W.O.W. No Foolin its Easter Challenge~~Join Us

:bunny2: :o
Easter and April Fools day are so close this year that we are naming the challenge after both. This challenge is about 7 weeks and will run from Today Feb 15 through April 5.

For any newbies, the traditional copy and paste:

Women on... WHAT??

Okay, let me explain that "Women on WEED" is not what you might be thinking. During previous challenges, a group of us formed a great bond, and we've been challenge buddies ever since. We use the word "WEED" as a mnemonic device to set daily goals, an easy and very specific way to remind yourself during your day to take care of your body, and to nurture your Mind, Mouth and Muscles... it really does help. After all, we are all taking this a day at a time, right?

If you join this challenge, you will see it often - and you are encouraged to give it a try. Here's what it stands for:

W - Water intake. Set a daily goal for how much water you're going to drink. Although there is conflicting research as to how much to actually consume in a day, we all agree it is important to drink lots to stay healthy. So make it a goal!

E - Exercise. Efficient, healthy weight loss isn't going to happen unless you incorporate some kind of physical activity in your life. Everyone does it differently; some go to the gym, some work out at home, and some find ways to sneak in little bits of exercise all throughout the day. Set yourself a goal, even if it's small. Little bits done often WILL add up over time!

E - Eats. Being that we all have different eating plans and weight loss philosophies, this is sort of a wild card. Whatever plan you're on, set yourself a plan-appropriate daily eating goal for the day. Don't forget to make it specific!

D - Daily goal/Daily affirmation. This is another wild card. It doesn't even have to be weight-loss related! This is the spot where you list something you want to get accomplished. Or, you can use "D" for a a daily affirmation - it's an opportunity to say something good and positive about yourself. Sometimes, when we fall short - and we ALL do sometime - we are tempted to berate ourselves. Although it's good to recognize when we don't reach our goals, it's also good to remind ourselves of the awesome parts of ourselves. So go ahead and remind yourself of that in the "D" part of WEED.

Well here it is! Jump right in, tell us about yourselves, your goals, your home lives, your healthy plan, etc. We LOVE newbies! And we LOVE our regulars! Welcome back!

jcatron243 02-15-2010 05:47 AM

I'm Jeni. I've been a WEEDer since the challenges began about 3 years ago (maybe longer) Ive had my good challenges and bad ones, but it always comes down to WEED. I don't lose weight very fast, but the scale is only one judge of how healthy I am.
I usually post my official w/i's with the weeks new thread. Every monday We start a new thread.

:egg:
Week 1: 138

I have 2 kids and a hubby who are great. I work a crazy schedule, 12 hour days 4am-4pm. But the way my schedule works I have a four day weekend every other weekend. (I also only have to work 15-16 days a month)

W~I usually drink 64-100 oz of water in a day. It depends on my workout and how much sodium I eat.

E~I am a runner. I run anywhere from 2-3.75 miles per workout day. I am pretty vigorous with my workouts. Right now I workout most days. After work I do 35 minutes of cardio. Days off I workout anywhere from 1-2.5 hours.

E~ I am a calorie counter. Depending on the day and the intensity of my workout I eat anywhere from 1200-1500 calories. I dont eat carbs or starches in the evening for dinner. I always make sure I get some carbs and protein in after my workouts.

D Usually surrounds housework or to keep motivated at work. I remind myself that the scale shouldn't determine How I feel about myself or what I eat for the day.

TIARA 02-15-2010 07:15 AM

Hey im gonna post my weight 2mo.. Between my bday and valentines day im afraid to see what the scale has to say..I will check in and say my intro 2mo .. see you then

mtiger 02-15-2010 10:10 AM

Jeni- Looks like you didn't do as bad as you thought. Starting at 138, huh??

this is the start of my 3rd year here on this thread. Starting losing slowly but steadily. I have been stuck for several months now, like 5. I am 49, pre-menopause, Yuck!! I think that messes me up more than anything. I eat between 1200-1660 calories, workout almost everyday and still remain stuck.

Week 1- 177.8 Pretty good for me.

Dab52776 02-15-2010 02:02 PM

I'm pretty new to this site and would love to join you girls... I really need some accountability!!!!

A little bit about me... I'm Dawn. I'm 33 yo, married w/ no kids... just one goofy dog. I'm a teacher, so if I ever mention "my kids" I really mean my students ;) I have pcos, which makes weight loss very slow and difficult for me... but I keep on pushing. I've been working on losing weight for about 2 years and have managed to eke out 20 lbs... I'm ready to keep working towards my goal!

I'm starting the challenge at 175. I'd love to be in the 160s by the end of the challenge :crossed:

Water: I aim for 96 oz per day. One of my goals is the limit my coffee to 3 days per week or less.

Exercise: I'm currently doing a 6 day per week plan that alternates cardio and pilates. My goal is to continue with this, at least for the first half of the challenge.

Eating: This is the area that I'm going to need the most encouragement. I try to eat clean (unprocessed, whole foods), but I've been very stressed lately and this hasn't been happening. My goal will to be on track with this at least 80% of the time.

Daily: With the stress I'm feeling lately, this will probably revolve around just taking a few minutes each day to relax, and to acknowledge any successes that I do have.

I look forward to getting to know each of you!!

emiloots 02-15-2010 02:41 PM

Hey Ladies -

Well I'm starting off this challenge at 165.4 - we did eat very heavy last night for Vday but it was my weight this morning. My goal is to be in the 150s at the end of this challenge (155 would be nice). For any newcomers my name is Emily, I'm 30, married with two boys (3 & 1). I work full time outside of the house and am really trying to strike balance between all the demands in my life. We're debating (and debating) on having a 3rd child so I'd really like to get back to a healthy weight before we possibly try for another.

Tiara - Happy belated birthday, amazing weight loss during the last challenge!

Jeni - thanks for starting the new thread!

Dab - Welcome!

Week 1: 165.4

W - 64+
E - I try and do what I can, gym isn't an option for me right now so just trying to up my general activity level
E - I fluctuate between WW points and counting calories (I should really pick one huh)
D - striving for balance, I don't know that I'll ever achieve anything close to it but I'm always trying

Timoba 02-15-2010 02:52 PM

Jumping right in! I'm don't have an "ideal" number that I want the scale to show for easter, but know that i'm planning to do my best between now and then. so far since joining this site 1/24, i have lost 9 lbs.

pokeycactus 02-15-2010 03:28 PM

Hi everyone! I'm new and NEED TO STAY ACCOUNTABLE TO SOMETHING. My name is Rachel, I'm 25 and live in Mesa, AZ with my husband, no kids. I work for a pain clinic and really enjoy my work.

My highest weight was around Thanksgiving 2009, I weighed 245. Since then, I was down to 210 on this past Friday, and then this morning, I'm up to 216. What in the world...so obviously, I need some help. So I'm asking you all to help me! I did great with the first ~30 pounds, and now I've been stuck and getting motivated is hard.

W - It's sporadic! I usually drink between 30 and 96 oz a day. I know - big range. So I'm going to start shooting for the 96 oz a day.

E - Staying motivated to exercise is hard for me. I lost the first 30 or so pounds by going to Zumba and I LOVE it. However, my work schedule has picked up and it's I've been giving myself the excuse that it's difficult to work a hard, full day of work, drive an hour in traffic, and then go to class. So my goal is going to be getting in at least 8 hours of exercise per week. Don't ask me how I came up with that number, but I like it! :)

Eating - I generally do okay, except on the weekends. I count calories and depending on if I work out, eat between 1200 - 1500 per day. Weekends are, in a word, BAD. I need to get a lot better on the weekends.

Daily goal/affirmation - I think I need to be nicer to myself, as funny as that sounds. I rag on myself constantly and if asked, could name any numbers of flaws with myself. I also am trying hard to be more organized, and so I think I will rotate between liking something, anything about myself, and a daily organizational/housework type goal.

My main goal in all of this is to be in the low 190s by Easter. Can you girls help me?! I want to be helpful to all of you too!!! :) Here's to the great friendships I hope to make!!!

Nixmom 02-15-2010 04:12 PM

Hey girls! Sorry I fizzled out on the last week or so of the V-day challenge. Lots in my head, lots in my life is going bonkers. I have had to make some changes and cut myself some slack. I have opted out of the bootcamp I was doing 1/2 way through this 6 week session. They are crediting me for 3weeks of the next one (starting March 8th). It has been too hard and mentally draining (even as an obligation JEN) to pull myself together to get there. Not to mention, I force myself to go then undo any progress with stress eating because I am trying to cram my life around it. So for me, a 3 week hiatus there.

I am going to gracefully bow out of all threads but this one too. I cant keep up, and love you girls here, so I'll be here more.

Hello to the newbies! I say it everytime, you will grow to love these chicks! We work hard to keep our minds right, and enjoy each others successes.... and pull each other out of the pits from time to time too!

I am 38, recently married, have 4 kids/step kids (20,10,8,5). Work full time and own 2 businesses with my hubby that are absolutely out of control at the moment (property cleanups on foreclosures and air conditioning service/repair). It takes money to make money and we are trying to grow our businesses on a shoestring. Also, trying to get out of debt this year, tax time will be a like a "pick a door" gameshow.. not sure what we win/lose. I am battling quitting smoking, battling my weight, and trying to cuss less :o. So far, I have dropped and regained the same fricken weight for the last 2 months. I am taking the 3 weeks mentioned above to focus on eating right and quitting the nictine frenzy.

So I am glad to see so many people back! Tiara happy belated birthday! Mindy - nice loss!!! Hello everyone else! Cant wait to catch up again!

I'm off to do paperwork for the rest of the day and will check in with you all later!

farn00a57 02-15-2010 05:23 PM

Hi all! I'm pretty new too, only been on this site for about two weeks since I started my new diet or I mean lifestyle change! :) My name is Ashley and I live in Minnesota. I'm 23 and I am a full time student and also work full time retail sales. Have been heavy my entire life, I think I was unfortunately given a very slow metabolism! excuses right? I would love to join this competition! I have a feeling it's going to help make losing weight fun and I know i need that extra help!

My goal is to lose about 40 pounds by Easter. Changed to 20 pounds. 40 would be crazy! That would put me at about 237, a low I haven't seen in a very long time. I have never seen the WEED thing before but it sounds great and seems like it would be a perfect fit for me.
W: I am trying to do the 8x8 thing, around 64-70 ounces a day
E: I am currently trying to exercise at least 45 minutes every day or at least 5-6 days out of the week. Sometimes we need a break
E: I am currently a Calorie Counter! I am staying on a 1500 calorie a day plan. It ranges from 1300 to 1500, but no more than 1500. I plan on staying on this ALL week.
D: remind myself that I am a person worthy of happiness and to take the time to do the little things for myself to improve my quality of life for myself.

Good luck everybody and thank you for allowing me to be a part of this competition!
~Ashley

jcatron243 02-15-2010 09:52 PM

:wave: Mindy~177 is close to your low right?

:welcome: Dawn! I understand about slow weight loss, so do most of us actually!

Emily~Did you and DH get any time alone?

Timoba :welcome2: I don't set a specific weight target either, I rarely make them I lose so slow. Congrats on your weight loss so far!

Rachel :wave: Welcome. I tried Zumba for the first time last Wed. Wow it was a tough workout. If I new the moves and wasn't feeling like an idiot it would have been better. Congrats on your weight loss so far. I love your D.

Kris~ :hug: I'm glad you are doing what is right for yourself. That is number one in my book. I hope things simmer down for you soon.

Ashley :welcome: Hi, welcome to our crew. I don't miss the days of full time work and full time school but you will make it through them and be all the better for it. 40 pounds in 7 weeks is really a high weightloss goal. you need to be very careful and pay close attention to your body.

Tiara~ :) Seriously I doubt you actually gained 10 pounds in 2 days. Get in your water and exercise and watch your carbs for a couple of days and it will come back off quickly.

I made it though my day okay. It was pretty rough for the most part, but I made it. I went to the gym and accidentally ran 3 miles. I was only going to go for 2.5 I wanted a slow steady soft run. I must have had my pace set higher than I did the other day. :) ok how many people accidentally run 3 miles. I'm crazy. I'm ready for a day off. I'm going to bed now. More in the morning.

farn00a57 02-15-2010 10:05 PM

Jeni- I actually completely agree with what you said. 40 pounds in 7 weeks is almost borderline ridiculous. I am going to switch it to 20 pounds. This goal I know will be obtainable and I won't get discouraged. I know I would get discouraged if I didn't make my goal. Thank you for pointing that out! And yes, burning the candle at both ends with school and work is never fun! haha but unfortunately necessary! :)

Dab52776 02-16-2010 12:52 AM

Thanks for the warm welcome girls :hug:

Ashley... I agree with Jen and with your decision to adjust your goal. 20 lbs is very achieveable. I'll be cheering for you!!!

I got the results of my blood work from my doctor tonight.... things weren't too bad, but my cholestrol did go up a bit from the last time I was checked. I know that I've been letting unhealthy foods creep back into my diet, so now I have another reason to tighten up my eats!

Have a good night :)

Momto6inOH 02-16-2010 06:55 AM

Welcome everyone! This is a great challenge - I lost 12 lbs. on the Valentine's Day version of it the past 6 weeks. Setting daily water, exercise, eating, and daily personal goals/affirmations really helps to keep one focused on the key parts of loosing weight. A little about me - I have a blended family of 6 (5 boys, 1 girl), survived divorce, remarried 2.5 years ago :val2:, work full-time and have a tendency to stress eat - a tendency which has caused me to gain almost 25 lbs. in last two years. In fact I've gained and lost that 25 lbs. a lot in my life - seems like every couple years. Now, I'm finding better ways to deal with stress so I can break that cycle! Kids are home again today due to snow so I need to get a jump start on my work day (I work from a home office). Will post more later tonight.

W: 64 oz.
E: 30 minutes elliptical
E: 1200 calories
D: Get back on track today with my program!

Timoba 02-16-2010 08:08 AM

thanks for the welcomes, chicks!

i'm just short of 35, married with 2 young children. i was recently diagnosed with diabetes and trying to lose weight for health reasons.

W - i like to stick with 64 oz a day. i usually drink more than that- especially during the summer months, but if i set my goal there, i'll at least get in the recommended amounts.

E - i lose motivation so quick! i will set my goals at 15 minutes a day in an attempt to get an established routine.

E - stay within my point range. (ww)

D - limit snacks today! we have ice cream & chips with today being mardi gras. i am planning to lay off of the chips and only eat one scoop of ice ceam.

jcatron243 02-16-2010 09:16 AM

Ashley, I'm glad I didn't offend you. I'm also glad that you changed your goal. 1 rule I try to follow is to not get to discouraged if I don't make a challenge goal. Why? because I cant control what the scale says. I can control what I eat and how much I exercise. If I get my goals there, then I am good. The scale is very stubborn. (BTW I have only hit 2 goal weights in 3 years)

Dawn~my cholesterol was high too, not horribly but high. I haven't had it checked in over a year though.

:wave: Hi Jeanette! I lost and gaind the same 12 pounds for almost 18 months. It was so irratating. So far I have had myself in check since June. now its the same 5 pounds :)

Timoba~Last year my doctor diagnosed my with diabetes also. I had been pre-diabetic for at least 6 years. When I was pregnant with my kiddos I had gestational diabetes and I had to give myself 6 injections a day. I totally agree with your plan for exercise. That is exactly how I got started. In the past I went full out 60 minutes of hard cardio a day, kept it up fro a month, then I gave up. This time I knew I wanted to add it to my life, so I started at 15 minutes a day for a week, then I added 2 minutes for a week. . .I followed that until I hit 30 minutes. That was 3 years ago. Now I Love my workouts, I don't dread them, I need them and crave them. Stick with us, This is a great crew!! How old are your kiddos?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, todays plan is a simple one. Take Makenna to school, go workout, home and shower. Off to shopping to pick up some donations for "shoes for Hati" my Y is taking donations this week, also I am getting a new coffee pot for work. Then Fold the laundry my husband washed this weekend. Wash bedding, pull out suitcases to air them out. Pick Makenna up from school~Homework, maybe a second workout? Then Swim lessons for both Tommy and Mak. (We decided to keep Mak in the upper level since swim team doesnt start until april, and they opened the class up). Home and to bed. When I write it out like that it doesn't seem so simple does it.
The scale was nice this morning, I am back to 136 (my v-tines day weight). So I will change my ticker. I am completely blown away by the fact that I have ran over 34 miles so far this month. I guess a marathon a month is way short. (for you new gals Last month I set a goal to run a cumulative marathon a month every month for the year.)
W 80 oz
E 35 cardio/20 weights/ 10 cardio. Maybe a second burst of 35 cardio?
E1400 cals today
D Well I explained my day above.
emiloots 02-16-2010 09:49 AM
Morning Ladies -
I apologize in advance, I'm really bad at keeping track of new 'faces', it's going to take me a while to remember everyone.
Ashley & Timoba - Welcome! Timoba, I go between WW and counting calories - I was on WW for 3 years before I had kids and was really successfu,l so it does work if you stick to the plan.
Jeni - We didn't get to go out, made Emeril's 'Shrimp & Sausage in Essence Cream Sauce' (aka superpasta in our house) very heavy & rich but oh so yummy, also had mini cheesecakes from whole foods. One of these days we'll get some time to ourselves that doesn't involve painting the house ;) Glad the scale was good to you...136, I remember that weight - that's what I weiged when I got married. Congrats!!!
Jeanette - awesome weight loss last challenge!!
Today I have off because my mom's in town, dropped the kids off at daycare and we're going for pedicures at noon. Yay - haven't had one since I was pregnant with Desmond so it's been a while! Stopped off for my latte this moning, going to have some 0 points soup for lunch and plan a healthy dinner. Hope everyone has a great day!
W - 64+
E - none planned today
E - stay within my points
D - relax and enjoy the time with my mom, cleaning can wait for another day...
pokeycactus 02-16-2010 09:51 AM
Kris, have you tried a prescription for quitting smoking? My mom has been a smoker her entire life, and about a year ago went on Chantex (I know that's phonetically that's how it's spelled, but don't know how to actually spell it! :)) and she was able to quit and stay quit. It's kind of a brutal program, it literally makes you sick to your stomach if you smell cigarettes, and then it starts to give you a Pavlovian response - you think about smoking and you get ill. Brutal, but effective!
----
Thanks for the warm welcome! :hug:
Do we update the next day if we met our goals for the day before, or are we setting goals each morning? I'm a bit confused!
Nixmom 02-16-2010 10:27 AM
Morning Weedies!
Pokey - I really appreciate the suggestion! My doctor actually prescribed Chantrix (and XANAX - what does that tell ya!) but never filled the prescriptions because I seriously (not a cop out) cannot afford to feel yucky during my work day. I am in my heavy work time (local govt budgets) and need to be on my top game for the next 3 months. The patches actually work well for me along with some good old fashion will power. I quit for 9 months and then "had one" and away we went. Been smoking about 1/2 a pack a day on weekends and 2 to 4 during the week. I just have to want to stop, and its done. Problem is... sometimes that moment on the porch with my nicotine filled friend is the only silence I get during my day (no one wants to hang out with a smoker you know!). Yeah for your mamma keeping away from them. Tell her to stay strong!!!!
OK - personals later - Weed for today ~
W - GET IT DOWN! 64+
E - Gonna walk the dog tonight
E - Not so focused on it today, but will watch portions
D - Doing what I need to do for me.... even if its back off!
pokeycactus 02-16-2010 11:48 AM
Kris - she works for the government too! She's the head of security for a government program called Job Corps (she works with "displaced" youth and helps them turn their lives around) and so the kids would come into her office from a smoke break and smell like it, and she'd have to run out the back door to hurl. :( Poor mom! But yeah, she did it during the summer when she only had like, 50 kids on center as opposed to 500.
Confession - I actually like hanging out with the smokers! I know that sounds crazy, but when I'm having a horrible, horrible day, that smell reminds me so much of my mom, and even though I'm 25 and married, I live really far away from her, and some days, I just want my mom, ya know? I'm silly, I know...:o
jcatron243 02-16-2010 01:33 PM
Pokey~ Really its up to you if you want to let us know how you did the day before. I always set my goals in the morning. I believe in planning. We are totally laid back here.
Emily~I hope you have a good time getting your pedicure.
Kris~ Ah The moments of silence we steal for ourselves.
Workout is done. The new years rush is officially over :carrot: for me :( for all those who quit working out. The gym was dead today so I stayed on the treadmill for 45 minutes. 4.15 miles. Got in my weights too! I feel great!!!
Now for the rest of my day.
farn00a57 02-16-2010 03:20 PM
[QUOTE=jcatron243;3154669]Ashley, I'm glad I didn't offend you. I'm also glad that you changed your goal. 1 rule I try to follow is to not get to discouraged if I don't make a challenge goal. oh yes don't worry, I wasn't offended at all. I'm actually glad that you said something i tend to get very excited and restless. So i have a problem with making my goals very unrealistic and just wanting the fat gone NOW. haha. I completely agree the scale is stubborn, we definitely have a love/hate relationship. thank you again with the helpful suggestions! :)
have a good rest of the day!!
mtiger 02-16-2010 07:16 PM
Jeni- My lowest was 177 but I got down to 176.4 on Friday. Now I have gained again, 179.8. Why??? Who knows??
Glad to see all the new people here. Peoplpe are excited about this journey. I would just LOVE to see something under 175 and be able to keep it there. Pre-menopause SUCKS!!!
Nix- Glad you're sticking with us baby!!!
Did Jillian's kickboxing DVD tonight plus a little walk/jogging.
jcatron243 02-16-2010 08:24 PM
Mindy~The same reason my scale goes up 5 pounds overnight for no reason. IT HATES US!! Ok really I don't know.
No second workout for me today. I just got to busy. O well. Time an hour of swim lessons!!
jcatron243 02-17-2010 05:35 AM
Swim lessons was great yesterday!! There are so many kids in both classes. Tommy has two qualified teachers and they are both great! (14 kids!) Maks class has 10 kids, but since they are all good swimmers she only has 1 teacher. She swam So hard last night it was great!
Today is my last day of work for the week :) I get a day of vacation tomorrow.
DH has lost 10 pounds since Jan 4 doing his contest at work. I am so proud of him! Once he hits 200 pounds, (2 pounds to go) I am dropping the # of calories he can have. (from 2100 to 1900, It shouldn't be too hard on him. He is so nice to put me in control. He is consistantly losing weight, which is great. His real goal is to just to be under 200 pounds. But since he is in the contest he needs to keep losing. I'm hoping for 180, but its his goal that counts, not mine.
W 64 oz
E 35 minutes
E 1200 cals
D Have a great day!!
Dab52776 02-17-2010 07:03 AM
Jeni... Great news about your husband! I wish that mine would put me in control and let me help him lose weight, but he's not at the point of being ready to commit to that... hopefully someday :?:
Quick check in on how my week is going:
W~ doing well :)
E~ on track, but missed my morning workout today, so I will have to do it this evening
E~ not so good. A Mardi Gras celebration at work yesterday got the best of me, but today is a new day ;)
D~ Still trying to take a few minutes to relax, so the stress doesn't build up any more....improving!
Hope everyone has a great day!
allchic 02-17-2010 07:29 AM
hi, i am new here... i just saw this forum when i google "weigh loss". i gain quite a lot since the valentine's day celebration which makes me feel bad about myself but i will try the daily affirmation method. :)
W- i take less than 1L a day so i will try to take 2 L water a day. dunno if it is enough for me but it is a start...
E- i work from 7.30 am until 5.30pm... the only exercise is to take 30 min walk with my dog
E- i only eat breakfast and lunch... i dont like eating dinner coz it makes me feel sleepy. i dunno if it will cause me overeat during breakfast or lunch...
D- as i say, i like myself but there is up and down so i will try to say something nice about myself everyday...
hopefully i can be more healthy... :)
My goal for Easter- 6 pounds. I'm new here and I love the idea of these mini challenges! By Easter I will weigh 136 pounds- however, more importantly, for my WEED (and let's hope I do this right) this is what I want to accomplish;
W- I'm terrible of how much liquid period I drink in a day- so my goal here is to start slow. I want to increase my water from 2 cups to at least 4 cups today- so double my intake, and since cups are small and as long as I make a CONSCIENCE effort- I CAN do this!
E- I am terrible here too lol- Today and for the next week, my goal is to aim for 20 minutes daily- might not sound like much, but it is to ME :)
E- I usually undereat (not by choice always). Today, I am going to aim for a a healthy amount of around 1200
D- To think more positive of ME!
Good Morning all!!
Today is good day for me so far again. :) Way too fortunate these last few days. I am down another pound. So that is 3 towards my goal. :) I have been keeping up with my WEED. :) Hitting my exercise and my water goals as well as my calorie intake! Need to continue to work on the D part....
Off to work out on the elliptical for 45 minutes and take the puppy for a walk! Have a good day! :)
Just realized; there is a serious over abundance of smiley faces in this post! haha
I'm joining! I'm K and I'm 25. I'm married with a toddler. (19 months) I haven't weighed in since Valentine's but I'll weigh tomorrow morning. My husband and I are going for a special night out just the two of us and staying at a hotel in 16 days so I'd like to lose some weight by then so I have to kick my butt into gear! Plus I have an appointment with my gyn on March 12 and I weigh more than what I weighed last year which was about 8 months after having my son I'm going to cry.
W - Limit diet sodas to 1-2 a day, drink mostly water and crystal light since that's what we drink at home
E - Start going to the gym again, I haven't been in 2 weeks. I need to go at least 3 times a week but I'm going to aim for 4. I want to do 30 minutes of cardio and some weights too.
E - I'm not a big dieter, I do better with portion control so I need to start writing down what I eat or just stop all snacking after 7 pm unless it's a piece of fruit.
D - Pick up 10 minutes every night before I go to bed to save myself the hassle of seeing toys on the floor when I come home from work each day. I could easily do this when my son goes to bed at 7.
Ugh! I'm miserably sick! Swollen sore throat, cough, runny nose, couldn't get my contacts in...I feel gross. But I'm at work, I have waaaay too much to do this week, unfortunately.
W-easy enough today, I've been drinking tea and water like crazy
E-I'm trying to decide if I should push myself to exercise today.
E-Not really hungry at all, so I'm thinking I'll easily stay within my calorie range.
D-I am going to try to write two articles and lay out a page by the end of today at work. I can do it!
What are your opinions on working out when sick? Should I just suck it up and push through?
emiloots 02-17-2010 05:34 PM
Pokey - we must be suffering from the same thing, I'm praying this sinus headache goes away soon! Hope you feel better :)
K - Welcome! I hate my gyn appts cause I haven't lost the baby weight from either of my children so I always dread telling them my weight.
Today not eh best eating day, too many sweets to little of anything good for me. Definitely a 'what the ****' day for me, now of course wallowing in regret. Not feeling good doesn't help, just makes me lazy and want to eat bad stuff.
W - 64+ (have had about 1/2 of that today)
E - meet calorie burn goals
E - plan out tomorrow and stick to it
D - find something good about today
I am not new to the forums... but i am new to this section. I have not heard of the WEED challenges before and i am ready to take them head on! I am Nicole, 29 from Richmond, VA. Married with a dog child. :)
April 5th... a little over a month away. Weighing in today at 190.8 (also the first day of my period).
W - Water intake. At least 64 oz per day.
E - Exercise. - 6 Days a week at the gym. Wednesday is a rest day. 3 of those days are for running and training for the 10K i have scheduled on March 27th. the remaining days are for other cardio and strength. Especially upper body strength of which i have none.
E - Eats. - Calorie counting and sugar reduction. I had a scare with my cholesterol about 3 weeks ago it was at 304. I am trying so hard to get it down with diet. Especially triglycerides (which were 420). 1600 - 1800 calories daily.
D - Daily goal/Daily affirmation. - Daily goal is to keep a more positive attitude. Also to try to reduce the clutter in my home to promote a healthier place to be.
my first post of the challenge....
week 1: 177.7
i am Rina, 26, living with my boyfriend of 4 years and we have a 2y/o daughter together. i am a full time medical assistant and babysit as a side job. i have been a member of this site for a few years now and recently lost about 30 pounds. i've gained back about 10 since christmas 2009. my main problem is pushing myself to get up and exercise and sometimes cutting myself too much slack as a way to justify not exercising. (funny how i am so hard on myself in other areas of my life). i maily walk on the treadmill but i love to jog also. unfortunately my knees hae a hard time with it. i wear knee braces though so that helps. i signed up for a marathon walk that is happening in April so i'm trying to get ready for that as well.
w: at least 4 water bottles a day (i refill them from the cooler at work)
e: 30-40 min on treadmill at variuos inclines and speeds; i try to get in 10 min of jogging per session
e: healthy, normal portion sizes, limited sweets and no eating past 7pm
d: think of the goal; summer is just around the corner; diabetes runs in the family (kind of random thoughts i know but it works for me)
wow............i cant wait to get my income tax check so i can get some glasses... my eyes are killing me!
have a great day tomorrow ladies and will post again soon.
Crystalx5 02-18-2010 07:13 AM
Almost stayed on goal yesterday. I drank 5 cups of water- not just four....Yeah me! My goal for water today is a minimum of 5 cups! I didn't get in any type of exersize, so my goal for that remains the same. Eating today my goal is just to watch what I eat as I have woken up STARVING and these are the days I have to be careful on my food choices. Today my goal is to THINK positive about ME! Actually, I love this WEED idea- I"m excited about this sharing with everyone daily, like really excited! lol
This morning my scale said 139.8 but I won't post that as my official weight yet until I see if it stays there or not for another day or two lol. My luck, it's just fluctuating in my extreme favour for once, but then again, the scale was stuck for the longest time, so maybe it's catching up???? Can that really happen????
Good luck today everyone!!
jcatron243 02-18-2010 08:52 AM
One~Good morning!
Crystal~great job on the water! My scale will drop in whooshes. I stay the same for a long time then whoosh about 5 pounds goes, then it stays the same, then whoosh, 5 more pounds. It stinks, but It helps me to know that as long as I stay on track I will lose eventually.
The scale was at my all time low this morning!! 134.8 :carrot: what does that mean to me~mid cycle weight gain and hunger will start tomorrow. (maybe today). I have accepted it as a part of my life and I will deal with it.
Im off work today, going with DH to a doc appt. I decided against working out at 5am today because I was just too sleepy and worn out to get in a good workout. I will go this afternoon after the appointment and before I get the kids from school/daycare.
W 80 oz
E 35 cardio/20 weights/10 cardio
E 1400 cals.
D I need to go to the farm stand for some good fruit and veggies. Clean out my fridge and decide on 3 weeks worth of dinner so I can stock it accordingly. (For my new friends~I'm going on vacation in 3 weeks and do not want anything in my fridge when we go)
farn00a57 02-18-2010 09:20 AM
Grrrr..I gained a pound from yesterday. A little upsetting since I increased my work out yesterday, I thought for sure I was going to lose a pound. Oh well, will not let it get me down! Maybe my scale is just being a little brat!
Have a good day!! Off to take two exams! (oh what fun....)
Timoba 02-18-2010 04:15 PM
Good afternoon challengers.
I have gotten about 10 minutes of exercise in today. I have had tons of water and managed to stay within my eating plan. I just need to focus of getting in some activity. The weather is getting warmer so I'm ready to get active again.
