Thanks workinglikeadog, good to see you too. You're doing really well and your mileage for 2017 is very impressive:). You're right, depression makes it very tough to feel motivated. I've been off track for about 5 months and thought coming back to this site may help to motivate me with my eating and exercise. I am a bit annoyed with myself because for the past several months I basically was undoing all the hard work I put in to lose the weight in the first place .... It's sure a lot harder to lose the weight than to gain it.
Got out for a walk yesterday and today so I feel that's a good start. Hopefully I will be down a bit for tomorrow's weigh-in. |
Well it has been a tough 2 weeks but I am down so far 1.8 this week so I am hoping I pick up momentum again.
Weight loss is tough for many of us (post menopausal grandmother) so glad we are all struggling together. Riestrella, take care of yourself. Flower1 welcome to the challenge. |
I took a long break but I feel I need a focus which I am hoping is this forum again,At my highest again 175lbs and feeling defeated, trip to Florida in late Jan 2018 and i am so uncomfortable with myself.Riestrella best of luck to you.

Merowi2 ~ Welcome. I am a PA girl, too - in South Central PA - York.
By the time your trip to Florida arrives, you should be feeling 100% better! flower1 ~ Depression does take its toll on me, too. As we soon enter the winter solstice, I am conjuring up the pic of me as a caterpillar, just hibernating, just doing it = following my weight loss program without any excuses...to emerge in the spring with a reasonable weight loss, lighter and happier! Hang it there everyone! It is 12/3, let's not say 12/31 that we didn't accomplish this one small goal! grannynancy ~ Super happy for you! Are you still following the tenets of Bright Line Eating? I am abiding by my no sugar, no flour rule, but still need to watch my binge eating! workinglikeadog ~ "one foot in front of the other" - that's the ticket. I would add "away from the kitchen!" |
Doing a quick check-in for the weekly weigh-in...down to 219.6 today, so this week did end up helping balance out the slow week last week due to that little bump up at the end, as expected/hoped. For that, I am grateful. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! :grouphug:

grannynancy - thanks for the welcome and congrats on your loss this week:) How are you finding the Bright Line plan? I gained 19 of my 45 lbs back when I started eating sugar and gluten again so I'm cutting it out again to get back to my goal. Cutting out sugar is key for me.
MorningGlory1950 - you are doing great and I can relate to your comment about hibernating. It's inspiring to see your success while struggling with depression. I'm hoping I can do the same. I'm doing the no-sugar thing too. |
I'm up .2 this week. I hope next week goes a little better.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3.../lucecitas.gifhttp://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3.../lucecitas.gif Hi Everyone! I only got to the gym once this week. I got most of my exercise this week walking, while volunteering at the Therapeutic Horseback Riding Ctr. I got in 7 miles on Saturday. I didn't plan on that much activity on Saturday, but sometimes circumstances just present to make you work a little harder. Guess I need all the help I can get, LOL. When something pushes me to do more, I have to see it as a golden opportunity. I went to a potluck today. They had a lot of food and I had to come home with most of the meatballs I made. Oh well, it forced me to locate my crock pot and now it's ready for future use. My dog likes the meatballs and had some mixed with her dry food for dinner. Flower1: Welcome! I'm glad you joined us and I hope that this challenge can successfully jumpstart you towards losing the 19 lbs. I'm very sorry that you struggle with depression. I know that battle and can empathize. Grannynancy: A 1.8 pound loss is great! Success for me won't be about how fast I can lose weight, but about eliminating or greatly reducing being a human yo yo. Huckle: I'm glad you had a good day. Those good days can duplicate. Not always in a straight line, but each good day sets the pace for better ones to come. Magistra17: I'm glad you got in a couple of naps. Adequate sleep does help with weight loss and brain health. I've heard that those who lack sleep on a regular basis are more prone to dementia. There is a new week ahead with new opportunities. Merowi2: Welcome to the challenge! Glad you joined us. Sounds like you have a nice trip to look forward to, that can be a good motivator. I put your name on the weigh-in sheet at 175. MorningGlory1950: Congrats on losing 2 pounds this week! I'm sorry the store didn't provide you with any helpful video. You are right, we have time to put a "dent" in our weight loss goals by the end of the year, LOL. December will be gone before we know it. In addition to impromptu, I need to be careful what I plan, LOL. Opheliaphoenix: Wow! 4.2 lb. loss for this week - congrats! Riestrella: Best wishes to you! I will miss you. I think most of us have had times when we have had to step away from a challenge. I hope things improve for you, that you enjoy the holiday season and that 2018 brings good things for you! Workinglikeadog: For some weeks, staying even can be an accomplishment. When it's cold, it can take extra motivation to get out and walk. Hopefully it isn't too cold in Eastern Oregon. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ntleWreath.gif http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...S/Snowgirl.png |
Flower1 and Morningglory1950. Yes I am still following the tenets of bright line eating.
I *will* use sugar in cooking in small quantities, as in Asian sauces and am "violating" by using 2 oz dried apricots as 6 oz of fruit after doing the math and figuring it has less sugar and more fiber than 6oz banana. I know dried fruits are a no no but I think the potassium is more important to me. Gluten is allowed on the plan (like in tofurkey and seitan) but I have found it increases my cravings so I don't mess with it. I think getting rid of bread entirely has been a major thing for me. I was never a "sugar" person but I could live off of pretzels and other breads if allowed. I enjoy the steady weight loss more than I miss the foods I craved. Hunger is so much more controllable without them! |

Below are the stats for the 12-3-17 Weigh In. Congrats to everyone for their accomplishments! We have a new week, with new opportunities. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...fc-12-3-17.png |

munchey: thanks for the welcome and thanks for doing this thread. Congrats on your loss this week:)
grannynancy: great job this week gemini6: I have the same problem of bloating with gluten. You are doing great - congrats on getting into wonderland. |
Hello to all! I went to WW today and all is not well. I gained 3 pounds!!! The new program rolled out this week. I have stayed away from sugar and flour since 11/15, but I am wondering if too much salt and portion distortion are the culprits.
I will track accurately this week, weighing and measuring everything and hope this is a temporary blooper! Knowing I did not binge makes me think that is so. I am determined to get through this holiday season in a wonderful frame of mind (and body)! Congrats to all the winners and "strivers" and survivors this week. Never give up! |
Morningglory - I recall reading that those who are successful at losing weight and keeping it off are those who persist. And persist and persist. The whole turtle thing. This is not easy stuff but is changing our relationship with diet and exercise. This has been a good week so far. Have a Christmas party hurdle but already know what is being served and "have a plan". Focus will be on people not food.
