jcatron243 03-22-2010 10:40 AM

MamaP~ Great losses so far you are totally rocking it!!

E~First hour and a half done. Now I'm just waiting for "busytown" to open so I can go back 830 and get the rest in.

editing~E~Got in my second workout. I saw a friend of mine at the gym. She just wanted to chat. I didn't want to be rude, but I needed to finish my workout. Then she kept looking me up and down. (she did the same thing a month ago when I saw her.) She asked for advice on her workout so I gave her some Then I HAD to move on. I didn't mean to be rude, but I am their to workout not socialize.

This is conference week. Yay. I know how brilliant Makenna is, but I like to see her scores and stuff.

mtiger 03-22-2010 05:44 PM

Week 1- 177.8
Week 2- 180 YUCK!!
Week 3- 181.2 TOM should start tomorrow
Week 4- 180.6 Not a lot of progress.
Week 5- 178.6 A little better
Week 6- 178.8 See the problem?

Jeni- I bought a Gruve. Sort of like a bodybugg, just a bit different. Now if the darn thing would only get here. It has been a week today. I was hoping I'd see it today, but nope.

emiloots 03-22-2010 07:57 PM

Hey ladies -

This challenge is almost over already - I can't believe it! I don't think I'll hit the 155 I was hoping for but I think I've lost maybe a few pounds - we'll see. Doing good, work is insane so between that, the kids and household stuff I feel like I've hardly had time to breathe lately.

Jeni - hope you had a great vacation!

MamaP - awesome losses, keep it going!

Mindy - I feel you, losing is hard - harder than I remember it being the last time around. Keep it up, hopefully you like the Gruve :)

It's late so I'll just do tomorrow's WEED:
W - 64+
E - really hoping this rain lets up and I can take a nice long walk with the boys
E - OP, plan my meals and stick to it
D - work on one 'mess' that's stressing me out tomorrow (there are so many, you can definitely tell where my kids and husband have been)

jcatron243 03-23-2010 05:27 AM

Mindy~I hope it works for you!

Emily~I had a wonderful time, thanks. I totally understand the messes the kids and DH leave behind. I'm still trying to organize the stuff from vacation, and the kids are so happy to have their toys back; I have double messes.

Scale is on its way back down. 140 today. No workouts toay though, I am going back to work after 10 days. Ick.

W 64 oz
E nothing. working today.
E 1200 cals
D not to fall asleep. I haven't worked in a while.

Dab52776 03-23-2010 07:09 AM

Good morning girls!

Emily... It's hard to believe that the challenge is almost over :dizzy: I'm not going to meet my goal either :(

W: 96 oz
E: full body weights...done
E: on plan
D: Spring is here.... that means bathing suits are right around the corner

PopcornGal 03-23-2010 11:25 AM

Hey ladies -

It is been a long time and I know that you are almost done with this challenge but I felt like the daily WEED helped me so I would like to try this again.

I let myself eat badly when I got sick mid-December and through the holidays. They got even worse in January when my office was letting the wrong people go from their jobs. Ever since I can't seem to stop gorging myself in the evenings and on the weekends.

Thanks for your support.

Okay here is my WEED for today-

W - 56 oz. of water
E - 30 minutes of exercise
E - 1400 calories
D - brush my teeth early so I am less likely to eat

I hope you are all doing well.

jcatron243 03-23-2010 08:09 PM

 PopcornGal  its so good to see you!!!

Dawn~I never meet my weight goals, so I stopped setting them. I just focus on meeting my Daily WEED. The weight will come off.

Everythings been great so far today. I hope I make it through swim lessons.

onestar 03-23-2010 11:02 PM

hi all! hope everyones week is going ok so far. work was stressful today. i have been controlling myself as far as portion size and selection of food goes and i've been exercising regularly.. so everything is going pretty smooth right now. will weigh in tomorrow. just wanted to say hi.

Momto6inOH 03-24-2010 07:24 AM

Hi everyone! Just a quick post to get my focus back. I've had a tough 10 days between a very bad cold (stlll have it some), TOM started Monday and just everyday "stuff." Good news is that I'm still in the 160's (168 this a.m.) and have hope I can still hit 165 by Easter. Will post later...

Have a great day all! Jeanette

jcatron243 03-24-2010 09:24 AM

 Onestar and Janette!

Not a lot of time this morning. The kids both have dentist appts and I over slept. Not my normal behavior.

W 80 oz
E 35 cardio/ 10 row/ 15 weights. overslept so no class and 2 miles today
E 1400 cals
D keep sane.

Oh the scale was back to 136 today. :) I'm glad all that weight was water weight.

PopcornGal 03-24-2010 09:34 AM

Good morning.

As before I will try to report on my previous day's WEED that is part of what helps me stick with it by knowing I will be "accountable".

I did better than expected on the exercise - I ended up walking 3.2 miles after work on a bike trail. Met the water goal which is good because when I don't write it down I don't hydrate nearly enough. I actually came in around 1200 calories but that was due to coming out of my dog class totally frustrated with our lack of progress. I called an out of state mentor and we ended up chatting until 10:30 pm so there was no time to eat anything anyway.

In the midst of trying to get refocused on my weight I have been reassessing my training with the dog. We are trying to overcome a bad foundation and me making my criteria for him consistent and clear which has not always been the case in the past. I don't want to give up as he is four and a half and in his athletic prime but some days the lack of progress gets frustrating.

The other component that seems to be getting to me and I am sure to lots of people is this very long dreary winter. Sunshine where are you?

Thanks for listening to me sing the blues.

Jenni - I like that mentality of focusing on your daily WEED instead of a particular weight loss goal.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 oz.
E - 30 minutes
E - 1200 - 1300 calories
D - work on jumping exercise with the dog

Hope you all have a good WEED day.

zoochick777 03-24-2010 11:36 AM

Week 2: 180
Week 3: 177.8
Week 4: 178
Week 5: 177.6
Week 6: 177

Well at least it went down a little bit. I didn't stay completely on plan last week. I caved on some ice cream and 2 cupcakes toward the end of the week. I do great during the day, but tend to eat to large of a portion for dinner. I think once I fix that I will begin losing again. We'll see.

emiloots 03-24-2010 03:46 PM

Jeanette - Hope you feel better soon! I was sick for almost a month, the older I get the longer these things seem to linger :(

Onestar - good luck with your weigh in

Popcorn - I agree that the winter months make it hard to be positive and focused sometimes. I usually just want to curl up on the couch with some hot tea, makes you crave the 'comfort' things...food, inactivity etc... I'm so glad spring is here :)

Jeni - Hope you got everything done!

Kasey - Hey, 3 pounds is 3 pounds, more than 0 - that's how I look at it - congrats!

Today went OK, ate a little too much candy (darn Reisens - I love those things!) Dan's working late so I'm trying to figure out what to make for dinner that doesn't involve drive thru. On a side note, doesn anyone know how to cook beets? I love them and bought some at Whole Foods yesterday, but sadly don't know how to prepare them. Hope everyone has a great rest of their day!

W - 64+
E - walking with the kids
E - eat healthy for the remainder of the day
D - today's mess, the front hall closet (insert dramatic music here...)

jcatron243 03-24-2010 04:55 PM

The dentist went ok today. The breakfast afterwards wasnt. owell. I did get in 50 minutes of cardio. :)

Momto6inOH 03-24-2010 06:46 PM

Emily - Roasted beets are wonderful. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Scrub the beets & toss them with olive oil in a small roasting pan (1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil for 4 small beets about 2" in diameter). Roast the beets until tender about 45 minutes to 1 hour, cool, peel (with plastic gloves if you can to avoid red hands) and cut into 1/2" wedges. I got this recipe at a cooking class. The beets were used in "Salad of mixed greens, walnuts, roasted beets and goat cheese." They would be wonderful as a side dish as well - just roasted. If you would like the entire salad recipe including the orange/champagne vinegar dressing, I can type it out.

I went to doctor this afternoon and was prescribed a Z-pack for sinusitis and pink/irritated ears. Even though I don't like to take antibiotics, guess I will take my 2 for today next. Just want to feel better....

Dab52776 03-25-2010 07:02 AM

W: 80 oz
E: full body weights
E: on plan
D: Get some work done ;)

I have to get to work early (to get my "D" for today ;) ).... so I'll be back later for a more personal reply!

onestar 03-25-2010 08:28 AM

jcatron243 03-25-2010 10:00 AM

Good morning everyone.

My body is revolting. Ive been so exhausted since my trip all I want to do is sleep.

I have to get my house back in order today.

W 80 oz
E 35 minute cardio/10 row machine/ 15 weights
E 1400 cals. I need to focus more on my calories in.
D Get my house in order.

Nixmom 03-25-2010 10:13 AM

PSST~ I miss you girls. Back next challenge. Okay?

PopcornGal 03-25-2010 11:07 AM

Good Morning -

Yesterday's WEED was only fifty percent succesful. I hit my water and eating goals but I only got in twenty minutes of exercise and was so exhausted when we finally got home from our volunteer work that we didn't do our jump training.

I did start today off positive, if a little expensive, I picked up a salad from Panera bread on my way to work, so I already have my lunch planned.

Also with just three days into this I am already feeling physically better. And even when I am exhausted at the end of the day it is a good exhaustion.

Jenni, my house is out of order too but I haven't been anywhere.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 oz.
E - 30 minutes of cardio
E - 1200-1300 calories
D - work on jumping exercise with the dog

Hoping for lots of good WEED for everyone.

jcatron243 03-25-2010 01:03 PM

Hiya Kris! I'm missing you too!

Popcorn~ 20 minutes of exercise is great. Life is hectic, I'm glad you got time to squeeze something in.

I just got back from my workout. I took 8 days off from running, and now I can barely finish a 5k. Before I left, I pushed my body to the extreme. My legs were sore, but my stamina was great. Now my stamina sucks and my legs are great.

So I got in 3.25 miles in 36 minutes. Then I did about 10 minutes of weights, then I did 15 minutes on the elliptical. The row machines have gotten very popular lately, they were full when I wanted them.

mtiger 03-25-2010 06:42 PM

I've had nothing to report really. Everything is still the same around here. I am still waiting on my Gruve. Almost 2 weeks and still no sigh of it. What's up with that???

Dab52776 03-25-2010 08:35 PM

Popcorn... Are you training your dog for some type of show? And it's awesome that you are already noticing positive changes!!!

Jenni... Ease yourself back into the running and I'm sure you'll be up to your old standard in no time!

I decided to switch up my rest day from today to tomorrow, so I did my lifting tonight. That way I can get into work early tomorrow morning.

See you tomorrow!

jcatron243 03-26-2010 05:31 AM

Mindy~you should be getting it soon. Where is it coming from?

Dawn, are you getting your stuff caught up?

I was shocked at swim lessons last night. Tommy's teacher decided to move him up a level. I don't know if he is quite up to where he should be to move up. I already had signed him up for the same level last week. So now I have to wait unil next week to see if we get in. (the class is almost full, so it will go either way.) I think if we stay back one more session, and if we have a new teacher, we will stay put for a while.

W 64 oz
E 35 minutes
E 1200 cals
D keeping my fingers crossed that Tommy gets into rays!

Momto6inOH 03-26-2010 09:32 AM

Happy Friday everyone! I saw 166 on scale this a.m. - maybe, just maybe if I behave myself this weekend and get in some exercise I'll see 165 on my official weigh-in Monday! Also starting to feel better even though we have snow on ground again this a.m. Well - it should melt in time for our local Easter Egg hunt tomorrow. (3 of our boys are still 4th grade & under. Kinda wish my oldest could still do it. He's a very tall 6th grader & just keeps growing out of pants! )

Popcorn - glad you are feeling it! Jeni - hope you get your stamina back fast!

For today:

W: 64 oz.
E: 20 minutes elliptical
E: 1200-1400 calories
D: Good work day, make my boys first night of Spring Break fun

PopcornGal 03-26-2010 03:49 PM

Yikes, today has been busy at work.

Yesterdays WEED was successful on all but the food. I had trouble at the end of the day.

Jenni - Unless you think Tommy would be frustrated then consider moving him up. He might like the challenge.

Momto6 - it sounds like the scale is moving in the right direction.

Dawn - I train the dog in agility. I am actually doing some retraining and trying to reinforce the behavior I want so I try to work with him 5-15 minutes everyday. I am trying to reteach him to jump using his back end and that is the jumping exercises I keep referring to. It is important to keep working him because in the excitement of competing he is most likely to revert to his bad habits and improper foundation.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 ozs. (I am behind)
E - 30 minutes of cardio
E - 1400 - 1500 calories (I am feeling a little hungry today - not good)
D - train the dog

emiloots 03-26-2010 05:09 PM

Momto6 - making the beets tonight, I'm going to roast them how you said and then throw a little balsamic glaze on them, may toss some carrots in to roast at the same time. Looking forward to it - thanks for the recipe :)

Jeni - you'll get back to form in no time. I remember when I ran (seems so long ago) that I'd overtrain and have no legs if I tried to run every day - seemed the every other day gave me the best workouts where I didn't poop out 10 minutes into my run.

Connor was home sick with a respiratory thing today so I tried to just declutter and edit some other stuff we have sitting around. Kitchen looks pretty good for it if I do say so myself. Having roasted veggies for dinner, haven't figured out the rest yet...

WEED -
W- 64+
E - clean clean clean
E - pretty good so far, had a couple mini twix but the rest got shipped off to daycare for their easter egg fillings so they're gone from sight!
D - possibly start attacking the basement this weekend, we'll see...

Have a great weekend ladies!

mtiger 03-26-2010 07:42 PM

Shake your Gruve thing, yeah, yeah!!! It finally came. It will monitor my body for a week, then tell me how many calories I should eat to lose a pound a week. I am excited to see if this works. I'll report as I go.

Scale said 175.8 this morning. I said D*** liar. Got on again, 176.8, 2 pounds less than yesterday. Are ya for real?? It was probably a cruel joke and will like 180 tomorrow.

onestar 03-27-2010 12:06 AM

still here... just chuggin' along. i actually got off of work early today (i was supposed to anywyas) so me and my boyfriend went to the park and got in some exercise. jogging a total of 15 minutes. and walking about an hour. we found a cool little path that ppl obviously use for incline type exercises. it was neat so ran and walked up and down that a few times. alo did my wieghts tonight. my arms are shaky now lol! food is going pretty well and the reps are actually starting to bring healthy food yay!

jcatron243 03-27-2010 05:28 AM

Janette~yay for 166! Have fun at the easter egg hunt!

Popcorn~Keep up the good work. We will move Tommy up if they are able to switch him for me. But if the class fills up then we are out of luck.

Emily~I hope Conner gets better soon.

Mindy~Yay on seeing 176! I'm excited to see how your Gruve thing works.

Onestar~Great Job!!! Your arms will build their strength back!

Yesterdays WEED when great! I ended up running a slow paced 40 minutes. I got in 3.4 miles. Today my foot hurts because of it. :( I'm going to get in some good stretching, and hopefully that solves the problem.

Today~

W 64 oz
E 35 minutes (elliptical or bike to baby my foot)
E 1200 cals
D Its going to be a Nutty day. we will be short handed to the extreme. We will make it through though.

mtiger 03-27-2010 10:41 AM

Jeni- You get up so early!! I can't keep myself from taking off the Gruve and hooking it up to the PC to see what it is doing. I think it is off an hour because of daylight savings and don't know how to fix it. Oh well. This should be very interesting.

176.6 today. No joke!!! My lowest ever was 176.4, so I'm close. If I could sneak under 176, that would be awesome.

emiloots 03-27-2010 11:07 AM

Hey Ladies -

I bit the bullet and joined a local CSA, I've been thinking about it for the last two years but finally did it. The harvest season is late May through November, considering that all of the produce is organic I think it's a pretty fair price. Can't wait to pick up my first share :)

Peeked at the scale this morning and it was 161, so a little over 4 pounds - I'm happy with that. Maybe by Monday it'll be 160 - that would be great!

Jeni & Onestar - great job on the workouts!

Mindy - it's really easy to get obsessive about the numbers and checking, definitely cool to see it all laid out in front of you though. Hope it helps make the journey easier!

W - 64+
E - walking
E - OP, minimal processed foods etc...
D - buy the kids sneakers, poor Des is still in his leater winter shoes - this is going to be a pricey afternoon...

Have a great day everyone!

onestar 03-27-2010 12:09 PM

yay! the scale said 173 two days in a row... i'll take it. i'm really enjoying fit day. its beautiful in houston today so we'll try to get outside in a bit. have a nice day ladies!

jcatron243 03-27-2010 08:24 PM

Just a quickie check in~

I only did 30 minutes for my workout. A very slow 20 minute run, my foot was feeling fine until about 18 minutes so I finished out 20 min then switched to the eliptical for 10. I skipped out on the last 5 just because I was hungry and DH has Taco Salad for me :)

Emily~Onestar Congrats on the losses.

Mindy~I'm excited for you. Ive heard good things about those gadget things. (yours is the first gruve I've heard of though)

jcatron243 03-28-2010 05:14 AM

Nothing to report since yesterday.

W 64 oz
E stretching and abs
E 1200 good cals
D convince DH to do the dishes while I'm at work. :)

mothermavis 03-28-2010 07:18 AM

Morning everyone. Looks like as is going well. I am using today to refocus, get some groceries and get back on track.

Those who know me, know there has been a lot of out of control stuff over the last few months. I used to be so focused, but life got away from me.

Yesterday was my MIL's funeral. Today, I am back here to get myself moving in the right direction again. Will be hectic with my FIL, hubby, house and 2 jobs, but I can probably just use my time I used to spend watching the kids stuff before they went to college for Dad.

Anyway, here I am.

W 100
E on my way to go for a little jog (also found a walking buddy!)
E OP
D I need to do this, the extra weight feeds the depression and then I drown my sorrows in food, it is a vicious circle.

mtiger 03-28-2010 11:02 AM

Well you guys, the Gruve is very intresting. It provides a ton of info on my activity throughout the day. It is monitoring for a week before it decides what my burn should be each day. This should be interesting.

Today I was 177. Not bad. TOM will be here this week sometime. I have been under 180 for 20 days now. Don't want to go over it now. If I can just stay under through TOM I would be delighted. We shall see.

We have conferences next week, M and W till 8:30. That really screws up my evening. Will have to try working out at 9:00 when I get home? Yuck!!! I'll have to do it though to keep things as normal as possible for the Gruve tracking.

Doing it this time, Mindy!!

jcatron243 03-28-2010 09:08 PM

 just a quick pop in.

Mindy~Mak had conferences last week. Hers was pretty good, but I think her teacher is a bit tough on the other kids. Her teacher also got sick during the conference (I thought I was going to wear her lunch a couple of times). Lukily the conference was quick because Mak is a good student.

MM~I'm so sorry about your MIL. I miss you, I hope you can reclaim yourself soon.

Today has been great, except my tummy is telling me some scary things. I hope I am not getting sick.

No workout today, gym is closed when I get home.

WEED is ok so far!
