8lb goal for this month!

Peaches5577 08-03-2011 11:39 AM

Just checking in! Have had a heck of a time sticking to my goal of getting up early enough to go running in the morning. Need to figure that one out! I was able to pull myself out of bed early enough this morning to get a good 20 minute session on the elliptical.
Weigh in this morning is 174.5! That means down 1.5 lbs in three days. I will take it! Its about time.

SMSDREAMER2007 08-03-2011 11:45 AM

checkin in...Lots of errands to do today. so I will be walking around alot. Ate a banana for breakfast...not a smart thing to do I think...feeling all sicky bleh.

Have a good day everyone!!

ratc0353 08-03-2011 12:42 PM

Feeling good today...down .4 from yesterday! That's 3 lbs so far! To be fair, I had been eating like crap, and not exercising fir a while now :) must be shocking my body into submission! And, for the first time that I can remember...I'm looking forward to working out tonight!! Just bought the Zumba DVDs and I'm excited to get through them all!

Katybug 08-03-2011 03:23 PM

Thank you, chickadee for putting together the list! Now my goal is in writing... I better buckle down and get at it! Unfortunately, I'm not off to a great start this month... I've gained half a pound. Blergh. But it's my TOM so I'm not too worried, hopefully the scale will be going in the right direction soon. This morning I was also late for work and skipped breakfast... I haven't done that since I started my program in May and it feels weird! Just had a bowl of homemade turkey soup though, and feel much better. :)

nikkidee 08-03-2011 04:49 PM

I hope its not too late to get in onthis. I joined the exercise august challenge, and want tojoin this one as well.

My start weigt weight on the 1st was 170.2
My goal is 160.2
10 lbs.

I did the 30day shred video yesterday twice (dang!)
And ate well so this morning i clocked in at 168.4

ChickieChicks 08-03-2011 08:33 PM

lene- since we are living the same life, let's just partner up and I'll do your stuff for 2 days, and then we'll switch. That way we could have blissful days off in between. LOL I can dream. I have been feeling so overwhelmed by...life. Nothing bad or crazy is going on, and yet I just feel BLAH!

chickadee- the list looks awesome! I haven't had an actual weight goal...just timeline, so I need to do this!

nikkidee- sounds like a great day! I love when the scale bumps down, even a smidge.

ratc- I tried the Zumba on wii, and it was super-similar to the YMCA class version. I was surprised, b/c I find most wii stuff isn't a great workout. I'd love to hear about the DVDs. Zumba is my THANG right now.

Today was SO weird. I woke up in a fog. Couldn't work ot very well. I was straight up dying after running a mile. Just grumpy and blech. Not really hungry, either, though, so I pray I'm not getting sick. My family has been ill 3 times this summer, which is unheard of for us. I can't take another sickness and trying to suck it up while working out and dieting. My kiddos need to stop picking up germs from camp and the Y. ;-)

Ugh all my weigh-in's this week have been either 0 change or a gain. I know it's the week before TOM, but still. Definitely a sign I need to step it up with the OP eating, exercising, and water!

8lb goal for this month!

ChickieChicks 08-04-2011 10:07 AM

Loli- I never noticed whether I bolated or not until I lost 20 pounds. Holy McSchmoly...last month I was up 4 pounds for a week and I looked like I had swallowed a small child. LOL It was so weird! I guess when I was bigger, it just didn't make as much of a difference. Blah!

I'm down 1/2 a pound after a few days of being up.

I don't want to give out TMI....but my pants are tight and my visits to the bathroom haven't been very often lately.... :D

nikkidee 08-04-2011 12:53 PM

Haha loli. That happens to me every once in a while. So yucky!

I need to look up this wii zumba. I use my wii for yoga, but thats about it.

We've been exercising and eating decent. No soda! Which is basically a miracle.

Clocked in this morning a 167.6. down about 2.5 lbs!

Keep up the good work everyone!!

xxkaleidoscopic 08-04-2011 02:16 PM

Ugh, TOM... *shakes fist* Well, at least I didn't see a gain, though stagnating is never fun. Still at 146.2.

firefoxy 08-04-2011 08:04 PM

chickadee -- Thanks for putting together the list!

Katybug -- I'm not doing that well either. Scale has stay put or moved UP this week until today. TOM's next week for me though, so I'm attributing it partially to that. *sigh* However, if you do stay on plan, you'll likely see a great loss after this week!

nikkidee -- You did the 30 day shred video twice in one day? Mad props. That video is intense. Good luck w/wii zumba. I've done live classes and DVDs and zumba is a lot of fun.

Chickiechicks -- I know this is random but, have your kids gotten the TDAP vaccine? Whooping cough has been going around California :( Anyhow, I've heard that fitness helps your immune system, so keep it up!

loli -- Haha. Drink a lot of water! I think the biggest difference I've ever seen (due to TOM bloating) was 12 pounds. In one day. Crazy.

xxkaleidoscopic -- Lots of posts about TOM recently. It's tough being a woman!

firefoxy 08-04-2011 08:05 PM

As for me, I finally saw a (small) loss this morning, after either no change or (small) gains all this week. Am hoping it's mostly bloating from the week before TOM, so I'm upping my water and watching what I eat extra carefully.

Does anyone else get excited about WI's at the end of TOM? I know losses are mostly water weight at that time, but I love seeing the scale move down! :)

lene1974 08-04-2011 09:31 PM

8/1 166.6
8/2 166.1
8/3 166.1
8/4 165.6 (-.5)

Congrats on the losses Chichi, Nikki, Rat and Firefoxy!!!

Chichi, I hope your blah mood went away. I get like that too sometimes for no rhyme or reason. I love the idea of switching places I'm going to go get a massage by Ryan Reynolds  on my days off

Loli, Katie and xxkaleidoscopic good luck with TOM. Try to drink your water and stay on plan and I'm sure your efforts will be rewarded.

As for me, I ran/walked 1/2 hr this AM and did a 45 min walk in the PM. Plus took the kids shopping and walked around the mall for way TOO long. :dizzy: I had raisin bran for b-fast, an apple, 1/2 a subway sub for lunch, a rice krispie treat, 97% ff turkey chili for dinner and zucchini bread for dinner. Too many carbs, me thinks. I'm sure the scale will let me know tomorrow! :p

ratc0353 08-05-2011 09:16 AM

Ugh. Ate awful yesterday!! Work luncheon = greasy pizza. Then I left late and didn't have time to make the turkey chili I had planned...and family did Qdoba instead. I hate that their salads have so many calories!! Anywho, the crap from yesterday and all the salt put me pack up 1.7 lbs this morning :( Still down about 1.5 for the month so far, but will be doing protein bars for breakfast and lunch today, and extra workout time tonight!! Can't let one bad day get me down, right!?

nikkidee 08-05-2011 11:17 AM

aug 1 - 170.2
aug 2 - no WI
aug 3 - 168.4
aug 4 - 167.6

we worked out last night. and i plan to again today. but we also have dinner plans with my parents tonite - so im not expecting much tomorrow on the scale ;o)

ChickieChicks 08-05-2011 01:48 PM

lene- Ooo Ryan Reynolds....drool-worthy! I've never, ever, ever had a Hollywood crush, even as a teen. But I now consistenly dream of Alexander Skarsgaard. (from True Blood). It's shameful how much I think of him. LOL

Firefoxy- I'm not sure about TDAP, but my kids awlays get every vaccine they offer. We're military and it's just easier to go along with the program. Congrats on a small loss...every smidge helps. After the TOM bloat ceases, it's SO awesome seeing that big drop on the scale.

Wen to my fave Zumba class today with a friend trying to break into the weight-loss lifestyle. We had to leave 20 minutes early due to childcare stuff, but I still got a great workout. Then we hit the pool with the kids and a packed picnic lunch. It was a great way to end an otherwise blah week. I'm ready to be back to my fun self!

Any big plans this weekend?

Everyone keep up the good work!

nikkidee - Not too late at all! We're glad to have you. :) I included your goal in the updated list below.

ratc - Way to go getting right back on track!

Sorry I missed so much this past week while away; I will be here more often this week! I stayed active while on vacation and I did pretty well with my food (I was definitely under maintenance every day), and though my weight was down a little on Thursday I am back up 0.9 lbs this morning. I'm not pleased, but I just started my first TOM in 3 months this morning and so might be holding on to some extra water. We'll see over the next week I guess, and in the meantime I just need to keep on track.

Yay on the whoosh envelope! I love those!

My weight is thankfully down from yesterday's TOM high (that better have been the high, lol), but I didn't get as much of a drop as I'd hoped. Maybe I'll see a little more come off in the coming week?

Alright ladies, we're one week down for the month and still have 3.5 weeks to go - lots of time left to lose that weight! Let's use it to maximum effect!

ChickieChicks 08-07-2011 07:09 PM

Boo hiss. I'm up 2 pounds out of nowhere. I feel huge, but not bloated? Still 100% on plan and exercising. Ugh....

chickadee32 08-08-2011 09:33 AM

ChickieChicks: A wise friend here has frequently told me - don't stress! Stress can make things worse, and make the weight come off more slowly. I'm certain that being up 2 lbs overnight is nothing more than water weight, and in all likelihood it WILL come off shortly. :)

How did everyone's weekend go?

Today is the second day in a row that my scale has moved downward, and I'm really hoping this will be the new trend for a few weeks! 5 lbs to go until I get into the 180s, and I'd love to make some significant progress toward that goal this week.

Hope everyone has a great day!

ChickieChicks 08-08-2011 01:03 PM

TOM is coming. And I'm STOKED! Maybe for the first time in my life. LOL I've been feeling like poo, not motivated and this weird weight "gain". Voila! Just gotta suffer through it and stay OP and wait for this week to get back to normal. Sigh...deep breaths! ;-)

I did a killer workout with my hubby Saturday morning and did housework ALL day yesterday. My hubby and I go way overboard, so yesterday some of the things on my list were sweeping out my van, stocking chicken coop, making Cranberry Peach Conserve, cooking elaborate dinner, errands, painting the stairwell and hand rail, cleaning all 3 bathrooms meticulously and trying to wrangle the kids between all of that. My hubby helped with the painting and then was outside doing yard stuff all day.

Today was more of the same hectic. Buying school supplies, laundry, sweeping and dusting up and downstairs, waterplay with the kiddos, a 3.6 mile bike ride with my toddler on the kid-seat. I am pooped and VERY READY to get back to my hardcore workout days. It gives me an excuse to avoid housework for another week. ;-)

PghGal 08-08-2011 07:58 PM

Well, the weekend was rough. I worked out every day (Fri, Sat, Sun) but went over my calories Friday and Saturday. Although, when factoring in the calories burned during work-outs, I was within my limit. But dear Lord --- SODIUM was out of control ... which means retention of water!!

CW today is 271.0 ... SW was 275.5. Not bad, but I feel like I should be further along given the amount of working out I'm doing. Oh well ... going to keep plugging away this week and see how it goes.

Hope everyone else is doing well!! :D

Katybug 08-09-2011 02:20 AM

Like many of you, it seems, I have also been experiencing TOM fluctuations. I had a big loss yesterday morning but the past two days have been way off my usual schedule, with out of town friends staying with us. I missed workouts, had a few glasses of wine, and there was a lot of food around. I was fairly restrained, I thought, but this morning on the scale I was up THREE pounds! Yikes. Well..... I'm not too worried yet. I am sure my sodium levels were high in the last few days. So I am making sure to drink lots of water, and hopefully get back on track soon.

Has anyone else gained that much overnight, and how long did it take to come off? Would be great if it came off as fast as it went on, but I think I need to work extra hard this week!

lene1974 08-09-2011 06:09 AM

Well, I've had a rough couple of stress filled days. I have been sleep deprived, poor food choices and hadn't worked out. I am most definitely an emotional eater :(

My stress level is still high but I don't want that to ruin my efforts. Today's a new day and I'm going to be in control again.

Congrats to all of you who are doing so well! I'm hoping to join you in having some success in the near future too.

Have a good day everyone.

no TOM? I have PCOS, so my periods are crazy-iiregualr. But I just feel so weird. Blah!

I did Zumba this morning and I thought I was going to die! LOL It was one of my fave instructors, and he does a LOT of poppin' it. ;-)

Lene- It's okay! I promise. The worst part is convincing yourself that a small setback is just that...small. Just a blip on the radar. Jump back on the wagon and maybe you can think of a few things that help the stress besides food. I am a HUGE stress-eater, so this change has been so hard.
