The XMAS Challenge
 
We have two months till Xmas and i thought we were missing a Xmas challenge !!!! :wreath:

We can set any kind of goals we want to achieve by Dec 25th and we'll use this thread to help keep us accountable. For weight loss goals i'm sugesting that we each choose at least a day to log our weight weekly, but each person can do this the way they think it's best. :tree:

My goals are:

SW: 78 kg (171.9 lbs)
GW: 74 kg (163.1 lbs)
Will be logging my weight on mondays

Also, i don't want to be binging on all the food we get as gifts. Don't want to be overeating at all the holiday parties i atend at late november and december.

Oh, and this is an important one: i want to exercise even when the holiday season hits hard and i'm a guest at my parents

Marina , I started one too. LOL! I closed mine.

My goal is to look less like Santa (He had a broad face, and a little round belly that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly: He was chubby and plump...) than I do right now! October has been really hard on me and the fact that I am up this week doesn't help matters. I keep telling myself it's all about my body readjusting though. Well, that and the high sodium intake this weekend!

Gained weight. Ok, not the greatest way to start... lol.... i binged on sweets yesterday and this was no amateur binge at all. :o

I don't know how I missed seeing this challenge until now :)

Thanks for making it Marina, and you also Jill, seems both of you were into it.

My goal for Christmas has been 199, however it seems I may be able to push that a bit and make it 197, the weight I got down to when I lasted got into losing weight some 17 years ago. I kept my weight down for a year then started steadily back up.

I usually post my weight on the first, 8th, 15th etc, except for this past month where I posted daily. But for this challenge I will post only on Mondays.

My starting weight will be today's weight of 210.8
My Christmas goal will be 197, making that 14 lbs

JB, I have looked into the weight watchers program a bit since seeing you using it and doing great. I will probably be pumping you for some more info about it, they have been in business for some years and changed their program recently, and from what I understand making it even way better than it was before.

I follow the WW program by getting nutritional info online and product labels and using a WW calculator to track what I eat. I do not attend meetings or do anything through WW online. So, I may not be the best source for information on the program. LOL! I'm cheap and money is tight so I can't see paying for that program AND a Y membership. With that being said, I'm more than happy to tell you what I am doing but it may not, exactly, match the "official" WW program. ;)

Welcome to the gang, BFR. Oh, i'll take any of those 3, but my in my native language i'd use "obrigada". My spanish sucks! We say that brazilians can speak "portunhol" which is a fun way to say we can sort of comunicate with spanish speakers using a bizarre mix of portuguese and spanish that often leads us to basically make a lot of awkward mistakes while still being able to have something that resembles a conversation. As an example, i can understand what an spanish speaker says if he speakes slowly, but the word they use to say a woman is preagnant is similar to the one we use to say someone is embarassed, so there you go... that's how my "spanish" works.

Marina, we must have been creating them at the same time. I checked to see if there was one, when I saw there wasn't I created mine. When I posted the thread and the list refreshed, there was yours. No big deal, as long as there is one.

I've done really well the last couple of days but I'm not going to be able to do my aerobics class all week. UGH! Trying to do some walking but this week's schedule is really tight!
Finally loosing the bloat! Now, to get to some "real" weight loss.

MumofMany, Congratulations on the new baby and also on getting back on track so fast. Wow! How do you do it? I have no children and truly admire mums! Mums are so brave for so many reasons! Now, just weigh on your weigh-in day and then post your weigh here. This is a laid-back thread so there will be no lists or anything like that, just weight and post. That's how unorganized i am. :) The focus here is on keeping ouselves accountable and supporting each other.

I'm starting to get Holiday gifts. Sooooo early, i know, but they keep coming and they are mostly food, all from patients. Today i'm leaving a lot of snacky sugary food at my office kitchen. Hope they get eaten. Lots of people working here. If i have all that stuff at home, i'll eat it...

I'm always afraid of setting goals because I like to sabotage myself.. Need to get out of that groove. I think most of all I'd like to commit to joining our rec center and being faithful with working out at least 4 days a week. :)

Marina Brasil I have a question for ya.. Are you from Brazil or you used to live there? Just asking because I grew up in Brazil and am always looking for a fellow Brazilian. :) I mean, I'm american but grew up there. :) Anyway, just wondering! Have a great day!

Blondie, I'm so glad to read your goal cause mine is tied to weight loss but is not a weight loss challenge.

I would like to challenge myself to NO p.m. snacking six nights per week. If I can achieve this, I should lose weight.

Hey guys, i've been having awful migraines and couldn't exercise as much as i'm used to, so ended up gaining some weight. Not happy at all!

alyssarof2012, 23.3 lbs would be very ambitious for me but i know plenty of people on various threads who lose faster than I. I'm a slow loser. It's annoying, sometimes....

Hey, Bllondy, goals don't need to be numeric or weight-related. Exercise goals are great! Oh, and as for me, I am brazilian (which explains my somewhat rusty english), currently living in Curitiba but born and raised in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais. :) Growing up i had some american and australian friends. Where did you live here in Brazil?

In my defense, i spent the majority of the last week having migraine crysis and not being able to exercise. Saturday i had a crysis too. Hope they are gone, can't take it anymore. :bomb:

I went back to my usual exercising and eating routine yesterday and i feel great. Also, today i'll be going to the post office to adopt Xmas letters that poor kids and families write to Santa asking for gifts. I love this project and it marks the beginning of Xmas to me, as it's something i do every year since i was a kid.It starts early so people have time do adopt the letters, buy gifts and get organized.

Marina Brasil, so glad to have seen you on here!! My Portuguese is rusty (haven't been back since 2005) but I sure do miss Brazil.. I grew up in Juazeiro do Norte and Crato, both in Ceara. I went to school (boarding school) in Fortaleza. You know, one of the things I miss the most about Brazil is all the fresh fruit and vegetables. I miss going out to our backyard and getting a goiaba from the tree back there. I also miss siriguelas. :) I also miss pasteis and coxinhas.. hahaha..

Ok, sorry. This is supposed to be a goal setting forum. :) My goal of joining the rec center is all I'm going to make so far because one thing I do is set too many goals and then get overwhelmed and give up. So, one at a time for me. Hope all you ladies reach your goals!! have a blessed day!

This WAS the reason I gained weight last x-mas season. I was overeating on sweets and pm snaking to the tune of 10 pounds in one month. I was reminded by another chickie to eat a high protein mid afternoon snack(so no sweets). I am on guard and losing at this point, so am wishing you power over x-mas sweets this season.

Marina, yeah it is a little ambitious but at my weight it should be realistic (assuming I do what I'm supposed to, haha).

Is there a weigh in day for this or do we just do general updates? I'll have to go back and reread this thread. I've confused myself. :P
