Finally back to a computer! I ended up staying in town this weekend to take care of my friend's son while she was at the hospital having her second child. The toddler was no problem at all, but the constant conversation with my friend's recently retired, late 70-something year old mother EXHAUSTED me!! If had to hear one more time about how the reason she was having to pay workers compensation back taxes is because everything in New Jersey is controlled by the mafia, I might have lost my mind. I'm very happy to be back in my own house where I don't have to talk to anyone.
Anyhow, I don't have time ATM to do much more than post the goal list, but quickly though I have to say that I think it's awesome to see so many people here with goals on the smaller side this month - because many people this month are near or close to their goal weight or a normal BMI, and there are those who have already lost a bunch and are fighting to keep losing after many, many months of calorie deficits. Our January challenge was full of some big numbers and awesome successes, but you see some of those people who start off great at the beginning of the year and then drop off... and I just LOVE seeing so many people who are committed to continuing to fight. It's just a really awesome, inspiring thing for me. philana: I would suspect there is a difference in the degree of metabolic adaptation, but I'm honestly guessing at just about everything most of the time, so who knows? I guess the important thing is that we're just continuing to battle the lbs, no matter what, and even if it takes a while we WILL get these last stubborn pounds off. It's just measured in months at this point it seems rather than weeks, at least for me! Sarge: Yay, hi!! You know I'm going to make your eyes bleed here, right?? I'm so happy to see you though! You're going to kick @ss on those 10 lbs and show 'em how it's done. :D ItsMyTurn: Woohoo, so glad to have you back! I'm so happy for you that you seemed to have figured things out, and I know this month is going to go really well for you. :) OK, more later. Good luck to EVERYONE this month, and I'll be back to update further later tonight! Goal
Count me in!
Current weight as of 4/01: 264.4 lbs Goal weight by april 30: 244 lbs |
Helllo everyone! I am in again. I never got to check in for the final day of the March challenge. We ended up moving into our new home over the weekend so I was super busy. I did not readch my goal of 169. Missed it by 2 lbs :( This month I am going to keep it simple and say I was to see 168 by the end of the month.
hope you all have a great week |
Please, count me in. I want to be ~ 135 lb by end of April. I hope it is achievable.

viklane: Don't be discouraged if you hold on to the weight for a little bit given that you've just started running again! For me at least, anytime I really switch things up with the exercise it takes my body a little bit of time to adjust.
KymmLynn: Welcome to 3FC!! This forum is AMAZING for support; I don't think I could have been as successful with my weight loss without it. I hope you really enjoy it here, and I wish you much success! :) minoja: Awesome job on the 6 lbs last month! hbr777: Already being at a normal weight BMI-wise definitely contributes to the slowness too! We just don't have as much room to create a huge calorie deficit. I know those extra challenges can make it really tough though; kudos to you for continuing to fight! Alisa: You're so close, and I can't wait to celebrate with you when you reach your original UGW this month!!! What are you thinking about doing after that? amanda: I know different plans work well for different people, but holy smokes - I would have been a miserable, cranky b*tch on 800 cals/day! I hope the switch to calorie counting works well for you! :) delyn: Fingers crossed! If you feel like you're starting to struggle, let us know and we'll see if we can offer some support/help! Leecie: Your post made me think about the holidays... I'm Jewish, and I've always found it ironic that the Easter candy is always located RIGHT next to the Passover foods, as though to tease us Jews who can't eat any of that deliciousness during Passover... but this year I'm really glad that I can't even be tempted by the chocolate, LOL!! I just have to get through the seders next weekend (and the three kosher-for-Passover desserts I'm making on Saturday ), and then it will be protein and veggies for a week straight - which should help me stay on track, even if that's not the point, lol. sun: You were really sick more than half the month of March, so you did pretty awesome considering!! I hope the move went well this weekend, and I REALLY hope this is a nice, healthy month for you!! :) PaintedButterfly and Philana, I am with you on wanting to get out of the 140s!! I've only been in them for a month, so a lot less time than I spent in the 150s (more than 2 months!), but I'm definitely ready to move in to the 130s. Tonight I made a little progress... weight after my run was 142.9, yay!! Once again, I don't care if it was the water I sweated out - I will take whatever I can get right now!!! Chickadee - YOU, my darling, are an inspiration!!!! I have no doubt you will have no issues getting into 130s!!!! My goals are small cause my loss is naturally slow with the RA obstacle, for some reason that likes to hold on to anything I have - I, on the other hand, disagree with my body and would like to see it GO, I bet I win, I am a stubborn sort, Have an awesome day!!!

One day at a time peeps ... make it a good one!
Chick -- Sarge's eyes won't bleed here. He knows what he signed up for. It's just good to have a place to report each week to stay focused and accountable. Your pictures are amazing btw!! What a journey you've been on and look at all the "followers" you have on this thread. |

aaah I usually don't weigh in until Fridays, but I just checked tonight and I was at 149.4...what the heck! I know I ate a lot this weekend, more than usual, and it was chinese takeout food so i'm sure the sodium is making me hold water but really! UP 2.2 lbs since last friday? and my goal is 145...geez that's discouraging! but keep plugging away and hopefully the scale will go down soon!

Started walking about a month ago and continued to add time/distance with each week. Now up to 5 miles (fast walk) 2-3 times per week and 2.5 miles on the other days taking one day a week off. The day before yesterday my husband and I figured we had eased into it well enough to add short intervals of jogging. The first 4 mini jogs were fine but by the 5th one we were on a slight incline and wouldn't you know it...chest pain. So we slowed down and after about a minute or two it passed so we just kept walking and skipped the jogging for the day. Well since I had to have a pacemaker implanted for sick sinus syndrome I have to have a little machine next to my bed which alerts me to call doc whenever it sends him a distress message. So I call and go in and sure enough heart rate was off the charts and now more meds and no jogging for me. What I am worried about is that walking won't be enough. Sure I can do strength training as well but nothing that raises my heart rate too much. How do you lose weight when you can't raise your heart rate? I mean of course I will stick to my eating plan no matter what but I'm sure I need more than that. Sorry to vent...it's just so frustrating. I do plan to keep up my walking though...I love it for one thing and I do understand that it is helping the pounds to come off. I'm not really worried about the present time but when I have lost more weight and the loss starts to really slow I know I will need something more and since I have the heart condition even if I lost more weight and got into better shape I still may not be able to do anything more than walk...ugh...
Still hoping to meet my April goal but we will see by the end of the month if I have to shrink my mini goals from now on. |
hey minoja, wow i'm really sorry to hear that news :[ that must be so frustrating and scary at the same time. stay true to your eating plan and be meticulous about the calories and in combination with ANY activity that doesn't get your heart rate too up, i'm SURE you can still reach your goals. there are lots of people on 3fc that i've read posting about how they ONLY modify their diets and do not exercise regularly. your situation is special, so treat it special and make it work for you. i completely believe in you that you can still achieve your goals through diet modification! heck they say diet is 80% and exercise only 20%. that just means your journey may be a bit slower, but your eating habits are gonna be a heck of a lot better than the rest of us! sending hugs and positive vibes your way...stay strong :)

chickadee32, include me, pls!

I'm late but I'd like to join in. I didn't quite make my March goal but was happy to lose even a few pounds, given my crazy work schedule and the unending food at the office.
So, I'm hoping to get to 144 by the end of the month, which will get me halfway to my goal of being under 140 by my birthday in early June. Good luck, all! |
