equal food disaster!

I've had a reconciliation with the scales, in which they have been persuaded to resume their role in reflecting my hardline expectations, lol. I'm back on trendline! 54.7kg.

It just occurred to me this morning, that when you start on Maintenance mode they suggest you up your cals a bit, see if the loss slows, up them a bit more etc, until you stop losing, which makes total sense. Trouble is, this is also a common message and the same advice for if you've been on low calories but have stalled in weight loss and you want to bump-start your metabolism to lose quickly again. So if I start to increase my cals, which way is it going to go?! I'll accept the challenge as an experiment (in a couple of weeks, when i'm definitely in the wiggle zone) and report back....

kfunk6113 05-27-2018 09:18 PM

lunkah GREAT job last night, I bet that felt good!!! How did the party today go?? I am hoping that we will both hit new lows soon!

ange You are too funny about your relationship with your scale! I am really curious to see how it goes with finding a calorie level that doesn't cause you to keep losing. I can not wait to get to that point!! Let us know what you find out!! I know its still a couple weeks out, but have you put any thought into what types of foods you will be incorporating in order to increase your calories?

Yesterday we went to a bday party and I did pretty well! I filled my plate with salad and then there was another type of salad with a mustard base that had a bunch of veggies. I grazed on strawberries and had a couple little pickles and 1 chip. I didn't have any cake and I had a really good cobb salad for dinner later. I was up a bit on the scale this morning and I attribute that to all the sodium in the salad (store bought).

Today I had a really weird day food wise. I ended up eating at more of a maintenance level than weight loss level. I had eggs and coffee like normal for breakfast and then ate a lot of watermelon while I cut it up. I got a HORRIBLE stomach ache again, the same type that I got with the roasted veggies. For lunch I had some mini rice cakes, 2 graham crackers with peanut butter and a sliced, warmed apple with cinnamon, pecans, small amount of brown sugar and 1 crushed up graham cracker. Then I had a HUGE dinner. Lots of salad, some asparagus, and steak with blue cheese. I will not be surprised if I see a significant gain on the scale tomorrow!

of course! I'm thinking wine will fill the gap :D

Seriously though, i'm loving the veggies, and don't miss sugar or pasta/rice etc, so really i'd just like to be able to eat more of the same, maybe the occasional sandwich (haven't had bread either this year) but I was also serious about bringing back some alcohol as I do enjoy it at the weekend, and have gone largely without all year).

Hope you figure out what's giving you the stomach cramps. Sounds like you've had some good healthy food this weekend (even if yesterday had higher cals than you'd like). Sorry, hadn't seen this thread before I asked how your weekend went in the other thread!

I’d like to join. 20 pounds will get me into the “normal” range, which is an important goal.

ange - I'm glad the scales returned to meeting expectations. Wine and occasional bread sound like fantastic additions upon maintenance.

kfunk - The party went really well. There ended up being no rain, so we spent the whole time outdoors. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and some fruit salad. That was more than enough. The heat really kills my appetite. I'm wishing us both luck for hitting new lows soon! Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that you had a reaction after the watermelon too.

Slimmer me - Welcome to the thread and good luck with that significant milestone!

Nightowlrn 05-29-2018 09:12 AM

Kfunk - Thank you for this thread. Losing another 20 is a stretch for me, but I sure would be happy if I can do it. I will put my 20# goal at 140 by October 2018.

I will follow and cheer everyone on, celebrate successes, loudly boo set backs, and try to keep my eyes on my own 20# ball this summer.

Ange- your plan sounds really good. It will be nice to enjoy some wine more often!! I think that I plan on doing the same thing when I get to goal; same wholesome foods, just bigger portions.

Slimmerme- welcome!! At 144 I will be “normal” too!!!

Lunkah- I am glad that the party went well for you and that you were rewarded for your effort on the scale!!! Go you!! About the watermelon, WTF is up with my body?!

NightowlRN- Welcome!! I love your “loudly boo setbacks”!!

This weekend was MUCH better than the typical holiday weekend for me. I am up 3.8 lbs. but I think with extra water intake that will come back down pretty quick. I am 1 week out from my TOM so that also may explain some of the gain. Last night I ate a bunch of pizza and then had desert but today is back on track!

:welcome: to the thread, nightowlrn! How's biking going? Do you live somewhere with a climate that's conducive to biking year round? I have a cruiser that I love. Your avatar reminded me that I enjoy biking but have been neglecting it.

kfunk - Congrats on the drop into new territory! That's awesome! :cp:

Well done on the drop, nicoley!

I'm on the edge of a new decade and am eager to get there. I've hit 140.0 as my low many times for a very long time. I'm so beyond ready to kiss the 140s goodbye forever! My stay in this decade has been interminable, but that's been due to my on-and-off approach to weight loss. I'll be "on" for at least the next two months, and I'm aiming to drop as close to 10 pounds in that time frame as I can get. After that, I'll be moving and starting my PhD program. I'll be ok with a slower rate of losing as I adjust to that. But c'mon -10 pounds by Aug 7th! :D

Chunkahlunkah 06-11-2018 09:42 AM

New low and new decade!! I'm finally, finally, FINALLY in the 130s! I haven't seen this decade since 2015 when I was ascending it. It feels much better this time around dropping down it!

Part of this loss is probably dehydration, but I still am thrilled to finally see a 3 in the tens spot. :D :D :D

ange82much 06-11-2018 11:06 AM

Fantastic work Chunks! Well done to you. How much more are you targeting to lose?

Chunkahlunkah 06-11-2018 11:19 AM

Thank you, Ange! My usual weight as an adult has been 115-120, although my norm was 107-109 for a few years when I had a very active job. My goal now is to get to around 120 and then start a recomp. My immediate goal is to get to 130 this summer before my semester starts in August. (I'm at 139 now.) I think if I stay active and limit my weekend indulgences, I'll be able to meet that or get very close. :crossed:

I saw your plan to stay in diet mode for work travel. I think that's a great idea! I wish I were with you in South Africa btw. I've never been, but my ex spent some time there on several visits. It's one of his favorite places.

kfunk6113 06-12-2018 08:42 AM

Nicoley- Nice drop!!

Lunkah- Congrats on getting into the 130’s, that must feel AMAZING!!!! Cue the dancing bananas…. How did this last weekend go, I am guessing pretty well based on your new numbers?

ange I hope that your plan is working well during your work trip!!

I was down to 157 late last week and then had 1 “off plan” day and I shot right back up, but I hope as the week goes on I will see the 157’s again!
