Come on scale! I've been even for about the last 7 days, on plan and lots of movement.

Went to pub last night and had a mile ish to walk there, so luckily I was a bit thirsty when I arrived and a soda water appealed more than a glass of wine, hence the temptation was removed. Very happy that it's weekend! snowmama if you're like me, the scale can do no right - either it's not moving and i'm grumpy, or it's too high and i'm grumpy, or it's dropped too far and I won't see another drop for a while so i'm grumpy!! Hang in there, if your diet's been ok, results are guaranteed eventually! Also giving the scale a good talking to and pointing out its shortcomings helps, I find :D slimmer me stick in there! Good luck with getting some real progress very soon. This dieting thing can be so frustrating! momtopands wow! big congratulations on 25 inches gone and a new low for you. That's fantastic! Well done! I've been having a big clothes clear out the last few weeks too, and in fact the last batch of old small clothes are in the wash right now. It feels so good to be able to get stuff on that I haven't worn for about 5 years (and then only briefly). And pretty much everything from earlier on this year is unwearable for being too big now. :D Is there anything in particular from your summer collection that you're looking forward to being able to wear? ophelia well done you for dropping some more. Can't wait for you to get in the 170's, you seem to have had an undeserved extended time in the 180's!! Go girl! Hope everyone else is doing well, it's good to read some good progress stories on here, but everyone that's finding it tough is doing it much harder mentally, so sending out willpower dust and positive thoughts - lets have a good weekend with good choices, and feel proud by Monday :) |
Everyone is doing so well. I am back to finish off my last 10 pounds and then maintain. I'm up 4 pounds since the beginning of April - not the best month weight wise. I decided to join WW for the last 10 lbs since I seem to be yo yoing back and forth over these last pounds. Keep up the good work everyone.

I'll take it. ETA - 5/8/18 - Full disclosure - I rode my bike 224 miles and camped on the Katy Trail 4/28-5/1. I kept to the correct calories and should have dropped a few pounds based on the miles and camping. Imagine my surprise when I returned and saw I had GAINED weight that week. But, it looks like my body kept on to water (protection from the stress maybe?) and is finally letting it go and the loss between 5/1 and 5/7 reflects that. |
momtopands Thank you, a few more lbs. and I will be back to where I was late April!! WOW, 25 inches and a new low weight.. that is AMAZING :carrot::carrot: It is so much fun going through old clothes to see what fits again!!!
snowmama I hope that you are rewarded with a nice whoosh for your patience!!! nightowl Welcome!! How exciting that you have a fun goal to look forward to! Your trip sounds like it is going to be amazing!! flower Yay, another WW buddy!!! How is it going so far?? What kinds of foods have you been eating on it? PandaCupcake: I hope you're seeing some movement on the scale! :crossed:
ange82much: I'm glad the scales have heard you and started cooperating again! ;) Maybe I will do the same with mine to see if I can convince them to finally let me get down into the 170s, lol. nicoley73: Congrats on getting back down into the 140s! :yay: kfunk: The numbness is still there, but hasn't been as bothersome since Friday...hopefully that means it is starting to resolve itself, as well! Just weird to have a bit of a dead feeling there in the meantime, lol. And, I lost my drops over the last couple of days, but I'm hoping it's just some water retention from barely any water yesterday and having some indulgences over the last couple of days...we will see how that goes with some extra water in the plan today. You're doing great getting back down, by the way! :cheer3: momtopands: As I was saying to kfunk just up above, I lost my loss with some unexpected plans that popped up over the last couple days, but hoping to get it back today by rehydrating! Fingers crossed for a whoosh back on track in the next day or two...lol. :crossed: Great work getting back down to your starting weight for the month, by the way...awesome recovery! And, 25 inches lost since January is amazing! :cp: Slimmer me: Sending you well wishes to settle back down to where you started soon! :luck2you: SnowMama: Hoping you see a break in the pattern today! :crossed: flower1: I hope WW helps do the trick for you to officially enter maintenance! :) Nightowlrn: Welcome, and best of luck with your May goal! And, going to Belize sounds absolutely wonderful -- definitely a great motivator to stay on plan! :sunny: ----------------------------------------- Catching up for the last couple of days, we had a celebration out of town for a reenlistment for one of my husband's fellow soldiers at a famed saloon over in Tombstone on Friday (Big Nose Kate's, who was the girlfriend of the infamous Doc Holliday) and also went out of town on a daytrip to Tucson yesterday, which included going to the movies and eating some soft pretzels and frozen custard....so, needless to say, I'm not surprised to see a gain today at 182.8, and I'm just happy it's not more of a bump up on the scale. We did a lot of walking, so I'm thinking that helped mitigate the damage a little...but, I also hardly drank any water yesterday, so I'm going to drink it like a fish today to help rehydrate. I hope you're all having a lovely weekend! Week One 01: 183.2 02: 182.4 03: 181.8 04: 181.6 05: NWI. 06: 182.8 07: ---------------------------- Total Loss for Week One: |
I don't think that number today is real - for dinner last night I shared a bucket of popcorn at the movies. I rarely eat at the movies, but I had a free popcorn for my birthday and I love popcorn - although movie popcorn is not my favorite.

Ophelia You are still below where you started this week so that's great! Glad you enjoyed your weekend, treated yourself and still didn't have too much of a gain so it's a win! My weekend hasn't been too great. I've always known that eating out isn't the thing to do too much of if I want to be successful. I ate out all 3 days, well some items not all meals, but my body wasn't impressed. I also didn't feel like working out this past week but I did everyday but Friday and my body also missed that. Saturday night at work someone brought in hand made samosas which sat calling me until I had some. And Sunday I went out to eat Mexican, though I didn't overindulge, no dessert and only drank water. Somehow today I went down though so i'm really planning on staying on track, no eating out for a while. I do have my groove back with working out plus I am adding walking to my boot camp. I had a great walk today and plan to put my music back on and do it at least 3 times per week! My goal is 5 pounds and as of today I'm down 2.6 pounds. So just over halfway there! I don't want to jinx it, but I think I might make goal this month. I haven't made my weight loss goal since last summer, I think, so I'd be really excited. :)

kfunk: I will definitely join you! Maybe knowing someone else is aiming for that same goal with me today will help me actually hit the full gallon this time...lol. Only got a little over halfway there yesterday. We got this! momtopands: That is true...it could have been worse, considering how much fun we had. And, you're already recovering well from your meals out over the weekend, so I bet you'll do great this coming week! :) Chunkah: I think we were posting at the same time, so editing this to include you! Haha. You're doing great this month, so I bet you're right in feeling like you will hit your goal this month! ----------------------------------------- Well, the scale went in the wrong direction again, back up to 183.2 -- this time for no apparent reason. :chin: I'm thinking TOM might be starting in the next couple of days, looking at the calendar. I was excited to show a decent loss for the week, but it looks like I will have to log another slow week with the ill-timed gains. However, I'll be keeping my chin up as we move into a new week! We'll see if TOM shows up for Week Two...if so, I'm hoping it passes quickly and that the scale will give me back my whoosh by the end of the coming week. :crossed: Week One 01: 183.2 02: 182.4 03: 181.8 04: 181.6 05: NWI. 06: 182.8 07: 183.2 ---------------------------- Total Loss for Week One: -0.2 lbs. |

Ophelia - we saw the Avengers. It was awesome. Looks like my weight is sticking, and they are moving me at work away from the free food, so I will be able to better avoid temptation. momtopands Thank you. It is really impressive that you worked out so much last week even though you didn't feel like it. That is a huge victory!!! Working out always has been my weakness but I am going to have to find a way to turn that around if I want to fully embrace a healthier lifestyle. That will be so exciting to wear the white cotton shirt this summer! I dislike it when coworkers bring in treats, its so nice of them, but my willpower is only so strong!
ophelia How did it go!? I ended up with over 120 ounces. Once I finished my 3rd 40 ounce bottle I stopped officially counting. This is getting freaky... my TOM started 2 days early this month, but its a little over a week early from a couple months ago. It is crazy that our bodies are on pretty much the same schedule. I hope that once it starts your body will release some of that water! lunkah Hiii! Congrats on being half way there already!!! gardenerjoy Hopefully drinking extra water does the trick! ange You are doing so well!! I wouldn't say for sure that you are leveling out until you go for another couple weeks at the same weight. Everytime I think of eating something off plan I think of your pictures!! Gardenerjoy Thanks for getting it started! How’s your garden looking? I intended to plant tomatoes a month ago and just haven’t made it happen.
Momtopands I think everyone went out to eat this weekend, so you’re in good company. Lol. What time of day are you walking? I’m so over the work eating/drinking. We have one person who has made it her personal mission to stock candy in our office, which I hate. I haven’t touched the candy bowl in over a month, and I might just ban it. My coworker has diabetes and has a hard time with the constant accessibility of sweets. :/ Ange82much Leveling out is good! To me, it means the new weight is real. Totally frustrating, but good. Kfunk6113 Happy Tuesday! Can you drink my gallon of water for me? ;) Nicoley73 Nice numbers! You’re starting the month super strong. Flower1 10 lbs, you’re so close! Ophelia Your weekend sounds like it was super fun! I’m still working on control when I’m out socially, but I need to get it dialed in quick. Summer is approaching! Slimmer me How did the weekend go for you? Jayden Nice job on the two lb loss! Nightowlrn First of all, I’m so impressed by your biking endurance. I’m working back up from a 6 month break. I used to bike 40 miles on either Saturdays or Sundays on our bike trial by the river, to Old Sacramento and back. I did 15 miles this past weekend and um wow. Lost my endurance quick. How many miles were you doing a day? Chunkah Way to start the month off! Are you going to try and go above your goal if you make it by next week? I’d probably be lower today if I hadn’t gone a little bit over on cinco de mayo, but I’m fine with that. I had a meal all planned out, but they got my order wrong and I was famished. I ate what they gave me with that and went over plan. Not outrageously so, just about 200 cal. Then yesterday I went on a 15-mile bike ride, which was fabulous. Lots of walking on Saturday for our lacrosse games (the field was faaaaaar from the parking lot). Overall, I feel good about the weekend. I think I’ll hit 176 in the early part of the week. SnowMama - I usually ride a roadie 10-30 miles as many days a week that I can in the spring, summer, and fall. I am glad to find another rider here.
The Katy Trail ride was about 40-50 miles a day for 5 days -- on my tour bike, on gravel, and fully packed with tent, clothes, bag, cook stove, etc. I estimated I was burning at least 2000 cals extra a day and I tried to keep my intake 1500 (around my daily minimal needs) plus all the water I could possibly drink. So, I was just shocked to see the gain rather than a few pounds lost. I returned May 1 and my weight was the same as when I left !!! humph... I noted my feet and hands were a bit puffy too. Anyway, starting May 5, I have weighed a pound less every morning and I can't pass up a bathroom opportunity to pee. So, I guess it was the stress that caused my body to hold on to the water. Very interesting. I am also limiting my intake to 1200 cals and riding 10-20 a day, so there is that too. Belize --- here I come! |

I'm away from the scales for a couple of days now. I have to fly to Melbourne today to be cross examined in court the rest of the week for a big patent case where our competitors are trying to say one of our patents is invalid. I was involved with all the initial testing and trialling of the subject in the patent back in 2002. I have about 2000 pages of evidence to read today that I've not quite got round to learning before (and have forgotten the contents of first-hand since it was all 16 years ago!), so feeling a bit under-prepared, but should be able to get some reading done today and on the flight.... Nightowlrn The Katy sounds great. I love getting away for a few days and carrying my tent etc (on foot in my case) I just get the big endorphin rush as soon as I head outside and know i'm away in the fresh air for a few days. ange Congrats on the little whoosh! Getting there!
Snowmama Small drop in the right direction is always good! I walk and do my boot camp workout in the mornings around 9 am unless I have an early appointment and then i'll do it later. I'd like to start going earlier because summer is coming in GA and by 9 or 10 am it will be way too hot to be walking without heat stroke, lol. kfunk Nice whoosh! You're really on a roll! nicoley Glad you got to keep your loss! Jayden Congrats on that week one loss! Very nice! Ophelia Darn TOM! Frustrating but only temporary! Praying for a whoosh! Today was not a good day for me stresswise. Had an issue with my bank that left me running around all day and on the phone trying to get them to fix things and by the end of the day I was just done. Isn't funny how other people's errors are not any kind of priority when your finances are affected. Anyway things are mostly worked out, though i'm having to pay for the mistakes of others, I only ate a yogurt for breakfast and then nothing else all day until I got home at 6:30. Thankfully my blood sugar was fine and I didn't overeat. My most proud moment was that I did my boot camp workout and even took a short walk to help calm me down and focus on the positive. I am feeling better than earlier and praying that tomorrow will be a better day. Thanks, kfunk! I've been slacking with weight loss for a long time now (since last fall). My mind's been elsewhere and I got complacent about my weight, didn't feel driven to shed these last 20 pounds. I'm in the zone now though and really want to get off at least half of that by the end of July. (I move to start a PhD program in August!)
Snowmama - If I meet goal early, I'll definitely make another bonus goal. I think that's only happened to me once before. I lose so slowly. 200 over on Cinco de Mayo is great! On the days I go over, I'm usually over around 500 (or more calories). I'm working on reigning that in, but it can be tricky for me when socializing is involved. Good luck, all, and great work! |
gardenerjoy: I hope the extra water will help flush out the Chipotle sodium for you soon! :crossed:
nicoley73: That's what we saw on Saturday...and, I agree that it was very good! Jayden: Nice work! :) kfunk: I ended up drinking a tiny bit more than a gallon both yesterday and the day before, so it worked -- I'm glad it worked for you, as well! :yay: I'm going to try to keep this up, especially with TOM in town now, to see if I can get a whoosh sometime this week. And, it is weird that our schedules have been pretty much the same for awhile now! It's nice to have someone to commiserate with, though. Here's to post-TOM whooshes for us both, and nice drop for you today! SnowMama: I always feel like summer is the ultimate motivator in having a deadline for getting on track! :sunny: And, wow...a 15 mile bike ride! That's awesome! :cp: I'm the only one in the house (other than our toddler, lol) that doesn't have a bike -- I need to change that. I miss having one! Nightowlrn: I was just telling SnowMama that I need to finally get a bike after not having one for yeeeears, and your reply to her was even more incentive to have that on my to-get list! :bike: ange82much: Congrats on the mini-whoosh! You're doing amazing. :cheer3: Best of luck with the case, by the way! momtopands: I'm sorry you had such a stressful day yesterday, but glad that it was mostly settled out by the end of the day. Still, so frustrating to have to do all of that due to someone else's error! Great job refocusing that negative energy into something positive and using it to get in a workout instead! :yay: And, I'm glad that today has already been better! Chunkah: Thank you, I'm hoping it goes smoothly as well! :crossed: ----------------------------------------- Weigh-in was down a smidge to 183.0 yesterday and was down a bit more to 182.2 today. TOM has also started, as expected. I managed to hit my one gallon (a little more than 4L) water goal both yesterday and the day before, so I think that is helping to move my numbers back down, despite the bloated feeling from TOM. I love reading everyone's stories. Ange82 - I hope the depo goes well.
RE - bike riding. What I love about riding is that I really can't stop or give up when I am on a ride. I HAVE to get back home somehow  So, I ride away from home and not in a circle. That way, I find I get more miles in. My riding area is a series of hills, which is great for cardio and HITT. I also like it because the time just flies by as I look at things and try not to fall over. The Katy Trail was a stretch for me because of the gravel and weight of my stuff, but the distance was fine. I did it solo and met a few challenges along the way and was proud I never gave up, even though twice I almost called my husband for a rescue. I really didn't "train." If you can ride 20 miles in 2 hours, you can ride about anywhere for any distance. You just take breaks and you get where you need to go eventually. |
Really no reason for this! It's why dieting is so hard - and why I give up so frequently. But my night classes finished early, so I should be able to do better and eat a real dinner instead of a random assortment of things. Although my parents come in next week for a week, and that makes it harder, because I'm sure we will go out to eat a few times.

Momtopands I am glad that yesterday was much better! I hope that your allergist can help you figure out what is going on!
Lunkah – do you have a plan to tackle the last 20 lbs? That would be awesome to have half gone by the time you are busy with your PHD program. Ophelia- I ended up drinking less water the past 2 days, so today I am dedicating myself to another gallon challenge. I bounced back up a full pound today and think it’s because I had some chips and salsa last night. Nice drop, hopefully the numbers will keep moving down for you! Nightowlrn- Oh boy, I think hills would be a huge problem for me hahah!! I haven’t been on a bike in YEARS though. That is encouraging that the distance wasn’t the issue, great job on making it on your own and not calling your hubby!! Nicoley- I went up a full lb. today even though my WW points were below my max. I think mine is water retention from a salty dinner. Please don’t give up, even though the scale is being stubborn; you will probably end up with a whoosh soon! Sw: 169.4 cw: 163.2(-6.2) gw: 157.8 |

Slight bump up but i'll take that as normal fluctuations.

kfun - re hills. I HATE hills. My screen shot is a hill and bike with the saying "Its just a hill - get over it." There is one hill that I had to do the walk of shame when I was 200+. I still have a picture on my phone of me sitting in the middle of it taking a break. A home owner came out and asked if I needed anything. LOL - I asked him if he could take off 50 pounds of me. The following year, I lost that 50 pounds! I gained back 15, which I am working to get off again, but I can get up the hill without stopping now. It still isn't easy and I HATE IT, but I can get over it now.
I look at a 12 pack case of coke and it weights 10 pounds. When I think of carrying around those extra pounds of cases on my *** before I lost the weight...no wonder I couldn't get up the hill. |
Momtopands Nice job staying on track through stress. I would totally come help you with your garden if I were closer. 😊
Ange82much Woo hoo, goal is inches away! Hope everything goes well in court and the scale welcomes you back. Kfunk6113 Mmm, chips and salsa. I didn’t think about sodium and water retention, that may have contributed to a couple of my stalls. Sodium, not chips and salsa. I’ll have to look at my intake correlated with weight. I haven’t been eating chips, but my packaged salads are fairly high in sodium. This requires additional research. Nicoley73 Don’t give up, you got this. Can you try and figure out which restaurants you might go out to and plan possible meals ahead of time? Might be hard to want to plan if you just got done with night school, but that’s the only way I can do it and not feel like I’m blowing my plan. Ophelia Biking makes me feel like a kid again. You need a bike! Biking is the only time I can drink as much water as you. Lol. Nightowlrn Tour bike on gravel?! That sounds like an accident for me. When I was riding before, I would lose a lb or two per 40-mile ride. Now when I ride I don’t lose. And I’m eating much less and much healthier. I haven’t figured out the formula yet, but I will. How did you get back on the bike after day one, much less day three?? Ha ha. Chunkah Socializing is my problem too – eating and talking and drinking and eating more and drinking more. Allergies are kicking back up and I've been itchy, sneezy and tired all week. I usually get a burst of energy on Thursdays, but it's not happening. Planning to ride on Sunday before my Mother's Day brunch. I really did plan my meal already and I cannot wait. Must be dinnertime, because I can't stop talking about food. Lol. Hi,
I just joined this forum today because I was hoping to find a thread like this & would love to join! I am currently 176.2 and want to make 7 lbs my goal by 6/1 because that would get me into the 160s. I lost 130 lbs in 2007-08 and maintained a weight that fluctuated between 138-148 until about 2 years ago. I am having a hard time getting the scale to move down more than a few lbs (& then I gain it all back+). I am hoping the support and check-ins enable me to be more consistent, make more and maintain more progress. For now, my goal overall goal is to get back to 138. That wasn't an ideal weight for me, but I figure I will get back to where I was and then take it from there. :) Thank you, |
