Let's do this!

I'm in for 8lbs! Working on intuitive eating and starting tomorrow, at least 30 min. of exercise every day.

Melokoton 01-08-2012 12:19 AM

Hello all..I've been perusing the site for quite some time, and today I finally registered. I've gained 80+lbs in a span of a couple of years, to begin with I was still at unhealthy weight of 200lb, but now I'm at 268, but what I would do to weigh 200lbs again! But in any case, for this month I'd like to aim for a loss of 10-15lbs.

ItsMyTurn 01-08-2012 10:32 AM

Official morning weigh in was 189.4. I usually don't get big jumps, but with being able to start my cardio back up, strength trainings as well - I guess that's my body's way of giving approval :)

KimL1214 01-08-2012 11:21 AM

269.4 this AM!!! only 1.4 away from monthly goal... At least I'll have a better idea of what I can do in future months, although I suspect that since this is my first week being really serious... that may be why I'm seeing such a big loss... I'll take it though!

Thinsole 01-08-2012 11:58 AM

Start: 207.2
1/8: 206 (-1.2)

Goal: 203.2

Live Laugh Love 01-08-2012 02:48 PM

Well I maintained this week (I weighed in yesterday morning). I decided to try just eating less and not counting calories, but that didn't work so well. So I'm going to start counting calories again, as that is what worked for me a few years ago. Will hopefully have time to clean off my treadmill today so that I can begin using it again. I want to get in the habit of walking at least 2 miles before work in the mornings (at least 3 days a week). Yesterday was my 25th birthday, so I kind of indulged a bit yesterday. My boyfriend and I went out to eat and then had cake that night with some finger foods (which were high calorie). My parents are taking me to Outback tonight, but I have a lower calorie meal that I love their and have already counted all my calories for the day. It's a good start to the new week!

tavvy 01-08-2012 03:04 PM

ok! I had a binge yesterday, but am happy to say it didn't derail my weight loss.
In order to reach my monthly goal (and both of my long-term goals) I need to lose 3 lbs a week.

This week I am down 4 lbs even :) Here I come weight loss!!

chickadee32 01-08-2012 03:14 PM

I'm looking forward to catching up here this afternoon, but need to get my behind to the GYM first!! Will be back in a few hours. :)

CANi2012 01-08-2012 04:37 PM

Official morning weight in 285...down from 293...8 lbs.

ItsMyTurn 01-08-2012 04:40 PM

Chickadee - Hope you had a great workout!!! I am chomping down on a protein plus bar right now and hydrating, then I am heading out for a walk/jog myself :) Great day for it... 68 right now and super sunny

2012slimdown 01-08-2012 04:58 PM

Hi there, I'm brand new too. I'd like to lose 7 lbs in January. Going to he a long journey but I've started it x

chickadee32 01-08-2012 07:14 PM

OMG, I missed a boatload these past few days! I'm really excited to see everyone really participating this month though!

Ms P - It is SO GREAT to see you back!!! :) I wish the past year had been easier for you, but seeing your posts again is great. You have a lot of wisdom to offer to all of us here, and I'm so glad seeing the progress on the scale is getting you excited!! I added your goal for the month below. :)

Thinsole - I've got you on the list below too, and way to go on the 1.2! :)

RoadtoFifty - Weight values on the scale can be VERY weird and wacky sometimes, and I think especially so when it comes to water weight. I could be completely wrong (I often am!) but my guess would be that your body is trying to shed that extra water but is having a tough time just letting it all go. You see it briefly depart, and then *poof* the evidence is gone again. The lower number you saw on the scale this week, I would guess, is actually the more accurate reflection of the fat you've lost - and I'm confident you WILL see that lower number again once your body finally, finally decides to let go of the water for good. It can sometimes take a while to truly see your efforts reflected in the number, but when you are creating a calorie deficit through food intake and exercise you ARE earning that fat loss, no matter what the scale says.

brunette - Nice progress!!

tyedyegoddess - Glad it's coming off!! It's astounding sometimes how big the weight shifts can be when hormones are out of whack, isn't it??

this is for me - I've added you to the goal list below!

KimL - Fantastic job so far this month!

loose seal - I agree with tavvy, try not to get discouraged! I know how hard it is when you're doing everything right and the scale isn't moving (especially given the emphasis we place on the number here; i.e. "losing X pounds"), but as I said to RoadtoFifty above, you ARE earning fat loss even if you don't see if on the scale. I made the change to your goal below, but don't count yourself out on those 6 lbs yet. Every time I've stalled on the scale for a bit, I have seen it come off in a whoosh or a few whooshes later on. Sometimes it has taken weeks, but it has ALWAYS happened. You'll see things move at some point, I am certain, but I know the waiting can be really tough.

tavvy: NICE JOB!! :carrot:

Leslie: Great that you're finally seeing the movement! Have fun on vacation, and just keep active if you're eating a little more than usual!

ClaireBear: You seem right on target to hit your goal for the month!

ItsMyTurn - Woohoo, nice weigh in!! Almost back to that ticker!! My workout was good - I was totally beat by the time I was done.

stronger4me, Melokoton and 2012slimdown: Welcome, and I've added you to the goal list below!

Live Laugh Love: I know different things work best for different people, but I heart calorie counting! I am a numbers person, and being able to see exactly what I ate and KNOW I'm creating a sizeable deficit really helps to keep me energized. Glad you're getting back to it. :) And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :celebrate:

CANi - Holy cow, down 8 lbs in 8 days, and first of the group to hit your goal this month!!! Way to go!!! :cheer3: :cheer2: I made you RED below!! :D

As for me, the scale has been going in the wrong direction. I'm at 156.7 today, which is up from my low of 155.0 last Sunday, but at least down from my high of 158.5 this week. It's all water as I always, always have a calorie deficit, and there's nothing I can do except to continue to keep at it. I will go off the BCP for about 4 days at the end of this week before I start the hormone injections, and I'm hoping for a nice drop on the scale during that little window. We'll see, but either way I plan to fight through the end of the month with everything I've got. :)

Hey y'all,

Is this a competition to see how much weight you can lose in a month ?

thanks :)

chickadee32 01-08-2012 08:28 PM

Hi Sophie. :) Not a competition, we just each set an individual weight loss goal for ourselves for the month and then work to reach it. If you'd like to join us, just post a goal for the month and I'll be happy to add you to the goal list. :)

CANi2012 01-08-2012 09:21 PM

Water weight I am sure....but I have to keep going and start working out I could not last week due to an injury but the doctor gave me the okay to start Monday....So gym here I come....

dandk0204 01-09-2012 12:50 AM

I weighed in this morning at 258. I lost 10lbs this week :) 5 more pounds until my monthly goal!!!

flourless 01-09-2012 11:42 AM

I aimed for 8lb in December and ended up at 8.4, woohoo. This month I'm hating the trend-weight, though. I've gone down 5.5lb from January 3, but I only get to log 1.5 of them. I'm still aiming for a total January trend loss of 7lb, though.

I think I'm slipping into a little seasonal depression, because I haven't been getting out in the sunshine as much as I need to. I think my priority this week is to get my house in order on that front, and my life sort of "caught up" after the holiday rush. The weight will take care of itself, as it seems to do lately.

ClaireBear92 01-09-2012 12:23 PM

1/2: 224.6
1/9: 218.2

5.8 lbs lost this week! Wanted to be down to 214.6 by the end of january...only have 3.8 lbs left to lose!! i can totally do this!

loose seal 01-09-2012 01:17 PM

chickadee -- thanks so much for the encouraging words. I had a good weekend both exercise and food-wise and my jeans have felt better since Friday ... just have to hang in there till the scale cooperates! Thanks for changing my January goal too. In my head I figure 4 lbs. it totally doable and if I do get a swoosh and lose more that will just be icing on the cake. <-- oh, probably not the best analogy I could have used!

CaliforniaDreamer 01-09-2012 03:48 PM

I lost 4 lbs this week! So I have 9 lbs to go until I reach my goal of 13. Hopefully I can make it this month!

Ms Perception 01-09-2012 11:12 PM

I'm planning to see a nice loss tomorrow after a good OP day and a nice exercise time this morning before work. I weighed in at 168.0 this morning after a little blip up from my weird food day yesterday.
So, I did okay at the church potluck. I had a small bowl of my venison chili, a few samplings of other dishes and then a couple samplings of desserts. I kept it to 1 plate (including the chili bowl on my plate) and didn't feel overfull so we'll call it a success.
As far as supper which my son thoughtfully prepared was scrambled eggs and a slice of low cal toast. (He asked what we wanted and I told him to make it something that wasn't unhealthy. He's such a sweet boy!) He did also attempt a dessert which was a chocolate rice cake with some homemade "frosting" and blueberries on top. It would rank among the strangest desserts I've eaten in recent memory, but it was a nice try.
The cool part of the day was that my whole family went to the school gym and played basketball together for an hour in the afternoon. It felt great to work off the potluck food and get some fun family time!

tyedyegoddess 01-10-2012 10:05 AM

Hi all! I was really happy that I lost 4 lbs last week. I fell off the wagon a little so I was scared of what I'd find this morning! It's not what I hoped for, but I didn't do what I should have to get what I hoped for. Either way, 4 lbs is a lot to someone who's never lost that much in a week!

Good job everyone!

ItsMyTurn 01-10-2012 12:39 PM

CANi - I am sure the working out will help out a bunch with the water... not to mention just make you feel better being able to do it :) I know when my medical prevents me from my workouts for more than a couple days - I start to get a bit "grouchy" and have withdrawals

dandk - Can't believe how much you have lost girl! That's awesome! You are 2/3 of the way to your goal already! Fabulous! Keep the momentum going!

flourless - Is a tanning session an option for you? I have a friend here, that when monsoon hits and we don't have our normal sun, she has to do that and it seems to pick her mood right up :) You are doing great on your loss too, another something to feel good about :D

ClaireBear - You are totally kicking your weight loss!!! Great job!

loose seal - Did someone say cake? Excellent job staying on your plan in both aspects. That truly is our key to success right there... staying on what we plan and insuring we "feel" good. The pants fitting good is always a great sign too!

CaliforniaDreamer - Wow! Holy pounds shed! I have no doubt you can reach your goal!

Ms Perception - It sounds like you did super at the pot luck! Keeping everything to one plate at the potlucks my church has is near impossible... we all have such different cooking styles that I like to try it all, Big pat on the back for you from me!!!! How fun to play basketball with the familY!!!!

tyedye - 4 lbs is a lot no matter how you slice it or reason it! That's great. Keep moving forward! We all fall off the wagon - it happens... the difference to success comes in how you pick yourself up and hop back on though ;)

I have been able to keep going forward with my fitness along with my nutrition... SOOOOO glad the medical crap has taken a break and allowed me to just be active again for a while!!!! Oh how I missed it! It truly does make a world of difference with how I feel overall: body, emotions, etc. Oh, and a total NSV I would like to share if you all don't mind: the other day I went to put on a pair of work pants and had to roll waist to make them stay up... figured maybe they just got stretched... then yesterday, another pair... same thing. So I figured, well, the teens have been doing the laundry, so maybe they aren't drying well? But it clicked... today... pair #3, and I had to roll 4 TIMES! My elastic belt is not against me and is just decoration at this point too!!! This means, even though this plateau of 188 and higher has been holding for so long, I AM losing inches! Totally happy jigged all the way to the car this morning

ferretgirl 01-10-2012 03:29 PM

Weekend Weigh-in (1/8/12): 122 lbs

1.5 lb loss for Week 1
4.5 lbs from Jan. Goal

loose seal 01-10-2012 09:54 PM

ItsmyTurn - - - how cool is that?! While seeing the numbers on the scale go down is always a guaranteed boost I get even more excited when I put on an article of clothing that was uncomfortably tight only to find it to be loosey-goosy on me. It's so . . . tangible. Even if the scale isn't budging (like it wasn't with me), something is going right if the clothes are fitting better. Keep up the good work!

I'm pretty sure the scale has started to go down but I'll probably wait until Sat. for an official weigh-in. My jeans are getting looser and looser so yup, something is going on . . . er, off! lol

loose seal 01-11-2012 01:12 PM

RoadtoFifty -- the other day I was in Target and saw some pretty sterling silver rings. On of them said 'Faith' and I thought of what you posted . . . 'keep the faith.' So I bought the ring and wear it so I can read the word and just keep thinking 'have faith that you can do this; have faith that you can stay OP.' Can't tell you how much it helps. Thanks again!

GoldfrostDazzlefluff 01-11-2012 01:14 PM

I'm checking in. I can't seem to get my behind up to do a darn thing - exercising - MOVING - anything! :( I am down to 161.6 now. I took a few days away from the exercise routine, now I need to get back on track, I know. I'm not sure what the block is. :?: I think I will be very lucky to break into the 150's by the end of this month. So, that's my adjusted goal: 159.x.

ItsMyTurn 01-11-2012 05:13 PM

Loose seal - I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

RoadtoFifty - I just started taking measurements this month. I advised my mom to start a couple months back when her weight loss slowed, so figured it would be good to take my own advice ;) You have been painting too? Is it to give a new look? Or this is the first look you wanted? I just bought my house a year ago yesterday, and have yet to get paint on all the walls yet. In my defense though, it's a huge house and that's a TON of work. We have over 3400 sq ft and cathedral ceilings... our half bath took all day to do! I tried to find painting on MFP - nothing, My MFP name is StarIsMoving if you would like to add me :)

Gold - I think we all have that struggle when we break from it... how's the saying go??? A body in motion tends to stay in motion..whereas a body at rest tends to stay at rest. What you have to do is get the start up of inertia going and then you will be *brace yourself for a play on words* "Gold"en

That is a great idea! I am glad that my words gave you motivation. I am so honored. :o

Also keep in mind how close you are to where you want to me. I don't know how many times that I have been that close and started getting the big head. And you know what happens then? You gain it back. It is so frustrating! So, just hang in there and remember that you could be like me with over 100 pounds to lose again and turning 50 next year. *sigh* I checked the other day and at least I am out of the "morbidly obese" range to just the "obese" range. Little victories. LOL

BTDT with the losing/gaining/losing/gaining back to losing again. <sigh> Yeah the big head thing . . . that's exactly it. I get so far then think 'oh hey, I can deviate, I can slack off, it's ok.' And a for a bit I can get away with it. But then . . . . up, up, up the weight goes each and every time. You'd think we'd learn, huh? lol

We have to hang in there and when we get to a certain comfort level keep looking at that pretty little ring that says 'faith' and know that we can't get lax because we're not quite done yet.

Oh and that turning 50 thing? Piece of cake. It's just a number . . . don't let it have any more power than that.

Ms Perception 01-11-2012 11:23 PM

Had another good OP day with several temptations avoided...amazing! Last night at the school we ate at a fundraiser "tailgate party" with all the typical summer picnic-type foods. I did eat a brat, beans, cold salad and dessert. Again I kept the portions small, well except the brat, I just ate the whole thing. Anyway, after the bball game we came home, I got the kids in bed and I stuck in a workout dvd and did an hour of exercise. This morning I was up .2, but I was okay with that. It means I did a decent job of balancing food and activity. It helps that I kept my calories at lunch and breakfast on the low side to accomodate what I knew would be a higher cal meal at supper.
I know I've only shared victories on here so far, but they've been few and far between lately, so I'm excited to get back to a healthier mindset.

I'm so on board with you ladies who've mentioned getting close to goal or whatever then getting cocky about it and gaining weight back. I hadn't thought about it quite like that but that's absolutely what I've done. Another reson why this site helps me so much. You ladies understand what I'm doing/have done and can often relate so well. Thanks to you all!!

chickadee32 01-12-2012 12:48 AM

dandk, ClairBear, CaliforniaDreaming, tyedye, ferretgirl: GREAT losses last week!! Keep it up!

flourless: The short days really get to me this time of year too. I think I need to make an effort to get out more during the day to absorb some of the sunshine.

MsP: It's so nice that your son prepared a good, healthy meal for you. I need to teach my husband how to cook something other than spaghetti, lol. Glad you had such an enjoyable Sunday with your family. :) And I think it sounds like you did great yesterday in a situation that could have involved a lot of overeating... I'm glad you're sharing your victories here, because they are definitely worth celebrating! Every good decision helps, you know?

ItsMyTurn: Awesome NSV!! Time to go shopping! :D

RoadToFifty: This is absolutely the place to come when you need to vent and get it out - it's what we're here for, to listen and encourage and cheer each other on! And thank you for the good thoughts on the treatments; I really appreciate it. I will definitely be feeling the stress in another week or so, and you all are sure to hear about it here.

loose seal: I love the idea of the ring. My boss, who is a good friend and one of the few people IRL with whom I discuss my fertility issues, gave me a little silver box at the holidays that I love. On the front it says "wishes", and on the inside it says "do come true". I keep it next to my desk at work and get teary-eyed every time I look at it. It keeps me hopeful that things will eventually work out.

Goldfrost: I struggle sometimes with wanting to exercise too, and what seems to help me at times is setting a very specific goal on a short time frame. Mine right now is targeting an average daily calorie deficit of AT LEAST 889 calories (not as random of a number as it seems, lol, it came from a bunch of calculations :dizzy:) - and to hit that calorie deficit I either have to exercise or eat below my 1200 minimum calories. Having that to focus on every day has been helping me to get out there and do it. Can you set a short-term goal something like that to help with the motivation?

I'm heading out of town for the weekend tomorrow (we're doing a late Christmas with my family since we couldn't travel over the holidays), and it's going to be a challenge to eat well all weekend since most meals will be out! I've got my Fiber One bars though and know where the nearest Subway is, so I plan to stay on track with my calories as much as possible. Will be checking in here when I'm able, but have a great weekend, all!

Delphi 01-12-2012 02:49 AM

Glad to see you ladies are doing so well. Just a drive by post for me. Staying OP and giving it all I have. Just 5 more pounds and I will have that 8 pound goal in the bag for the month. Hope you ladies are having a good week thus far. Keep up the groovy work. :carrot:

New to 3fatchicksonadiet

Hi, I am new to this site, but found the postings so encouraging. I am currently 200 pounds and would like to lose atleast 5 pounds in the second half of January to start!:)

Delphi 01-12-2012 04:10 AM

:welcome: getskinnywithme

stronger4me 01-12-2012 09:32 AM

Down 2lbs!! Got back into kickboxing today finally and followed that with a 30 min. walk home. Feeling good.

loose seal 01-12-2012 09:34 AM

Oooo, stronger4me - - - I do some kickboxing workouts and I'm always surprised at how much of a workout I get from them. I like it!

ItsMyTurn 01-12-2012 10:28 AM

RoadtoFifty - You did great adding me, it went through no problem :) Holy painting through it all again? That's a ton of painting to do! I am into earth tones and "reminiscent" tones of the old times. So we have everything from a deep tannish color in the halls to a bold classic burgundy in our bedroom... all over the spectrum, Great job sliding out of one category!!!! A loss is a loss, is a loss!!!! Love progress!!!

Ms Perception - I love hearing about your victories! If everything is a victory right now, then it will help lend you the confidence to get through your next trial.... that is not a bad thing :) You totally OWN those victories ;)

Chickadee - I can't "shop" much as of yet... Christmas for 3 teens and I am the only source of income, so have to make when I have work for now and add one thing at a time. When my parents come in May, my father is giving me and my mom some money to go get clothing though as a reward for all our hard work reshaping :) I sure hope you have fun on your weekend!!!! I am sure you will do wonderfully, sounds like you are already planning ahead and that's half the battle!

Delphi - Great job!!!!

Getskinny - :welcome: I wish you much success with whatever plan you are using/changes you are making :)

stronger - Great job!!! Kickboxing is a great workout...then to add in the walk... amazing! :)

loose seal - hi!!!!

I got in my walk/jog last night - apparently DH knew I was serious about needing it cause the kids barely even said hi to me until I got back so they didn't side track me from going  It felt fabulous! Woke up this morning to TOM...there is my 2 week stall... hoping I can get past it and finish up this month hitting goal for a change

Ms Perception 01-12-2012 07:07 PM

Hit 165.8 today, so that's more progress toward my goal. I had to adjust my food plan to accomodate my parents coming over for lunch. I made a new recipe and I'm about to go on Sparkrecipes to see what the cals/serving are for sure. I was guesstimating based on the recipe and the changes I made to it. Still I think I'm pretty good for calories today.

I will be doing one of my walking dvds once I let supper settle in my stomach and get my calories all added up for the day. If I'm a little on the high side, I'll throw in a little weights or something extra too!

gardenerjoy 01-12-2012 11:27 PM

Welcome, GetSkinnyWithMe! I did exercise videos filmed in Hawaii today while watching it snow outside of my window.

I had a couple of bad days and haven't weighed myself for a few days -- that's always a bad sign. I usually do best when I'm weighing every day. Things got better today when I did those exercise videos. I want to remember that for next time -- hula and yoga make me feel better!

Delphi 01-13-2012 01:30 AM

MsP ~ Sounds like a wonderful plan...as always. I definitely hear ya on becoming complacent as well...guess that is why we are back.

roadtofity ~ Good luck with those cravings and the scale.

itsmyturn ~ Too bad about TOM but it will be over soon and hopefully you will see that Whoosh you are looking for.

stronger4me ~ :bravo: on the loss.

Well the week has been a slow one for me but completely on plan! Just higher calorie days. Every few weeks I up my daily calories just to shake things up a bit..but I feel so guilty during these periods as I know I am not getting the daily deficits I need when calories are lower. In any case, it works and keeps my body on its toes.

You ladies keep up the great work. You are all an inspiration. :carrot:
