Hello all I know I have been MIA for a while if you wouldn't mind I would really like to join in once again and try to get myself back on track. Through the last few months I have a new grandbaby he is perfect. I got a semi-promotion at work and that has been taking lots of time and energy. My family and I have now started a new gym and it has a pool and is open 24hrs a day most days of the week. I am still floating 198 -200 but at least I have not been gaining... With all of your help maybe you can help me get back on track and motivated. I have really missed checking in with all of you :)

Good afternoon everyone!
mystical-So good to have you back! Excellent job maintaining! What is you goal for the remainder of the month? I've been crunched for time, so haven't been on here as much as I'd like, but that should end shortly. This coming Monday I take my big certification exam for work. It involves a raise and increased responsibilities, so I REALLY want to pass! I was going to take it the 28th, but it worked into the schedule better for the 21st. The material is really tough and I'm struggling wth recalling everything, so if you're the praying type, please send one (or more) up for me. I was a good student in school, but obviously it's been awhile since I've had to study because my brain is resisting me! LOL On the health front, things are still going well, though they've slowed down. I'm less than a pound from my March goal now, but I was almost stagnant for the 4 days leading up to today. I was eating and exercising fine, but I know my water was low. Maybe that threw me off. Who knows? But, I'm glad I saw downward movement today. I needed the encouragement. I'm waiting to change my ticker until I see what tomorrow holds. I've been weighing 3-4 times a week (Monday counts officially), but I had weighed myself more this past week waiting for the number to drop...it just didn't until this morning. Maybe that was a sign to stop weighing myself so much! ;) Tomorrow will just be a confirmation weigh-in so I can change my ticker. Then I'll wait until the weekend. I don't know why I'm rambling on. I'm off to study. Have a wonderful day! |
My goal for the remainder of the month is 5lbs. May be a reach considering that the month is half over, but I'm feeling determined! :)

I was back up to 202 this morning I seem to keep gaining and losing the same 2-3 lbs lately. I have lost well over 50 lbs but it has all been the same 1 lb so discouraging sometimes. But today is a new day and I have to just keep moving forward. Does anyone have any suggestions for dinner/super time? I have odd hours and do not get home until 7pm I am thinking it should be a lighter dinner but I am not sure what to eat... HELP please.
Goal for the remaining of the month is to lose 3 lbs to be under 200 and to once and for all stay there... Wish me luck. :) |
 everyone! what's on the agenda today?

dcapulet - CONGRATS on meeting your March goal!!! I'm thrilled for you! :carrot:
Ms.P - I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you with your exam! I am studying for an important exam as well, and definitely know the feeling of your brain not retaining as much information as you'd like. I am sure, though, that you will remember much more than you think you do. Keep going, and good luck!!! Mystical - I eat my dinner very late almost every night - usually not until after the gym, which I get home from at 11pm. Maybe I shouldn't, but I usually just eat a regular meal at that time. Of course, I'm usually still up for another couple of hours after that. So, this morning was my official weigh-in, and I was extremely disappointed. I am technically down 1.6 lbs from last Wednesday's weigh-in, but I have been at 247.8 or 247.6 since last Thursday or Friday and this morning I was at 248.0 :(. I have been under my calorie limit every single day, have been drinking my water, and have been exercising. There is no way that I'm not burning more calories than I am taking in each day, and so I am really irritated by this slight gain. If anything, I was too low on my calories on a few days due to feeling crummy with TOM (finally ended yesterday after 9 days), and I know I haven't gotten enough sleep (because of schoolwork). I can only figure that starting C25K on Sunday and doing it again yesterday, with a day of strength training in between, has resulted in some water retention in my muscles, as I'm definitely more sore than usual. To add insult to injury, my husband happily announced to me last night that he's down to 236 pounds. Are you kidding me?? The man hasn't changed his eating (still eating lunch out every day, is having Wendy's and ice cream and candy and god knows what else), hasn't counted a single calorie, and hasn't done a minute of exercise, and he's down 7.1 lbs since the beginning of the month - while I saw a gain this morning, and overall I've seen only a 5.1 lb loss so far this month. GRRRRRRRRR!!! As you might imagine, my immediate response to him was more in the vein of "wtf??" rather than "congratulations, honey!" (and I feel a little bad about that). I'm going to wait and see what the scale says tomorrow morning before I change my ticker, as I'm really loathe to up it by those 0.2 lbs. Hopefully, hopefully, some of this is water weight, and I'll see the change on the scale soon. |

Oh, and I absolutely LOVE the quote that you have in your signature -- "Trying like crazy not to fit into my genes." :) |
Hey everyone! I realized I hadn't been checking in on this thread very often as of late, so I just wanted to pop in and say hi and that I'm still here, lol. Congrats on everyone's losses & lifestyle changes, and welcome to anyone new! My quick update is that I'm down to 240.4, so closing in on my goal for March and hoping I can hit it sometime this week. Still 1.8 more pounds to go!
dcapulet - Hey twin! Haha. Congrats on hitting your goal for March, and sorry about being late on saying so! :yay: MsP - Good luck on the exam! Also, you're getting so close...I'm cheering for you! :cheer3: Chickadee - Yes, a lot of those things can contribute to a bit of a stall -- i.e. not enough sleep, too few calories, new workouts causing water retention in the muscles, etc. So, don't give up, it's only very temporary. I've noticed that I tend to stall up with all of those factors. Also, the DH thing, I totally understand! Lol. Everyone loses weight differently, but there is an even farther gap between men and women and how they lose weight. Men usually have a much easier time than women because of their body composition vs ours. More base muscle mass as opposed to fatty tissues will always = higher metabolisms, plus the higher testosterone lends itself to more efficient fat loss to boot! Not fair! :p |
Thanks for all the encouragement for my exam, ladies! I sorta already feel better about it. It changes day to day! Anyway...
mystical-I'd be using the crockpot excessively. I don't think that's too late for a normal (not huge) meal as long as you're not going to bed right away or anything. chickadee-What are you studying for? Bummer about DH, but my guess is you're not eating enough. We forget that can stall us sometimes. That's a tricky balance sometimes though, but keep on doing the right things and the weight will drop! Time to study again. Lots going on here...very hard to focus on anything. My weight was almost as low as yesterday today, so I'll change my ticker to today's weight. |
hey guys i havent been online in like a week and im just checkin in. Hope everyone is doin good!! :)

Ophelia and MsP - thank you for the support. :) I have been trying to make sure I eat enough without adding empty calories or too much of a particular food group, and somedays that seems trickier than others. Unfortunately I never seem to be interested in eating more vegetables at the end of the day, which I could really use!
This morning I am back down, to 247.4 lbs. Not the bigger drop I was hoping for, but I'll definitely take it instead of the gain! Ophelia - congratulations on the loss, and getting so close to your goal! Any day now... :) MsP - I am studying for my qualifying/preliminary exam for my PhD program. My committee grilled me for 3 hours at my pre-prelim meeting, when I presented my dissertation proposal for the first time, and that was supposed to be the low-pressure, casual meeting! I'm pretty terrified about the upcoming exam. |
I found a cookbook for slow-cookers that I must have bought a few years back and didn't even realize I had one. There is a breakfast cereal that you can make, so when I wake up I will have a delicious bowl of oatmeal not to mention the house has a wonderful cinnamon, brown sugar smell :) I have been trying new dishes with couscous and quinoa lately and the family has been really supported about trying new things :)
