So sorry to hear about everyone's car trouble!

I am way up this week, but so is my husband so he is on board to do better in the future. Need to get to Onederland and set my next major goal.

Hey Everyone:
I've kept a file of weight-loss hints, for over the years. I find it helpful to revisit these files, as I need a refresher course, LOL. I found the hint below, from "The Biggest Loser Show". Thought I'd share it.

Get rid of the Guilt. People trying to lose weight often have a lot of guilt. They’ll eat something like a piece of cake, and then feel guilty about it. They’ll drag that cake issue so it ruins their day, and then the next day. That’s a huge mistake! If you’re going to have the cake – really have the cake! Enjoy it, eat it with vigor and pleasure and just let it be.

I try to do this, and at the same time try to lessen my calories for the day at some other meal time or snack. I figure this is a better way for me to eat for a lifetime. TFS

opheliaphoenix 11-26-2017 04:03 PM

Well, I was down to 222.8 yesterday, but it's that time of the month (TOM), so I bloated back up to 223.8 today for the weekly weigh-in...go figure, lol. So, it's only showing a 0.4 lb loss for the week. Oh well. Hoping next week will be a better drop after TOM is out of town!

magistra17 11-26-2017 07:20 PM

I'm a little late, but I'd like to join. I added my name and weight to the spreadsheet.

On 11/5 I weighed 175.8
This week 11/26 I weigh 174.6

My goal is to lose at least two more pounds by the end of December. I would like to lose more than that, but since it's the holidays, I feel that 2lbs is realistic. :D

grannynancy 11-26-2017 08:14 PM

Well, after a full week of ABSOLUTE compliance and additional exercise, I ultimately stayed the same. I am post menopausal so no TOTM to mess me up but I am retaining water this week. Perhaps from the exercise. I am hoping for a big whooosh. After the 6.6 lb loss the two weeks before I guess my body is taking a breather. Just going to "hold the course" ......... I understand until a month of stalling has passed, it is not a plateau. But it sure bites.

Grannynancy:
Your 6.6 lb loss for the prior two weeks is a fantastic accomplishment. The body will take a week off from weight loss occasionally.

Opheliaphoenix:
Any number of ounces lost is an accomplishment. New opportunities for a new week.

Tefrey:
Good to hear your husband is on board with you. That should make meal plans easier. It helps when your partner isn't pigging out while you try to lose weight.

Workinglikeadog:
Congrats on your 1.5 lb loss!

Hello,

I haven't been on the boards in a long time but I came back because I am challenging myself to getting back on track and losing some extra lbs by New Years and I need some extra motivation. I used to love the challenges on this site and wanted to join if it's not too late.

Hey Everyone:
Here is the latest chart. Congrats to everyone for your accomplishments!

For some reason, something went goofy with my weigh-in from the prior week, so I had to make a correction (just noticed it). I've had a problem with Google Doc's in the past, so I try to refresh the screen, after I make an entry. Even then, I've had something disappear before.

If anyone else notices a mistake, and their weigh-in didn't record properly, post about it. If possible, I can make a correction.

magistra17 11-28-2017 05:40 PM

Hey Munchey! I love all the little spread sheets you've got going. Those are so much fun and motivating too! :D I had fun exploring them today and I added a few goals for myself. Thank you!

I changed my weight loss goal to 169.8. Hey why not dream?
I added in a personal goal to stop eating 3 hours before bedtime. Gotta allow my brain to stop working so hard before sleeping.

Having kind of a tired day today and wondering why I don't make myself go take a nap? I can but I'm fighting it . . .

munchey 11-29-2017 12:05 PM

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ISTMAS/xm2.gif
Magistra17:
A short 20-30 minute nap can be worth while and give you a recharge for the rest of the day. I've heard that some people have a little coffee just before a short nap. I guess the coffee kicks in, within the 20-30 minutes and can be very energizing.

grannynancy 11-29-2017 12:30 PM

Hey. Well, I had had a bit of a whoosh the past few days and am down 2.4lbs since the last weigh in . Hoping it sticks. No hoping it keeps to fall off. Go away fat. Shooo. Down the drain you go.

Thanks for doing this. It is fun and motivational!

munchey 11-29-2017 02:52 PM

GrannyNancy:

I'm glad the scale is moving downward. Good job! Most often, the scale catches up with good behavior.

MorningGlory1950 11-29-2017 03:17 PM

First of all I would like to thank both Munchey and GrannyNancy for your comments regarding your cars' "marks of character." I have an appointment to get the bumper replaced and will suck up and pay the $500 deductible. Target could not identify the hit and run driver via the security tapes. You are right.. it is only a car...

On a good note I lost 2 pounds this week by being aware of what I was eating and more importantly, why!

We still have plenty of time to make a "dent" (haha) in our weight loss goals!!! Good luck, everyone!

grannynancy 11-29-2017 03:22 PM

Oh Joyce. Oh Groan. Baaaaad.

Munchey, it was on this forum, I learned about the "whoosh" effect -- I always unlearn it when bad things happen but it is true that sometimes your body just holds onto that water for awhile

magistra17 11-29-2017 10:20 PM

munchey thanks for the nap advice! I am going to definitely give that a try. I love coffee! So any excuse to drink it. I did end up taking a nap both yesterday and today. I remembered that it's winter and sleeping more in the winter actually helps with weight loss.

Huckle 11-30-2017 10:23 AM

Good day yesterday!

A good day yesterday, must try to press on to get back on track... good luck with the home stretch of week 3 all! :carrot::carrot:

flower1 12-01-2017 12:27 AM

Hi everyone. I hope it's not too late to join. I lost 45 lbs and have gained 19 pounds back. I have an ongoing battle with depression and the last 6 months have been difficult and I have fallen off the wagon. I am going to make an effort to lose the 19 pounds I have gained and thought joining a challenge may hel to motivate me.

I hope everyone reaches their year end goals.

MorningGlory1950 12-01-2017 11:44 AM

Everyone ~ It is December! We've got 31 days to make progress towards our goal.

I turned my wall calendar and it is a brand new slate! Let's keep our eating plan fresh and exciting without the impromptu indulgences.

Yes, that is my daily goal: remember that word:

im·promp·tu
done without being planned, organized, or rehearsed.
synonyms: unrehearsed, unprepared, unscripted, extempore, extemporized, extemporaneous, improvised, spontaneous, unplanned;

Riestrella 12-01-2017 12:58 PM

Hey guys,

I'm unfortunately going to drop out of this challenge. I thought perhaps I could deal with being a participant rather than running a challenge, but turns out I'm made of weak stuff!

I've got a lot going on in life, essentially trying to make ends meet. Trying to stay consistent with exercise and eating healthy is still a priority, but not something I can spend too much time thinking about. When I'm at a point in my life when things aren't so stressful, I will be back to 3FC, but for now I think I need to step away from the forum and focus on myself "solo" so to speak. I had great success on the forums once before; it really was a place I could come to to be proud of myself, and to give and receive support. Right now I feel this overwhelming sense of guilt when it comes to checking in, especially when I don't have the time to catch up with everyone. I'm sorry for stepping away, but I think overall this is the best decision I can make for myself.

Before I go, I wanna say thank you to everyone who has taken a moment out of their day to support me. Your kind words mean the world to me, truly. I wish you all the very best on your weight loss journey, hopefully by the time I'm ready to rejoin the action you'll be closer to your goals or even better - maintaining your ideal weight.

Thank you and good luck!

opheliaphoenix 12-01-2017 03:44 PM

Riestrella: I'm sorry to hear you'll be leaving us for awhile, but I know what that is like...do what you need to do to keep yourself sane and just keep sight of your goals on the horizon in the meantime. Hope to see you back soon!

MorningGlory1950 12-01-2017 04:26 PM

Riestrella ~ I know exactly how you feel...do whatever it takes to nurture yourself. I will miss you.

workinglikeadog 12-02-2017 02:57 PM

Hi flower, good to see you, it's been a while. Hopefully we can motivate each other. Depression is a hard thing to deal with, I get winter sad & have up and down days. It's more challenging to stay motivated, but I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. ;) WELCOME BACK!

Riestrella, It sounds like a good time to take a break from 3fc's, but am hoping to see your beautiful presence in the future. Take care.

Well I am staying even this week, so must eat less or exercise more. I know I could improve my exercise and hoping to get outside today for a cold brief walk.

:dust: to All.

flower1 12-02-2017 11:07 PM

Thanks workinglikeadog, good to see you too. You're doing really well and your mileage for 2017 is very impressive:). You're right, depression makes it very tough to feel motivated. I've been off track for about 5 months and thought coming back to this site may help to motivate me with my eating and exercise. I am a bit annoyed with myself because for the past several months I basically was undoing all the hard work I put in to lose the weight in the first place .... It's sure a lot harder to lose the weight than to gain it.

Got out for a walk yesterday and today so I feel that's a good start. Hopefully I will be down a bit for tomorrow's weigh-in.

grannynancy 12-03-2017 06:38 AM

Well it has been a tough 2 weeks but I am down so far 1.8 this week so I am hoping I pick up momentum again.

Weight loss is tough for many of us (post menopausal grandmother) so glad we are all struggling together. Riestrella, take care of yourself. Flower1 welcome to the challenge.

merowi2 12-03-2017 09:43 AM

I took a long break but I feel I need a focus which I am hoping is this forum again,At my highest again 175lbs and feeling defeated, trip to Florida in late Jan 2018 and i am so uncomfortable with myself.Riestrella best of luck to you.

MorningGlory1950 12-03-2017 10:49 AM

Merowi2 ~ Welcome. I am a PA girl, too - in South Central PA - York.
By the time your trip to Florida arrives, you should be feeling 100% better!

flower1 ~ Depression does take its toll on me, too. As we soon enter the winter solstice, I am conjuring up the pic of me as a caterpillar, just hibernating, just doing it = following my weight loss program without any excuses...to emerge in the spring with a reasonable weight loss, lighter and happier!

Hang it there everyone! It is 12/3, let's not say 12/31 that we didn't accomplish this one small goal!

grannynancy ~ Super happy for you! Are you still following the tenets of Bright Line Eating? I am abiding by my no sugar, no flour rule, but still need to watch my binge eating!

workinglikeadog ~ "one foot in front of the other" - that's the ticket. I would add "away from the kitchen!"

opheliaphoenix 12-03-2017 04:18 PM

Doing a quick check-in for the weekly weigh-in...down to 219.6 today, so this week did end up helping balance out the slow week last week due to that little bump up at the end, as expected/hoped. For that, I am grateful. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! :grouphug:

flower1 12-03-2017 04:55 PM

grannynancy - thanks for the welcome and congrats on your loss this week:) How are you finding the Bright Line plan? I gained 19 of my 45 lbs back when I started eating sugar and gluten again so I'm cutting it out again to get back to my goal. Cutting out sugar is key for me.

MorningGlory1950 - you are doing great and I can relate to your comment about hibernating. It's inspiring to see your success while struggling with depression. I'm hoping I can do the same. I'm doing the no-sugar thing too.

magistra17 12-03-2017 10:14 PM

I'm up .2 this week. I hope next week goes a little better.

Hi Everyone!
I only got to the gym once this week. I got most of my exercise this week walking, while volunteering at the Therapeutic Horseback Riding Ctr. I got in 7 miles on Saturday. I didn't plan on that much activity on Saturday, but sometimes circumstances just present to make you work a little harder. Guess I need all the help I can get, LOL. When something pushes me to do more, I have to see it as a golden opportunity.

I went to a potluck today. They had a lot of food and I had to come home with most of the meatballs I made. Oh well, it forced me to locate my crock pot and now it's ready for future use. My dog likes the meatballs and had some mixed with her dry food for dinner.

Flower1:
Welcome! I'm glad you joined us and I hope that this challenge can successfully jumpstart you towards losing the 19 lbs. I'm very sorry that you struggle with depression. I know that battle and can empathize.

Grannynancy:
A 1.8 pound loss is great! Success for me won't be about how fast I can lose weight, but about eliminating or greatly reducing being a human yo yo.

Huckle:
I'm glad you had a good day. Those good days can duplicate. Not always in a straight line, but each good day sets the pace for better ones to come.

Magistra17:
I'm glad you got in a couple of naps. Adequate sleep does help with weight loss and brain health. I've heard that those who lack sleep on a regular basis are more prone to dementia. There is a new week ahead with new opportunities.

Merowi2:
Welcome to the challenge! Glad you joined us. Sounds like you have a nice trip to look forward to, that can be a good motivator. I put your name on the weigh-in sheet at 175.

MorningGlory1950:
Congrats on losing 2 pounds this week! I'm sorry the store didn't provide you with any helpful video. You are right, we have time to put a "dent" in our weight loss goals by the end of the year, LOL.

December will be gone before we know it. In addition to impromptu, I need to be careful what I plan, LOL.

Opheliaphoenix:
Wow! 4.2 lb. loss for this week - congrats!

Riestrella:
Best wishes to you! I will miss you. I think most of us have had times when we have had to step away from a challenge. I hope things improve for you, that you enjoy the holiday season and that 2018 brings good things for you!

Workinglikeadog:
For some weeks, staying even can be an accomplishment. When it's cold, it can take extra motivation to get out and walk. Hopefully it isn't too cold in Eastern Oregon.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ntleWreath.gif

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...S/Snowgirl.png

grannynancy 12-04-2017 01:38 PM

Flower1 and Morningglory1950. Yes I am still following the tenets of bright line eating.

I *will* use sugar in cooking in small quantities, as in Asian sauces and am "violating" by using 2 oz dried apricots as 6 oz of fruit after doing the math and figuring it has less sugar and more fiber than 6oz banana. I know dried fruits are a no no but I think the potassium is more important to me.

Gluten is allowed on the plan (like in tofurkey and seitan) but I have found it increases my cravings so I don't mess with it. I think getting rid of bread entirely has been a major thing for me. I was never a "sugar" person but I could live off of pretzels and other breads if allowed.

I enjoy the steady weight loss more than I miss the foods I craved. Hunger is so much more controllable without them!

Welcome. Of course you can join. What is your current weight? We need to get you set up on the spreadsheets. Instruction and a link to the spreadsheet appear in the first couple of posts in this thread.

flower1 12-06-2017 01:03 PM

munchey: thanks for the welcome and thanks for doing this thread. Congrats on your loss this week:)

grannynancy: great job this week

gemini6: I have the same problem of bloating with gluten. You are doing great - congrats on getting into wonderland.

MorningGlory1950 12-06-2017 02:12 PM

Hello to all! I went to WW today and all is not well. I gained 3 pounds!!! The new program rolled out this week. I have stayed away from sugar and flour since 11/15, but I am wondering if too much salt and portion distortion are the culprits.

I will track accurately this week, weighing and measuring everything and hope this is a temporary blooper!
Knowing I did not binge makes me think that is so.

I am determined to get through this holiday season in a wonderful frame of mind (and body)!

Congrats to all the winners and "strivers" and survivors this week. Never give up!

grannynancy 12-07-2017 10:29 AM

Morningglory - I recall reading that those who are successful at losing weight and keeping it off are those who persist. And persist and persist. The whole turtle thing. This is not easy stuff but is changing our relationship with diet and exercise. This has been a good week so far. Have a Christmas party hurdle but already know what is being served and "have a plan". Focus will be on people not food.
