  • 3 more weeks to go! Yes I know, shoot me or love me! lol Working hard here, that plateu last month was frustrating, just doing what I can! We will see what happens ladies but in the meantime, seriously, 3 weeks is good time to counter anything or just get the ball rolling. I can't wait to see what happens and yes, you can bet I will be here whining (exercise aside) if things don't move for me again. Ah well, we are getting healthier and stronger and must remember that we are moving forward!

Good luck to everyone and happy weekend! I will catch you all soon. THis weekend I am skipping any outings, it is very busy and next weekend I have a few social events so I have to try and go straight through! Wish me luck!

Onward we go and for those of you changing the clocks ahead, don't forget it is tomorrow night!
  • Saturday, March 4: 180.1
    Saturday, March 11: 181.4

DANGIT. Up a pound since last week. Here's the thing though: this is definitely one of those "the scale isn't the whole story" things. Except for one party where I ate a modest amount of dessert brought by friends, I've been super good this week. I've lost circumference around my hips and chest since my last weigh-in, something which I suspected because my work pants and my sweatpants are slipping like no one's business. I know I've actually lost fat, but looking at my weight loss chart, I can see that I am also almost exactly one month out from when I ovulated in February. I had a plateau and a slight gain then, too. I'm just hoping that I'm right, and that next week is like what happened last month, when it all whooshed away.

At my lowest early this week, I was all the way down at 179. T_T
  • opheliaphoenix Congrats on the new dragonfly!! Milestones are so wonderful to experience and incredibly motivating too.

kfunk6113 Buttoning jeans that wouldn't before is so satisfying. It really confirms you're in the right direction. And thanks for the support with the anxiety. Last night and today are definitely better!

darius I hope your sleep study goes well.

Ronja Holding steady isn't too bad. I always have to translate kg to lbs for your posts so I'm able to keep up with personals. It's actually kind of fun!

takingcontrol Your week sounds awful! I hope you get to enjoy your day off. Do you like cooking/batch cooking or do you find it to be a chore? I kind of alternate between how I feel about it. Sometimes I have so much fun doing it and other times I find it tedious and annoying. I think I would also have a really hard time with seeing my weight jump up. As much as I like to try and keep things in perspective it doesn't really make the present moment feel that great. But don't worry. You will get there soon enough.

Weekend Boater Good luck with your hectic weekends!! Oh, and thanks for the time change heads up. I really didn't realize it was this soon. I always forget it's the middle of March.

Keika You are absolutely right that the scale doesn't show the whole picture. After I had a rather long (or at least it felt long) plateau last month I decided to start measuring myself each week. Seeing that has definitely helped me get over scale frustrations. And congrats on the slipping pants! I know they can feeling annoying but it definitely means progress!

I was surprised to see I was back under 200 after 2 days of binges. I always do a mentally prep before standing on the scale after days like that. It'll probably be 3 lbs higher than where you were. It's okay, it'll blow over soon and you'll be back where you were. I always try to overestimate the gain so I don't feel as bad when it's above where I originally was. Today completely shocked me. But I am getting passed my sorta TOM so that may have made a difference too. That probably also explains where the binges came in the first place.

  • kfunk6113: Thank you! And, I know what you mean...I don't think it is silly, since it is a common concern. I will admit that that is the reason I started out with walking as a cardio exercise and haven't started strength training at the gym yet. I know that building muscle will help burn the fat in the long run, so I need to start soon, but I also know that I am very prone to plateaus while building the muscle at first and I am trying to not get my head feeling defeated before I make a little progress on the scale first. So, I get it. Cardio has helped me though, so maybe start there and see how you feel about it after a couple of weeks of consistency? We'll both get into the more intense stuff soon enough!

darius: Hopefully you will pass your sleep study on Monday! Let us know how it goes. However, if you end up with the CPAP, I have heard that they are extremely helpful while you work back to getting off of them. My mother said that, when she started using one, she had energy she hadn't felt in years...like her body finally got the breath of fresh air it needed. So, don't be disheartened. And, if you get one, hopefully you won't need it for long!

Ronja: TOM will definitely do that!

nancylmrn: Hopefully your new scale will work out for you! I think mine is about to kick the bucket any day, so I may be looking at new scales soon, too. I've been worried about the slight differences showing a "higher" weight, even if it is a technicality...lol. I guess there will be an adjustment period between any new and old scale, though!

Nicholsfamily1987: Hoping it flushes right back out for you tomorrow, especially sinced you got in a workout to burn up some of those calories!

Weekend Boater: Thank you for the clock reminder, and good luck this weekend!

Keika: I was JUST saying in another thread that, most of the time, looser clothes are a much better sign of success than a scale could ever be! So, I agree! That means your hard work is paying off and your fat is melting away, which is the ultimate goal here.

LovelyLeah: Thank you! And, I am glad to see you feeling better and that those binges are already back out the door from which they came...I am betting you are right and that your TOM had a lot to do with everything.

Weigh-in was 250.2 this morning, so a bit of a whoosh! Wasn't expecting that after getting home from my walk at 11:30pm...had to help our oldest with a school project before heading out, so I got a much later start than I intended on. We made little modeling clay cupcakes based on the planets and galaxy-inspired glittery cake pops for a mock business model type thing she did in one of her classes...so, it was cute at least!

Definitely not heading out that late again tonight, of course. My husband was a bit upset with me when I got back, because - even though we live in a quiet neighborhood on a military post - he was worried about me being out so late by myself. I guess you never know these days, so I understand and agree, but the only run-in I had was with an extremely clingy housecat that didn't want me to stop petting her when she came up to say hello and chased me nearly 5 blocks away from her house, hissing at me and trying to get me to stop by running in front of my feet. Even while I was in a full sprint trying to get away from her! She nearly took both of us out, haha. I even threw some of my water in her direction to get her to back off, but not even that swayed her from pursuing me...not sure what that was about! I'm thinking she must have been a female in heat with the way she was acting from the moment she walked up. I have never seen a cat act so desperately "love-on-me-right-now" to the point of becoming hostile before though, so it threw me off! I love cats, so I was trying to be nice, but I was a little worried she was going to get violent...so weird. Anyway, that was my unusual encounter for the night. I was on the phone with my best friend at the time, and even she was weirded out by how the cat was acting, but was laughing at me as I was running saying that maybe the cat was just trying to motivate me to move my butt a little faster.

  • ronja and nicholsfamily sounds like you guys are in for a loss soon!! Hang in there. Last week I ended up gaining a bit even though I was on plan. This week has been much better, hope the same is true for the both of you.

Glad that you like your new scale Nancy! Congrats on getting back to the 150's!

Good luck busting through your plateau weekendboater!

Keika- That is awesome that your measurements are going down and that your pants are too big! I also stay the same or slightly gain when I ovulate and then again around my TOM. I hope you get your whoosh soon!

Yay on getting back in the 190's lovelyleah and EXCELLENT job getting back on track.

opheliaphoenix I am glad that I am not the only one who has similar thoughts. I am really excited for the weather to warm up so we can take family walks! I have heard great things about New rules for lifting for women, so I am going to follow that plan. The reason that I chose the 190's until I start is because 2 summers ago I weighed that much and for the first time in years I felt comfortable about my body and could wear clothes that wouldn't make me feel sweaty and gross in the heat! I only wish I would have started earlier so I that I had a shot at wearing shorts this summer. Maybe by Labor Day!! That is too funny about the cat!!

    Good jobunwanted37lbs!!

  • unwanted37lbs: Welcome to the thread!

nancylmrn: Glad the new scale is working out!

LovelyLeah: Haha, I think I may have!

kfunk6113: The New Rules of Lifting for Women was one of the main books I was checking out the last time I was trying to get healthy again and wanted to start lifting! It was the one I'd decided I was going to follow when the time came, so I will probably do it this time around now that I am back on track. When you get started on it, let me know how you like the plan!

Weigh-in was 250.8 today, so just a bit up after yesterday...but, bumping back up a little after a whoosh is pretty typical for me, so there is no surprise or cause for concern there. Water was low yesterday at 11, but I was good on calories and got my 5 mile walk in last night with no further run-ins with that one cat, so I'd say it was a good day overall...lol.

  • LovelyLeah I thought it uncommonly kind of you to convert my kgs to pounds! I have tried using pounds on here for the simplicity but it just doesn't come naturally to me so I gave up and returned back to good old metrics... one great thing about pounds is how fast the weightloss goes
  • Keika you're definitely right about scales sometimes now being a correct measure of our progress. Especially if you weight-in daily and record progress every week. Sometimes you work hard and lose nothing and then the following weeks the weight just drops very quickly. I always remind myself to look at the bigger picture. If I get frustrated by not losing as fast as I would like to, or even gaining when I should not be gaining, I remind myself how far I have come and that I just need to keep going.

Although I've complained about a minor plateau, the truth is my weight loss with IF is significantly faster than I expected. I intedned to reach 95 kgs by my birthday (June 18) but I'm now hoping to be there by the beginning of May. That 95 kgs landmark is mentally really important for me, it's the weight I used to be for years (that is, my "fat weight") before I had kids. So just getting back there will feel like restoring some sort of normality, and every additional pound I lose will be like FINALLY losing to go under what's used to be my regular weight. I hope I make sense here. I'm so tired.
