Weekend thread
I can't believe that it is already Friday! I am making these threads for the weekend to help keep me on track. Anyone is welcome to join me!
I am really anxious to get to my goal, I want to be as strict as possible to see if that speeds things up. I have had 9 WW points (get 23 a day) so far today and am trying to figure out what I want to eat for dinner. I have my first official WW weigh in tomorrow so I am excited! We don't have very much planned this weekend so that is in my favor. We have had a few low key weekends in a row now, very unusual!! |
Hi kfunk and kay
Ok, my challenge for the weekend is that today is my 50th birthday (Saturday)! Some celebrating to be done. Tomorrow morning i'm on a couple of flights and go away for work for either one week or two weeks (depending on a customer-schedule for the second week), so this is all going to be a bit tricky to negotiate. I think my target will be to not gain until I get back home. Wish me luck. |
Well, this time I remembered the weekend thread. I had changed my weigh in day from Monday to Friday, thinking it would make a difference. Joke's on me. For whatever reason, I had a mini binge yesterday so I'm back up a pound today. I just can't win.
I really did well today, back on track. I'm starting to get a little hungry but I have some tuna salad left over from my dinner so I think I will eat that. Protein and lettuce. I didn't drink enough water today but I'm so cold I don't want water. I want hot tea. Kfunk, I'm keeping good thought for you that you have a good first WW weigh in!! |
kay I'm glad that you are joining me again! The great thing about your water gains is that they should whoosh away soon, drink tons of water to help speed things along! I hate the days that I gain for no reason. It seems to happen a couple different times throughout my monthly cycle.
ange :celebrate::bday2you::woo: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope that you had a great one! Traveling is always so hard. I really like your goal of maintaining until you get back home. You can do this!! All the good choices add up, no matter how small they seem! carol I am glad that you remembered the thread!! I am sorry to hear about your mini binge, but excellent job turning it around today!! I hear you on the cold, I am so over winter!! Your tuna salad sounds really good!! Do you put anything else in it other than lettuce and tuna? Thank you for your positive vibes with my weigh in tomorrow! I am all done eating for the day. I came in right at 23 points, and was able to have a subway sandwich, first time in a very long time and it did not disappoint! Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs with salsa pineapple chunks, honeydew and cantaloupe chunks Lunch: homemade pizza with mozzarella cheese celery sticks Snack: banana Dinner: 6 inch Tuna sub on 9 grain bread I would really like to work out at some point this weekend so I think that will be my goal! |
Happy to join everyone this weekend:) I don't have much planned other than maybe sort through some more clutter (it seems to be never ending ...) Tonight for dinner is chicken and veggies. I went for a 4 mile walk today which included several hills so got a pretty good workout. I'm planning another walk tomorrow with a walking group and we might be doing 5 miles.
kfunk: good luck at your weigh-in tomorrow! ange - happy birthday! wannabehealthy - good for you for getting right back on plan kay - that is so annoying when you gain for no reason I hope everyone has a great weekend. |
Happy Birthday, Ange!!
Kfunk, my tuna salad was from a restaurant. They have very good tuna salad. They put chopped celery and hard boiled eggs in it, with not a lot of mayo. I don't like it soupy. You can get it as a tuna salad sandwich, or like I order it, generously scooped high on a bed of salad greens, strips of green pepper and sliced cucumbers. It's a very big salad. We eat early, around 4, so I like to eat half of it at the restaurant, then bring the rest home to eat later on when/if I get hungry. When I make tuna salad at home I don't put the hard boiled egg in it because DH doesn't like it that way. One thing I like about this salad. I don't put any dressing on it because I just have a bit of tuna salad with each bite of salad. Saves me some calories. |
flower hiii!! Great job on your big walk, hills kill me! I hope your walk today goes well! I LOVE de-cluttering!! It makes me so happy to get rid of things we no longer need, feels liberating!
kay good morning!! carol that tuna salad sounds amazing!! I am going to make some this weekend. It should be pretty low in points! How is your day going so far? Thanks for all the good vibes for my WW in. I ended up with a 3.8 loss for the first week, but the weight I started at was a bit heavier at the time due to water retention. We are off to run errands now, hopefully we will only be gone for a few hours though. I am going to bring a banana just in case I get hungry. I feel very satisfied at the moment! |
Kay thank you! Lol it took me a minute to figure out what you meant...I really like “falling back” much better than “springing ahead”
We are still out running errands. On a whim we stopped and toured the YMCA and ended up with a family membership. |
kfunk - congrats on your WW weigh-in - great jobhttp://s5.tinypic.com/29dzhom_th.jpg
kay - I laughed out loud (lol) about the 1 less hour to eat this weekend I just did a 2-mile walk today instead of a 5-miler. |
flower Thank you! Great job on getting in 2 miles, that's 2 miles more than I did ;)
Kay The Y membership will be perfect for this week since we are on spring break. I am hoping that we will get a lot of use out of it in the summer, but we do have the option to put it on hold because we will probably be spending a lot of time out on the lake instead. We went after supper last night to swim and it was fun, I came home and went to bed right after the kids! Great job hitting your calorie range! The scale is so fickle, hopefully you can see the differences in the way your clothing fits and how you are feeling until the scale decides to cooperate. Yesterday I hit 23 points exactly: Breakfast: fresh fruit 4 scrambled eggs with salsa coffee with almond milk and 2 tablespoons of coffee creamer Lunch: 2 fresco chicken tacos chips and cheese Dinner: Tuna wrap celery sticks Snack: banana |
Today has been good so far. My water consumption is on track and I did 45 minutes on the treadmill. We are going to eat finner and then take the kids swimming.
I hope that everyone is having a strong finish to their weekends! |
kay thank you!! 3 miles a day is really good and also, you did an awesome job of keeping your calories on point! Glad to hear that the water retention is making its way out!
My weekend finished up pretty well, so hopefully can keep that rolling throughout the week! |
Hi Kay and kfunk. You ladies sound like you did quite well on the weekend. I don't think I did as well - I got into the chocolate almonds. However, these were sugar-free choc almonds so I felt a bit better about eating them. I might work on not having sugar free choc almonds as often. Previously when I wasn't eating anything with sugar in it, I didn't buy any sugar-free candy at all and I just relied on eating a piece of fruit to satisfy my cravings and it worked really well. I find that even when I eat sugar-free I still get cravings for something sweet. I think this is because it is still sweet and I think it is best to rely on a piece of fruit instead. However, this time around, I didn't want to be quite as strict with myself.
Having said all that, I found a recipe for sugar-free gummy bears. The only ingredients in this recipe are sugar-free jello, plain gelatin and water. I will let you know how they turn out, but first I have to find some gummy bear molds:) |
flower For what its worth, I agree on being less strict with yourself, just look at how far you have come!! I especially think that since this is a way of life now! You will have to let us know how the SF gummy bears turn out!! I love the idea of 3 simple ingredients!
|
I forgot to make a new thread this weekend and since it is almost over I thought I would just add on to this one.
Today was a good day. I had a good workout at the gym and my points were much better than yesterday. I went 3 over today. Yesterday started out as a great day and then by dinnertime I fell of the tracks. I brushed myself off and put it behind me. Tomorrow I plan on getting in a longer workout and staying under my point limit. I am hoping that the water weight drops off very soon!! |
kfunk great that you picked yourself right back up again today! Nice work
Good weekend for me so far. Especially good since on Friday morning I thought I was going to be away working for the weekend, but at the last minute plans got cancelled and I got to come home instead :) Spent Saturday pottering around the house really, and went to the football last night. Today we've been painting the floors in the bedroom and ensuite (they were wooden boards painted black, so we've given them a re-coat of black with a matt varnish on top. Next coat of varnish due at 7pm. The scales are being nice to me, and eating's been on plan, so all good. It's a bit hot though 100F+ today, which is unusual for the back end of March. |
Hi everyone. I, too, wondered where the weekend thread was, but I am not good about keeping up with posting. I did well over the weekend. I am going to try out alternating 1 meal a day and 2 meals a day in an effort to quit the darn snacking that bites me in the butt every time. For now, I plan to do this for 2 weeks, until Apr 1, Easter, and then reevaluate at that time to see if I want to continue. I am hoping that this IF helps lower my insulin levels and improves my diabetes.
I'm also hoping to get back to exercising on a regular basis. I think I say that every week! LOL Kfunk, maybe we could just continue on with the same weekend thread instead of starting a new one each weekend. That would take the pressure off you to remember to start a new one. We could all just come here on the weekends. What do you think? |
ange Thank you! That is awesome that plans got cancelled and you were able to stay home. I love the way that fresh paint looks, it is a lot of work though, I bet it will turn out great! Great job staying on plan and even better that the scale is behaving!! That is HOT, does it come with humidity or is it a dry heat?
kay You totally could have added on to the thread on Friday, it wouldn't have been a downer at all!!! I think that it is really awesome that you have been sticking to your plan even though the scale is being frustrating. A couple years back I started a workout routine and was very good for about 7 weeks, and in that time the scale didn't budge but my body changed a lot and I looked a lot different for the better. You are eating on plan and I wasn't so I am sure it won't take that long for you to see the scale move. When I am in the process of going down a size the scale won't budge, maybe that is what is going on with you? That is awesome that your shirts are getting baggy!! Hopefully some of the food substitutions will shake things up! I love cucumbers and pickles! carol I have heard so many good things about IF, I hope that it works well for you and you notice a difference in your insulin and blood sugar levels! Our family joined the YMCA last weekend so we have been going to work out and then after we take the kids swimming. I am excited to go back today! I think that would be a great idea!! Is there any way to modify the title of the post to get rid of the "#3" so it just says weekend thread? Yesterday ended up being a good day all around. I got a good workout in and was able to resist some cookies that looked really good. I just told my husband that he needs to make the rest disappear, don't care if he throws them away or eats them, they just need to be gone. As I was in the middle of posting this I started to feel really groggy and tired, I felt drugged. I went back and looked at the counter and realized I took one of my husbands sleeping pills instead of my thyroid medication. I can't believe I did that, I'm an idiot!! |
I finished up the day strong with my points (1 under) so that's good. I didn't get enough water in though. I ended up taking a long nap to get the sleep meds out of my system and then that left no time to go work out. We are scrambling to get the kids ready for school and getting the house in order!
I hope that everyone finished the weekend off strong!! |
kay I hear you on the antihistamines. I don't know how people can take Benadryl and function, I can still feel the effects of it the next day. Look at you rocking the weekends :carrot: you are good!!
|
The weekend for me sort of starts tonight (Thursday). Friends are taking us out to a mystery restaurant to celebrate both mine and DH 50th birthdays (our birthdays are 6 months apart and both gone by, but we're not complaining). So tonight will definitely be more calories than i'm used to. That's ok.
Then on Friday afternoon i'm setting off for a weekend away with the girls to a wine region about 3hrs drive away, for a mini-break. There's 4 of us and we'll do a bit of walking and exploring, but also a bit of winery visiting and drinking, so it's going to be tricky to manage the calories there too I think! My plan is to be as sensible as reasonably possible - i.e. just make the best choices I can as I go. Luckily i'll be the one driving, so a good excuse to skip the wine part at least. |
kay I am excited for the next leg of the challenge, glad to see that you have joined!! How has your week been so far? I am back down to my lowest after 2 off plan days last week!
ange Happy belated birthday!!! I hope you guys enjoyed your dinner out! Your trip sounds wonderful, I hope you have a great time!!! You did SO well traveling last week, no doubt you will be able to keep making sensible choices and also enjoy yourself! |
Hi Kfunk. I have edited the thread title to just say Weekend Thread, and we can continue to just add on to it every weekend.
I am laid up with a bum foot. I had tendonitis in the left foot and after that healed I stopped wearing my orthotics. Big mistake, because now I'm having the same issue with the right foot and I can't find my orthotics. So off to the store I go. I will find them after I buy new ones. |

I have a TON of work to catch up on, not looking forward to that. I also have a few things to do around the house and would like to make working out a high priority as well. Hopefully I will have enough energy to work out tonight after work and I know the kids would love to go swimming after! |
Kay I have always admired people who get their chores or other obligations out of the way early in the day. I am the opposite, not a morning person at all and I am a big procrastinator!!
Had a good, fast paced workout on the treadmill tonight and then hung out in the pool for a while. My points were good, water was good and got a workout - trifecta! Now I need a good night sleep!! |
kay :carrot::carrot: 5 days in a row is awesome, look at you go!!! Good job hitting the weights nice and early!!
I need to incorporate a weight lifting routine, but for now will just focus on walking.. I don't want to do too much too soon because exercise is something that I am notorious for quitting! We will be out in about all darn day today. We are leaving in about an hour to go run errands and go visit my inlaws. When we get back we will either go to the Y to go swimming with the kids or it will be too late and I will try to get in the 30 Day Shred video. I have about 8-10 hours of computer work to do and will need to fit that in somewhere. I hope that everyone is having a great start to their Saturday!! |
kay It sounds like you are kicking butt with your calorie and exercise goals, it definitely helps to keep me dedicated so thank you!! I hope the coffee helps perk you up, I didn't remember to drink mine yesterday and I could really tell with how much yawning I was doing!
I was able to sleep in again, which is the "me time" you were referring to ;) I went over by 2 point yesterday but I still have a ton of weekly points left. I am up 1.2 lbs. from yesterday morning and I am attributing that to a very sodium filled dinner last night. Today I am going to log in and get that work done and then hopefully we will go to the Y in the late afternoon. I did not get a workout in yesterday. I will be really focusing on chugging water today! I hope that everyone is having a nice Sunday!! |
I had a great weekend - had a girls weekend away in a local wine region and staying at a resort hotel next to town. Luckily we were all walkers, so we managed to get some walking in amongst the wine tasting. Alcohol was responsible for far too many calories this weekend, but also specialities of the region that we had to sample included, olives, olive oil, honey, cheese and fruits etc etc, so whereas we didn't really over-indulge at mealtimes (other than alcohol, did I mention that?), we did a fair bit of 'grazing'. Anyway, bizarrely the scales have taken all this in their stride and decided to drop another 1lb in the process, so i'll take that, and perhaps not get on them for another few days so I don't have to know any other story!
|
sooooo. 4-days Easter break starts tomorrow night. Hurray!!!
What has everyone got planned? Quite modest for me and should be ok food-wise. I'm out trekking for the day on Friday, then date night with hubby, hitting the shops to find something for my mum's 90th birthday present on Saturday, we've got friends (who like to eat and drink lots) coming to ours for a long boozy lunch on Sunday, so this will be the biggest challenge of the weekend diet-wise. And not much on Monday (jobs around the house probably - we've just painted bedroom and got new furniture, so still have to sort out the old stuff, hang pictures, maybe buy nik naks etc, and argue about a large palm plant in the bedroom that I like and hubby doesn't so I want it to stay and he wants it to go!). |
Good morning ladies :grouphug:
kay My husband is like you and gets little sleep. I don't know how he functions because I am still sleepy if I get 10 hours! That is awesome that you "threw away" your extra calories :carrot: I also refuse to give up my coffee (until I get pregnant), it makes my mornings sooooo much better!!! I hope that you are able to figure out your signature stuff.. I do know that it wont update for a few hours, so even if you can't see what you did it *should* show later. Did you end up making it 7 days in a row with your step count?! ange I hope you enjoy your 4 day break!!! A date night sounds amazing!! I hope that your mom has a great bday and you enjoy the time with your friends! Your comment about the palm plant made me smile, I hope you win! have 3 days off and don't have a lot planned. On Friday I am babysitting a 2 year old and a 4 year old, so with 4 total I should have my hands full!! My 6.5 year old will be a super helper though! Then on Sunday we are going to my inlaws for Easter. When I think back to last Easter's train wreck there is only room for improvement haha!! I do hope that I can do a better job getting my workouts in this weekend. We only made it to the Y last Friday, this time I am hoping for 2 out of the 3. |
kay I even need to take a nap on the weekends and that is after I get that much sleep! I hope that yesterdays' weather wasn't too nasty and that your day ended up being less stressful than you thought. Aren't you glad that all of your hard work and persistence paid off?! Congrats again on entering Onederland!!
I am taking the opportunity to post while the kids are sleeping. I have 13 points left today and I am not yet sure what I will eat for dinner. I don't want to pick anything too high in sodium because I want to see if I can drop a little more for the last day of the month. We baked and decorated cookies today and I was able to stay away from them, didn't even lick the frosting off of my fingers! Saturday should be pretty low key and then we are going to my inlaw's house for Easter. I hope that everyone else has a nice weekend!! |
kay Thank you and I bow to you for your fitness achievements!! You have been doing so, so well!!!!
Even if you see a bounce back up, with all the consistency, you will end up whooshing down when your body decides its time. I have said this a lot, but I have 2 weeks per month where I don't lose even when I am perfectly on plan, but that might be different for me because I am not a workout beast like you are!! Today we are going to run errands again, surprise surprise! I am going to eat a big meal before we go and then bring my coffee, a banana and protein bar with me just in case. It also snowed a lot last night so looks like the Easter Bunny will be hiding eggs inside this year! |
Happy Easter everyone, or a Blessed Passover, whichever one applies. I am NOT going to be staying on plan today! LOL
Back to it tomorrow. |
Hi ladies!
I don’t have time to share the details but I had a horrible, horrible weekend. Up 7, SEVEN lbs. I have a super stressful week ahead of me so probably won’t have time to post much but I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Easter. Kay- you are amazing!!! |
So, does the weekend start today? If so, I am starting off well on plan and hope to continue.
Kfunk, I hope you get the issues worked out and are soon back here and on track. |
Hey ladies! I hope that everyone has been doing well. I am so glad that my week is over, but I do work tomorrow as well. Very busy and very stressful. I have 2 lbs. to lose to get back to where I was before my binges last weekend. I have stayed on plan all week and continue to do so throughout the weekend.
Kay. Thank you! How have you been doing? Wannabehealthy. Thank you! How did your day go? |
kay Thank you . It sounds like you are doing amazing like usual! It is really cool that you are banking so many calories and then not using them up. It is so nice waking up without a hangover, I have never been able to get the hang of drinking enough for a buzz, but not too much because I almost always end up wasted. Last weekend the sugar hangover was just as bad as an alcohol hangover, I was so excited to eat a vegetable after that haha!! I am surprised that I got rid of it that fast because that is usually not the case. The scale can be so frustrating, but great job on your tick downwards! When I am bound up I chug water like nobodies business and that usually does the trick. You might be in for quite the whoosh when you get rid of it!!
I got home from work a little bit ago and now get to enjoy the rest of the weekend! I had a cup of rice, shrimp and mixed vegetables for dinner with some frozen grapes for desert. I was 164.4 this morning, so 1 lb. away from last Saturday's weight. Tomorrow we are going to my dads house but wont be eating a meal over there so that will help. |
kay good morning!! I just woke up and am waiting for my thyroid medicine to settle before I join you in having a cup of coffee! YES, to catch a glimpse the night before would be amazing because no matter how much I remind myself of how awful I will feel the next day I don't listen!!! I hope that you get some regularity soon!! It used to be daily for me and now I can go 2-3 days without and I hate it!! Good job on increasing your calories yesterday and major props for 21 days in a row :carrot::carrot::carrot: You are wonderwoman! How are your clothes fitting lately?
I am trying to decide if I want eggs only for breakfast - 0 points or if I want to add in hashbrowns to beef it up - 6 points. The only thing making me waiver is that the hashbrowns take forever to cook!! I am going to bring some fruits and vegetables with me to my dads so that I don't graze on the snacks they bring out. Now to figure out what dinner will be when we get home... |
kay I opted for the hashbrowns and they didn't disappoint!! I also don't like the sweet potatoes, but all other forms are delicious!! Its so funny where the weight decides to come off of!! If you were to look at me from the collarbones up it looks like I will be sick if I lose any more weight, but I have sooooo much flab in every other place of my body, can't it PLEASE come off of there instead?!
Great job finishing your weekend strong!!! We ended up eating dinner there after all which was unexpected, but I only snacked on plain celery prior to. We had a really good chicken chili with homemade corn bread. I normally don't like cornbread but it had maple butter with it and it was really good. I ate 1.5 pieces and then left the rest and had 1 small bowl of chili. I hope that you are still kicking butt ( I know you are!) |
kay Bread products are a weakness of mine, so for the most part I try to stay away from them, but sometimes nothing else will do! With the way that time flies your bday will be here before you know it!! I am also a June baby, the 10th, what day is yours? I have to say your dedication to fitness is a huge inspiration for me, keep going girl!!
