  • Quote: Good Morning everyone, I was reading about what everyone is doing for exercise and I thought I would throw my 2 cents in. I walk 30 to 40 minutes everyday and on Feb 8th I started half hour sessions with a PT at fitness 19, who I see Mon, Wed, Fri. I asked him On Mon if I should be doing more and he told me that I should only do 30 minutes of cardio at a time because after 30 minutes, your body wil start using your muscle instead of your fat for energy. He said that you can do as many 30 minute sessions in a day just shouldnt go too much over 30 minutes at one time. So I decided to dig out my wii fit board (which has been in storage for a year & half) and i went out and bought the fit plus. Fit plus is way cooler than fit. I figure I can walk on the treadmill in the morning like I always do and burn a few calories in the evening playing around with the wii. I would also like to add that my PT is in the process of going to school for physical therapy so he is knowledgable about the body. And on a side note.... I hit my 20 pound mark
First of all, congratulation on hitting your 20-pound mark! Now, about what you PT told you about not going over 30 minutes with aerobics or you'll start burning muscle...I wonder if you could ask him why the trainers on Biggest Loser have the contestants training aerobically for hours at a time if he feel this to be true. Because by the end of the season, most of those men and a lot of the women have lots of added muscle. Don't get me wrong, I hate doing aerobics and usually don't do over 30 minutes at a time myself. I'm just wondering what your PT's thoughts on this matter would be.

Fiyah, a big congratulations to you on getting into the 200s!!! Bye, bye 300s; don't come back now, ya hear?!?

I've got my self-cleaning stove on and it's stinkin' up the house. I've got such a headache from the fumes. You'd think in this day and age they could figure out a way to prevent such strong fumes from this process. Next time I plan to do this I'm making plans to be out of the house for a few hours.

Had a great day, as I hope you all did. I was bummed to hear that Davy Jones, my childhood crush, passed away today at 66 years old from a heart attack. RIP Davy.
  • Sandcar, thats a good point, although I have never really watched the biggest loser. I would bet they counteract with extra muscle building as well but idk for sure. I have been averaging 2 pounds a week so I am going to stick with what is working for now. Hopefully I will not plateau any time soon
  • Sandy, I think Davy was pretty much everyone over 35's childhood crush. I remember me & my best friend used to argue over who was going to marry him. Silly kids. He brought so much laughter to so many people. It's unbelievable to think that their tv show actually was cancelled in 1968. I watched it in the late 70's early 80's growing up. R.I.P.

Stlrsgrl43, great job on reaching the 20 pound mark. 2 pounds per week is great & definitely if it's working for you don't change it.

Four days ago I had bounced up to my begining February weight & over the last 3 days I've lost 3.4 pounds. Whoosh! Yay. Just in time for me to begin holding water for my TOM. Just my luck. Hopefully I get another day or two of the whoosh.

Hope everyone has a great OP day.

    Kim
  • Happy to report in that at my weigh-in this morning I was down 1.8 pounds, but better than that I am excited to say hello to the 160's again for the first time in a very loooonnnnngggg time! It is a beautiful day today and I am excited to go home and complete day 2 of C25K.

Stlrsgrl43 and kandd416----congratulations on your losses as well!! We are headed in the right direction

Everyone have a great day and keep drinking water and moving
  • Well, I've been 1/2 on 1/2 off plan. A little stressed the last few days as my daughter had her knee surgery yesterday morning. Did get my workout in today while she was sleeping. Everything went well and she should be back to school on Monday. And it doesn't help that my 17 yr old son is mad at me because I don't like his new girlfriend. She's one of the "popular" girls and is not a pleasant girl. I've known her since she was 12 and she's always been mean to my daughter...especially when they were on the same lacrosse teams. One of the reasons she switched to softball. Why are men so stupid sometimes? And why can't they accept the fact that mom knows best?
  • Congrats to you as well tlbrwn on your weight loss. Bethann, I'm glad your daughters surgery went well.
  • Hi everyone! I'm still on vacation, so I haven't weighed myself all week. It will be interesting to see what happens. I haven't been too bad.

Sandy - I know you are right about the muscle/weightloss relationship. Some of my friends have recently told me that they really saw the scale begin to drop when they started doing resistance exercises. I really need to think about that. I do some light free weights, but it is not consistent enough to make a difference.

    I'm reading everyone's posts.

    Great losses, girls!

Fiyah - Special congrats to you. Those milestones are so important for us.

I was sad about Davey Jones, too. He'll be forever young in my mind.
  • Glad to hear you gals are loosing... Way to go!! Wow lot of post to read since last time I posted lol... Sorry for not being able to reply to everyone but keep up the good work it will all pay off...

Well I am getting more and more stress. School and looking for a job has been so stressful lately.. Well now my bf lost his job so one us has to find one ASAP.... Hardly anyone is hiring around here so major stress with no money no job and bills coming up.... Things where starting to look up then he loosing his job ... STRESSSSS

I was so upset today and disgusted with myself that I couldn't really eat today...I never realized just how big I am till now looking in the mirror side ways.... I just busted into tears.. I have gained weight back that I lost.. I am guessing that it is from all the stress... ARGGG!!!!

I don't even know how much I weigh and really don't want to know... I will weigh in the morning but really dont want to see what the number is..... This is where I would usually lie about the number but that will not help me and I know that so I have to be honest and accountable...
  • Good morning, I amd down 1.4 pounds this week, heading out to the gym now, trying to build some muscle. [B]Countrybarbie[/B,sorry to hear about your bad luck, I hope things start looking up for you.
  • Good Friday morning ladies. The end of yet another work week. I don't know why, but it seems like the older I get the quicker time flies. March already. Come on Spring.

Tlbrwn, great job getting down to the 160's. It's another big step towards your goal!

BethAnn, glad your daughter is doing well. As for your son, you gave him a little warning, but keep an open mind, people do change. I hope for your son's sake she has. Plus, sometimes kids just have to learn things the hard way. It's amazing at how much smarter my parents are now that I'm older. LOL

Barbie, I'm also sorry about your luck, but hang in there & take care of yourself.

stlrsgrl, great job one again. What you're doing is definitely working for you. Keep it up girl!

Hope everyone has a OP weekend. Talk to ya Monday.

    Kim
  • Tlbrwn, I bet feeling awesome to get down to the 160's. Keep on keeping on

stlrsgrl, whatever you are doing is working so keep with the awesomeness lol

Today is better.. I am trying to look at the good things in my life and know that god has a plan for me.. When one door closes another one opens... I ain't feeling so depressed today.. I know I have to keep my head up and instead of eating alot(which I can't cause we are on a BUDGET now) so I have to base out the food so I guess exercise and music is what will have to be my food crutch....

Everyone have a great weekend.. I am making a grocery list, since no food in house have to go buy some lol
  • Grrrr...I am in the worst mood ever! After trying so hard to get my weight down and seeing ever so slowly inch down to 194.4, I wake up this morning to see 197 on the scale! I am frustrated beyond belief and, yes, let out a few tears because of it. I really am trying hard, girls, but lately it seems like I'm taking one step forward and then three steps back.

I won't give up, though, don't worry. Sorry for the vent, and I do hope you all have a good weekend.
  • Hellllooo my beautiful 3FC lady friends! I have good news... I got my whoosh! FINALLY! I really needed this girls, because I was really feeling down and out in that I was religiously OP, and no movement on the scale was about to have me throwing my hands up in the air and saying "JUST FORGET ABOUT IT!" But nope, my persistence paid off. I weighed twice (yesterday and today) and am now back down to 168.6. Whew. So, this leads me to my next statement... HANG IN THERE DARLINS! Seriously, when you really sit back and think about it- if you're staying OP and doing what you know is right, then there is NO WAY you're gaining weight... even if the scale says you are. I have come to the conclusion that the scale is the devil Please ladies, just keep on keepin on and it will pay off. Now, I need to hear this VERY SAME THING next time I'm hitting a plateau. Which is almost a definite.

I'm so proud of all of you ladies, whether you're seeing losses on the scale or not. The fact that we log in here and post our ups and downs almost daily shows that we're tuned in. to you all! Hold your beautiful heads up and show this weight-loss business WHO'S BOSS!

Also, I've taken on a new 'job', if you can call it that... I'm keeping a sweet baby girl (6 wks old) 4 days a week, along with my 3 yr old (I also have a 12 yr old that's in school the majority of the day). So, that's keeping me super busy, hence the lessened posts here! But I'll check in as much as possible. XO ladies!

Oh! And tlbrwn... I just have to point out some similarities we have: our height, our weight, our goal for this challenge, we are both in VA, and we both love camping! I thought that was too neat =) (I went through the posts in this thread for some inspiration and noticed all of these things!)
  • Hi Friends.........I have been trying to catch up on what I have missed this past week with everyone - HUGS to everyone ! Regardless of how much weight people are losing or aren't, we are all still here and not giving up. We are the greatest aren't we!!!

Well I am down 1.6 lbs this week. I certainly was not on point this week so any drop is a welcome surprise. Hope to be a bigger loser next week !
  • Good Morning friends.......so I saw a loss of .6 lbs since yesterday. Not much, granted however it means I saw 310 on the scale for the first time in years!!!! Also means I am within touch distance of 309......I love the feeling of reaching that next 9 at the end of weight. Which puts me a short hop away from 299!!!!

Ok.....a lot of rambling but anything that motivates me right !
