Allison: It hurts to sit for long periods of time, stand for long periods or lay down for long periods. So, I'm constantly up and down. How was the new wii game? I should get some of those myself, we have a wii, but I never use it.

Dance: How is your workout plan going? Running again?

As for me, I went to the doctor today and he said that he can't promise that everything will be fine in DC, but he thinks it's highly unlikely, so...looks like we're going. Foot is still really numb and feels like a dead weight. Weakness is getting worse, but what can you do? Pain is only bad if I sit for long periods of time.

So.....decision.....I'm having surgery. I'm trying to schedule it for next week, we'll see what happens. Turns out that it's an outpatient surgery, I don't have to have the fusion (thank goodness), so we'll see what happens. I should be good in a few weeks, mostly pain from the surgery itself.

That's what's happening in my world. Hope everyone is doing ok.

burgundyrayne 09-28-2010 08:48 PM

Vicky-that stinks there isnt a way for you to get comfortable. The wii game sucked. I thought since it was called fitness fun that I would be doing the fitness moves but its a point and click type game. Glad I only rented it. Dont overdo it in DC. Hopefully you can get your surgery scheduled and start on the road to recovery.

I was so lazy this morning up until about 1pm. Got up and went to lunch with Chris and some friends. Then wanted to come home and get my workout in. So I turned on the wii but couldnt get up enough energy to do the calorie burning exercises. I was only doing the fun ones. So I put on my shoes and started out on a walk. Called my sister while walking and before I knew it, I had gone 2 miles then had to turn around and walk back, so I got 4 miles in today. :carrot: Might do some step aerobics on wii while I watch Biggest Loser.

dancerindenver 09-29-2010 10:05 AM

burgundy - woohoo for 4 miles - good for you! I've been thinking of buying some audiobooks to walk with when my friends aren't available and running seems like it takes too much energy. Have you ever tried them?

maddiesmom - so, if it's not the fusion, what kind of surgery will it be? Are they pretty sure it will relieve your pain? I hope so. And I hope you will be able to find a way to enjoy your DC trip despite all the distractions.

I'm getting in a lot of walks but less runs (we're having a hot week, in the 90s) - I'm hoping to run a bit more when it cools off again. I continue to lose it in the evenings and go off plan. I'm going to the grocery store at lunch today to pick up some more healthy stuff and am headed to a friend's house tonight for a walk in her neighborhood so it should be an okay day.

Hope you're doing well!

burgundyrayne 09-29-2010 08:13 PM

Dance-I've never tried audiobooks while walking. Sometimes I remember to take my Ipod or sometimes I will call my mom or sister and talk while I walk. You're having a hot week and we are having a cooler week but its been nice, I can get walks in earlier. I've been doing good with the evenings. I always jump on the wii between 8 and 9 and workout for at least an hour. So that helps me to avoid the kitchen.

Vicky-how is your pain today??

So I am going to try to start my christmas shopping tomorrow if the kids will give me some ideas. If not, they get what I think they want. My niece in AL is easy, shes only 6 and wants anything she sees on tv. My nephews and niece here are undecided(they're 11 and 14)

Got a walk in today. Only went 2 miles today, got a later start so it started getting dark on us. Gonna turn the wii on after this.

Dance inspired me to get some cooking done for the week. So today I made mini turkey meatloaf, baked zucchini and carrots, and turkey stuffed cabbage and corn on the cob. It'll be nice to just have to warm something up for lunch. Chris wants KFC for dinner tomorrow so I have my healthy options already made.

Hope you are all good.

dancerindenver 09-30-2010 10:13 AM

Thank goodness, it's finally cooling off a bit here (we've been in the 90s for ages). So I can run whenever I want to today! I haven't been getting on the scale for the last two weeks which usually means I know I'm not being good and don't want to confront the reality of it. I'm thinking that if I can stick to plan really well through the weekend that maybe I'll be able to handle getting on the scale again on Monday - yikes.

Here's my food plan -
B: cereal with strawberries and skim milk
L: pb & low sugar J on whole wheat english muffin, apple
D: lean steak, mushrooms, sauteed spinach, half baked potato with ff sour cream

Anyone with me for miles today?

burgundyrayne 09-30-2010 08:39 PM

Dance-good luck with the scale on Monday. I was still at 189.0 this morning.

I am having some major munchies tonight. I need to start a workout so I stay out of the kitchen. I wanted to get to 188 tomorrow but I dont know if it will happen. I did walk 2 miles today with my SIL at the park. Wanted to go 2 more when I got home with the dogs but ran out of daylight. I have the boys tomorrow, hopefully I can get a walk in with the 4 y/o.

dancerindenver 10-01-2010 01:01 PM

Ugh - I decided to get a sneak peak at the scale and it so ain't pretty - I'm back up a few again. I can't seem to stay at 165 - gee, could it be my total lack of discipline? ;)

And I had totally forgotten but we are going to New Orleans for a long weekend starting next Friday so I have a week to look cute in my travel clothes again. Even if I'm not at my lowest, it's really nice to have clothes that are comfortable, cute and flattering for a change. Anyone spent any time in New Orleans? I'm definitely open to ideas. I figure we'll be walking our feet off every day so I doubt I'll have trouble burning off what I eat.

burgundy - how did you do with the munchies?

burgundyrayne 10-02-2010 09:31 PM

Dance-you'll get back to 165. Sounds like a fun weekend you have coming up. I have never been to New Orleans. At least you can get lots of walks in.

I kinda slacked yesterday. The wii said I only burned 166 cals. I was just so tired when I got home at 730. Had the boys all day. I know why, TOM showed up this morning. So I worked hard today and took a walk. It was so cold out though. Only 48 degrees, bbrrrrr, too early to be that cold.

I added all the calories that were burned on the wii and walks and I am at 2500 today. I was hoping to be at 3500 tomorrow. Dont know if I can burn 1000 tomorrow. Im really gonna try. Want to try to get in a 4 mile walk.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

katylil 10-03-2010 08:57 AM

Hello ladies!
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on here. I've been guiltily (is that the right word?) reading you all being on track and exercising and felt really bad about being so bad these past 2 weeks. But I went food shopping the other day and stocked up on loads of canned soup and veggies (I can never get through all my fresh stuff before it goes off so I've started to just buy loads of different types of frozen) and chicken breasts and cans of tuna and fish steaks and grapes and low cal yoghurts. I had a boiled egg and two pieces of toast with marmite for breakfast, just had a can of tomato soup and a ton of grapes for lunch and I'm planning on a chicken stirfry for dinner so hopefully I'm back in business! :)

I've managed to work my way back up to 151 thanks to the last 2 weeks (because basically my diet consisted of toast, noodles, pizza and every type of junk food imaginable plus alcohol) so I'm hoping to be back to ticker by the 15th of October which is when my mum is coming over to visit.

Maddiesmom: Ouch. Really bad times. I hope the surgery goes well and that you start to feel better soon! :)

Burgundy: I feel ya on the 48 degree thing (I had to look up the equivalent in celsius on my google unit converter!) as we're having the same! Plus it's raining ALL the time. Really takes away and feeling of going for a run, all I want to do is stay in, cuddle up with a blanket and my laptop and eat hot food! Well done on the 2500 by the way! I'm sure you can get the 1000 in no problem :)

Dancer: Oh wow New Orleans. That's gonne be amazing! :) I'd love to go there one day. There's so many places I want to visit!!! I'll bet the exercise you'll get from walking around all day will be brilliant too!! :)

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

dancerindenver 10-03-2010 01:41 PM

Hey girls - got in a good run yesterday but my knee is achy today so I should probably give it a day off, maybe just a long walk later.

Hope you're doing well - I'll come back and post more later...

burgundyrayne 10-03-2010 02:56 PM

Katy-glad you came and updated us and now that you are back on track you can get back to ticker weight.

Dance-hope your knee feels better.

We've had a lazy day. Just laid in bed and watched a movie, Death at a Funeral. It was pretty funny. I have to get a walk in today. Probably wont be able to walk tomorrow. Im gonna have both the boys, plus my cousins 2 month old.

The scale was nice to me this morning. I am at 188.6!!! 2 more lbs to 50. Gotta think of a good reward.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

katylil 10-03-2010 05:20 PM

Well done Burgundy! :D Congratulations that is brilliant! Death at a Funeral is hilarious. I remember randomly picking it to watch with some friends a coupel of years ago. It was so NOT what we were expecting!

Hope your knee feels better Dancer! :)

dancerindenver 10-04-2010 04:59 PM

Hey girls! Sooo not in the mood to buckle down and work today so I thought I would see what everyone's up to.

katylil - sounds like you're all stocked up with healthy stuff - good for you!

burgundy - I love those lazy days - glad you had a good one.

I haven't gotten my exercise in yet today - am thinking a run later as my knee seems to be back to normal. I'm still a few pounds above ticker so I really need to buckle down so I fit well in my clothes for our trip this weekend. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get all the way down to goal then I remember that 165 was my initial goal. Somehow that makes me feel a little better ;) Silliness. Hope you all are having a great day...

burgundyrayne 10-05-2010 05:41 PM

Thanks katylil. How is it going this week?

Dance-it was so nice to have a lazy day. Havent done that in a while. I remember you having your goal as 165 so I say you are doing great.

Took a short walk with some friends today. Might get another one in in a little while. I have the boys from 1-midnight tomorrow. Planning on taking them and their bikes to a park so I can walk and they can ride and play. That means I have to clean the backseat of Chris' truck out, their bikes wont fit in my trunk.

Nothing exciting happening here this week. How is everyone else??

MaddiesMom 10-06-2010 10:15 PM

Hi ladies,

I'm back from DC and am glad to be home! It was a crazy whirlwind of a week, but I know I walked a ton of miles when I was there (probably not a great thing seeing that my leg is still numb). I fought through it and had fun with my hubby and daughter....check out the pics on FB and you can see the dress, etc. I actually had a great time and wasn't too self concious about how I looked in my dress. Probably the best I've felt dressed up in a long time.

Just wanted to give you all a quick note to know I was back. I'm really going to catch up and do more personal stuff later - I promise!

I have surgery tomorrow morning - met with the doc and found via the MRI that a piece of bone is pushing on my nerve, which is causing the numbness and pain. They are going to remove it and I may be doing PT for a couple of weeks to bring the strength back in my left side. Still very week on that side and the numbness is still there - but may not go away for a couple of weeks or months! Ick. I will be done with surgery by 11 - recovery until 2:00. Then it's home. They say I should be able to walk around and be back to normal by the end of next week - but I'm taking 2 weeks off to recover.

Allison: I did see that you were at 188! CONGRATS! I promise to catch up as soon as this whole thing is over!

Talk to you all soon!
