Ronja I spent 10 years living in Asia until last August so am very excited to have a whole 'new' continent to visit now. I have Berlin and Bucharest on the cards for later this month, and then a heap of other new cities and countries to follow of which CZ is definitely one! I hope you are still pleased with your number this morning!
Econ_nerd What is your challenge? Good luck! Ophelia Yay to water helping you out. I hope things calm down for you soon. [B]LovelyLeah/B] I hope you enjoyed the party, and the cake! After breakfast I am cooking a big pot of soup for lunches next week, then I am going on a walk to the other side of town, should take about an hour and include some impressive hills. This afternoon there will be more cooking for next week to keep me organised and on track and then later I will probably go out and buy some heavier dumbbells so I can really make progress on my home strength training. Good morning!
GardenerJoy I've been reading the book Drop Dead Healthy that you mentioned in your goal story. Hillarious, but very informative. I had a big woosh today and weighed in at 146.4! :cb: Hopefully it will stick, as I'm working hard at getting below 145. This challenge is making me stick to my eating plan. I would have joined the 21 Day exercise challenge, but I'm getting over a bad cold. One day I'll have a ton of energy and the next day I just want to lay down. econ nerd: Yay, I'm glad to see you here...WELCOME! takingcontrol: You're doing awesome! Cooking ahead and getting in awesome walks like that is sure to do great things for your plan...keep up the hard work! It's been chilly here this week, but I think I will buckle down and go out for a long walk tonight, too. Ronja: That's still a great drop overall...it looks like your body really responded well to having a break in digestion. And, I hope tomorrow's fast goes just as smoothly as your last one! :) Sperrigo: Congrats on the whoosh! Those are my favorite, lol. unwanted37lbs: Welcome! _______________________________________________ Weigh-in was 269.6 today, which was a relief. Better late than never
I'm joining the Feb challenge. I've never done anything like this before ( weight loss challenge OR posting in a forum),but I think it can only help. Considering I've made zero progress in loosing the " baby weight" in 31 months :( considering I just moved to a new city for my husbands career so I have no friends around to encourage me or work out with.
Anyway on to the positive: I've just stated working out and already notice a difference. Today will start the diet portion. I plan on counting calories 1400 a day but also intermittent fasting i.e. Keeping all my calories in an 6-8 hour window . Has anyone tried that ? Good results? My goal is to be down 10 this month. takingcontrol It was a lot of fun and I really lucked out when it came to the cake. They cupcakes!! Perfectly portion controlled compared to cake slices. And I planning on them having pizza because that's the usual. Instead my sister made a huge spread. Spiral ham, chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, homemade mac & cheese, green bean casserole, and corn. I stuck to just chicken and corn. She also had a container of strawberries and I ate a ton of those. They hit the sweet tooth, kept me satisfied, and they're nutritious.
IslandJD WELCOME!! We love new people here, so just hop right in. We're great at encouraging, holding you accountable, and letting you vent about pretty much anything and everything. Welcome to the cool kids club! ;) If you have any questions just ask, we'll do out best to help out. Also if you have questions about any abbreviations or acronyms just ask. Some where on the forum we have a cheat sheet guide but I'm sure where that is. _______________________________________ Do to a lot of excessive soreness from working out too much without resting my body means I have to take a day or two off to recoup. I don't wanna because I'm afraid I'll lose my momentum and go back to being a couch potato. Also working out hard has helped a lot with my anxiety and PTSD. It gives me a way to burn off any nervous energy. It also helps me leave my apartment, even if it's just a couple doors down to the workout room. I hate leaving the apartment! Even last going to my niece's birthday party was really hard and overwhelming. Another reason I need to take a day or two off from working out. I need to recharge my mental battery too. Ophelia Thanks, I love feeling organised, it really helps be successful and I am starting to enjoy it now too. Making my whole life feel more on track. The weather here was beautiful yesterday, rain is forecast to be back this week but it was a great day to get out and about! IslandJD Welcome! This is a fantastic thread to check back in on often and share your journey, it really helps with focus. We are supportive in losses or gains and will do our best to help with anything you need to know for your journey. It sounds like you are making great progress whilst dealing with a stressful move, so well done! I am also new to my city and haven't yet managed to grow a decent friendship group. I am being kind to myself and giving it more time and am lucky I am very good with my own company. LovelyLeah It is great when good choices pay off on the scale, well done! And, a double well done for being responsible and listening to your body and giving yourself a break. You won't turn back into a couch potato because you have made a mental shift, but you will be better for your down time. Ronja Excited to see what fast day two brings on the scale in the morning, your numbers are moving in the right direction for sure! For me, yesterday I walked just under 10 miles including a few bits of jogging and a couple of huge hills. My feet sure know about it, and I have a couple of small blisters thinking about developing on my soles (a problem I have always had) Soooo.... today I am reducing my steps right down and taking the metro to and from work. I will do some abs work later this evening as they seem to be the only part of me that isn't aching this morning! I ordered some dresses on line this weekend which is something I have never done before. I chose a size that I would think will fit or near fit now, although one of them has very fitted arms that may not work at this stage. If they don't fit, that okay I will work towards it, if they still don't fit in a couple of months I will rethink, but my main aim is to start believing that I can and will wear dresses to my two weddings in April and working out a style I am comfortable in. 1: 208.2 2: Official weigh in = 206.8 3: 206.8 4: 206.0 5: 205.6 6: 205.2 7: 8: 9: Official Weigh in 10: 11: 12: 13 14: 15: 16: Official Weigh in 17: 18: 19: 20: 21: 22: 23:Official weigh in 24: 25: 26: 27: 28: Total loss: 3 lb to goal: 7.2 |
Soooo, I feel like I'm facing a weight loss mystery here:?:
I did have an easy day yesterday, low reps with the dumbbells, only 15 minutes cardio due to soreness and zero days off working out since Jan 23. Yet I stayed within caloric goal and had very few carbs. I'm used to the little ups and downs but this seems unusual. I'm going to measure today to give myself another way to measure success. Yet this is a bit frustrating! I went from being pretty sedentary and eating nachos or at least one really indulgent thing a day to sensible choices and daily cardio. You'd think my fat would be lining up to get off the ship but it seems not. I've ended up on diet pills before for much less effort leading to better results than I'm seeing here, trying to forget my doctors number because I want a better more long lasting solution in proper diet and exercise. Not to mention healthier than just a huge caloric deficit daily. You guys are all rocking it, I'm trying to catch up! :carrot: Congrats on so many nice losses. Quick check-in, so no time for personals....weigh-in was 269.4 today. We were going to splurge a tiny bit last night for the festivities, because my husband wanted to order Dominos. I don't eat their pizza, but their Mediterranean Veggie oven-baked sandwich is one of my favorite things ever, so he tempted me by ordering one for me...lol. (I need to try making a healthier homemade version, so it won't be a temptation!) However, the one nearby was so backed up for the SuperBowl, that it was nearly 3 hours after ordering and they still hadn't even gotten to it, so we went down there for a refund. He still wanted takeout of some kind after waiting so long, so he went through some drive through for him and the kids...I just splurged by eating an order of fries with one of my regular homemade sandwiches, lol. Shockingly, adding the fries actually ended up being a little more calories than the Dominos sub would have been, which is mindblowing! It really puts into perspective how calorie-laden just a tiny thing of french fries can be. Definitely an eye-opener. :yikes: That helped kill my love of fries quite a bit, lol. They can be tasty...but, they just aren't worth that amount calories for how little you get. I was still under my limit though, because I didn't have time for lunch yesterday, so that's good at least. Tons of sodium, though. Glad the scale didn't freak out too much...whew!

Unexpected crazy busy day at work yesterday is leading to another today. So, I'm posting and running. It does seem that 205 is a bit of a block that is taking me a while to break! Going to try and eat more intuitively today.... think I didn't eat enough / not enough fibre yesterday / the right things as I wasn't really listening to what I needed but eating when I got a moment and ended up with 21.30 dinner. So, after taking a week's break to deal with my personal issues, I'm doing a total restart today Feb 7th. Restarting my morning 5ks tomorrow and also keto. I lost almost 20 lbs in January before life stepped in, but I'm a lot better now and I'm aiming for 13 lbs this month. And btw I am no longer a size 16 :) now wear 14s although they are a bit snug.

Hi. Completely new user. Lack commitment to weightloss goals as currently in house (and near food) most of time with research study, this forum may help stay on track! I admire those who stick to it even when out for food with friends! Weight has been slowly creeping up as a boredom eat, reading papers most of day has that affect! Even when get down to 10 stone those few pounds around that mark feel like they are impossible to shift.
Current weight 149lbs Target 137lbs. Started getting back into watching food couple of days ago. Like the intermittent fasting approach. February goal 142lbs would be great. |
So I'm back to going down and that's good. But to get that going again I've had to abandon very low carb totally for 2 days, go low fat, and yesterday I only ate 1100 calories, drank 130 ounces of water, and worked out 3 times. That's a bit low calorie for my weight and current activity level. And it doesn't feel good, the thought of picking up those weights this morning....just feel weak.
I guess this is the plan I have to stick with going forward. At least the scale is going back down and hey no one said it would be easy right. Week One 01: 265.9 02: 265 03: 262.6 04: 266 Oh yes i said that ugggghhhh 05: 06: 267.7 07 264.8 Week One Loss = 1.1 |
NightSnacker wow your weight certainly jumps up and down! The newest number is pleasing though :) I used to fluctuate this much in weight when I was fully breastfeeding a baby, it was a mind game, really. Now it may move up or down a little, but not this much.
|
Ronja I remember my nursing days fondly but have to admire you for looking after yourself as well. I didn't have anything to spare, was just exhausted and didn't care much about myself then. Took me years to lose the baby weight after each of my 3 kids so I salute you for doing so well.
My ups and downs aren't very fun right now but I've been trying different diet tactics and I think I'm learning that very low carb isn't for me. I might just be getting more fat than is efficient for this type of diet. When I go back to a super restrictive calorie diet with reasonably low carbs I start to have success again. I guess I can do this for now but sustainability is the problem. Once I break that 200 pound wall I'll be able to have 3 bites a few times a day and smell an apple or something and call that a snack. Keeping that up to keep the weight going down once I've lost a bunch is going to be nearly impossible. That's probably my main goal, finding a way to live that's sustainable and supports just me, not my extra 100 pounds! |
Takingcontrol: thank you for the welcome. What you said about being kind to yourself really resonated with me. It was appreciated advice.
LovelyLeah: Thank you as well. I underestimated how helpful it would be to be part of other peoples weight loss adventures. The scale hasn't budged for me in 2 days. But I skipped a weigh in and i can't do that. I need the constant feedback on what I'm doing right and wrong. I guess it keeps me accountable. To be honest with myself i did cheat at a super bowl party. Although I feel like usually I would have indulged in a full plate and ate until I was totally satisfied. This time I sampled a few things from my husband's plate. I rationalize these things bcd its not "that bad" or "that much" but if Im trying to create a caloric deficit it is toooo much. I need to be more on guard against my bad eating habits. Francesca017: I know what you mean about being home and around food all day. I think it makes dieting harder. I also like the idea of intermittent fasting. My goal is to eat btw 11am-5pm. what are you doing? |
NightSnacker thanky you for your kind words, but to be honest, I've been terrible with losing weight after kids. I'm actually still a pound or two above my last pre-pregnancy weight and my last baby already turned one year!
I have never head issues shading the pregnancy weight, because I gained just little, being always realyl sick. So coming home from hospital with a baby (or two) I was already back on my pre-pregnancy weight. But I was never able to KEEP it off while breastfeeding. I breastfed two sets of twins and I was EXHAUSTED. And when I don't sleep, I eat. Sugar. Lot of sugar. LOT of sugar. So here I am, 20 pounds above my pre- first pregnancy weight, but doing well at the moment losing what needs to be lost. I hope to stick to this...I'm a mother of five and I love that, but I hate that I do indeed LOOK like mother of five, if you know what I mean! |
Weigh-in was 268.8 today, which makes a total of 3.2 lbs down for the week. Didn't quite hit my water goal yesterday (only got in 15), but I went out for that long walk finally and ended up getting a great workout in despite not being able to go to the gym. I also walked the kids up to the little playground on the first curve of our neighborhood, and it had an extra wide duo-slide that even my rear could fit down easily, lol, so I actually got to join in with my 2 year old for the first time, and he thought it was great! He would yell out "ready, set, GO!" and we would slide down side by side...it made me feel really good that I could actually join him and even more excited to get down to a healthy weight so that I can do that anywhere and at any time! It gave me a little preview of what having a smaller/healthier body might feel like, and I want that. For all of us!

The last few days have been rough emotionally for me. I haven't been sleeping so I've been taking it easy. I have to be careful to balance self-care with backtracking. I've struggled with that in the past. I take care of myself emotionally by easing up on dieting but then also transition into allowing myself to emotionally eat and binge. It's a dumb cycle. Poo....

So I'm taking the average, 105.0 and that's my goal for February :o I lost 3.5 kgs (7.7 lbs). It does look like I set a too low goal for myself but 3.5 kgs is more than what I lost in all of January, and considering that February is a short month, I though seting 3.5 kgs was rather optimistic. But I didn't expect to actually decide for IF (very spontanesously one night after reading about its benefits) and see these results so fast. Setting up a new goal of 103.5. If I reach it, it will be 5 kgs lost (11 lbs) and that sounds like a lot for one month. I know this is extreme and I do think it's just the initial whoosh that will be over soon and losing weight will become troublesome again and I will be happy to lose 5 lbs a month. But for now, I'm just happy with what I'm gettiung and enjoying it while it lasts! |
opheliaphoenix awww that sounds lovely, being able to play with your little one, that must have feel fantastic! Breaking 205 is becoming my first battle of this current journey. I live to fight another day! Tomorrow is the dreaded official weigh in day, would love love love a whoosh to record a half decent weekly loss. But, if it doesn't happen this week, it will happen soon..... hoping for a couple of more relaxed days at work today and tomorrow before Friday off. Hopefully removing the stress will help.
Chouku, lovely to see you back and hope things are okay. Wonderful non-scale victory, congratulations! Francesca, welcome! It sounds like you are going to need a lot of willpower to succeed, something this site will hopefully help with. Good luck! Nightsnacker, your drop yesterday was amazing! But, make sure you are taking care of yourself too! It is a long road so we have to make whatever we choose to do has to be doable for the long term. I am having my most on plan week ever and my weight is totally stuck. I have to believe that it will go down again soon and that I am helping to build healthy lifestyle patterns while I wait! I hope you continue on your journey down now, but do it feeling strong :) IslandJD, I'm also not moving at the moment on the scale, but trying to see this as a long path and things will get going again soon! It sounds like you did great at the super bowl party by not over indulging, at the end of the day, we still have to live. I am going to try the opposite tactic to you and weigh in less for a week as I think I am getting obsessed by the numbers. I will weigh in in the morning for my official weigh in and then try and only weigh in once more before next Thursday and see if I can take my focus off the numbers but keep it on my lifestyle. Ophelia, You are doing great this week, well done! I love your story at that park, lovely :) LovelyLeah, keep taking care of your emotional health, I hope you are feeling stronger soon. Well done on the number this morning though, a well needed boost I am sure. Ronja, you are doing amazingly well! IF seems to be your friend, congratulations! Intermittent fasting
IslandJD - Hi. I try and leave it till as late in day as possible because we eat quite late at night due to husbands job. So normally it's an 8 hour window 12.30 ish til around 8.30 so that gives a 16 hour break. Although recently also tried pattern similar to yours but I get really hungry around 8 especially if he's then eating! When I was being good (hopefully this week is new start at that!) I combine it with 5:2 there was great programme on last year regarding science behind it. I also try to do any exercise first thing at morning before had any calories, although nothing seems to work to the extent of others but no idea what else can do!

Thanks for keeping track of us all GardenerJoy
Official weigh in today is exactly 205. Sooooooo my only aim for next week is to get out of and stay out of the 205s I'd like a 203 but if this thing is slowing down now, then I am ready for the long ride! Yesterday I inadvertently didn't eat anything after 17.30 and now at 7.45 am soon to have breakfast. I have never been able to not night snack before, but now it seems I can I might just do two days a week of mini fasts and see if mixing it up helps. Next week, my focus is exercise, ramping it up! Tonight the focus is a treat evening, well deserved I feel! Sorry, no personals, but I will be back! 1: 208.2 2: Official weigh in = 206.8 3: 206.8 4: 206.0 5: 205.6 6: 205.2 7: 205.2 8: 205.6 9: Official Weigh in 205.0 10: 11: 12: 13 14: 15: 16: Official Weigh in 17: 18: 19: 20: 21: 22: 23:Official weigh in 24: 25: 26: 27: 28: Total loss: 3.2 lb to goal: 6.8 |
I'm getting beyond frustrated, I'm working out more and more as I'm able to do it, pushing as hard as I can, logging all my food and carefully maintaining a good calorie deficit every day. I felt like I cheated yesterday because I ate some rice. Still was well under, say I'm ending up between 1000 and 1250 calories a day. For my weight that should be a success. Not getting anywhere though.
How can I have gone from sedentary and self indulging daily to strict healthy eating and working out like mad and not be losing? Rhetorical question, my metabolism my enemy knows the answer and it's not talking. Sorry I hate to be negative and I'm determined to keep going but I feel like I'm being cheated of the results I feel I deserve here. Apparently, I forgot to post here yesterday! My weigh-in yesterday was a big bump up to 270.2 after having a harder workout the night before, despite being completely on plan, drinking all my water, and getting in well over my goal of at least 10,000 steps. It was frustrating because I was expecting a whoosh instead of a gain, but I suspected that the gain was from how sore I was feeling yesterday morning and thought it may be water retention in the muscles. Turns out I was right. Weigh-in was back down to 268.2 today...so, I'm glad that settled back out like I was hoping it would! I took it a little easier yesterday to help my muscles rest, but still went out on a walk with our two youngest to one of the small playgrounds to get a little activity in. Hoping the rain stays away tonight so I can go on a longer solo walk/hike through our neighborhood this evening. Hope everyone has a good day!

NightSnacker Have you spoken with your doctor at all. Sometimes there are other factors. I know for me early this year it was because of a medication I was on. It's always disappointing to not have your efforts rewarded.
________________________________________________ I'm currently waiting for my husband to get out of the shower so I can weigh myself. I also really have to pee but that's a bit TMI. ;) Well he's out now and I have weighed myself. Another big drop but I'll believe it if it sticks around for a day or two. I had a bit of a stomach thing going on yesterday so I barely ate. Now I feel better except I'm ravenous! I plan to eat, take care of a thing or two, clean, and maybe run an errand or two. GardenerJoy really glad to see you! I was wondering if you're ok :) I had to update my goal, because I've already met 3,7 kg. My new goal is 5.2 kgs if you would be so kind and update the table. Thank you!
